Shortly after landing, Cinder took on a pair of Creeps, bipedal Grimm with four eye slits, when Neo took out a third one behind Cinder.
Cinder smiled at Neo. "Thanks."
Neo nodded then the two girls double teamed their opponents and took them down.
Cinder smiled at Neo. "Let's go."
Neo nodded then they headed north.
Onyx walked with no urgency but soon saw Ember being overwhelmed by a large pack of Beowolves, bipedal wolf like Grimm. She drew her sabers then took a deep breath before charging forward and slicing through a lot of them, giving Ember an opening for some of them she was facing. The two girls soon had them beaten.
"Thank you." Ember said.
Onyx just nodded then the two headed north.
Lapis jogged north through the forest when she heard a blades clashing with something and investigated. She found Magenta fighting off Ursa, Grimm that looked like a bear, when another snuck up behind her. Lapis drew her sword and leapt at the flanking Ursa and stabbed it in the back of the head, causing it to his the ground with a small shake.
After looking at Lapis, Magenta killed the one she was facing off against then turned to Lapis. "Thank you." She said/signed.
Lapis smiled and nodded. "Shall we?" She asked/signed.
The winged girl nodded then they headed towards the temple.
Other pairings made were Emerald and Mercury, Simin and Lycan, and Vella and Ragora. All began to converge on the temple with Ember and Onyx being the first to arrive.
When they made it to the ruins they saw the relics were...
"...Chess pieces?" Onyx said.
"Some are already missing, so we weren't the first ones here." Ember said.
"Let's pick one then."
In Weiss's office, the group watched with everyone but Adam and Roman seeming disappointed.
"Certainly less extravagant than the gemstones we had during our initiation." Weiss said.
"Count yourself lucky that you got those. We had playing cards as our relics." Coco said.
Ember picked up a White Knight piece. "How about this cute little pony?" She asked.
"Sure." Onyx said.
"That was easy."
"Not that hard to find this place." Onyx grinned.
"You could say that again." Mercury said as he and Emeral approached them, an Ursa dissolving behind them.
Emerald picked up a White Rook piece. "I'd say we have our relic." She said to Mercury.
"Okay, then. That's our relic." The gray eyed boy said boredly.
Gunfire was soon heard and the four saw Magenta and Lapis flying to them with the latter firing her rifle at a Nevermore, a large bird like Grimm. Cinder and Neo were running from a Deathstalker, a large scorpion Grimm as all eight stood together.
"What now?" Ember asked.
"We grab relics and make for the cliffs." Lapis said, signing to Magenta. "We only fight these things if it comes to that."
"Sounds like a plan." Neo's Scroll said.
Cinder grabbed the other White Rook while Lapis grabbed the other White Knight then they all ran until they reached a cliff where the Nevermore cut them off.
"Great. That oversized turkey's cut is off!" Onyx said.
Cinder saw the Deathstalker gaining on them. "Run!"
They all ran for the bridge, but the Nevermore destroyed part of said bridge, stranding Lapis, Ember, Onyx, Cinder, and Emerald on one side with Magenta, Mercury, and Neo on the other side with the Deathstalker.
"They need help!" Cinder said.
"I can get us across." Emerald said.
Cinder nodded then Emerald used Thief's Respite to get the two of them across the gap, Cinder creating shards of black glass and firing them at the monster as they landed. Cinder closed her fist and caused an explosion to happen.
Emerald jumped back to avoid the stinger, unintentionally knocking Magenta off the bridge. She began flapping her wings and got to the Nevermore before using Twin Talons, her weapon, to try slashing at it to no effect. When it failed, she landed with Lapis, Ember, and Onyx.
"That thing is very tough!" She said/signed.
"Then let's hit it with all we have!" Onyx said.
Magenta saw Lapis translate then she nodded as Lapis turned Blood Blade into an automatic rifle while Ember turned her spear, Cheetah's Wrath, into a longbow then Magenta turned Twin Talons into a rapid fire crossbow and Onyx combined both sabers of her weapon, Ocean's Rage, into one and loaded a cyan Dust crystal into the hilt. All four girls fired on the bird, but did little to no damage as it destroyed the ruins they stood on.
