A/N: Happy Holidays everyone! Here is part one of a two part Holiday special! It has a mix of Yule, Greek traditions as well as classic Christmas traditions. Kinda moves the story forward, doesn't necessarily need to be read. Hope you all enjoy!

Naia shivered as a gust of wind blew through the house. Snow had begun to fall earlier in the week and while Naia wasn't one to celebrate such a holiday in a traditional sense but Luffy loved the idea of Christmas. So, here she was decorating the cabin with lights and Christmas foliage all just to appease the 7-year-old. It was a nice touch that the rest of the village had caught on and begun decorating everywhere. Tugging her coat closer to her body, Naia looked over her work. It was clean and simple but still held the cheer of the holiday. The lights sparkled off the snow and the few icicles that had formed on the room glistened like they were made of glitter.

"The whole village seems to be gleaming with life," a husky voice said from behind her. "There a party happening? What's with all the decorations?"

"Christmas is around the corner and Luffy wanted to celebrate with his new brothers. The villagers loved the idea and took to decorating everything," Naia explained sending a quick smile to the red-haired pirate captain. "Welcome back."

"It's good to be back!" Shanks grinned at her. "It was a pleasant surprise to see the place all done up."

"Never seen a Christmas town before?" Naia chuckled. "You staying long or just a pit stop?"

"Can't decide but I can be persuaded," Shanks said leering at her as she raised an eyebrow at her. A sly smile coming to form on her face.

"Oh really?" Naia battered her eyelashes at him while leaning into his side. By the sea was he warm! The shift in temperature had a shiver crawling up her back. "Luffy was hoping to have a rather large Christmas party and dinner. I'm sure he would love for you to be there."

"Are you saying you want me around for Christmas?" Shanks asked slyly, his arm coming to wrap around her shoulders.

"And if I was?" Naia raised an eyebrow at the man.

"I would have to accept of course," Shanks said hotly, "How could I leave such a beautiful woman alone on such a holiday?" Naia giggled as the captain gently kissed the back of her hand.

"You are shameless, you know that!" The man gave her a grin before turning around to gaze upon the lights that were flooding from the streets and other homes.

"Only for you!" Shanks winked. Naia rolled her eyes as she went back to straightening out some of the lights. Why were Christmas lights so obnoxious to put up? A warm body pressed up against her and a larger hand reached past her, clicking the light string into place.

"Thank you." Naia flushed as the captain didn't move away. Shanks continued to hover letting his hand trail down her arm. He made to say something when the screeching laughter of children shot through the air.

"Shanks! Are you joining us for Christmas?" Luffy launched himself at the pirate captain, who caught him with ease.

"Of course, Anchor! We wouldn't want to miss one of Naia's parties!" Shanks laughed as the two older boys came to stand with him.

"You're really going to stay?" Ace asked, eyes glistening with hope. Shanks barely got a nod across before he was piled on by three excited boys. Naia smiled as the captain wailed about escaping the Marines but getting captured by three children. Oh, his track record was broken.

"Naia! We brought the meat!" Luffy pointed to the three large boars she hadn't even noticed they had been dragging.

"A little overkill, boys." Naia shook her head in exasperation. There was so much meat. "I best get started on preparing it for the feast tonight."

"Feast! Let us bring the drinks then!" Shanks hauled himself up, bringing Luffy to rest on his shoulders while Ace clung to his back. Sabo was the only one with the decency not to cling to the man.

"That's not necess-"

"Nonsense! We would hate to take advantage of your hospitality."

"You could've fooled me." Naia rolled her eyes.

"Shanks! Shanks! Come see the inside!" Luffy and Ace pulled on his arms, forcing him to follow them inside. Naia waved them off and set about putting up the last of the decorations before turning to her own project. A small boat was propped against the side of the cabin and was decorated in holly berries, vines, ribbons, and other various traditional decorations. This was one of the first times she had ever taken part in such a tradition but she remembered drifting in the boats that would reach the far sea.

"Are you decorating a boat?" Naia jumped as Shanks came to stand by her.

"It's a tradition from my home," Naia hummed as she weaved ribbon into the pine branches. "Boats symbolizes love and respect for the sea. My village would light them up with candles and send them adrift with offerings for the sea Gods. To ensure safe returnings and seafaring for those who were sailing as well as to symbolize the anticipations of relatives at sea."

