In stark contrast to the scorched, destroyed wastes of Costa Brava, the best stands glittering and shining beautifully in the light of the setting sun. At a lovely city park, Disco John dances his way down a path, passing by a man sitting on a bench.
"Hey it's me Ghor." says the man, watching John pass.
"Cool, I've never heard of you." says John.
"Me neither."
"Cool, I'm Disco John."
"Hi Disco John, I'm Dad!" says Dad.
"Oh." Disco John comments. Suddenly, from a nearby puddle, a cryptonic creature known as the Ladle Monster emerges, causing Ghor to feel an emotion in the brief period it remains surfaced for. When the creature vanishes back into the puddle, it leaves behind a low-quality photoshop of what it may have looked like.
"Disco John more like Disco SCREEEEE BOOM." Ghor declares, making a tire squealing noise followed by a loud thudding sound.
"Bruh" says the Ladle Monster, making a brief reappearance before descending back to the depths of its puddle. Disco John for some reason seems highly aggravated by the noises Ghor is making, and starts going on a long rant. Ghor seems confused by John's anger, because he was just making funny noises. A legendary cryptid hunter named Quatch rushes over to the scene, beelining to the puddle and picking up the photoshop image, showing it to Ghor and John.
"Did you guys see this creature?" asks Quatch.
"I dids! I done saw it say a funny word." Ghor affirms.
"He said the bruh word." Disco John adds.
"Where did it go? I managed to track it all the way here, but the tracks stop at this point! It has to be close!" Quatch says.
"It sank to the bottom, you'd better be quickly." Ghor indicates, pointing at the puddle. Quatch wastes no time in taking out a long snorkel tube and diving into the puddle, which is much deeper than it looks. Once Quatch is out of sight, Ghor approaches Disco John and uses a technique he learned in the Peruvian military to punch straight through John's head, killing him. John's body does the rare death animation where it keeps dancing for a few moments, before collapsing onto the ground right next to the puddle. Ghor heads out to get a drink, planning to return later.
As Quatch descends into the abyssal puddle, he realizes that he's run out of snorkel length, so he heads back to the surface and takes out his laptop to communicate with his assistant, a cryptid he hunted in his early days who ended up becoming a close friend and assistant to him. Quatch can only communicate with them through an obscure chatroom, since, as a cryptid, face-to-face communication is nearly impossible.
'You there?' Quatch types in chat.
"Yeah" responds the creature from the lagoon, known as Lagon.
'I need you to come over here with some of my diving gear, I'm hot on the ladle's tail.'
"Hi hot on the ladle's tail, I'm Dad!" says Dad, who Quatch hushes.
"I'm already here, that's why I'm talking to you and not typing." Lagon says, a detail which Quatch completely failed to realize.
"My bad. Do you have the diving gear?" Quatch asks out loud.
"What?" Lagon responds.
"I said, do you have the diving gear?"
"Did you forget that I can't hear?"
Quatch facepalms, cursing his rotten memory. He goes back to typing in the chatroom.
'Do you have the diving gear? Four or five of the big boy snorkel extensions should do the trick.'
"Sure thing." Lagon rummages through a toolbox, procuring five rubbery snorkel extenders that are shaped like overweight children and twisting them onto Quatch's snorkel. Quatch looks at Lagon to give him a thumbs up, forgetting that since Lagon is a cryptid, he disappears the moment someone sees him. Despite this, Quatch got what he needed, so he begins the descent once more, eventually emerging from the water into the deep puddle cave system. Quatch spots a local resident of the cave system, a sad man named Slurpum, and takes off his snorkel mask to speak to him.
"Have you seen a ladle passing through here?" Quatch asks.
"Yep, swooped right past me and snatched my wallet before running away to the southern sector." Slurpum responds, taking a loud sip of his drink through a straw. Quatch nods in understanding, marching directly into the loading zone of the southern caves, with Slurpum tagging along. A loading screen message warns of the danger presented by the Ladle Monster, while giving Quatch the opportunity to spin around a 3d model of the monster while he waits for the area to load in. After a suspiciously long loading time, the relatively small area loads.
"It's on you to figure out where it went, I'm just here for my stuff." Slurpum says.
"Hi just here for my stuff, I'm Dad!" Dad remarks, peeking out from a nook in the wall. Quatch walks over to the nook and peers in, seeing a large cranny inside. Squeezing through the gap, Quatch enters the Ladle's Lair, which is filled with stolen valuables and kitchenware. Slurpum follows Quatch in, and spots his wallet, pocketing it before taking another loud sip from his glass. The slurping noise echoes throughout the chamber, drawing the attention of the Ladle Monster, which begins menacingly waddling up behind Quatch. Quatch whirls around at the last second, and starts trying to wrangle the monster, grabbing it by its long handle. The Ladle Monster manages to overpower Quatch, dragging him away through a puddle and ejecting him into Crypto Canyon, leaving him stranded in the crypto-zone without any of his equipment. Slurpum watches Quatch and the monster disappear, but shrugs since that's not his problem, and orders some socks online to replace the ones that he keeps getting wet.
Ghor comes back to the park, refreshed and ready to practice his technique on anything he can find. Ghor comes across a large standing mirror, and upon punching through the mirror, he pierces through to the mirror world. Ghor grabs hold of his mirrored counterpart, rohG, causing rohG to do the same to him. Both parties attempt a simultaneous suplex, resulting in Ghor and rohG levitating momentarily before being slammed into the ground. Ghor and rohG get back up, and they run towards one another, preparing to use the military technique. Before either can land the attack, though, Ghor Father appears between them, punching through both of their heads simultaneously, which is his way of putting the rambunctious gentlemen in time out.
Deep in the woods, a synthetic fungus-based lifeform named Peaswy is running for his life, scrambling through the underbrush and over roots as a tremendous monster pursues him. As he's running, Peaswy's attention for some reason fixates on one specific thin tree, a specimen known as Cyathocalyx Zeylanicus. Peaswy dives behind the tree, peeking out through the twiggy branches as the monster enters a nearby clearing, looking around and sniffing the air. Its beastly eyes fixate on Peaswy, and it lets out a guttural roar, forceful enough that Peaswy has to hold on to Cyathocalyx to not be blown away. The beast stomps towards Peaswy, reaching towards him with a wrecking ball sized hand, but just as all hope seems lost, a loud creaking can be heard, and two enormous logs swing down from the taller trees to the sides, squashing the monster's head between them. Peaswy stares at the colossal corpse as it slumps to the ground, a small earpiece falling to the ground next to the spot where its head was. Peaswy's consciousness begins to fade, the exhaustion of running for hours on end catching up to him as he collapses next to Cyathocalyx.
"Kzzzt RUNQUA MY QUNQUA kzztzzzzt HOW DARE kzzzztzztt" a voice crackles through the fallen earpiece, filled with hatred and despair, before becoming too garbled to make out.
