The next morning at sunrise, they were at a dirtroad as Koki recently replaced a new tire on the Econoline as Claire looks back at the direction of the farm and sighed. She then heads back over to them as the baby Nasutoceratops moans softly.
"Okay." Claire said. "Okay, so I think we get this one to the DFW, and then we hit them again. Yeah. Yeah, you saw that breeding ground, right?"
"I mean, Triceratops, Sinoceratops and Nasutoceratops." Aviva said. "Who knows what they're doing to them."
"We're done." Franklin said shaking his head and Zia tended 2 fingers he somehow broke.
"What?" Koki said stunned. "What do you mean "done"? You're quitting? You too, Zia?"
Zia turns to them and uneasily sighed.
"I got a call last week." Franklin said. "It's a real job, something I can do to effectively change things. I gotta take it."
"They need us." Claire said.
"Are you saving these dinosaurs because they need us, or are you saving them to absolve yourself?" Franklin questioned.
"Oh, come on." Aviva said. "Don't you know that dinosaurs are being a big hit in the black market now these days? I mean, a Triceratops horn is worth more than a rhino horn or even an elephant tusk."
Claire scoffed turning away.
"Claire." Zia said.
"I mean, this is crazy." Franklin said. "We..."
"Claire." Zia said as Claire turns to her. "You're doing the right thing. But this... this isn't the way to go about it anymore."
"I'm afraid she's right." Koki said. "I mean, we've been at this for 4 years now."
Claire turns to the baby Nasutoceratops resting as she still feels terrible and guilty about her role in the disaster of Jurassic World, 7 years ago. And trying to save the dinosaurs that had escaped into North America and he world was the only way she knew how to make up for that.
"Claire, look, we'll find other ways to make up for what happen." Aviva said. "But last night, if it continues like that someone could get serious hurt."
"Honestly, you need someone who's good at being shot at." Franklin said. "Aren't-Aren't you and Owen still, like, a weird thing?"
"It's not that weird." Claire said.
"You do realize love works in mysterious ways, right?" Koki asked.
"He didn't mean "weird"." Zia said.
"Mm-mm." Franklin shook his head.
"No. Uh, he meant, like, surprising." Zia corrected.
Claire remained silent and looks back staring off in the distance and sighed.
"So... Are you 2 sure about this?" Koki asked.
Franklin sighed uneasily as Zia nodded.
"Well... at least keep in touch if there's anything we can do." Aviva said tossing them each a CreaturePod. "Call us, beep us, if you wanna reach us."
"Where are Chris and Martin, anyway?" Jimmy asked.
"Uh, last time I heard from them, they said something about rounding up Parasaurolophus." Aviva said. "Whatever that means."
Elsewhere in Nevada, a blanket of snow covers the vast landscape in the distant Sierras.
SIERRA MOUNTAINS NEVADA
Then suddenly a subadult Parasaurolophus bellowing rushed by as snow was kicked up with each footfall. And then a whole herd of 7 others followed behind it as then a man riding a horse pursuits after them.
"Hyah!" He yelled.
Then 4 others followed behind him as 2 were brothers.
"Ha! Come on! Ha!" One dressed in green yelled.
"Ha! Get them!" The other in blue.
The team of 5 horseback riders chased the herd as one riding a black horse named Shep, another on a yellowish one was named Rose. And the 3 others leading caught up to the herd as the Parasaurolophus pant and bellow as they ran and leading the horseback team was Owen Graby with Chris and Martin Kratt following behind him.
"Let's bring 'em home!" Owen yelled and cracked his whip. "Hyah!"
"We're with ya, partner!" Martin yelled. "Yee-haw!"
The team of horseback riders pursuit after the herd across the snowy landscape as the Hadrosaurs bellowed out.
On this snowscape, a dinosaur might seem out of place. As people were used to dinosaurs in warm, tropical regions for being reptiles. But dinosaurs actually have indeed encountered snow before. And 70 million years ago, there were dinosaurs that lived in the Arctic and witness snow during the winter months. In Alaska, there were animals like Troodontids, large herbivores like Edmontosaurus, a larger cousin to Parasaurolophus, and a close relative to Sinoceratops, Pachyrhinosaurus. And the Arctic's most powerful predator at the time, Nanuqsaurus. A smaller relative to T. Rex, but just big enough to tackle even a Pachyrhinosaur. Dromaeosaurids have also colonize the northern regions of Canada, as well as 2 other relatives of Tyrannosaurus, like Gorgosaurus and Albertosaurus. And they are capable of retaining body heat.
The Parasaurolophus herd continues fleeing across the landscape as Owen starts to catch up and run alongside with the herd as one squealed.
"Owen, one's about to break off!" Chris yelled.
Owen looked back as one Parasaurolophus banks left breaking off from the herd and whistled to his horse.
