The year 2022 Caroline and Bonnie are at Chateau Archambeau:

"Spill!" Caroline demanded as she barged her way into the bathroom.

"What's to spill? I'm not sure what you could be referring to" Bonnie teased lathering the lavender soap suds throughout her body.

"Ugh..Bonnie, really? Well, then I guess he's free game since there's nothing to spill" Caroline teased back which made Bonnie giggle.

"You could definitely try; he may be a little worn out today so I'd give him his rest" Bonnie smiled to herself soothing the love bites across her body from her neck to her thighs.

Finally having enough, Caroline sighed and then went to the shower to open the glass door to shut off the water, making Bonnie laugh even more.

"Okay okay, we may have slept together.. a few times, and it was literally and figuratively magical," Bonnie said while walking out of the shower to grab the towel off the hook, Caroline eyeing the love bites across her body.

"Bonnie Bennett you sexual deviant! I'm so proud, he's honestly the hottest guy I've seen since Stefan" Caroline smiled to herself thinking about Stefan.

"He is definitely one of the most beautiful guys I've ever seen and one of the nicest. It was the first time in a long time that I felt..safe" Bonnie started to let her curls out of her two braids at the vanity in the bathroom, so she could run her hair oil through her curls.

"Someones at the door, I'll get it" Caroline placed her hair behind her ear to listen to the noises outside of the door to their main area, before walking out of the bathroom.

As Caroline got closer to the door, she could smell a familiar scent she smelled from the night before, gardenia perfume. Before she opened the door, she fluffed her hair and patted down her matching Satin pink pajama set.

"What a pleasant surprise" Caroline snarked with a fake smile.

"Likewise" Sabre looked Caroline up and down before walking inside the shared living room and sitting down on one of the couches. Caroline took in how perfect Sabre looked with her long braids and her matching yellow bandeau and palazzo pant set.

"Where's Bonnie?" Sabre asked curiously looking around the living space.

Bonnie quickly scrunched up her now hydrated curls and walked into the living space to greet Sabre and Caroline still in her towel.

"Hey! Good morning! I'm so sorry I'm not dressed yet, have we missed anything?" Bonnie glanced at Caroline and then at Sabre excitedly. Sabre took in Bonnie's noticeable love bites on her neck and smirked.

"No..not yet anyway, Mother.. or Sophia, has set up breakfast for us and my brother has a surprise for both of you which now makes more sense" Sabre's eyes narrowed in on Bonnie's love bites which Bonnie took note of and blushed as she placed one of her hands at her neck.

"Great! We will be down in just a moment, thank you Sabre! I hope we get a moment to connect sometime today!" Bonnie exclaimed, slightly embarrassed.

"Yeah..maybe, I'll see you both down there – and Caroline..pink is your color" Sabre said coolly looking between both of them before settling back on Caroline and then walking out of the door.

"Bitch!" Caroline scoffed when the door closed.

"I'm sorry did I miss something?" Bonnie furrowed her brows in confusion.

"It's a cool girl powerplay and I'm not falling for it – by the way do you need my blood to heal your.." Caroline gestured to her own neck with a finger.

"Oh! Actually" Bonnie closed her eyes and the love bites on her body slowly went away.

"You are such a badass" Caroline said admiring how powerful Bonnie had become.

Bonnie smiled in agreement.

"Okay let's throw some clothes on and head down there" Bonnie ordered which Caroline replied she was already on it.

After they both got ready, Caroline opted to wear the opposite of pink and opted for a short sleeve black catsuit and booties, while Bonnie opted for an oversized Prince band tee and high-waisted black athletic shorts, while wearing her hair down and letting her curls cascade down her back and frame her face.

"Care, don't you think wearing all black means she won if her comment got to you?" Bonnie asked, still not understanding the game Caroline was playing.

"Not at all, plus, it's very Parisian" Caroline smirked. Bonnie laughed as she thought how they weren't even in Paris but didn't want to further the conversation as they headed downstairs.

As they walked down to the parlor where breakfast was set up, Sophia, Bastien, and Sabre were already sitting in the parlor and quickly gathered their attention on Caroline and Bonnie.

"Good morning girls, did you sleep well?" asked an oblivious Sophia. Bonnie and Bastien both gave each other a smirk which made Sabre roll her eyes.

"Best sleep I've had in a while, thank you again, so much, for having us!" Caroline quipped, reaching for the fruit to place on her breakfast plate.

"It's my pleasure, I'm glad to finally open my home to you both. Caroline, I hate to be a bother but some friends of mine would like to meet with you sometime during this stay. You are the first vampire in about a century we've allowed into our town, let alone our Chateau, and from the stories Bonnie has told me, we are quite impressed with how you have handled your vampirism." Sophia gave Caroline an approving smile.

"Oh, I'm hardly impressive, I'm just a control freak and somehow that's translated well with me being a vampire, I've definitely made some mistakes along the way" Caroline nervously ate her strawberry.

"You gave birth to witches, that's a little impressive" Sabre interjected while tearing off small pieces of her croissant eyeing Caroline's reaction to her compliment.

"Yeah, I have got to hear more about that" Bastien stated taking a sip of his morning coffee.

"Wow, thanks! Yeah, it's definitely a story that should be saved for another day – Sophia, I would be honored, especially if that means having some of the kids around here are able to attend our school one day." Caroline smiled, feeling proud of what she had accomplished so far with the school.

"Bonnie! How did you sleep last night?" Caroline playfully asked, wanting to take the spotlight off of herself which made Bonnie slightly jump in her seat with a mouth full of eggs.

"Mmm – yeah so so great, in fact, I can't wait to go back to bed tonight!" Bonnie stated which made Bastien let out a chuckle and smile in response. Sophia finally started to notice the body language between the two and looked at Sabre who nodded slightly in annoyance.

"I actually have a surprise for the both of you, Caroline, I hope it's okay, I know you had this listed in your itinerary, but I have a feeling you won't oppose this surprise" Bastien got up from the table they were sitting at and walked over to another table where there was a pink velvet box sitting atop. He grabbed the box and placed It in front of Caroline.

"Please, open it" Bastien said softly to Caroline.

Caroline, slightly confused, looked at everyone else to take in their expressions, Sophia was beaming, Bonnie was excited, and Sabre was indifferent. Caroline finally opened the box and saw a necklace and earring set with pearls and diamonds mixed. Caroline and Bonnie both gasped in awe.

"I don't understand, I can't accept this" Caroline sat in awe.

"It's just for the night, we will need these back" Bastien laughed.

"These jewels were worn by Marie Antoinette, my sister said they would look good on you when we have Versailles to ourselves for the day" Bastien smiled while Caroline and Bonnie both squealed to each other thanking everyone else in the room.