All four made it to safety as Magenta then growled. "Nothing's working!" She said.
Lapis looked at each of the three with her before turning Magenta to look at her. "What's your Semblance?" She asked while signing.
"Mirror. It allows me to use other people's Semblances." The winged Faunus replied as Ember and Onyx ran to them.
"I have a plan, then." The silver eyed girl said then told them her plan.
Meanwhile, the Deathstalker pulled its stinger out as Cinder looked the Emerald, Mercury, and Neo.
"Let's move!" She said then the four got closer to the monster.
Neo and Cinder used their blades to keep the pincers separated while Emerald fired her guns at the monster before grabbing onto its stinger and firing at it.
Mercury fired off his boots at the monster before Neo and Cinder jumped back. The latter of the girls combined her twin swords, Midnight, to form a now and shot an arrow at the beast, hitting one of its eyes. This angered it and sent Emerald flying back.
"Emerald!" Mercury said as the red eyed girl hit a part of the ruins.
Neo noticed the stinger was loose and types on her Scroll. "Cinder!" The voice on her Scroll said.
"Done!" The taller girl said before shooting another arrow, this one at the stinger, causing it to come loose and jam into the monster. "Mercury, step on it!"
"Neo, heads up!" He said and the tri toned girl opened her parasol as Mercury jumped onto it. She jumped at the same time he fired off his boots, giving him an extra boost into the air. As he reached the height of his jump, he crossed his ankles with his hands behind his back and a smirk on his face before getting serious again and divebombing the monster, his boots slamming onto the stinger before firing them off again, getting all three off the bridge as Emerald trudged the them.
Neo kept her in her feet as the Four of them watched Lapis, Ember, Magenta, and Onyx fighting the Nevermore. Onyx slashed hardlight Dust waves at it incessantly before jumping down to another bridge. Magenta fired several ice Dust bolts at the Grimm after it slammed into the cliff trapping it there by its tail feathers.i
Ember fired a grappling hook from a small baton Lapis gave her and Onyx caught it rope then Lapis landed on it and Ember let more of the rope out. Magenta used a black glyph to catch Lapis.
"This is a smart plan, Lapis." The deaf girl said/signed.
"Think this is a shot you can make?" Lapis asked/signed.
Magenta smirked and nodded. Lapis smirked back then Magenta let the glyph disappear and Lapis flew to the giant bird and pinned it there by jamming her sword into its throat, killing it then she jumped up to the top of the cliff as the Nevermore dissolved.
"Well...that happened." Magenta said as she signed it.
Everyone in Weiss's office was stunned silent. They couldn't believe these young upstarts made it through an attack by two large Grimm with no fatalities.
"Selene's become too strong." Ruby said. "We need to keep a close eye on Beacon till we're ready for the final phase of the plan."
"We should gauge students from the other schools as well." Blake suggested.
"The Vytal Festival is the best to do that. People from across the world will be there." Weiss said. "The SDC will be providing Dust for the tournament.
"Good idea. I'll speak with the three others in the Vale Council about hiring the Burning Suns as security." Yang said.
"Then I'd say we're covered for the day." Ruby said.
"Lycan Arcadia, Simin Megistus, Vella Moisia, Ragora Cinarum. you four retrieved the Black Bishop pieces. From now on, you will work together as...Team SLVR. Led by Simin Megistus." Selene said.
Simin nodded then Team SLVR walked off the stage.
"Cinder Fall, Trivia Vanille..." Selene started then cleared her throat when Neo didn't look happy. "Neopolitan, Emerald Sustrai, Mercury Black. The four of you retrieved the White Rook pieces. From now on, you will work together as...Team CMSN. Led by Cinder Fall."
Cinder nodded then Team CMSN walked off the stage.
"Finally, Lapis Lazuli, Magenta Magnolia, Ember Gold, Onyx Branwen. The four of you retrieved the White Knight pieces. From now on, you will work together as...Team LEMO. Led by...Lapis Lazuli."
Lapis smiled softly and nodded while Magenta had looked at an interpreter as Selene addressed the Four girls.
"This may be an...interesting year."
