Barry Allen's Love
"What I remember is being created as a disposable life to be thrown away when Barry Allen was done with me. He didn't care about me. Why should I care about his love?" ~Savitar
~Morning of the final day, Central City, The Allen Family home…
Henry Allen was watching the news and Nora was in the kitchen making breakfast. There was a knock at the door. Nora came into the living room. Henry and Nora looked at each other. Neither one was expecting guests this early. Nora went to open the door, but Henry told her he would get the door. When Henry opened the door Barry was standing in the doorway.
"Hey slugger!" Henry said happily looking back, yelling out.
"Hey Hunnie, it's Barry!" Henry yelled out.
Nora got up and came to the door to greet her son giving him a warm hug. Barry's parents give him a look over noting his usual colorful style of clothing had been switched out for black shoes, cargo pants, a black t-shirt, and a short thin unzipped black leather jacket.
"What brings you home this morning my monkey?" Nora asked.
"Mom, Dad, there is someone I want you to meet." Barry told them, gesturing to his right as Kara stepped into view.
"Mom, Dad, this is Kara." Barry introduced her.
Kara wore pointy black leather dress shoes, silky black pants that were slightly baggy on her with a black silk blazer with nothing underneath it. She also wore a silver necklace. Her hair was parted on the left side and slicked back with a few bangs hanging in front of her face. Henry took a step back eye wide and his mouth a jar. Nora just smiled looking at Kara then back at Barry.
"Come in you two, we are just getting ready to have breakfast." Nora told them.
Barry followed his Mom to the kitchen where he set the table and she started to make extra for Barry and Kara. Henry turned to Kara and started to give her a tour of the home while Nora and Barry prepared breakfast.
Henry showed Kara the pictures of their family and Barry growing up over the years. Kara just smiled seeing how happy Barry was and how the House of Allen was a good place full of love and goodness. It reminded her of the House of El and her family.
"So Kara, how long have you known my son Barry?" Henry asked as they walked toward the kitchen.
"A day." Kara answered.
"Oh, um, don't you think you two are moving kind of fast?" Henry asked, turning to Kara who gave him a confused look.
"Fast?" Kara turned her head slightly.
"Nevermind. Say aren't your clothes kind of…loose on you?" Henry asked.
"This is the only size of clothes he had." Kara replied looking at the wall of pictures.
"Whose he?" Henry inquired. Kara looked back at Henry.
"Bruce Wayne." Kara replied.
"You wear Bruce Wayne's clothes?" Henry gave her a confused look. Barry overheard from the kitchen as he was coming in to get them.
"What she means Dad is…she…models for Wayne Enterprises Fashion line." Barry lies to cover for Kara.
"Oh! I see you're a fashion model for Bruce Wayne and he sponsors the stylish clothes you wear?" Henry asked. Kara peers over Henry's shoulder at Barry who is nodding his head really fast. Kara starts to nod her head slowly.
"Yes, I model for Bruce Wayne." Kara said and smiled.
Kara, only owning her Supergirl suit, had to borrow some clothes from the guest room of Wayne Manor. She threw together the outfit she was wearing based on what was in the closet and what fit her comfortably. Barry let out a sigh.
Inside the kitchen they sat down and had breakfast together. Henry and Nora told Kara family stories and trips they made. Then they went on and told some cute stories that Barry found embarrassing. Nora caught sight of it and told Henry to stop even though Kara was smiling listening intently to their stories. Nora quickly changed the subject.
"So Kara tell us where you are from?" Nora asked.
"I'm from Kry-"
"Russia!" Barry said, cutting her off. Kara looked at Barry then nodded her head.
"Russia, I'm from Russia." Kara told them.
"I knew it. See hunnie, I was right. You Russians are all super model material." Henry said outloud.
"So that must mean you are here on a work visa then being sponsored by Wayne Enterprises right?" Nora asked. Kara just looked at her then over at Barry slowly nodding her head.
"Yes, that is correct." Kara said.
"So how did you two meet?" Henry inquired.
"We met at-"
"Wayne Manor! I met her when I went to Gotham with Bruce. We went to his home and I met her there." Barry explained.
"Yes, we met at Wayne Manor." Kara added.