"It sounds like a beautiful tradition." Shanks let his hand caress the bow of the boat where a large space was left open. "You seemed to have left a few spots bald."

"That's where the candles go! Can't have it catching on fire or it would be a pointless offering." Naia explained. Her eyes grew soft as memories of her sisters and her shifting through all the glittering riches the people had gifted them. She was able to keep her hands on a few but she had lost them as time passed on. All that was left was a gold compass but it didn't hold much use for her. The sea would always tell her where she was. Naia glanced at the pirate captain out the side of her eye. But maybe she did have a use for it now.

"When was the last time you did this?"

"I've never actually taken part in it. I watched them send the boats out once but I've never been able to decorate one before."

"Naia," Shanks started. She shook her head at his sad tone.

"It's a happy time so don't think about it now." Naia smiled up at the captain who returned it if not a little weaker than his usual grins. "What do you say to some hot cider? Makino is stopping by later today to pick up some baked goods so I imagine Benn will be following?"

"Benn is nothing if not subtle," Shanks joked. The cabin was warm and smelled of fresh cinnamon and cloves. The earthy smells and sound of the fire gave it such a homey feeling that Naia wouldn't have minded staying there for the rest of her days. The sounds of the boys giggling in the other room and the overall atmosphere was something she never wanted to lose. The cabin was decorated in a mirage of candles, lights, and various plant life. A large pine tree was decorated in the corner of the living room and there were a couple of wrapped boxes underneath it.

"You really did the place up," Shanks observed, "And it smells amazing in here."

"It's probably all the baking I've done. Cakes, breads, cookies and other forms of sweets. I've lost count of it all honestly."

"Cakes? Cookies?" Naia chuckled at the wistful look on the man's face.

"I've had three taste testers already but someone with an adult tongue might be able to give me better feedback."

"Lead the way!" Shanks followed behind her like a lost puppy and diligently sat at the kitchen table while Naia poured him some fresh hot cider and a plate of goods. The man moaned as he tasted the morsals and raved at how well they went with the cider. The two fell into a comfortable lull of conversation as Shanks told her about his latest travels and Naia explained a couple of the items he didn't recognize. Ace, Sabo and Luffy joined not long after, enthralled by the stories the captain always seemed to spin. All three boys held a healthy flush to their cheeks ater having been playing out in the snow but their eyes glowed wen she set down cups of hot cocoa in front of them.

"You are so good at all of this. Where did you learn?" Shanks praised.

"Oh-uh, I had to learn at an early age. It was a chore at first but it soon grew to be something I enjoyed."

"Naia is one of the best cooks in the world!" Luffy exclaimed.

"Dahahahaha, only one? Not the?"

"Sanji is the best cook but he's still training!"

"Sanji?" Shanks questioned.

"He's the chef for my crew! Ace says he's going to find a better one but I know there isn't another one like Sanji! Except maybe Naia."

"I will find a better one, you idiot!" Ace growled.

"Now, now let's not fight at the table," Sabo placated, "The place where food is eaten is sacred."

"Right." Luffy and Ace nodded.

"Dahahaha, you boys are hilarious." Ace flushed while Luffy grinned as the man laughed and Naia couldn't help but join in. They really were too much sometimes.

Before long the sun had set and the freezing temperatures had reached their peak. Naia poked at the large bonfire she had set up while preparing to hang one of the boars the boys had brought home. Makino had stopped by earlier along with Benn, as Naia predicted, for some treats before rushing out of the cabin to get the gifts she had. The pirate crew had pilled into the small cabin, all ragingly drunk by the time they had made it but their joyous gander was contagious. Music flowed around the crowd and a few daring individuals had started to dance . The village was alight with song and lights as more joined in the party, spilling it out into the streets. The Red Hair's cook had offered to help along with a few of his assistance and Naia was more than happy to let him take over. A flash of blue caught Naia's attention, forcing her away from the party.

"So it's true. We are back," A familiar male voice observed.

"It is as crazy as it seems," Naia agreed.

"I got your letter and knowing Luffy I figured a party was sure to come." A figure shifted in the shadows. "Sorry, to come unannounced."

"You know you are always welcome." Naia smiled.