"Hyah!" He yelled.
Owen peels away from the herd as Rose and Shep continue pursuing the herd as he, Chris and Martin chased after the strayer. If they were predators, like a Tyrannosaur, then the Hadrosaur would be in dire trouble on its own.
"Hyah! Yah! Yah!" Martin yelled.
He and Chris begin to close in the Parasaurolophus.
Soon, they both pull up on both side of the Hadrosaur as they then looped ropes around it's neck. Owen soon got close enough and loops his rope around, and tossed it out and loops around the dinosaur's neck.
Owen grunted holding onto the rope and strains as he begins to tied around his saddlehorn.
Then the Parasaurolophus nears the ledge of a hill and slips and stumbled nearly losing it's footing.
"Ledge! LEDGE!" Chris yelled.
Owen nearly lost the rope and he quickly grabs it as the Brothers held onto theirs' as the 3 slipped off their horses and hit the snow. The Parasaurolophus ran as Owen, Chris and Martin held onto the ropes groaning as the 2 brothers were getting snow in their faces. And then they were approaching a stump as Owen caught it, and the Parasaurolophus lurches back from the tug as it bellows.
Chris lifted his head up as his face was covered in snow and 2 rocks over his eyes, and Martin had a facefull of snow as his eyes opened and blinked.
Then the rope begin to slip from Owen's grip.
"No." He said.
It continues slipping as he turns to the Parasaurolophus trying to pull free.
"We're losing it!" Chris said.
The rope slips more as the Parasaurolophus squeals and continues bellowing as it was just seconds from pulling free and running off.
Acting fast, Owen quickly wraps the rope around the stump as well as Chris and Martin and secured the ropes as they turn to the panicked Parasaurolophus as it huffs, growls and bellowed.
"Easy, big fella." Martin said gently.
"Okay. Come here." Owen gently said.
They held onto their ropes as the Parasaurolophus continues bucking and pulling like how a captured horse would.
"Okay." Owen said and grunted holding onto his line.
"Easy, it's okay." Chris said. "It's okay."
The Parasaurolophus continues bucking as it huffs and bellowed.
"Hey, hey." Owen said.
He then held his left hand out as the Parasaurolophus starts to calm down as it huffs, and finally stops bellowing.
"We're not gonna hurt you." Martin reassured.
The Parasaurolophus grunts softly and exhales a small mist cloud in the cold air.
"We're gonna get you some place safe." Owen said.
He slowly nears his hand to the Hadrosaur's snout.
"Hey." Owen said gently.
The Parasaurolophus lowed and purred as Owen gently placed his hand on it's snout.
"There you go." Owen gently said. "There you go. Yeah."
He then lightly smiled.
Shortly later, Owen was back on his horse holding the rope as the Parasaurolophus followed as well as Chris and Martin in Parasaurolophus Power Suits as their horses followed.
And they soon meet up with Shep and Rose.
In the last 4 years, the Wild Kratts continue to help dinosaurs, and other animals. As they've met new creatures like flamingos, Harris' Hawks, Hammerhead Sharks, Ocelots, Tardigrades, Giant Otters, Capybaras, and African Wild Dogs and many more.
A while after the Cats and Dogs adventure, creature adventures were put on hold as they've been helping the dinosaurs. And the Villains becoming an increasingly problem, at one time they tried to encourage them not to use animals cruelly, but gave up after a while and they decided to up their game too. As recently, they managed to expose Varmitech Industries, and Donita's fashion line of what they truly do. Zach and Donita were officially put out of business and Varmitech Industries was shut down after learn what truly powers his inventions. Paisley Paver's true intentions were eventually realized as well as Pave Nature Incorporated was shut down 7 months ago.
However, Zach, Donita, Dabio and Gourmand vanished without a trace. Paisley and Rex too are also in the wind.
And incase Zach decides to show up again, they are better prepare as Aviva and Koki have finally upgraded the Tortuga security system. Completely hack-proof, and even if Zach did try to, they'll know about it. As well as a new radar system that would detect them as they come within a mile of the Tortuga.
Later, they were following a river as the Parasaurolophus squealed and horses neighed.
Chris and Martin knew all that dinosaur bone powder that is new in the black market goes for 3,000 an ounce. And a Parasaurolophus like their friend could be worth $500,000 of bone powder.
A price for a poacher that can't resist.
But on a hilltop were a team of 4 horseback riders were watching them, one of them on a white horse was a man with brown hair, facial hair, blue eyes, and has a snake tattoo behind his right eye.
And he watches them like a Cougar stalking deer.
Elsewhere in the forest, at a hidden mountain cabin, Maisie Lockwood now a teenager at 14 years old, chops a piece of log in half with an axe as birds in the distance squawked.
However, it's been an uneasy 4 years for her.