"You two must have hit it off really well I take it." Nora asked.
"Yeah, leave it to Barry to leave a good impression on people." Henry added.
"Yes, you have a wonderful son. He saved me." Kara said outloud. Barry gave Kara a shocked look.
"He saved you?" Henry gave Kara a curious look. Barry was quickly trying to come up with another cover story to explain Kara's comment.
"Yes, from some bad people who hurt me. Your son is a real hero. This world can use more people like him." Kara said, giving Barry a wink. Barry let out a sigh.
"There you go hunnie, see girls always fall in love with heroes. I'm proud of you slugger." Henry told them.
"We both are." Nora added, reaching out holding Barry's hand with Henry reaching over resting his hand on top of theirs.
Kara watched the exchange, looking at their hands smiling then frowning remembering her mother and father. Then remembering going to her Uncle Jor-El's home spending time with her aunt and uncle then seeing baby Kal-El in his crib reaching for her. Kal-El smiled, holding her finger with his hand.
Her mother and father on her right hand side and her Aunt and Uncle on her left as they put Kal-El in Kara's young arms. She looks up at her family smiling looking down at Kal-El with everyone smiling at him. Kara snaps out of her flashback looking at the Allen Family fondly. Then loads up another serving of food.
"That's your third plate dear. Becareful you'll load up on calories and get fat." Henry jokes. Barry shot his Dad a look.
"Hunnie!" Nora scolded Henry.
"I'm sorry Kara, my husband forgets himself sometimes." Nora gives Henry a scolding look.
"It's fine. I just love food. Where I'm from in Russia we didn't get food like this." Kara said smiling while eating with her elbows on the table not exactly showing the best table manners but the Allens overlooked it.
When they were done Henry and Barry were in the kitchen doing the dishes while Nora was in the living room sitting down with Kara having one on one girl talk. Nora was explaining to Kara how lucky Barry is to have met her. Kara just nods thinking she was the lucky one, Barry and Bruce saved her from that place.
"That's quite the catch you have there slugger. Better then that econ girl Iris West was it?" Henry said. Barry looked back in the living room looking at his Mom and Kara.
"Yeah, I'm really lucky to have Kara. I'm also really lucky to have you guys as my parents." Barry smiles fondly at his father. Henry smiles back at Barry putting a wet hand on his son's shoulder as the two smile.
When they rejoin the girls in the room Barry glances at the news on the T.V. seeing Lois Lane reporting from the front lines with Col. Hardy, Professor Hamilton, next to her with General Swanwick. The world waits for Zod to land. To see what will happen next. To see if Supergirl hands herself over or plunges the world in war.
Across the world some people saw the arrival of the Kryptonains as a sign of good tydings, and a bright future to come. Others saw Kryptonains as evil alien invaders who wanted to destroy them. There were plenty of mixed feelings and viewpoints the world's people held for the arrival of the Kryptonains and Humanity's first contact with an alien race far more advanced then them.
"Who knew we would be alive during this time in human history? Man's first contact with an alien race it's incredible." Henry said, sitting down in his recliner. Nora was on the couch with Kara while Barry was standing behind the couch with his hands resting on top of it as he leaned forward.
"Yeah, real amazing till you realize they are stronger, faster, and want to wipe you out and take your world for their own." Barry grumbled not realizing everyone heard him.
"Hey slugger, we don't know that for sure. Let's wait for them to land and see what happens." Henry scolded Barry.
"I'm just saying there is a reason Ka…This Supergirl fled her home world and is hiding out here in our world from them. These Kryptonains don't strike me as people here with our best intentions is all I'm saying Dad." Barry corrected himself.
"They probably tracked her pod here. They're here because of her, because she came here for a safe place to live." Kara said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"All the more reason why we can't hand her over and why we as a race of people must stand behind her if that's the case." Nora said casually. They all looked at Nora.
"No, it's not your fight and it's not your problem." Kara told her.
"That's nonsense. Despite the amazing things Supergirl can do, she is still just a person in trouble as you two assume. If she is in trouble it is our moral obligation to help and protect her." Henry told Kara. Kara had a shocked look on her face.