Sophia motioned for Bastien to follow her as she got up to walk out of the parlor. When they finally put enough distance between them and the parlor Sophia knew it was safe for them to have a conversation outside of Caroline's hearing range, not that she would be paying attention over her own excitement. Sophia gave Bastien a look of knowing while crossing her arms.

"I think I'm in love with her…Bonnie" Bastien admitted.

"Mmm I gathered, I'm not surprised, but Bast-" Before Sophia could lecture her son, Bastien interrupted.

"I know - but I felt it, from the moment I met her" Bastien let out a deep sigh.

"You've seen what I've seen in her, Bast, she got the necklace for me, and not without a fight from the ancestors" Sophia narrowed her brows at the memory.

"She also cared enough about you to heal you, that's more than what they've done to help you, to help us. You know how fickle the ancestors can be" Bastien retorted.

"Yes, but that type of power – it's only going to grow, can you handle what comes with that, what's going to come with what we know? Philip told me there's been more spottings, I don't know how much longer I can train Bonnie, I'm running out of time, I need to focus on bringing the covens together and leaders of other supernaturals." Sophia held onto her necklace as many different thoughts were coming into her mind.

"We will handle what's coming together. And Bonnie, she let me in for just a moment, it was all I needed to know what kind of person she is, powerful or not, I trust her completely" Bastien responded.

Sophia nodded in agreement.

"Bastien, just please, please understand that if you choose to go down this path with her, you have my full support, but she'll never truly be yours, I've seen you get hurt before and I know how she has been hurt, there are just some things you'll only understand in time, and if you love her… thenI can't speak on it any further." Sophia grabbed his hand to rub it, hoping he could feel her emotions, of her truly wanting the best for both Bonnie and Bastien. For Sophia that meant making sure she wasn't the one to tell Bastien about Damon and Bonnie, for one, Bastien would never forgive her either for being complicit in manipulating Bonnie's memories of her loving Damon, and two, Sophia knew that for the time being, they would be each other's best hope in protecting one another.

"Understood" Bastien said softly, with a concerned look before sensing his sister.

"Sabre, that was really sweet to suggest those jewels for Caroline" Sophia motioned to her daughter to join her and Bastien.

"Will you be joining us today?" Bastien asked his sister.

"I guess I've got nothing else going on today, Mom took me off the one who shall not be named watch," Sabre said sarcastically earning an eye roll from Sophia.

"That's not funny, I almost lost you on your hunch about the coven in Croatia" Sophia gave Sabre a stern look.

"Key word is almost, I'm offended you think I can't handle myself against low-level witches" Sabre smiled proudly to herself.

"Still, you have to be careful, you need to be careful, it's no coincidence that the world of magic around the world is growing more unstable, you have to be vigilant at all costs" Sophia then grabbed both her kids in for a hug, breathing them in before going their separate ways so she could meet with the two other leaders of the ancient covens.

"I have to wear my hair up, so I can channel Marie Antoinette as much as possible" Caroline played with her hair, pulling it up in different ways in the bathroom in front of the mirror.

"I think I'll wear mine down, my curls are loving it here in France" Bonnie smiled fluffing her hair behind Caroline in the mirror.

Caroline's phone started to ring which caused both girls to look down at the phone seeing Elena's name flash across the screen. Bonnie then remembered the phone call from earlier that morning which caused her to get a sinking feeling in her stomach. Caroline quickly answered the phone and placed it on speaker.

"Hey Elena! It's Caroline and Bonnie here on speaker" Caroline exclaimed.

"Hey guys, Bonnie, I miss you so much, please send pictures when you can! Caroline can you take me off speaker? I need to speak with you" Caroline looked up at Bonnie as they both exchanged confused looks.

"Yeah sure, I'll change while I'm on the phone" Caroline got up and shrugged at Bonnie before leaving the bathroom to head to her room.

Bonnie ignored the weird feeling she had and focused on getting ready for Versailles. As she grabbed her phone, she placed her playlist on shuffle and smiled when one of her favorite songs "Hey Now the Arty Remix" came on. As she was doing her makeup, she started to get weird feelings of déjà vu she was trying to shake. When she looked in the mirror, for a moment, she got lost in a memory of her and Damon in a nightclub in Germany. She found herself starting to breathe heavy, feeling like she was on the verge of a panic attack, before getting up to go to the balcony to get some fresh air, hand still clutching her chest. As she looked down on the balcony, she noticed Bastien sitting outside with a coffee reading a book. She slowly regained her composure as Bastien looked up and made eye contact with Bonnie which made them both smile.

Bonnie walked back inside to finish getting ready and noticed a solemn expression on Caroline's face.

"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" Bonnie asked, while 'Try a little Tenderness' was now playing from Bonnie's phone in the bathroom.

"Uhm, no..but it will be, you know how Damon and Elena get, good days, bad days, makeup sex, rinse and repeat" Caroline gave an exasperated smile before letting out a sigh, as they both headed back to the bathroom.

"Mmm yes, we know that cycle all too well, I can't even keep up at this point, I don't understand why she wouldn't want me to hear though, it doesn't bother me, they know I love them both" Bonnie picked up her lip liner to place on her lips.

Caroline crossed her arms thinking about the conversation she had just had on the phone; Bonnie was watching her from the mirror.

"Okay what is it, I'm not doing the weird passive-aggressive body language – speak your piece, Caroline," Bonnie said turning around to face Caroline.

"Okay, just promise not to get mad or annoyed, and have an open mind – you know.. you don't even have to say anything I just need to get this off my chest" Caroline anxiously spat out, Bonnie giggled while giving her a look that read go ahead.

"I know how annoyed you get when the subject of you and Damon gets brought up, and maybe you two are just friends, allegedly best friends, will never understand that but anyways – Elena can't help but think that a lot of the times they argue lately it's been weirdly centered around you. Like somehow all roads always lead back to you." Caroline looked at Bonnie trying to read her expression, but Bonnie just looked to the side of her at the ground nodding her head and taking it all in.

"I'm calling Damon" Bonnie stated as she turned back around to dial his number and place it on speaker as if she had nothing to hide, Caroline stepped closer to the vanity.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't our resident judgey witch" boasted Damon through the phone, which made Caroline and Bonnie give each other a look of annoyance.

"Damon –" Bonnie barely got his name out before he cut her off

"Nope, nuh uh we're not doing this thing where you pretend to care that Elena and I are fighting" Damon interjected.

"Okay, that's fair because I don't, I truly do not care Damon, I just want to know why you always use me as an excuse to start an argument because – I don't even know why, maybe you're bored, maybe it's a cry for help, but your tantrums are not going to make me come home any faster, to coddle you and at this point, Elena is probably getting really tired of you using arguments as a form of some sick foreplay" Bonnie scolded.

