Chapter 21: Snowfall
Robbeeyy: Jaune won't start healing until the Patch act and yes, Deery will be joining the Huntresses for now and is rather suspicious that Ironwood wants the Huntresses taken in.
blaiseingfire: While they won't be interacting a lot in this Act, hints at their shared history will be revealed and in the future of the story, I plan on having them interact much more.
Friend: Thank you for the videos on faith, I'm not having trouble with believing in god as I'm not very religious, but once again, thank you.
A/N: I've been thinking a lot and I don't want to write everything down at the beginning of the Chapter so read the chapter before reading what I have to say. It's not about future plans for the story, but about how this story has affected me.
If you want to read what I have to say, go to the end of the chapter, read that, and then read the chapter.
Anyway, here we go!

Jaune, Fiona, and Deery finished shopping for clothes and left the store, thankfully, there was only one bag that was filled with clothes that Jaune needed, which was being stored with Fiona's semblance.
Fiona walked next to Jaune and smiled as she patted him on the back, "See, did you enjoy yourself?" Fiona asked.
Jaune gave her a quick nod but didn't look at her, "Yeah," He said with his lackluster tone, "Thank you," He told her.
Fiona rolled her eyes, "Don't mention it," She said, still smiling. Fiona then turned to Deery, "If Robyn lets you join, you're gonna be wearing the uniform," Fiona told her, gesturing at her own clothes.
Deery looked at her with a raised brow, "Uh, do I have to? I kind of like how this fits me," Deery told the sheep faunus, pointing at her own clothes.
Fiona shrugged, "You might be able to keep them, the Uniform is just what the four of us like to wear to represent us, but as long as you got the pin, you're one of us," Fiona told her.
As the two were talking and they were all with that the three made their way back toward the base, Jaune felt a sensation on the back of his neck, one that told him, trouble was incoming. So he stopped and turned around to look only to see two girls approach them from behind, one definitely appeared to be from Atlas.
It was Ciel and Penny.
Penny appeared to be unarmed while Ciel had a cutlass strapped to her side as well as a holster that held what appeared to be a six-shooter on her other side.
Jaune glared at the two girls as they continued to approach and knew he needed to notify Fiona. "Fiona, 6:00," Jaune said.
Fiona and Deery turned around only to see the two girls walking toward them, and Fiona recognized the uniform that Ciel was wearing as the uniform that some cadets wear in Atlas Academy.
"Shit," Fiona said. She went for her staff but realized that she had left it back at the base, 'Damn it! How could I have been so stupid to leave my weapon back there!?' she thought.
Noticing this, Jaune stepped in front of the two as the girls finally stood in front of them, and he looked at Penny and Ciel, the two noticed his defensive behavior but did not back down.
"Excuse me, I am Ciel Soliel and this is Penny Polendina, we're looking for members of the Happy Huntresses," Ciel told him, "You wouldn't have seen any of them, would you?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
Jaune knew she was being coy and was annoyed, so he decided to play along, "No, haven't seen them," he replied.
"Really? Then what is Fiona Thyme, a known member of the Happy Huntresses doing behind you?" Ciel asked.
Under his cloak, Jaune grabbed his sword, preparing for the worst. "What do you want with her?" Jaune asked.
Penny and Ciel felt something dark and foreboding coming off the tall blonde boy, it felt like they were being looked down on by Ironwood, but it was much more malevolent.
Ciel gulped out of nervousness and prepared for the worst, "We have been tasked with apprehending them and bringing them in to speak with General Ironwood,"
'Ironwood himself wants to talk to them? Why?' Jaune asked. "Why does he want to talk to them?" he asked.
Ciel glared at him, "That's classified,"
Jaune glared right back at her harder, "What if she doesn't want to come along?" Jaune asked.
Ciel looked at him and despite something inside of her that was screaming to back away, she didn't. "I wasn't asking," She told him sternly.
With that confirmed to Jaune, he quickly unsheathed his sword and swung it at Ciel, but the girl narrowly avoided the attack and jumped backward, Penny was shocked and turned to Jaune only to see him appear right in front of her and struck her in the face with his shield and Penny stumbled backward.
