AN: Well, when I first started these I said I'd write out suggestions if I liked them, so it's probably about time I fulfilled that promise.
Luz yawned as she came down the stairs. Apparently she was still asleep, because waiting for her there was some kind of snake… creature… thing…
…Oh, right… yesterday wasn't a dream, was it?
"Hi Luz."
"Hi… Vee, right?"
"Yeah…" Vee's tail wagged happily. "I… just wanted to say thanks. You know, for… everything."
"You… really don't have to thank us." Seriously, she'd done that enough yesterday to last a lifetime.
"Right, sorry."
"…You don't have to apologize either."
"Oh yeah, sorr- er, I mean…" Vee trailed off, and there was an awkward silence for a few moments. "Uh… I made breakfast?"
"Oh?" Is that what that smell was? "What'd you make?"
"I think the recipe called them 'pancakes?'"
…Those did not smell like pancakes.
Luz went over to the kitchen and grimaced. She supposed the blackened mass on the plate could generously be called "pancakes." You know, if you… lied.
"You… said you followed a recipe?" Luz asked.
Vee nervously scratched her head. "Yeah, but it was really confusing."
"How so?"
"Well, it was quite vague. For one thing, it didn't say what kind of eggs I should use. I assumed that meant it didn't matter and scrounged up some spider eggs." Luz blanched, and Vee frowned. "Was… that wrong?"
"I'm… sure it'll be fine…"
"And when it said 'one cup milk,' I was supposed to use the stuff in there, right?" she asked, pointing to the fridge. Luz nodded. "Okay good. Although I didn't really know what cups to use, so I grabbed some of those." Vee pointed to an open cupboard, which to Luz seemed to contain a few less glasses than last night. Luz glanced back over to the "pancakes," which she now noticed had some suspiciously jagged edges.
"Plus, I couldn't find any flowers in here, so I had to go out and pick some. Also, I think the book misspelled 'flower.'" Vee suddenly perked up. "Wanna try one?" she asked, holding up the plate of "food."
Luz paled. "Oh… thanks," she said, trying to come up with a way to let Vee down gently, "but uh… I'm not actually… um…"
". . ."
". . ."
Vee looked down dejectedly and placed the plate down. "…I messed up, didn't I?"
". . ." Luz shoved the mess aside. "Tell you what, how about I help you out this time."
"…Yes please," Vee said meekly.