"You're so lucky you have me on speaker - hey blondie I would like some privacy with ol' bon-bon here" Damon stated causing Caroline to scoff and look at Bonnie as Bonnie pleaded with her eyes for Caroline to step out of the room. Caroline rolled her eyes and smiled sarcastically at Bonnie before walking out of the bathroom.

"Take me off speaker Bon and turn on the sink" Damon ordered which Bonnie sighed and then complied.

"What Damon, you've earned me a very annoyed Caroline for at least the next hour" Bonnie looked up at the ceiling.

"I want you to do something for me" Damon stated.

"Hmm and what's that primadonna," Bonnie asked.

"I heard the mystery man is taking you two to Versailles today, I bought you a dress I made Caroline pack when I found out she was meeting you in France, you should wear it today.' Damon said with a deep sigh.

"Okay..thanks, but why did I need to be alone for you to tell me that" Bonnie curiously asked.

"I just needed a moment with you Bonnie" Damon said softly.

"He's really great you know, there's something about him that feels like home, he's the real deal Damon" Bonnie smiled into the phone.

Damon on the other end of the phone closed his eyes and winced as he forced a smile.

"I don't know, your track record is questionable Bon" Damon teased.

"Tell me about it, look at who I picked as a best friend' Bonnie teased back.

"Caroline isn't all that bad, she has her..perks" Damon and Bonnie both let out a laugh.

"I love you Damon, be good, grow up, I'll talk to you soon" Bonnie leaned against the wall and closed her eyes.

"I love you too Bonnie Bennett, I love you a lot, have the best time I'll talk to you soon," Damon responded.

They both stayed there on the phone for a moment before finally hanging up. Bonnie went to turn the sink off, which was Caroline's cue to come back in.

Bonnie and Caroline both finished getting ready and without mentioning the dress, Caroline brought it out for Bonnie to put on. It was a gold velvet corseted long dress with no sleeves and a high leg slit. Neither girl spoke about Damon buying the dress for Bonnie, instead focusing on how good it looked on Bonnie with her curls cascading down her shoulders. Caroline and Bonnie both worked on pinning an updo on Caroline leaving some hair out in front on the side to frame her face. Caroline put on a fluffy tulle off-the-shoulder pink dress Bonnie didn't remember seeing in her wardrobe.

Once Caroline had the dress on, she and Bonnie both did a mini photo shoot before hearing a knock at the door.

Caroline opened the door taking in both Bastien and Sabre who were both devastatingly beautiful with Bastien in an all-black ensemble, and Sabre in a long backless blue dress.

"Wow!" Caroline said.

"Yeah, same" Bastien agreed, before making his way inside.

Sabre eyed that Caroline had not yet put the jewels on and saw them sitting on a table and walked over to grab them.

"Thank you, I – I was about to put them on" Caroline looked in awe at the jewels again.

"No thank yous needed, here I'll help put them on" Sabre went to place the necklace around Caroline's neck.

"Thank you for the dress too, it's gorgeous, I promise I'll give it back" Caroline said softly under her breath where only they could hear while Bastien and Bonnie were holding each other at the other end of the room.

"Well, like I said, pink is your color" Sabre shot Caroline a smirk which made Caroline playfully roll her eyes.

"All right ladies let's head out" Bastien exclaimed taking Bonnie's hand.

On the drive to Versailles, Bonnie and Bastien couldn't keep their hands off each other, which Caroline first found jarring because she typically rarely sees Bonnie let her guard down like that in front of people. Sabre and Caroline found that they both actually got along well, and Sabre found it hilarious that there was something called Miss Mystic Falls but was genuinely curious about Caroline's world. Once they made it to Versailles Bonnie and Caroline were both in awe that they had Versailles all to themselves for the day and night. Bastien made sure to take as many pictures of the girls as possible, both feeling as carefree and happy as possible which they both hadn't felt in a while. After a lot of picture-taking and walking around the different corridors, Bonnie and Bastien both hid away somewhere to take advantage of having sex in Versailles which Caroline was slightly jealous about.

"I need a drink" Caroline stated which Sabre agreed.

As they made their way to the dining hall to wait for Bonnie and Bastien to meet for dinner Caroline started to feel a bit down.

"What is it?" Sabre asked.

"What? – No, I'm fine, I'm just getting a little tired" Caroline grabbed a glass of champagne and sipped on it.

"Caroline, I'm an empath I felt the drop of emotions, and clearly we have some time to kill" Sabre stated matter of fact.

"That must be so annoying" Caroline responded which made Sabre laugh and nod in agreement.

"Everything just feels so right, but also kind of wrong. I always pictured doing this stuff with Stefan, and we never got the chance to. It's the first time in a long time that we haven't been fighting a big bad that's trying to kill us, and I just wish this time could've been spent with the love of my life, we were supposed to be forever. What's the point of being a vampire if you can't spend eternity with your soulmate? Sometimes I can feel him around me, close but out of reach" Caroline mused, swirling her champagne.

"I'm sorry Caroline, I can relate in a way. I've loved, loved a lot in my centuries of being alive, but also, I've lost. Because I don't really age, I always had to end things before they got a chance to begin. And we, as Archambeaus have our own threats and big bads, which have always complicated things. My brother, he's the optimistic, hopeful one, I, on the other hand, see the constant threats to our family. "Sabre looked off into the distance before looking back at Caroline.

"Well, Bonnie and your brother seem to be a good fit, I haven't seen her like this so quickly with another person, like ever" Caroline took a bite of some fruit and cheese as she sat down at the table.

"Yeah, again, I see the constant threats to our family - he can be happy, and I'll be ready, always" Sabre stated in a more serious tone.

"If there's anyone you want in your corner it's Bonnie, trust me, throughout everything she's remained..good" Caroline argued.

"Time will tell won't it, also, you're hungry I can feel it." Sabre narrowed in on Caroline's face.

"I'm starving, I really don't want to try to listen for them to see if they're on their way in here…gross.. but I'm ready to eat for sure" Caroline plopped another strawberry in her mouth.

"No, I mean for what you need, as a vampire" Sabre continued.

"Oh, I'll be fine, I've gone much longer without blood, alcohol helps too" Caroline lifted her glass before taking another sip.

"Are you even a Vampire? You're so in control, I don't think you realize how impressive that is" Sabre complimented.

"I've definitely had my moments, I've killed, I've played with people's emotions, I've caused a mess of problems" Caroline stated.