Jaune turned back around and looked at Fiona and Deery, "Get out of here now!" He told them.
Fiona stepped forward, "But-!"
Jaunw growled, "DAMN IT! DO AS I SAY!" Jaune yelled.
Fiona wanted to help him but she realized that she wasn't going to be much help, so she grabbed Deery's hand and ran away.
Ciel saw the two run away and tried to go after them, but Jaune stood in her way and attacked her again, Ciel managed to unsheath her cutlass and blocked his attack. She then unholstered her gun and aimed it at Jaune, pulling the hammer back, but Jaune raised his shield and blocked the shot.
Jaune then kicked her away and put distance between himself and Ciel, only to see six swords shooting down at him, his eyes widened with shock but then he dodged all of them and saw that it was Penny, and he growled at her. Jaune then rushed at her and she was shocked, and she pulled her swords back with her wires but Jaune was already close and he pushed his aura into his sword and pulled it back before thrusting it forward, but Penny dodged the attack only to be kneed in the stomach.
Penny felt her aura take the blow, and she winced at the impact as she fell to the ground, Jaune was going to strike her in the face with a shield to knock her out, but he then heard two gunshots and felt the impact of two bullets in his back and stumbled forward slightly. The blonde knight turned around to see Ciel with her gun pointed at him, and an angry expression on her face.
"You've attacked two Atlas Cadets, you do realize this makes you a criminal right?" Ciel asked.
"You think that scares me?" Jaune asked with a glare.
Suddenly, both girls could feel that uneasy feeling they had before growing and getting darker, and they figured out that it was coming from Jaune. Jaune could feel the same sensation he had back at Mistral rising up inside of him, he could feel the pull of the Beowulf's influence breaking through. The two girls felt something inside of them screaming, screaming to run away, screaming that something in front of them was going to kill them.
In an instant, both girls believed that they had been stabbed or cut by Jaune, but when they came to their senses, they saw that they hadn't, that Jaune remained in the same place he was, and their expressions became more fearful.
Jaune then noticed the frightened expressions on their faces and Jaune knew what they were feeling because he wore the same expression when he was face to face with Raven for the first time. It was the face of a person who realized they were up against a monster in human form, something Jaune knew he was.
"You can either walk away and leave me alone, or... I can kill the both of you here and now," Jaune told them.
"Will you surrender and be robbed? Or will you fight and die young Arc?" Raven asked.
Those words from Raven entered his mind, thinking about how he was now in her position.
Both girls felt fear, but they looked at each other and gave the other a nod before looking back at Jaune and charging at him, Ciel swung her sword at him but Jaune deflected the blade and kicked her away before he noticed Penny's swords floating next to her only for them to shift and take the appearance of a gun. Jaune was right as the swords fired green beams at him and he quickly dodged at attacks, but Ciel came in for another attack and this time managed to slash him across the shoulder, Jaune felt the impact from his aura and winced.
Jaune then growled at her and that's when he saw the gun aimed right at his face, she pulled the trigger and Jaune felt the impact from it and was sent flying backward.
While that should have caused more damage, he thankfully boosted his aura just in time for the impact to not hurt as much as it should have. Jaune then got up and glared at the two, he could feel his anger growing and felt the Beowulf slowly coming out, ready to taunt him and cheer him on to kill. However, Jaune didn't want to kill them, but he wasn't going to leave them unharmed any longer.
'Time to see if Robyn's trick she came up for me works,' Jaune thought to himself.
Jaune then boosted his aura, but then put his aura into his blade while boosting it, he kept boosting his aura and focused on putting it into the sword and when it felt right, he rushed at Ciel and Penny with his blade at the ready.
The two girls saw him coming and aimed their weapons and fired their guns at him, but Jaune was able to dodge and block the bullets with his shield, and when he finally got in close, he quickly slashed and bashed Penny in the face with the end of his shield, causing her to fall back and actually dazing the robot. Jaune then turned to Ciel and with a quick and fluid motion, Jaune cut her across her midriff.
