Days passed since the return of Hopper and his gang, the colony was still collecting food for themselves and for the grasshoppers (again -_-). But none of them were more worried than the safety of their Queen, Princess, and Hero; the circus bugs were still thinking of a way to protect their friends from the heartless Hopper before it's too late. Flik was eventually released from the hospital due to him only having a few minor injuries, but he still had a few bruises on him due to getting beaten up by Thumper, and nearly getting strangled by Hopper.
One day, Flik was in his room, working on a new invention for his wedding (he wanted it to be special for Queen Atta) when the Circus Bugs entered the room to check on him. "Hiya, Flik!" Franics greeted, Flik stopped working on his invention and faced the Circus Bugs. "Hi guys!" He greeted them back, "What are you doing here?" "Oh we just wanted to check on you." Rosie told him. Flik made a small smile, "Thanks guys, but I'm fine." He replied. "But you haven't been acting like yourself ever since Hopper returned." Manny told him, "You've been looking a little blue." "I'v always been blue.." Flik told him. "Oh not the colour!" Manny laughed, "Your emotions! You've been acting all grumpy and sad for days." "He's right you know." Slim said, "Where's that sweet and optimistic ant we're looking for?!"
Flik didn't reply and just got back to working on his invention. The Circus Bugs were really concerned, they've never seen Flik act like this ever since his banishment. "Flik, tell us what's wrong." Rosie said, "Is it because you're gonna be killed if the colony doesn't get enough food for the grasshoppers?" "Some of it is." Flik told her, "Most of it is Me and Atta's wedding.." The Circus Bugs stood in confusion, "Why are you upset about the wedding?" Rosie asked, "Do not love Queen Atta?" "Oh No!" Flik said, "I love Atta with all my life and I do want to be with her forever, but what if she says 'no'? Or what if I'm not a good King? I just... don't think I'm ready to lead a whole colony!" The Circus Bugs understood, but just then Queen Atta came in; she heard everything!
"Flik, you're starting to sound like me!" Atta told her Fiancé, "Do you not want to marry me? You were the one who proposed to me!" "Atta, I do want to marry you!" Flik said, "I just don't think I'm ready to be King."
"I know you're ready, I've seen how you were treating this colony. You also saved us years ago from them, you've shown us that we're stronger than the grasshoppers. You love and care for this colony, you tried to help them! You can still be an inventor, but also our King!" Atta told him.
Flik thought for a moment, he knew Atta was right, but he just had a feeling he wasn't good enough for a King. Flik was about to reply, but Atta changed the subject. "So Flik, what are you inventing now?" Atta said as she looked at his (work-in-progress) invention. "Oh, it's a surprise your majesty. You'll see it at the wedding." Flik told her. Atta made a smile, "I can't wait to see what it is." She said as she approached Flik and kissed him on the cheek before leaving, "And remember, you'll be an amazing King!"
After Atta left, Flik made a small smile; he never had anyone tell him he was gonna be an amazing King.
It soon became nighttime, the colony was exhausted from all the work they were doing. Flik was almost done with his invention, just two or three things need to be done and then voila! But Flik and Atta were gonna stay up a bit longer than usual and have a little moment on top of the entrance to the colony.
Once the whole colony was asleep, Flik and Atta left the anthill and rushed to the top of the entrance. The two lovebugs sat down and stared at the full moon, it was very beautiful even with all the stars in the night sky. Flik then faced Atta and gazed at her, Atta then faced Flik too and kind of made a shocked face which caused Flik to stop and look back at the moon. Atta made a smirk, "I saw that, silly!" Atta teased. Flik made a nervouse laugh, but then faced her again. "Atta, do you really think I will be a good King?" Flik asked, "I just don't feel ready." Atta sighed, "Flik, I don't want to do this now! You've been asking me the same question almost all day and I kept saying 'Yes'!" Atta told him, a bit annoyed, but Flik never felt confident enough to become King.
"Flik, the wedding is only in two days. If you want, we can re-schedule the wedding to another day so we can give you time to feel ready to become King."
Flik faced Atta with a surprised look on his face, "No Atta, It's fine. This colony has already been preparing for the wedding for months, and I'd hate to disappoint them by re-scheduling the wedding to different days only because I didn't feel ready to be King." Flik told her. made a small smile, she can tell that Flik was going to be an amazing King, and she's been wanting to marry him for so long, but Atta was also scared about the colony not collecting enough food for the grasshoppers. Because if they don't, they will be killed. Atta looked back at the offering stone and saw that they still need more food in order for Hopper to spare Her, Flik, and Dot's life. Flik noticed Atta looking worried about the colony not gathering enough food, and he held her hand. "It's going to be ok Atta." Flik said to her, "Just keep thinking positive."
Atta just nodded and gazed back at the moon, but Flik gazed at her. "Do you know how beautiful you are?" Flik asked, dreamily. Atta turned to him and blushed, "Very?" Atta questioned, still blushing. Flik nodded.
"Aw thank you."
Just then, Atta yawned; meaning she was getting tired. Flik was also a little bit tired, so they decided to go back to the anthill and back to their chambers.
The next morning, The colony got to work collecting food for the grasshoppers. And only one more day until the wedding of Flik and Queen Atta. Flik was feeling a little bit more confident to become King, but he still was a bit unsure if he would be a good one tho. The circus bugs were still thinking of a way to protect their friends from Hopper, they've been at this all week and still never thought of anything to do to protect Flik, Atta and Dot.
Later on in the day, the Circus Bugs remembered that Flik has a ton of ideas, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to ask him to help them get ideas. The Circus Bugs felt a little dumb for not asking him in the first place... They went to Flik's chamber and saw him finishing up his invention by stuffing some little flower petals inside of it. "Hey Flik!" Francis greeted, "What's with the flower petals?" Flik looked up at them as he was trying to fit the petals into his invention. "Hey!" He greeted, while grunting too, "I'm trying to get the petals in here so the invention can be complete! It's supposed to be for Atta since she loves flower petals!" "You're giving petals as your wedding gift for Queen Atta?" Molt asked, giggling.
"No, It's supposed to make the petals fly out and make it look like it's raining flower petals!"
"OOHHH!" The Circus Bugs said, understanding why now. "Also the reason why we're here is because, we were wondering if you can help us get ideas that can protect you, Queen Atta and Princess Dot since you have a lot of ideas!" Heimlich said. Flik stared at them, "You're still at this?" he asked. "Yes! I mean, we are worried about Hopper killing you and the royals!" Francis said.
Flik was able to fit the petals inside his invention, and he then approached his friends. "I don't have as many ideas right now." Flik said to them, "But perhaps we can build another animal Hopper is scared of?" "What kind of other animals is he scared of? Other than birds!" Gypsy asked.
"Opossums, frogs, bats, aardvarks, lizards, and a lot more!"
"Hey! What if we get a real animal!" Molt said. Everyone stared at him like he was crazy.
"What? Think about it: Hopper might not fall for the animal we build, if we get a real one he might mistake it for a fake one and get himself eaten!"
Everyone thought for a moment, but they guess Molt could be right.
Welp, here is Chapter 4! I'm kind of running low on ideas, but I will do my best and try updating sooner.