"Yeah? Me too" Sabre took a bite of a strawberry and then incanted a spell to bring Caroline's glass of champagne towards her, which caused Caroline to jump. Sabre then took a knife from the table to the palm of her hand to cut it and pour drops of blood into Caroline's champagne, which caused Caroline's mouth to become dry and tried to not leap across the table.

Sabre sensed the hunger Caroline felt on a more intense level now, they both held direct contact as Sabre took the glass and dropped it on the floor which made Caroline feel desperate, hungry, and angry.

"It's okay" Sabre said softly, using some of her power to have Caroline trust her, before incanting a spell that made her appear behind Caroline as she wrapped her bloody hand around to the front of Caroline's mouth. Caroline hesitated and then grabbed it with both of her hands and fed from Sabre's hand. Caroline's eyes became veiny as she moaned and fought trying to feed too much, as the magical blood filled all her senses. Sabre was surprisingly enjoying the pain and the feeling of being fed on. Caroline then quickly vamp sped away to the nearest window breathing heavily and wiping the blood from her face with the back of her hand as she heard Bonnie and Bastien walk into the room.

Bastien could sense what Caroline was feeling and shot Sabre a concerned look as she laughed to herself and sat down at the table incanting a spell to herself to heal her hand.

"Caroline? Do I even want to ask why you're all the way over there?" Bonnie asked genuinely concerned.

"I was…enjoying the view of the gardens from here! You two are the ones that are acting all weird and secretive, nice for you to finally join us, we're starving" Caroline exclaimed, taking a seat next to Sabre.

After an awkward start to the dinner, they talked for a while before finishing up dinner to do more exploring before it was time to go.

After they returned to the chateau after a long day and night at Versailles, Bonnie and Caroline were exhausted from the day and ended up falling asleep together from staying up and talking. When Bonnie was fast asleep, Caroline got curious and went into Bonnie's mind, because Bonnie could let her guard fully down around Caroline, consciously and subconsciously, Bonnie let her.

When Caroline went into Bonnie's mind, she placed them at the boarding house before it was changed into the school.

"Bonnie" Caroline said softly as she stood behind Bonnie at the dining room table noting her hair straight and cut short, below her ears. Bonnie turned around to greet her friend.

"Caroline" Bonnie smiled.

"Come sit, I'm working on a crossroad puzzle, I need a word similar to something known as the first" Bonnie's eyebrows narrowed down to her crossword puzzle, Caroline took a peek at the puzzle as well.

"Original" Caroline laughed softly. Bonnie wrote in Original and shot Caroline a smile.

"Why did you bring us here" Bonnie asked, not being accusatory just more curious.

"Wow I must be bad at this, how did you know?" Caroline asked.

"I'm just too good" Bonnie joked.

"But really, there's a part of me that is extremely self-aware buried deep inside me, that part is being held back and I'm not entirely sure why, so I'm glad you're here, and brought us here, I probably won't think much of it when I wake up." Bonnie placed her pen down.

"What do you mean?" Caroline asked which slowly caused the house around them to rattle, Bonnie quickly changed the subject.

"I'm glad you came to be with me Caroline, you've always been able to really see me" Bonnie smiled warmly at her friend.

"Bonnie, I think you're falling in love, I've never seen you like this, so quickly" Caroline looked at Bonnie who looked down at the table and smiled to herself before looking back up at Caroline.

"I am, aren't I, it's nice, it already feels different, something solid, something that's mine. I don't have a nagging feeling that he's after anything else but me" Bonnie bit her bottom lip before getting up to grab the pancakes on the counter.

"You didn't feel that way with Enzo?" Caroline asked, which made Bonnie stop in her tracks to really think about it.

"No, I didn't, realistically it wouldn't have worked in the long run, too much of him reminded me of…Damon, if I'm being honest, looking back I think I was using him more than loving him like he loved me." Bonnie finally headed back to the table with a plate of pancakes.

"Bonnie, do you love Damon? And not like how you love all of us, but are you in love with him?" Caroline asked, seeing the house around them rattling again.

"In the prison world he made me pancakes, so many pancakes, I pretended to hate them but now I crave them all the time," Bonnie said absently looking at the pancakes.

"You have to go Caroline" Bonnie looked at something behind Caroline before looking back at her friend with a serious expression. Caroline tried to speak but was instantly pushed out of Bonnie's mind back and back into the real world. Caroline looked down at a peaceful Bonnie before heading into the bathroom for a blood bag. Not fully getting the answers she sought, and instead more questions that would be saved for another day.

As Caroline was drinking the blood, she was brought back to how good Sabre's blood tasted, how the magic in Sabre's blood tasted intoxicating. She was used to the scent of powerful blood from being so close to Bonnie all these years but finally getting to freely drink it was another experience. Caroline then became annoyed after realizing Sabre easily used her power to cause Caroline to not have any restraint anymore. After getting her bedtime snack she climbed back into bed with Bonnie and quickly fell asleep.

BBBB

A few days passed of exploring and Caroline getting to meet different "friends" of Sophia to talk about her experience as a vampire, the battles she's seen and the school she and Alaric created which impressed the different supernatural beings, and she invited them out to see it one day in hopes that their kids can attend the school, the fact that there were vampires there too was and would be a hard sell. Bastien and Bonnie grew closer as well, talking more about each other's lives, and Bastien still grew impressed at how much she had seen and accomplished at such a young age. Bastien loved hearing about how Bonnie ended up being around so many vampires, he once had a soft spot for their kind as well, which led to the death of his father, and only grew the disdain his sister had for vampires which is why it was so strange that she had grown a liking to Caroline. There was finally a night when a lot of the town and other members of different covens came to throw a party and meet Caroline and Bonnie.

"I don't think I've ever attended anything where the sole purpose was to meet me" Bonnie stated smoothing out her long black cocktail dress, as Caroline was placing little gold clips into Bonnie's long braids.

"It really is a whole different world out here, the closest I've come to something like this was a Mikaelson event" Caroline finally placed the last gold piece in Bonnie's hair, admiring their sleek black dresses in the mirror.

"Speaking of Mikaelson" Bonnie turned around to cross her arms at Caroline.

"How do you manage to always turn the coldest hearts warm?" Bonnie playfully asked, making Caroline blush.

"I have no idea what you're talking about" Caroline smiled back at Bonnie and turned around to put her shoes on.

"Seriously, Care, the reason I've spent so much time with Bastien is because you keep running off with Sabre, I barely get two sentences from her but yet the only reason I've seen what she looks like smiling is because of you." Bonnie walked over to Caroline to put her shoes on as well. Caroline shrugged.

"She's just..I don't know, a little misunderstood maybe? She knows I'm not intimidated by her and I think that goes a long way" Caroline stated.