Ciel prepared herself for the attack, however, instead of feeling the impact of the attack like one who had aura would usually, she felt the sharp sting of her flesh being sliced. The young cadet's eyes widened with horror as Jaune kicked her in the chest and she flew back a bit and landed on the ground.
When she got up, she felt the col air where Jaune had slashed her and she touched it and felt her shirt was torn, and the fear from feeling that went up because her shirt was cut...
'Impossible! It... It can't be! I-I have to be imagining things!' Ciel cried in her mind as fear began to take over her mind.
Wanting confirmation, Ciel looked down to her midriff and she felt frozen. Blood stained her hand and her shirt, the cut was not too deep to cause major blood loss, but deep enough to cause pain and leave a scar.
'H-How...!? How did he cut through my aura!? It should be impossible!? Is he using a dust blade!? is it this man's Semblance!? Yes! That has to be it! That has to be it!' Ciel thought, her mind trying to rationalize what had just happened.
To be fair to Ciel, she wasn't far off, it was thanks to Jaune's semblance that he was able to cut through her Aura.
See, when Robyn understood how Jaune's Semblance worked, she theorized that when he was in a boosted state, his aura reached limits that others were unable to do, and because his aura, the very representation of his soul, was at a higher state, she concluded that Jaune could cut through another's aura.
The way Robyn explained it was that Jaune would push his aura into his sword and boost the aura that was in the sword, which would allow it to cut through to another's aura. However, it was Jaune cutting away aura and then cutting, no, it was Jaune's aura overpowering others.
Think of how a knife could stab a plastic bottle, while it was easy, there was resistance. However, let's say the knife was heated to the point it glowed red, then you stabbed the bottle, there was far less resistance and one could penetrate the bottle with ease.
Jaune essentially did that, Jaune "Heated" his sword with his aura and he was now able to overpower and in a sense, bypass one's aura.
Of course, for this to work, Jaune needed to find out if he could boost a single part of his body, and after focusing and remembering some advice Ren had given him about Aura manipulation, he was able to figure out how to boost his aura in a single part of his body and even allow said boosted aura to be boosted while in a non-organic thing.
But this was the first time he was truly using it in action, and it was a success.
He saw Ciel get up and then also heard Penny getting up from behind him, and Jaune quickly turned around to the still dazed Penny and slammed his pommel right into her head, and because his Aura had been boosted, the pommel actually strick Penny in the head and knocked the robot out.
Jaune then turned back to Ciel who got up and took a fighting stance, but Jaune could tell she was shaking, and it was either due to her own fear or her wound, maybe it was both, but Jaune didn't care.
He slowly walked toward her, and as he did, Ciel could feel his killing intent, when she looked at him, she looked into his eyes and when she did, she saw the look of a hunter, the look of a predator that was eyeing its prey, ready to strike and ready to kill. It frightened Ciel, she was horrified of the blonde teen to the core, and yet... she couldn't stop a smile from gracing her face.
'I'm terrified, scared to the very core, and yet... yet I can't help but love how he's looking at me!' Ciel cried to herself. 'I want him to look at me like that, to tear me apart like a beast! Ravage me! DO IT!' Ciel thought with glee.
However, before Jaune could get close Ciel, a large white Beowulf charged at Jaune, and the Blonde saw it coming and quickly dodged its claw and killed it by slicing its neck, however, after the Beowulf faded away, Winter appeared right in front of the boy and thrust her saber right into his chest, and the impact to the Knight was so strong that Jaune was thrown backward.
Jaune winced in the pain and he quickly got up only to see some soldiers coming toward him with their weapons raised and aimed at him.
A part of Jaune told him that it was better to surrender and not make the situation worse, however...
"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" came the deep and hearty laugh of the Beowulf as it rested its head on Jaune's right shoulder. "Doesn't this feel familiar? I bet the outcome would be the same! We could do it! Kill them all and escape! Come on! You're still dying to let out all that rage! to feel your blade carving through the bodies of the weak! feeling their warm blood on your face! Come on! Come on! Come on! LET'S FUCKING KILL THEM AAAALLLL!"
