AN: I should probably mention that these are not going to be in chronological order. For example, this one takes place just a few days into camp, while the previous scene took place some time after it ended.
Luz looked around the empty cabin. She still didn't know how to feel about this camp to be honest. Although she had to admit, even counting the tag-along she had convinced Mom to let come with her, it was better than she thought it would be. And if even someone who hadn't even been on this planet for more than a week was able to make friends here, than maybe there was hope for a weirdo like her.
Oh, and speak of the demon and she will appear. Or in this case, walk through the door.
"Hey Vee."
"Hey." Vee hopped up on her bed next to the door and dropped her disguise.
Luz bit her lip. That was actually something she wanted to ask, but she wasn't sure how. Oh well, best bite the bullet now. "Vee there's actually something I've been wanting to ask."
"Yeah?"
"I was just wondering why you're like that?"
"…Like… what?"
"Like, all…" Luz gestured at her form. "…Snakey, and not… you know, fleshy."
Vee was silent for a moment, making Luz worry she made some form of faux pas, but then she said "It's… complicated."
"How so?"
Vee looked down at her form. "I guess I've just… Never really liked pretending to be someone I'm not." She looked back up. "Also, skin is weird."
"Oh… I guess I can kind of understand that." Still though, and she felt kind of ashamed at saying this, "But are you really sure that's a good idea?"
Vee frowned "How so?"
"Well, I mean… this isn't really a pri-"
Next to Vee's bed the door suddenly slammed open. "Hey girls!" Masha said cheerily. "I just need to grab my sunscreen, I'll be out of your hair real quick."
Luz and Vee silently followed her with their eyes as she made her way to her bed in the far corner, not even sparing them a second glance. It didn't take her long to find what she was looking for, and she quickly turned around with a tube in her hand. Upon seeing Vee she raised an eyebrow. "…Weren't you just wearing a green shirt?"
"Uhh…" Vee looked down at the yellow shirt her human form wore. "Nope!" she denied.
"Yeah, no, it was always that color," Luz quickly confirmed.
"Hm." Masha shrugged as she walked over to the door. "Must be going color blind."
Luz let out a nervous chuckle. "Yeah, must be."
The door swung shut behind her, and the two remaining girls breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that the third evidently hadn't been paying much attention to her surroundings. Luz spoke up again. "So, like I was saying, w-"
The door swung open again. "By the way, they're about to serve lunch, so you better hurry up before it's all gone!" The door was then shut.
The two remaining girls stared at the closed door for several seconds.
"Okay," Vee said once she was sure it wasn't going to open for a third time, "I think I see your point."
"Yeah…" Luz agreed. Silence reigned as they considered the close call they just experienced. Luz then spoke up again. "If it makes you feel any better, once we go back home you can look like whatever you like."
Vee smiled. "I'd like that."
Another period of silence followed "…Of course, there's always the other option"
Vee cocked her head "The 'other' option?"
"Well not now, obviously, but once we get to know them," Luz gestured to the empty bunks, "a bit better, and if you think we can trust them, then…"
"…" Vee bit her lip and looked away. "…Maybe someday…"
"Fair enough." Luz stood up. "Come on, let's go eat."
AN: Just to clear up any confusing regarding Masha's pronouns; this AU is operating on the premise of them changing their pronouns sometime between YL and TtT. I actually do have plans to touch on this a bit more, but who knows if we'll get to that point.