"She also..doesn't really trust you, she may not like vampires but I guess she doesn't really trust your line because of some ancient drama, but I told her that I wouldn't even be here if it weren't for you and all the times you've saved us and Mystic Falls, she'll come around once she gets to know you Bonnie" Caroline smiled and placed a hand on Bonnie's shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm not so sure, nor do I need to prove myself to anyone, if she doesn't trust me - maybe that's a good thing," Bonnie said confidently straightening her shoulders.

"And that's why you're my best friend" Caroline and Bonnie both stood up and linked arms as they headed down to meet everyone.

It was a long night of talking magic, and different threats. Sophia told Bonnie how imperative it is to have more supernatural leaders meeting up like this, not just the supernatural's in France and the surrounding areas, because of different issues to come. Sophia said that a lot of the battles Bonnie and her friends faced alone could've been prevented by having more allies. As Bonnie continued to meet with Sophia and the different leaders, Caroline made her way to Bastien.

"Do you mind if we go outside? I'm needing some fresh air and need an escort" Caroline said to Bastien who nodded and excused himself from the conversation he was having with a group of supernatural astrologists.

"Caroline, what can we do to convince you to stay, I'm sure your daughters would love it here, and Sabre hasn't given as many murderous stare downs" Bastien joked.

"It really is beautiful here, but what you guys have done out here, I'm trying to accomplish back home in Mystic Falls, I'm more inspired than ever, plus their dad would have a huge problem with that" Caroline held onto his arm as they walked down the pathway into the gardens.

"Well you and your family are welcome here anytime, same with Matt, Elena, and Damon..am I missing anyone?" Bastien jokingly counted his fingers when naming the names, Caroline giggled.

"I don't think so, but Bonnie these days is so mysterious it's hard to tell! What I wanted to talk to you about is Bonnie" Caroline and Bastien sat down on one of the benches in the garden.

"I would love to talk about Bonnie" Bastien smiled warmly.

"I know you won't hurt her - if anything you're able to protect her and fight alongside her. She would kill me if I were talking to you about this, but her and Dam – " before Caroline could finish her sentence Bastien politely cut her off.

"I've been alive longer than anyone you know I'm assuming, and with that, I've been able to pick up things, with my powers or not, and what I've picked up from what my mom has hinted, what you have now hinted at and the way Bonnie talks about her past, it's easy for me to tell when there is something more behind what I've been told. I don't need to know the details of her and Damon, she says they've been through a lot, she's saved his life, he's saved hers, and they've grown the most beautiful friendship. When she talks about him, it's clear that there's a lot of love there, what kind of love, I'm not sure, but what I do know is at the end of the day they've made their choices, and I've made mine to trust her and to love her completely. Because I love her, I'll always have the utmost respect for you, Damon, and all her loved ones." Bastien stated.

"That is wildly mature, and I'm sure why it's been so easy for her to trust you. Either way, I think I've accepted that I'm now even further down on her priority list and I'm okay with that – if you make sure you both come visit for Christmas, I will not compromise on that" Caroline ordered and Bastien could feel that she was 100% serious.

"You've got yourself a deal, only if you promise to come to visit every so often as well, Sabre may have grown a liking to you but there's no way it would be enough for her to go to the States" Bastien shook his head smiling and noticed that Caroline's mood shifted as she blushed.

"I will, and when the girls get older, I may bring them too, thank you Bastien" Caroline smiled and then placed her head on his shoulder.

As Caroline's stay in France came to an end, she and Bonnie had a tearful goodbye and Bonnie promised to come home for Christmas. Caroline hugged Sophia, Sabre, and Bastien as well, thanking them for everything, and all the contacts Caroline now has for her school. When Caroline came home, she debriefed Alaric about her findings and how they now have solid contacts in Europe as well as possible students for the future. Alaric also brought up his concerns about Damon and Caroline agreed that at some point Damon will have to do the adult thing and either let go of Elena to tell Bonnie how he feels or let go of Bonnie and move on with his new human life. Elena and Damon were back in a better place after a few more months, Damon's bar was becoming a popular spot for NYC locals, and Elena was doing well in her residency. Bonnie and Bastien were rarely separated for too long and started traveling together leaving Sophia and Sabre to follow any leads they had on the imprisoned fourth ancient coven leader and his necklace. Different supernatural groups, witches, and vampires alike in Europe and Asia, sought after the power held in the necklace and set out to find the imprisoned leader to kill him to gain full control over his part of the necklace. Because the prophecy was supposed to be tight-lipped and only known by the coven leaders at this point, it had been a shock that in recent years more supernatural beings became interested in the urban legends surrounding the coven leader, the big battle centuries prior and the power held in the necklaces and what they could release once all joined together. Bonnie and Bastien made their way back home for Christmas that year, but just for Christmas Eve and Christmas day before Bonnie spent the rest of her holiday with Bastien and her mother. Elena and Damon were not able to make it down because of the holiday parties booked at the bar, but Elena and Stefanie were able to meet up with Bonnie and Bastien when they visited Bonnie's mother. A year had passed filled with more adventures, Elena and Caroline got to visit Bonnie a few times that year in 2023, and Bonnie promised that this year, they would spend the holidays together for a longer period, Bastien was excited about this so he could see more of Bonnie's childhood home that Caroline and Alaric helped take care of.

Willow was playing low on the drive to Mystic Falls, and Bonnie had swiftly fallen asleep as soon as she got in the car. Bastien squeezed Bonnie's hand to alert Bonnie that they were pulling into town.

"Welcome home my love, we made it," Bastien said softly with a smile as Bonnie slowly stirred awake.

"Mmm" Bonnie hummed wiping her eyes and looking out the window to her familiar hometown covered in snow and Christmas lights.

"Alaric and Caroline are excited to show you the renovations they made on your home since you've been away, I may have sent them some supplies and things to help make it feel like the Chateau as well, so you have the best of both worlds" Bastien pulled up Bonnie's hand to his move to place a kiss on it which made Bonnie smile.

Once they finally pulled in Bonnie immediately noticed the exterior of the house was now painted a forest green with deep dark wooden accents already decorated with white Christmas lights.

"Bastien" Bonnie said with tears in her eyes.

"The code to get in is 1992, I want you to walk through it first, I've seen a play-by-play all year, Merry Christmas baby" Bastien leaned over to place a kiss on Bonnie's lips which she returned before pulling back to smile at him.