"I agree, she is here, she has been here living among us. As far as I'm concerned she is one of us. A resident of this planet, her problems are our problems." Nora said with a smile. Kara looked at Nora and understood now where Barry's goodness and need to help people came from.
"Thank you, I'm sure wherever Supergirl is, she would want to know how you feel." Kara told her with affection in her voice for Nora.
"It's like that friend who comes from a bad home and they come over seeking safety by staying with you in yours, but in this case home in this situation involves two planets and the neighborhood is literally space." Henry summed it up, putting it into perspective.
"All the more reason why we have to help her and stand with her." Barry said, reaching out with his left hand and giving Kara a reassuring shoulder rub on her right shoulder.
Kara reaches up with her left hand Holds Barry's hand, overcome by the support and understanding of the Allen Family. Kara closes her eyes for a moment then lets go of Barry's hand getting to her feet adjusting her clothes.
"Well we should get back to Gotham. We have a busy day today. Thank you for the hospitality and the food. It was wonderful." Kara told them.
"Don't mention it, feel free to drop by anytime you two. We love having Barry and his friends over." Henry told them. Kara just smiled.
"So when can we expect to see you guys again? So I can have food already prepared." Nora asked.
"Well if all goes well today how about-" Barry was about to say before getting cut off by Kara.
"Tomorrow! Let's do this again tomorrow." Kara said outloud.
"Tomorrow it is." Nora said with a smile.
Kara got up and Barry pushed off the couch standing straight up.
"Will show you to the door." Henry said outloud.
Henry and Nora walked Barry and Kara to the door. Barry was the first one out with his hands in his jacket pockets. Kara stopped turning back to face the Allens at the door. Barry turned around looking back as well.
"You know whatever happens today. I do know one thing Mrs. Allen…" Kara paused for a moment.
"What's that?" Nora inquired.
"Supergirl, wont let anything happen to this planet or its people." Kara said with reassurance in her voice.
"Hopefully, it wont come to a fight and both sides can work all this out peacefully. I believe people can come to an understanding if they just talk things out rather then fight." Henry told her.
"I hope so." Kara said outloud before turning to go with Barry. Henry puts his hand around Nora.
"I really like her." Henry said.
"Me too." Nora said as they turned and closed the door. A few moments later, The Flash and Supergirl were stretching in an open field.
"I can't tell you how much I appreciate you doing this." The Flash said outloud.
"Not at all Barry. I'm curious myself." Supergirl said outloud looking around.
"And it's not like it's a competition. Well it is a competition but you know it's not like a macho…measuring…thing…" The Flash said, bending down and stretching out his legs. Supergirl just gave him a curious look.
"If I win, you have to take me out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I want to try all your world's delicious foods." Supergirl told him. The Flash grunts thinking how much eating three times a day for a week was going to cost him. The Flash laughs nervously pointing at her.
"Bruce said if I win you'd treat us to all we can eat." Supergirl told him. The Flash stood up.
"Okay that's cold. That's a betrayal. I feel stung by that…" Flash said, lowering his head and shaking it from side to side.
"Okay, but if I win you have to be my girlfriend!" The Flash said with an excited voice holding out his hand to Supergirl.
"Deal." Supergirl agreed, shaking The Flash's hand. The Flash gets into position smiling.
"Think you can keep up Girl of Steel?" The Flash says with utter confidence in his voice.
"Oookay, just watch you aqua speedster." Supergirl said, looking at the blue and white Flash suit, while taking her position next to The Flash.
"Alright, alright you got jokes. I like that. Kara Zor-El because that's your alien name because you are an alien." The Flash laughs. Supergirel just looks at him and shakes her head smiling.
The Flash walks over to her holding out his arms.
"You're so lame. Come here!" Supergirl said playfully, walking toward him, throwing out her arms as they gave each other a hug and enjoyed their final moments of peace, before thrusting themselves into the horrors of war.
"Alright, let's do this. On your mark?" The Flash and Supergirl take running positions.
"All set!" Supergirl said with a fierce determined look on her face.
"LETS GOOO!" The Flash yells.
Supergirl and The Flash broke the sound barrier racing back to Gotham, to the Batcave, to Batman, where they will depart for the desert and make their final stand against Zod and the Kryptonains to decide the Future of this world…
