Those two days were just what they needed. They stayed at Adam's place because they were too comfortable to do anything else and to be completely honest, they were happy doing nothing and cuddling. That was until the next they hit and it was extremely hot for either of them to handle.
"Just to set the record straight, I love being half naked in bed with you and the air on, but how about if we go to the beach?" Kim looked at him with big eyes, not sure if he was playing or if he actually meant it.
"To the beach?"
"Yeah. It's hot as hell, it's not even summer yet, so chances are it won't be super crowded, I'm dying to rub sunscreen on you." He stopped for a second, closing his eyes and smiling at the memory that flashed through his head. "And besides, we did say that we were going on vacation once the Kit case was over, so we can look at this at our first approach to that. What do you say?"
"How can I say no to that?" She replied with a bright smile. "We need to stop by my place though, I have to get my bathing suit and stuff."
"Great. I'll go get ready."
It didn't take them long to get to the beach. They decided to spend a few hours there and brainstorm about their actual holidays. Kim had July off, since Cathleen had already told her that she wanted her back in school if Kim was up to it, and to be honest the brunette couldn't picture her life without her kids. Adam also had a couple of days that he could ask for and finally get that well deserved vacation he was longing for.
Kim stayed sunbathing, although part of her body was under the umbrella; she was very careful with her scar, Adam helped her feel better about it but she was still a bit self conscious of it and wasn't interested in adding any sun damage to it.
Adam on the other hand went to the water, he was desperate to cool off and having lathered Kim's body with sun lotion hadn't helped at all.
She looked towards the shore and felt how her heart skipped a beat. Kim was perfectly aware how attractive her boyfriend was, but watching him walk out of the water, all wet with the sun shining on his perfectly toned body was out of this world. She was grateful to be wearing sunglasses because she was sure the look on her face was totally giving away the fact that she was crazy about him.
He got closer to her and fetched his own shades, putting them on and standing under the sun hoping the temperature would help him dry off. She couldn't take her eyes off of him. God, was he gorgeous or what?
"You really need to go to the water. It feels amazing." Adam spoke getting no reply from her, she was still mesmerized by the sight. "What happened?"
"Nothing."
"Are you sure?
"Yeah. I'm just thinking about how lucky I am."
Adam pulled his glasses down the bridge of his nose and looked at her with a lopsided grin.
"Hmm, please expand."
Kim smiled back and sat up on her chair. "Well, for starters I got to fall in love with you twice."
"And to continue?"
She got up, walking closer to him and wrapping her arms around his neck. He was quick to place both hands on her hips when he felt her lips whispering something into his ear.
"To continue, I get to take you home, get rid of that bathing suit and enjoy that sexy body of yours. You haven't even touched me and you're driving me crazy."
She kept the PDA casual because one thing she didn't like was making a scene in front of everyone.
"You're also lucky that this place is surrounded by people or else I would be taking off that bikini you're wearing. Do you have any idea how hard I'm trying to stay under control? Damn it baby, you're so hot."
Kim blushed as she realized how Adam was getting agitated. She loved that she could still make him feel that, because that's the exact effect he had on her.
"Let's hit the water." She said seductively and hoping that a splash would help.
"Oh, yeah."
They were like children, playing and splashing each other just enjoying the peace. The past weekend had been amazing, but this was probably the first time they felt free and careless, one hundred percent comfortable with each other. It was such a nice day for them that they stayed there for as long as they could.
A couple of hours later they were rushing into Adam's place. He threw everything on the floor as he pushed the door shut while he pulled off his shirt from the back of his neck with his free hand. Kim helped by pulling the damn thing up herself and breaking the contact between their lips. When he finally took it off, he went straight for Kim's shirt, doing exactly the same thing.
"Oh god Kim, what are you doing to me?" He was having difficulty speaking due to the agitation in his breath. She wasn't doing anything really, they were just heavily making out. It was impossible to stay away or keep their hands off each other, they were in full honeymoon phase mode and they were loving it.
"Want me to stop?" She asked in between kisses.
"Hell no."
"Good, because I don't want you to stop either."
All that could be heard in the apartment was kissing, laughter, fun giggles and bumps against the furniture as they walked towards the bathroom. Adam was the first to step in the room and much to his disappointment, he let go of his girl to get the shower running, checking the temperature with his hand. Kim took advantage of the distraction to take off her swimsuit, making him gasp when he turned to see her.
He ran his hand through his face and shook it with a broad smile.
"Now, I don't want to sound like a pervert here, but this is by far my favorite view."
"Shut up." Her cheeks were bright red, but she managed to push her embarrassment away and took a step closer to him, hugging him by the neck and slowly walking him into the shower.