"We will continue this later, I'll let you know when I'm done" Bonnie smiled as tears ran down her face not knowing what to say. She opened the door to the house and noticed the new herringbone wooden floors, the chandelier on the ceiling, and the crown molding throughout the house. She noticed that they had already put-up Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree she grew up with as well as pictures throughout the house of her and her loved ones. Bonnie couldn't hold back her sobs as she went through each room of the house noting how they'd combined aspects of her childhood, her and Bastien, and her magic. She made it up to her old childhood bedroom and saw that they made it into a beautiful guest room with different pictures of Bonnie, Elena, and Caroline around the room. Once she made it into the master bedroom, she noticed the large chandelier in the ceiling and the crown molding on the walls and ceiling, similar to the room she and Bastien share in the Chateau, and saw the different pictures placed of her and Bastien throughout the room. Once Bonnie took a moment to take everything in, she ran downstairs to the outside to pull Bastien out of the car into a long deep kiss and then dragged him inside to finish what they had started.

"I hate to do this to you, but everyone will be on their way in about an hour with food to celebrate your homecoming," Bastien said stroking Bonnie's bare back as she laid half on top of him. Bonnie groaned and kissed Bastien before finally getting back up.

"I'll never get over knowing that I'm yours," Bastien said admiring Bonnie's beauty as she walked towards the bathroom to take a quick shower.

"We have time for you to join me so I can keep reminding you that you're mine" Bonnie teasingly said, Bastien quickly got up to join her.

They quickly got dressed from the wardrobe that was already there for them, and Bastien made his way downstairs to grab their bags.

Bonnie opted to put on an oversized Whitmore sweater, and some leggings and threw her hair in a messy bun as Bastien came up with their luggage.

"I still can't believe Sophia is coming, we've talked about this day for years, when is she coming in again?" Bonnie stated as she grabbed the luggage to start unpacking.

"I'll be picking her up around 2 tomorrow, I'll bring her home first to get some rest, Caroline has big plans tomorrow but promised to be done by dinner so we all can go and get something to eat" Bastien checked his phone to confirm the time.

"Ah, of course, she does, I did promise her we'd stay longer this time for all of our festivities, thank you again for this, all of this" Bonnie walked over smiling to meet Bastien halfway as he bent down to kiss her. Soon after they heard knocks on the door.

"You ready?" Bonnie asked.

"I've lived my life to be ready for this moment" Bastien joked which made them both laugh.

As Bonnie walked down the stairs to the front door, she could hear Caroline barking orders to everyone.

Once she opened the door everyone yelled Merry Christmas with presents in their hands and food, first it was Caroline, Alaric, and the girls, then it was Jeremy with his pregnant wife, Matt came with them with his son and wife, and then finally it was a 4-month pregnant Elena an almost 3-year-old Stefanie and Damon. This was the first time Bonnie saw Damon in person in a few years, he had been busy with his bar and taking care of Stefanie while Elena worked and studied in the hospital. Seeing each other almost took both of their breaths away, Bonnie took in Damon who now had longer hair, some facial hair, and finally looked older in a more noticeably handsome way. Before Bonnie could say anything to Damon and Elena, their daughter squealed Bonnie's name and jumped into her arms. Bonnie hadn't seen her since a few months prior when Elena brought her to France with Caroline.

"Hello, my beautiful princess I've missed you so much!" Bonnie picked her up and spun her around which made Stefanie laugh and squeal.

Bastien looked up and saw Bonnie with Stefanie and Elena and Damon who he was also now meeting for the first time. Bastien excused himself from a conversation with Alaric and Jeremy and made his way to greet Elena and Damon.

"Elena, it's so good to see you" Bastien went in to give Elena a hug who returned the sentiments.

"And you must be Damon" Bastien smiled and held out his hand, Damon gave him a smile that didn't reach his eyes and shook Bastien's hand. It was at this moment that Bastien wished Damon didn't have on the ring Bonnie spelled to protect him and Elena from the effects of supernatural beings so he could read his emotions.

"It's nice to finally meet you" Bastien noted how Damon kept glancing over at Bonnie who was showing Stefanie the different decorations.

"Yeah, likewise" Damon handed Caroline the bag of food as she quickly came over to assess the situation.

"Thank you for your help in making this home possible, she loves it," Bastien said to Damon. Damon took the liberty of designing the kitchen for Bonnie.

"Anytime, the girl needs as much help as possible in the kitchen" Damon joked which made Bastien laugh.

"Hey, I heard that!" Bonnie yelled from the couch, now giving Stefanie to Jeremy's wife.

"I wouldn't want burnt toast from anyone else" Bastien yelled which made the surrounding people laugh.

"I'm going to oversee the madness Caroline has going on in the kitchen and help set up, again it's good to finally meet you, you have a beautiful family" Bastien patted Damon's shoulder and headed to the kitchen.

"Hey stranger," Damon said softly with a warm smile as Bonnie walked up to him.

"Hey" Bonnie responded with a smile that made Damon melt inside as they met each other for a hug. Bonnie breathed him in deeply and could smell Damon's infamous cologne mixed in with his own scent. Damon took in the smell of her hair and how she still smelled like sandalwood and vanilla, wanting nothing more but to stay there forever. They finally both stepped away from the hug, Elena made some glances over at them trying to ignore her gut feelings as she was catching up with Matt and his wife in the dining room.

"I have something for you, come with me," Bonnie said smiling at Damon as she grabbed his hand and ddd him upstairs which caught the eye of Elena and Caroline as Caroline sat down at the dining room table.

"Right here with everyone downstairs? Europe has really changed you witchy." Damon stated as they made their way to Bonnie's master bedroom.

"You just know me so well!" Bonnie said sarcastically rolling her eyes, which made Damon playfully wiggle his brows at Bonnie smiling devilishly.

"Stay right there" Bonnie ordered as Damon sat down on of the chairs in the bedroom as she made her way into the closet to grab a gift box.

She brought the box to Damon, who then placed it on his lap and studied it.

"Open it" Bonnie urged smiling widely.

Damon teasingly picked up the box to shake it next to his ear, which caused Bonnie to shake her head at him while laughing.

"Be serious" Bonnie ordered.

"Okay, Okay, it better be golden croissants" Damon joked as he opened the box and saw two crystal bourbon glasses. Damon picked one of the glasses up and inspected it.

"I had them custom-made by a shop in France, look at the bottom," Bonnie said excitingly and nervously.

Damon turned the glass over and saw on the bottom was Stefan's handwriting that read "I love you, brother." Which made Damon furrow his brows as his eyes began to water.

"I kept a picture of a letter Stefan had written you, one that Caroline sent to me, once you told me about your bar, Brother's Bourbon, I hope that's okay," Bonnie said with a concerned look as Damon placed the glass back in the box and sat the box down. Damon grabbed Bonnie's hand and pulled her on top of him to give her a tight hug.