Jaune hand gripped the blade tighter, as the words the beast was spewing were getting to the young knight, and he did in fact, feel the urge to kill, but he was brought back when he remembered that this would only make things worse for him, and for Fiona and the others. However, Vernal's face flashed into his mind.
'Right... I still have to see her... I have to see her again when I'm stronger... when I'm better... when I'm not a monster anymore,' Jaune reminded himself.
Jaune's grip loosened and he calmed himself down, he even felt the Beowulf's presence disappear and looked at the soldiers that now surrounded him from all sides, he then saw Winter approaching him with Ciel, who was holding her cut and looking at the ground with an angry expression.
Winter eyed Jaune up and down and then looked to see some soldiers pick up Penny as she was unconscious and saw Ciel's cut and then right back at him, "You fought these two, correct?" Winter asked.
Jaune looked at her but didn't answer her question, which was a clear answer for Winter.
"He knows the Huntresses Specialist," Ciel said with an angry tone.
Hearing this, Winter peered at Jaune, "Is that true?"
Jaune glared at her, "Go to hell," He told her.
From behind, a soldier struck Jaune in the back of the head and the blonde fell to his knees as he felt the barrel of the soldier's gun pressed against the back of his head, and another two took his weapons and cuffed his hands behind his back. He was then lifted up to his feet, pushed forward, and led somewhere.
Winter watched as he was taken away and then looked at Ciel, "Are you ok?" She asked.
Ciel shook her head, "No... I want that man to pay, he... he humiliated me!" Ciel seethed with anger.
Winter was a bit shocked to see Ciel so angry but to her, she understood that the young cadet could feel humiliated, she had lost a fight and needed to be saved on what was deemed a very important mission from the general himself.
However, in truth that is not what was angering the young cadet, was angered her was that she was... turned on by the ferocity of Jaune and that she had felt joy from being in such a compromising position and believed that everyone had seen her in such a state. She was not going to let such humiliation stand, she was not going to let him get away with what he did to her.

Later, up in Atlas Academy, Jaune was sitting in a cell, he was put on his knees and his legs were cuffed to the ground and his hands were still cuffed behind him but here connected to another pair of cuffs that were connected to the ground. His weapons were stipped as was his armor and cloak, leaving him with just his clothes.
Jaune simply sat there bored and wondering when Ironwood was going to talk to him as he looked at the ground, he knew Ironwood would talk to him, after all, he protected Fiona and attacked two of his students, so he had to come talk to him.
Suddenly, Jaune heard his cell door open and looked up, expecting to see Ironwood, but wasn't the General, it was Ciel.
Jaune looked at her with a raised brow, "What do you want?" He asked. 'Is she here to bring me to the Ironwood?' Jaune asked himself.
However, Ciel didn't answer him with words, The answer to Jaune's question came in the form of a fist to his face, because the cuffs were dampening his aura, he felt the punch connect to his cheek and he nearly fell over.
Jaune growled as he looked at her, "What the hell was-!?"
But before June could finish, Ciel jammed her foot right into his gut, causing the young knight to lose all the air in his body. Ciel then grabbed his hair and pulled up and then pulled his head backward to look up to the cell's ceiling, but she blocked his vision and looked down at him with a glare.
"You humiliated me, you bastard!" Ciel spat at him. "You embarrassed me in front of everyone!"
Ciel threw his head back in the position it was before and she bent down to look at him, "I'm gonna make you pay! I'm gonna make sure you remember what you did to me!" She told him.
Jaune looked up at her with a shit-eating grin, "Well, do your worst then, but there isn't a damn thing you can do to me that I haven't felt before," he smugly told Ciel.
Ciel glared at him but with a faint blush and a smile, "We'll see about that," She told him.
Ciel couldn't stop smiling, She didn't know why, but for the second time today with the blonde in front of her, she experienced a new feeling and it was much like the first, but this feeling was telling her to make the boy bow to her, worship her, and make him obey her. She liked this feeling, it was making her forget the previous humiliation that the blonde had put her through.
She kicked Jaune in the side and she heard the boy wince in pain, she then grabbed Jaune by the neck and forced Jaune to look at her, and when she did, she saw the resistance in the boy's eyes, but instead, she wasn't angry, she was happy that he was resisting because it would make breaking him so much better.