They took their sweet time there, taking care of their bodies, taking each other in with every touch, caress and kiss.
The shower was indeed relaxing, but it left both of them sore and a bit tired, but totally happy.
Adam came out of his room wearing only a pair of dark jean shorts, his hair was still wet and the smell of his cologne was taking over the whole space. He walked to the living room, where Kim was sitting on the couch and scrolling through her phone. He threw himself on the couch placing his head on Kim's lap causing her to gently scratch his scalp and play with his hair instantly.
"Mmm, that feels good." He said with his eyes closed and a big smile plastered on his face as Kim just giggled. "Anything interesting happening in the outside world?"
"No, just the insurance company asking me again what am I planning to do about my car."
"What do you want to do?"
"I know I have to get a car, I've talked to my dad about this a lot, I know I have to do it and he promised to help, but to be honest I'm terrified to get behind the wheel again. What if something happens? Or if I hurt someone?"
"I'd love to tell you that that won't ever happen, but I can't, because both you and I know that accidents happen. What I can tell you is that I do understand what you feel. Going through what you went through is super traumatic and it's only normal for you to want to avoid it. I can drive you and drop you off anywhere you want until you feel ready."
Kim smiled and lightly chuckled at his words before dipping her upper body down to meet his lips in a sweet and tender peck.
"I really appreciate that baby, but I need to get my shit together. Besides, you're going back to work tomorrow you have your own things to worry about."
"Agh, don't remind me about that. I'm thinking about asking for my whole leave right now."
"No, you go back to work like you're supposed to and then we go away somewhere, just like we planned today. And in the meanwhile I get my new car and start getting out there slowly."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes Adam, it's time everything goes back to normal, or as normal as it can get."
"Ok. Why don't I go with you to pick the new car? We make sure we can get the safest option, something that you'll feel comfortable driving."
"Um, my dad said he would come with me." She added while still scratching his head softly. "But I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you tag along. My parents have made it clear to me how much they love you. I think they're even contemplating adoption." They both laughed.
"I don't think they'll need to do that. We're going to be part of the same family at some point anyway." He opened his eyes wide and looked at her still resting his head on her lap, waiting anxiously for her reaction; and the sparkle in her brown eyes did not disappoint.
"Well, I really wouldn't like you as my brother."
"Yeah, sister wasn't really what I was thinking about."
"What were you thinking about?" She asked, trying to get him to say more.
"Hmm, I think you know exactly what I'm thinking about." He gave her that lopsided smile she loved.
"You're not gonna say anything else?" Kim answered, chuckling at the whole situation.
"Nope."
"I hate you." She joked.
"That sucks, because I really do love you, Belle."
Kim didn't say anything, she just bowed down and kissed him again.
"I love you too."
"Good, because my heart wouldn't take it otherwise."
He smiled and pulled her face down for another kiss.
"That sweet heart of yours is safe then."
"So is yours."
"I know."
She truly did know. Kim trusted Adam fully and completely.
"You are sleeping over tonight, right? You can stay here or I can drop you off at your place on my way to the district tomorrow. Whatever you prefer."
"I am staying. Maybe you can drop me off so I can get some things in my apartment settled."
"Ok. Do you have any plans for the night tomorrow?"
"Um, no I don't. Why?"
"Because I can't stay away from you." They both laughed. "Also, the guys want to see you. They are getting together tomorrow at Molly's and you're totally invited if you feel like going."
"I'd love to."
"We can tell Sylvie and Matt, he'll probably be there anyway."
"Great. I'll text Syl tomorrow. We should also arrange something with my parents sometime."
"We do. And pops would also like to see you. Do you think it would be too awkward if we have them over for dinner together?"
"Like a big family dinner? With our siblings and Gracie?"
"I'm down for that if you are."
"Yeah, I think it would be fun. Plus it needs to happen at some point, why not now?"
"Yeah, I love it. I'm excited already."
"Me too." She said smiling.
"So, what do you want to do for the rest of the day?"
"How selfish am I if I tell you that I just want to stay in, cuddling and having you all to myself?"
"Oh god, yes! That's exactly what I want to do as well. A cozy, cuddly evening with you."
"That settles it then."
Just like they said, they spent the rest of the day together. No tv shows, no movies, just soft music and the both of them talking about everything and anything that came up, doing nothing but strengthening their bond.
Those few days together were the perfect way to come back to each other, for Kim to keep remembering and to be at ease with her current situation and to begin to get her life back one more time.
That night they made love to each other again in the most tender and magical way possible, finding calm and peace before the packed days they had ahead of them.
