A/N: This is a real short update that I had no intention of writing because Carver technically doesn't exist in the Maya-verse. BUT THEN last week's episode gave me the real ick where Carver and Stella were concerned.
Since Kelly and Stella aren't seeing what we are, someone in the Severide family needs to - enter Maya.
my mama don't like you
"Why were you looking at my mama like that?"
Surprised by the unexpected voice behind him Carver jumped, banging his head on the Truck compartment he was working in. He mumbled a curse and turned around to find Maya standing behind him, arms crossed and with a very displeased look.
She might look like Stella, but that face was totally Severide's. Carver thought as he looked at the five-year-old. Her babysitter had dropped her off at the station to visit for a few hours so Maya could get a little time away from the house. The littlest Severide, according to Stella and Kelly, had started teething and no one was having fun.
Looking around, Carver didn't see anyone else out in the bay. He looked back at the little girl in front of him. "Are you supposed to be out here alone?"
"I'm not alone," Maya stated matter-of-factly. At Carver's raised eyebrow, she continued. "I'm out here with you."
Carver was about to roll his eyes before he remembered he was talking to a five-year-old. He huffed. "Does your mom or dad know that you're out here?"
"Does my daddy know how you look at my mommy?"
Carver crossed his arms over his chest, mirroring Maya's stance. "And how, exactly, do I look at your mommy?"
"The same way daddy does." Maya uncrossed her arms and put her hands on her hips. "I don't like it."
Carver scoffed out a laugh and turned back to what he had been doing. Maya might be his Lieutenant's kid, but that didn't mean he had to spend his time arguing with a 5-year-old. "I think you're confused."
"I think you have a crush on my mommy," Maya argued. "And that's a no-no. Mommy loves daddy…and me…and sissy….and –"
In frustration, Carver dropped the tool in his hand and turned back to face Maya. "I do not have a crush on your mom!"
"Yes, you do!"
"No, I don't!"
"Yes, you do!"
"NO. I don….you know what? I'm not gonna argue with a five-year-old. I have better things to do with my time."
Carver closed the door to the compartment a little harder than he needed to and move to the other side of the truck. He didn't hear any little footsteps following him and assumed Maya had finally gotten tired of her little crusade and gone back to her parents.
He should've known better.
Just as he opened another compartment door, Maya made her presence known again.
"I'm five, but I not dumb." Maya stated, crossing her arms once again. "My eyes work good."
"Listen. I don't know what you think you're seeing but –" Carver was interrupted before he could finish.
"Maya?"
A few moments later, Stella rounded the corner and spotted her daughter with Carver. "There you are! Uncle Gallo has dinner ready. Let's get you fed before Sadie comes back to pick you up."
Maya happily skipped over and grabbed her mom's hand. Stella smiled at her little girl then looked back at her teammate. "You coming Carver?"
"I'll be there in a minute."
Stella nodded and led Maya to the common room. Before Maya crossed the threshold, she turned to look at Carver, locking eyes with the man.
Carver caught Maya's eyes and rolled his with a scoff, turning back to the truck.
Maya saw it though and smirked. No one messed with her family.