Ciel pulled her fist back, only to be stopped by another person's hand grabbing her wrist and she froze, She turned to see that it was Winter who had stopped her and a sense of dread flowed through her.
"What are you doing, Cadet Soliel?" Winter asked with a stern tone.
"Specialist Schne I-"
"Doesn't it matter what she was doing?" Jaune's voice cut in. The blonde then looked to Winter with a bored expression. "Are you taking me to Ironwood or what?" He asked,
Winter wanted to reprimand her cadet, knowing fully well the girl was beginning to beat up an unharmed and restricted prisoner, which was not something she was going to let slide, but with Jaune apparently not going to say a word about it, she did not press the matter further and so she walked over to Jaune and uncuffed his feet and raised him up so he could stand, but his hands were still cuffed behind his back.
Once he was up, Jaune looked at her with a bored expression. "Will I also be getting my things back?" Jaune asked.
Winter looked at him, "Depends on what you say to the general's offer," Winter said.
'So he does want to talk to me, either about turning in the Robyn and others or he knows who I am and possibly informed Headmaster Ozpin, though, would Ozpin save me in this situation?' Jaune thought. However, Jaune shrugged, "Whatever, let's get going then," He told her.
Winter led him out, and he looked at Ciel who was glaring at him and Jaune simply ignored her. After walking out of the hold, Winter along with Ciel led Jaune toward Ironwood's office. After an elevator ride and a walk down a hall, the three arrived at the office of the General and when they walked inside, Jaune saw Penny was inside and on a hologram, was none other than Ozpin himself. Jaune was shocked to see Ozpin there, even in hologram form and finally, the blonde stood in front of Ironwood, the general turned to him with a small smile as did Ozpin.
"Mr. Arc, Ozpin was just telling me a bit about you," Ironwood told the young boy.
Ozpin looked at Jaune with a smile, "It is good to see you again, Mr. Arc,"
A soft smile graced Jaune's face, as he was truly happy to see his headmaster again after so long and after everything he had been through. "It's good to see you too... Headmaster," Jaune replied.
Ironwood looked at Jaune, "You're very lucky Ozpin speaks highly of you, Mr. Arc," He said, "Which is why I've made a deal with Ozpin,"
Jaune looked at the General with a raised brow, "What deal?" he asked.
"The deal is you help us deal with our problem and we'll let you go about your little journey Opzin put you on, or if you refuse, you can spend your time in jail back in Vale," Ironwood said.
Jaune glared at him, "You think I'm gonna help you arrest Robyn and the others after all the good they've done while you and your "Soldiers" stay up here where it's nice and cozy and let the people down there suffer and die?" Jaune asked with a furious tone.
Ironwood chuckled, "That's where you're wrong, Mr. Arc, I won't want to arrest the Happy Huntress, I want their help," He told them.
Jaune was now suspicious, "What?" He asked, "Why would you want the help of "Criminals"?" Jaune asked the general.
"Because I know they aren't criminals and because we have a group of people a lot more dangerous and people who actually want to cause Chaos," Ironwood told them.
This made Jaune somewhat worried, wondering if it could be remnants of Spider that came here to hunt him down. "Who?" Jaune asked, dreading that he might be right.
Ironwood gave Jaune a serious look, "The White-Fang," He told Jaune. "They are here in Atlas,"
Jaune's eyes widened with shock, "The White-Fang are here?" He asked.
Jaune had heard plenty of stories about the new White-Fang being terrorists and what they did, and he knew how dangerous they were. They blew up a train full of people, and they also blew up shops that were discriminating against faunus, and every time, there were innocent people killed or caught in the crossfire.
"Why are they here?" Jaune asked.
Ironwood sighed, "From what we understand they're trying to recruit some of the protesters to their cause as well as bomb some of the mines, but it also appears that they are here to kill some ex-members that had fled and left the organization," Ironwood told him. "So, what I want you to do is work with Specialist Schnee, Cadet Soliel, and Polendian as well as the Huntresses to track down and capture the White-Fang and I promise that I'll make sure that the wall will be finished,"
Jaune eyed the general up and down, wondering if he was trying to trick him, but if Ozpin was involved he didn't think it was, While Ozpin was a Huntsman and obeyed the law, Jaune knew whim as an honest and true man.
