Chapter 16

"NO MORE! I DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF THAT ANYMORE!"

Megumi was frustrated, so much so that he sat his family down and demanded they stopped dragging him to the nursery to sleep. His father appeared confused. "When the hell did that start happening?!" he demanded.

"Ever since big brother woke up" explained Daku. "Whenever big brother went to sleep. Father would go into his room, take him to the nursery and then we brood there, more room for everyone, far more comfier than trying to all squeeze into Megumi's bed…" he said offhandedly.

Fushiguro froze. "This has been going on since then!?"

If that's the case, how come he doesn't remember it? For that matter, how did he not notice before?

"Look, you are going through some shit, so am I. It's not every day you wake up being a dragon!"

"I never asked you to turn me!"

"I didn't asked to be turned either!" he snapped back.

Megumi paused. "What…"

"Tiamat took me out to the forest, I though she wanted to make our or something, instead. She said she wanted to try something, Kiyoshi inspired her… next thing I know, I swallowed a marble, and my heart stops!" he explained. "After that, I am butt naked in the middle of the forest… not the first time that has happened, but more recently then I care to admit"

"How come you can control it?" Megumi asked. "I have these damn things that won't go away! And yet, you can contain your dragon form easily!"

His father sneered. "I don't know how to answer that either…"

"Elder brother, are you not being too hard on father and yourself for that matter?" his sister Nisha asked. "Mother turned father since she wanted to keep him around as a mate, it's a high compliment and yet, it wasn't father's choice. What happened to you… wasn't father's choice either." She said gently.

"What are you talking about? He hunted me down until he… I don't even remember what he did!"

"Big brother," Amaya said gently. "In truth, father could have done one of two things being in the mindset of a dragon. One, he could have killed you where you stood. Considering you were not a dragon, not his equal and therefore unworthy of his blood. However, he went with the second option. Raising you to become stronger, knowing he had the power to make you become such a thing, to become one of us, he took it instantly without hesitation. He wants you to be part of our family, and we do too!"

"Then why couldn't I stay mortal?" he asked. "I didn't want to be a dragon"

The siblings went silent for a moment, until Hoshi sighed. "You would have been killed." He said bluntly. "Elder brother, being mom's child has its burdens. We know we are going to be targeted, as well, when we become older, we will have greater responsibilities, for we need to help mother however we can. As such, anyone who wishes to harm her, will target kin first. You would have been the first one they killed being mortal…"

"I understand, but I can defend myself. Not to mention, you guys are here…"

They shook their head. "At the moment big bro, there is a LOT going on in the heavenly realm. Uncle is threatened and he is desperate to do something about it. We don't know what, and at the same time. He will come after mom with anything and everything possible. He knows that you are not blood related to her. But mom still sees you as a son. Also, how do you think dad would be affected if something happened to you huh?" asked Ankoku.

He didn't consider that, but still…

"I… just want things to go back to the way they were before… this is getting out of hand for me… I… I don't know how to deal with it!"

"Kids, mind clearing out for a moment?"

He was stunned to hear his father ask for privacy. They nodded and left them be. Megumi couldn't even look in his father's eyes. "So, it looks like no matter what I do, I screw you up huh?"

"What…"

"No matter what I do, I tend to screw up your life…" He said bluntly once more. "Look, I am not the greatest dad in the world, I don't even place in the rankings for that. However, I tried… I tried as best as I could. I've become a shell of my former self since your mother died… since I knew I wouldn't be able to do right by you without her." He explained. "But this… this whole dragon shit that has been happening to both of us… I didn't know this was going to happen… I don't know how to help you either… but I want to try!"

Megumi paused to him, he meant that, didn't he?

"I have been trying to figure out this myself. As odd as it is, I am not having an issue being this… it's as if it's natural to me now, I've always been a dragon in my mind, but, to see you struggle, knocks me down a peg, realizing I know shit about this." He then forced a laugh. "I haven't even TURNED into one yet… I might be stuck or something…"

Megumi nodded. "I… I just don't know what to do to control this…"

"Do we ask Tiamat?"

He cringed. As much as he respects Lady Tiamat, he felt weird waking up in her arms and having her sooth him like a baby. "I…"

"We can ask her another time, if you want to try and figure this out on your own, I won't stop you. BUT, if you need help…"

He decided to try and work it out for himself. Like his technique it didn't come right away, it took him a while to summon his first jade dog when he was a child…

"I'm sorry for my reaction…" Megumi managed to say.

"I don't hold it against you, sport. This is a lot of shit to deal with… huh… if you want to make yourself feel better, head to the clan estate for a while!" he said and bore a wicked grin.

"Why?"

"Naoya will serve you like his life depends on it… you're a dragon now… he doesn't know that yet!"