"Bonnie, I don't deserve this, thank you," Damon said still holding Bonnie.

"Stop, yes you do, I'm sorry I've been away so long," Bonnie said back with tears welling her eyes, feeling slightly guilty for abandoning her best friend for the past couple of years.

"You have no idea," Damon said back letting a few tears fall onto her shoulder.

Bonnie pulled back to look at Damon and ran her fingers through his hair.

"I like this, you should keep it" Bonnie mused at his shaggy hair.

"Elena hates it, but Stefanie loves it, so she wins" Damon responded placing a hand on Bonnie's face, Bonnie laughed.

"I'm sure Elena hates the competition" Bonnie teased, which made Damon nod in agreement.

"So you're really going to go the distance with this guy," Damon said which made Bonnie sigh deeply.

"Yeah I think so" Bonnie playfully responded.

"I want you to come to NYC with me in two days, just you and me, you have to see it" Damon took in Bonnie's deep green eyes admiring them.

"If it gets me away from caroling, I'm in, Caroline has me most of the day tomorrow so we can definitely compromise, it'll be good, getting to catch up on everything" Bonnie went back in for a hug before standing up.

"You can leave that in here and grab it before you leave," Bonnie said as Damon was getting up from the chair.

After a long night of Christmas games and exchanging dirty Santa presents and different gifts Bonnie had gotten for everyone from France, it was time for everyone to leave. The next day Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena spent the day getting their nails done, buying clothes for the future baby boy Salvatore, and catching up on each other's lives. They took Sophia and Bastien out for dinner at the Mystic Grill and exchanged different stories that took place there which Sophia loved. Because Sophia didn't age her looks since no one really knew her in Mystic Falls, all the locals were fawning over her which made her laugh. Bonnie had mentioned that she and Damon were going to head to New York for the day early in the morning to catch up and see everything, Bastien and Sophia both caught Caroline's mood change and Elena's facial expressions, but no one interjected to make a comment about it, and Bastien trusted Bonnie completely and Elena pretended to trust Damon completely.

Once it was time for Damon to pick Bonnie up Bastien walked over to Bonnie to give her one last kiss.

"I'll be back in the morning," Bonnie said in between kisses.

"I know, Mom and I are meeting Caroline and Alaric at the school later today so thankfully I won't be sitting here counting down the minutes" Bastien teased.

"Don't let them recruit you, we are not staying here" Bonnie teasingly warmed.

"Oui Madameoiselle," Bastien said going in for another kiss as Damon's horn honked.

Bonnie rolled her eyes at Damon honking the horn when he could've texted her. Bastien and Bonnie, both made it down to the door, Bastien pulled Bonnie's beanie down to cover her ears and patted the fuzzy ball on top which made Bonnie laugh. As Bonnie opened the door, Bastien turned her around for another kiss.

"I love you, Bonnie Bennet!" Bastien exclaimed.

"I love you too" Bonnie responded. As Bonnie turned around to walk out the door Bastien slapped her ass as she walked out which made her squeal before closing the door. Damon rolled his eyes and furrowed his brows.

Bonnie made it to Damon's car and threw her overnight bag into the backseat before sitting up front.

"Did you really have to honk Damon, people are still sleeping" Bonnie said as she buckled her seatbelt.

"You clearly weren't" Damon shrugged before shooting her a smirk which made Bonnie give him an unapproving look back.

As they drove to New York City they both talked about the bar, Stefan, Damon's daughter and future son, and Bonnie's times with Bastien. For a moment it finally felt normal to freely talk to each other about their lives with no undertones of anything other than their bond. All Night by Beyonce had come on Bonnie's shuffle which caused her to briefly brush over Damon's hand as they both went for the volume, which made Bonnie feel a jolt of electricity through her which made her blush.

"When did you become a Beyonce fan?" Bonnie asked trying to shake the feeling.

"I pay for our shared Spotify account, remember? Sometimes if I happened to miss you, I'll put on your playlist, especially the times when you didn't believe in phones" Damon teased, which made Bonnie scoff at the comment, and then thinking about Damon listening to her playlists somehow felt weirdly intimate.

"Welcome back to the Big Apple, witchy," Damon said as they saw the skyline filled with buildings which Bonnie looked at in awe.

Bonnie got out her phone to take pictures of her surroundings while they were in the car. They then finally came up to Damon's upper east apartment near Elena's hospital.

"I wouldn't expect anything less from you Mr. Bigs" Bonnie eyed the exterior of the apartment.

"Hardly, it's a modest two bed one bath" Damon stated.

"Still, this is a really good area," Bonnie said getting out of the car and grabbing her bag from the back seat.

As they made their way up to the apartment, Bonnie noted how it smelled like Damon and smiled at the different family pictures that were up and looked at the ones of her and Damon up on the wall as well. Damon took her on a quick tour, before leaving her to get settled in the guest bedroom that doubled as Stefanie's room.

Bonnie took off her scarf, hat, and jacket and placed them on the desk in the room. She wanted to dress up as much as she could in the NYC winter since she had only one day to spend there. Bonnie put on a long-sleeved black catsuit with white chunky socks and black combat boots. She fluffed her hair that she had blown out prior to coming to Mystic Falls. She then sat at the desk to touch up her makeup in the mirror. She sprayed Kayali Vanilla perfume and grabbed her coat and purse before walking out of her room and into the living room where Damon was sitting going through his phone. He looked up and took in Bonnie's curves hugged tightly by her black catsuit and how her eyes looked greener than ever and sat his phone down.

"Ready?" Damon asked, still looking Bonnie up and down which made her feel warm and flustered before responding with a smile and nod. Bonnie put her jacket on and then headed out the door with Damon following her.

"It's on the lower east side, I won't make you walk the whole way, I have an uber coming" Damon said looking at his phone and then Bonnie who looked relieved that they wouldn't have to walk too far in the cold.

Finally, the Uber came playing obnoxious Christmas music which made Bonnie and Damon both look at each other and roll their eyes. After a few moments, they finally pulled up to Damon's bar, "Brother's Bourbon."

Bonnie took a picture of the outside and grabbed Damon's arm in excitement as he went to open the door. When they went inside Bonnie looked at the interior in awe, the design and color scheme were like the boarding house mixed with NYC dive bar charm, the lighting was dim and moody which Bonny loved.

"Here we can put your stuff in my office" Damon took Bonnie's hand and led her into Damon's small office behind the bar. Damon took Bonnie's coat off and lightly ran his fingers across her neck as he pulled her hair to the side which gave Bonnie goosebumps.

"Thanks - Damon, this place is magical, I can't believe how long it took me to get here," Bonnie said looking around at Damon's office, noticing the different pictures of Damon and Stefan.