Jaune let out a sigh and nodded, "Fine," Jaune replied, "Let me call them, and for you're sake general, I hope you're not tricking me, because if you are... I'll kill you," Jaune told him seriously.
Ironwood looked into the boy's eyes and knew he was telling the truth and while Ironwood had met many with the same look in Jaune's eyes, he would admit that there was something about the younger boy that might him uneasy. It was clear that the young boy had been through a lot and developed a killing aura that could make many fear him and a few uneasy around him. Because, unlike most trained fighters who somewhat controlled that killing aura, Jaune's was untamed and animalistic, and an untamed animal was dangerous.
"You have my word, Mr. Arc, I am not deceiving you," Ironwood told him.
Jaune nodded and He felt the cuff on his hands loosen, Winter then grabbed a large bag that was full of his things and Jaune took them and went to change and also went to call Robyn and the others hoping they would listen and be willing to work with Ironwood.
As Jaune left, Winter, Ciel, and Penny did the same. Ozpin's hologram turned to Ironwood with a smile. "This is a risky plan, James, but one that I think is for the greater good," Ozpin told him.
Ironwood nodded, "Yes, and if this all works out, I believe that Mantle and Atlas will be safe," Ironwood told him.
With that, Ozpin bid Ironwood farewell and ended the call, but the Headmaster of Beacon was worried about his blonde student, after all, Ozpin saw the look in his eyes and could tell that the Jaune arc that he last saw leaving Beacon was gone, and the one that stood before him had seen the cruelty of the world.
Ozpin sighed as he sat at his desk and prayed that Mr. Arc would come back when all of this was over, or he feared that he had put a young man on a dark and dangerous path...
"Brothers guide and protect you... Mr. Arc," Ozpin muttered.

So, I wanted to let you all know how this story has affected me and what it has made me think about.
This story had really been putting my mind to the test and I love that but at the same time, it makes me feel somewhat drained. After writing a chapter for this story and talking about certain topics as well as putting my own feelings into this has made it hard to write for some of my other stories.
"Sunshine" is my own Berserk, Vagabond, and Vinland Saga. It is one of, if not the biggest story where I put my everything into and make sure the Chapter is both up to my standards and is good for you, the reader. I don't and I hope that I will never half-ass a chapter in this story since it means a lot to me nor do I ever want to bore you guys or disappoint you guys because, without you, this story won't make it. Which is why I make sure that the Chapter is as perfect as I can make it.
But because this story has become one which I pour my feelings into, it has also brought up some feelings about some personal things and has made me a bit depressed, and question a lot of things about myself.
I'm fine, I promise, but I felt like I needed to say this because holding it in has been troubling me and I don't feel like talking to my family about these feelings.
This entire thing has made me realize that writing is not safe.
I don't mean that Writing is a terrible thing or that it's a bad thing, I just mean that when you write, truly write, and put you're heart and soul into something, you find out things about yourself.
For example, I feel terrible when I haven't written in a week or a month because I feel like you guys are waiting for the next chapter and would be upset if it didn't come out soon. I know that it's all in my head, but damn it freaking sucks.
The stress of worrying about my writing and disappointing the readers paired with stress IRL has felt like my soul is being sucked out of my body and there are times when I have broken down and cried because of everything going around me and a part of me telling myself that I'm letting the readers down by not getting chapters out sooner.
I want to take a break, I really do, but I don't think I can, not when my head is telling me that the current Act of this story is unfinished. So, currently, the plan is to finish the Atlas Act and possibly take a break to, and rest my brain for a while.
Now this is the current plan, but this could all change as time goes on. I could feel better and keep writing, but I think that the real best course of action is to finish the act and then take a break. I'll try to update other stories as well while updating this one but if I don't, please understand.
Anyway, Thank you all for listening to me and reading today's chapter. Have a wonderful, Morning or Afternoon or Night.
Love you guys!