With lots of people looking for her, as they had different point of views on her than other people, Owen and Claire had her hiding for her safety.
Maisie placed one half of the log on the stump, but then the loud squawk of an animal call echoes out through the forest as she gasped turning to the direction. A smaller squawking sound as heard as well as Maisie knew what animal made the loud squawk, but didn't recognized the smaller calls.
As soon as everything went silent, Maisie turns back to the log piece and then chops it in 2.
After she finished chopping enough firewood, Maisie rode her bike down a hill and pedals down a trail leading to an old bridge in which she isn't supposed to go pass.
She soon pedals across the bridge and continues pedaling, but Maisie suddenly heard a shriek through her headphones and looks to her right seeing 2 silhouettes running through the forest. Maisie slows her bike to a stop as Ravens were heard cawing in the distance, she removes her hood and headphones and looks around through the forest.
Hidden among the trees, soft purring was heard as the 2 creatures watched her.
Maisie looks through the trees as she couldn't see them, and though she only saw them for a second, she did however recognized them and were familiar. But after a few moments, she soon placed her headphones back on.
At a lumberyard, machinery whirring fills the air as a forklift rattled carrying a load of lumber. Maisie pedals through the yard heading to a town.
A truck hauling a flatbed of lumber drives off as Maisie pedals through a street heading to town.
A bell jingles as the door of a bait shop opens as Maisie walks in and looks at a few fishing equipment.
After grabbing a few hooks and lures, Maisie placed them on the counter.
"Shouldn't you be in school?" The store owner asked as she rang up the items.
"I'm homeschooled." Maisie assured.
"That so?" The owner said skeptically. "And where's home?"
Maisie placed one more thing on the counter, a Hersey's bar.
After finishing her supply run, Maisie begins the trip home as she heads through the lumberyard once more. But then workers were heard shouting indistinctly.
"I don't know!" A worker said.
"Whoa!" Another yelled.
"Better not stand there, man." A third worker said.
Maisie turns to the commotion as a groaning bellow was heard.
"Holy crap." A worker said.
Maisie sets her bike down and went over as a crowd of workers stood.
"What in the world, man?" A worker said.
Maisie made her way trough the crowd as an Apatosaurus has wandered into the mill as some had their phones out as the giant stood in the center of the yard, and has a light layer of snow on it's back. They all stared at the Jurassic Titan as then the Apatosaur bellows out loudly, as this was not a weather it was use to, as it once grew up on an island where it was warm and tropical year-round.
And during the days of Jurassic, Nevada had similar conditions that Nublar once had before Sibo's eruption.
As winter is a tough time of year for any animal, no matter how big.
Maisie felt sorry for the gentle giant knowing it wasn't use to cold snowy weather, and she then turns to the foreman next to her and pulls his sleeve having an idea.
"So, the dinosaurs..." She whispered indistinctly to him.
A worker soon lit up a flare and hands it to another standing on the back of a water truck as it's horn honks out a loud blare as he waves the flare out. The Apatosaurus turns towards the truck as it's horn continues honking as the truck slowly heads off as the worker held on waving the flare.
Maisie and the other yard workers watched as the Apatosaur followed the truck, but then it looked back and lows a soft bellow as if it was calling out to something.
Some snow shifted and dropped as a second Apatosaurus hiding behind some lumber stacks climbed to it's feet after resting. And the snow slid off it's back and bellows out as it appears to be a youngster, at least 4 or 5 years old, but already nearly the length of a school bus. It followed it's elder as Maisie and the workers watched as the giants amble off following the water truck.
The foreman turns to Maisie, and then saw her walking off as she heads home and soon turns back to the Apatosaurus leaving.
Author's Note:
I'm still surprised that the Parasaurolophus in Dominion were given a more accurate look. But I slightly wonder if they're actually Biosyn designed. It's funny how it was thought they were Charanosaurus at first.
And here's something interesting that I think might be true: Triceratops, Nasutoceratops, Allosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Moros, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus and T. Rex all lived in Nevada when alive. Utah where the fossils of Nasutoceratops, Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Moros, Stegosaurus being next store to Nevada, and it's actually not too far away from Montana where T. Rex, Parasaurolophus and Triceratops are found.
I also happen to find an extended version of Dominion online, and I actually didn't know there was an extended scene in the lumberyard with the foreman turning to Maisie as she heads home.
Anyway, my New Year's was quiet with my dad not feeling well, as we planned to meet with some friends. And so, we got a dinner from Wendy's, I actually tried their Peppermint Frosty, and it was actually good.
I have seen that scene where Owen and Rainn meet, but felt unsettle with him forced to give up the Parasaurolophus to him. I mean, who knows what Rainn could have done do it.
Next, we witness how a young Raptor goes out on her first hunt.