"Yeah, me either, it would never feel real until it got the Bonnie Bennett approval, now that's when I know I made it," Damon said with a smirk looking down at Bonnie.

"Well, are you going to make me a drink or what?" Bonnie said poking Damon's side. Damon then grabbed her hand and led her to the bar to sit on one of the chairs at the bar. Damon then went to grab fruit, meat, cheese, and crackers, to make Bonnie a mini charcuterie board for lunch.

"Wow the full treatment, I'm honored" Bonnie exclaimed looking at the spread Damon laid out for her. Damon then turned on the music which started playing "Nothings gonna hurt you baby".

Bonnie looked through the drink menu as she nibbled on her spread and asked for several different drinks to be made, thankful they didn't have to drive anywhere. Bonnie and Damon both drank the different drinks and Damon took notes of Bonnie's likes and dislikes and they came up with a drink called "Witchy" which was an apple cider mixed with ginger beer, apple cider, bourbon, and fresh lemon juice.

As they both started catching a buzz, Bonnie decided to start a dance battle between her and Damon when the song "Starboy" came on which had them both laughing together and making fun of each other's moves. Bonnie tried to pull Damon in close to her and then tripped and brought them both down to the ground with Bonnie now on top of him as "Only in Dreams" was now playing on the bar playlist. They both stayed there for a second laughing and breathing hard, smelling the liquor on their breaths mixed in with their own scents. Bonnie's body started to betray her by feeling a sense of want, like an itch needing to be scratched, Bonnie laughed and played it off as she and Damon both got up. Bonnie was blaming the thoughts that shouldn't be there on the alcohol and was annoyed how Damon could somehow look even better with age. Bonnie headed back to her chair as Damon stayed where he stood before she got caught up in the moment, and her complicated feelings for Damon. She then quickly turned around and headed to Damon to grab his leather jacket and pull him down to her so she could kiss him. Damon responded hungrily by picking her up to place her on the bar, continuing to kiss her back before suddenly pulling away.

"I'm so sorry Damon, I cannot believe I did that, I'm not even that drunk, Oh my god" Bonnie placed her face in her hands.

"No, I'm sorry Bonnie, it's not you, god – you don't know how much I want to take you and fuck you on this bar, knowing that you're completely mine," Damon said with a scowl which made Bonnie lift her head back up to take in his hungry expression, surprised.

"No need to act surprised Bonnie, everyone but you can see that, how much I – ..it's not your fault, and if you even admit to me about feeling anything for me you'll forget everything by the morning, so I don't want you to forget this Bonnie, I need one memory of us to not be re-written in that mind of yours, I'm going to clean up and we're both going to move on and not bring this up to each other." Damon lectured which made Bonnie shake her head and place her head back in her hands.

"I have to tell Bastien" Bonnie stated.

"Good, I want you to" Damon retorted as he started to clean up around the bar.

"You have to tell Elena," Bonnie said looking back at Damon, which made Damon turn around to look at Bonnie.

"I've tried in the past, but I'll try again" Damon said exasperated.

"What do you mean in the past?" Bonnie asked with a confused look on her face. Damon started to laugh to himself.

"This situation is so fucked" Damon muttered to himself.

Bonnie couldn't make out what he said but quickly jumped off the bar to make herself a glass of water.

"I'm going home, tonight" Bonnie stated which made Damon roll his eyes.

"By all means Bon-bon do as you please, although I'm not sure how many Uber drivers are already on their way to Virginia" Damon responded.

"Just take me home so I can get my things and I'm leaving" Bonnie ordered, Damon finally pulled out his phone to call them both an Uber and texted his bar manager that he would not be in that night like he originally planned to be.

The Uber ride back was short and tense, with Bonnie storming up to the apartment the moment they parked, partly madder at herself than she could ever be with Damon, she had kissed him. She didn't like that her actions proved Caroline right as well, she didn't understand why she did what she did but also tried to understand what Damon was talking about and then remembered what Damon said after the kiss which made her blush and body betray her yet again. Bonnie made It to the guest room and took off her shoes and socks and climbed into bed to sleep for the next few hours. After Bonnie woke up, she checked her phone, responded to the missed texts, and called Bastien to talk to him for the next 30 minutes before getting off the phone to face Damon.

Bonnie walked out of the room slowly, arms crossed, and saw that Damon was in the kitchen making dinner.

"Rise and shine sleeping beauty" Damon shot her a smirk from behind the kitchen island as he was plating the food.

Bonnie rubbed her head vowing to never drink like that again.

"Do you remember?" Damon asked curiously whether her memory had been wiped, getting annoyed at this cruel song and dance they were forced to go through.

"Enough to be extremely embarrassed" Bonnie responded.

"I'm not telling Bastien we kissed," Bonnie said as she sat down at the kitchen island. Damon nodded to himself, relieved that she remembered.

"And I don't want you to tell Elena," Bonnie said which shocked Damon as much as it shocked her.

"And we don't have to leave until tomorrow," Bonnie said eyeing Damon's expression, annoyed he wasn't responding.

"Damon! Say something!" Bonnie demanded, which made Damon laugh.

"I will agree to all these demands, but I have to ask, why" Damon asked as he pushed the plate of pasta to Bonnie.

"Because I think it was something we both just had to get out of our system, I think we've blurred the lines too much and it's not going to happen again. Our group, we all have awful impulse control, which means we all have our secrets, and this gets to be ours" Bonnie said as Damon silently nodded.

"Seriously Damon, and your little comment about fucking me" Bonnie said looking around and whispering which made Damon laugh before taking a big bite of his pasta and closing his eyes at the taste of it which annoyed Bonnie.

"You know what, forget it, we were both drinking, and clearly you're having a mid-life crisis since your over a hundred years old, so it was honestly a cry for help," Bonnie said before taking a bite of her pasta, annoyed that it was that good.

"So, what's your excuse" Damon interjected.

"Honestly, maybe it was my last hurrah before I get married, it went no further than a 20-second kiss, so it's fine" Bonnie tried to soothe herself with her flawed, awful, logic and Damon decided not to bring up that it was him who unfortunately pulled away to stop anything that would come after the kiss.

"Get married?" Damon asked eating more pasted.

"Yeah, I think he's going to propose while we're here," Bonnie said smiling to herself, and Damon tried to ignore the pit he felt in his stomach as he was taking in the information.

"Well, congratulations Bon-Bon" Damon stated.

They then finished up eating dinner, changed the subject several times and Damon agreed to stream The Bodyguard probably one last time with Bonnie.

To be continued in chapter 11…

I swear in chapter 11 we are tying up all the time jumps to bring us to their present! Thank you everyone for being so patient!
