Chapter 17

Within the heavenly realm.

Lady Tiamat's uncle… has his plans in place and in motion.

He has become aware of his nieces, defying him and having children outside of males that he approved of for them. One, including his son, yet this was nothing but an insult to him. "My child is strong enough for children, and yet, you turned to mortals for reproduction? Pay with your greed then… By my name I, Yggdrasil. Forbid those ten female dragons from reproducing for a thousand years… unless…" he gave two conditions for the seal to break, and he is rather confident that neither one would happen. One, they abandon their mates and accept for those he chooses from. Or… well… that one was more of a joke to him.

For there would be NONE in this world who would ever do such a thing! It was also impossible for mortals to obtain.

So either way, Tiamat will suffer and her daughters will pay the price for her ignorance.

That was one aspect down, the other…

"Father, what is going on? What happened to my two friends Wyrm and Grimm?"

"I sent them to earth to investigate the sudden new births… have they yet to return?"

His son was silent, he shook his head to him. "Father, you sent them over a month ago…"

'Tsk, of course they couldn't do a simple task. I caught wind of both demon dragons being incapacitated, how hard would it be for them to destroy the two in their weakest moment?!' he thought.

"It appears your friends won't be returning…"

His son, sneered at the notion but kept silent. That's the whole reason why he's alive, he is aware of his place. "Not to worry, a new breeding season will be occurring, I happened to have gained an early start"

"Father?" he asked curiously. "But, you don't have a mate currently…"

He chuckled. "It matters not, there is no female who would refuse me!" he decreed proudly. "Especially for the greater good of us all. Your sister understood that perfectly well…"

That look.

Yggdrasil has seen it once before!

"Lower your glare!" he ordered.

Instantly, his son was reminded of his place and became submissive once more. "After all, I am going to become more powerful than Tiamat!" he declared.

"How, father?"

Perhaps it was time to show his son, what he has been storing for a few thousand years. He led him to a secrete chamber within the castle, along the way he explained. "Before the heavens and earth divided, I had to fight for my piece of the pie as it were. However there were so many other contenders, I had to thin them out. My nieces and nephews at the time, many, many of them were level headed like Tiamat. But, there were some who I could manipulate to my will. Especially the children of my descendants."

He spoke of his proudest achievement.

He had managed to trick one of Tiamat's brothers into fighting the dominate one, claiming he was hoarding all the power for himself. His brother, who had a dream and dared to believe he was the stronger of the two, did just as Yggdrasil had wanted.

"Have you heard of Tiamat's brother, Tatsuo?" he asked his son.

He trembled to the name. "Many say he rivaled Tiamat herself… But, no one knows what had become of him…"

"His brother tried to kill him." Yggdrasil said bluntly. "He didn't manage to do so, his brother, Tatsuo showed mercy to his sibling. Understanding he was confused and didn't quite understand why he wanted to face him. Knowing he risked death for the sake of power. He spared him, yet, when his back turned… Tatsuo was stabbed from behind."

"Stabbed? By who?"

Yggdrasil grinned to him. "In the distraction… I killed his mate, then, I waited for his guard to lower and I killed him and his brother! However, Tatsuo was strong, too strong to fall such a way, his body was destroyed but, his soul remains intact, as well… the ego remains." He said rather bitterly.

"It's been thousands of years, and I have been waiting for his spirit to break. I believe it is close to doing so now…"

He opened the hidden passage.

Yggdrasil revealed to his son the floating orb. It was a large one at that, nearly as big as a mortal beach ball. But it was giving off a weak pulse. "This is what remains of Tatsuo." Yggdrasil said proudly. "As you can see, his spirit weakens. When the time is right, I'll shatter his orb and absorb his power, but, I can't do that with the ego still attached to it."

"How long as he been fighting you?"

"Give or take, ever since the day his body was destroyed." Yggdrasil muttered bitterly. "But now, it weakens, for he knows there is no one left for him…"

Yggdrasil reached in and took the orb out, carefully he held it between two talons and marveled at it. "Surrender already, Tatsuo. There is nothing left for you here…"

The orb's pulse was getting weaker. "Father, why has he resisted this long?"

"Hm? Oh, that, I believe he still sensed a child. Syrax no doubt kept him motivated to live, but, she is no longer among our company now isn't she? At least, not until I get what I want…"

"But she too had children recently…"

Yggdrasil froze to this.

"What did you say?!"

"Syrax… she too reproduced…"

Yggdrasil turned to glare at his son, when suddenly… the orb bolted out between his claws! It surged with new energy and then… it tore through Yggdrasil son!

A massive hole came in his chest as the orb shot off and escaped by any and all means necessary!

"NO! THE ORB!"

How do these things keep happening to him?! First Ryujin, then Raynn now THIS!"

"F…father… help… help me…"

He sneered as he peered down at his fallen child. He sighed aloud to this, after all, this one does everything he has asked of him. "I suppose it could be worst. Not to worry son, your little brother shall take your place… I will be sure to relish every bit of you!"

He ignored his child's screams for help, forgiveness or even just for mercy.

Screams wasted in these walls…
