It was just before sunset that Elisa and Athena had been notified that the Pack, except Fox, had escaped from prison. They knew that Lexington was not going to be happy about this news. Elisa and Athena stood inside the clock tower waiting for the sun to go down. A few minutes passed by before Goliath, Lexington, Broadway, Brooklyn, Hudson, and Bronx walked into the tower.
"What is it, Elisa? Athena?" Goliath asked, seeing their scared faces.
"Bad news I'm afraid, the pack escaped from jail," Elisa replied.
"What!?" Lexington shouted with rage causing Brooklyn, who was standing next to him, to cover his ears.
"Nice wake-up call," Brooklyn said.
"We gotta track them down before the trail gets cold!"
"How did it happen?" Goliath asked his daughter.
"Dingo and somebody dressed in black and gold with an animal mask took them out quick and clean," Athena explained.
"What are we waiting for? Let's get moving!" Lexington said as he hopped from one foot to another before running up the stairs to the balcony.
"Where do we start?" Broadway asked, "Manhattan is a bigger castle than the one we're used to protecting."
Lexington turned around and continued going up the stairs as he said, "The Pack Media Studio, they'll go back to it like snakes to a nest and I'll be waiting for them."
Goliath, Elisa, and Athena rushed up the stairs and out onto the balcony as Lexington was on the railing, preparing to jump.
"Lexington wait!" Goliath ordered, preventing Lexington from leaving.
"The studio is the first place we're checking," Elisa told him.
Brooklyn ran out and jumped on the railing next to Lexington, "Ok Lex, you and me, we'll check it out."
Athena walked up to the two gargoyles with Bronx by her side, "If you two are going to do something like this then you're going to need some backup."
Athena got on Brooklyn's back while he and Lexington grabbed ahold of Bronx to carry him before they jumped off the railing, flying to Pack Media Studio.
The four landed on the rooftop of the building across from Pack Studio.
"Looks like we're not the only ones who figured they'd be here," Brooklyn commented on the police cars outside of the studio.
"The police can have them after I'm done with them," Lexington glared.
"Lexington, I know how you feel, you put your trust in them and they used you. They nearly killed you, me, and Goliath," Athena looked down, "Every time someone mentions Demona, I feel so foolish that I didn't see her for who she truly is, but you can't let it consume you, you need to remember what's really important. Family, protecting our home."
"You have your priorities and I have mine," Lexington snapped at her.
"I gotta tell ya, Lex, your starting to worry us," Brooklyn told him.
"Look!" Lexington pointed at the police cars that are now leaving.
"Looks like they were a no-show," Athena said.
"I'm checking it out," Lexington jumped off the rooftop and glided down to the studio.
"Come on you two, let's go make sure Lexington doesn't get himself in trouble," She told Brooklyn and Bronx before they followed Lexington down to the studio.
When they snuck into the Pack Studio, there was nothing and that made Lexington furious.
"Nothing?" Lexington exclaimed. "Nothing?!"
"The Pack wouldn't return here," Brooklyn surmised.,"They know we know about their hideouts."
Lexington sighed in frustration, "Maybe your right…"
The four of them turned to leave, but about that time, the ground began to shake. Turning back to the warehouse, they watched as a bright light began to emanate from the floor as a hidden landing pad began to lift into the warehouse. Seated on the pad was one of the biggest airships any of them had ever seen.
"Now they know how to make an entrance," Brooklyn commented. The ship's bay doors open and the pack, except Fox, came out.
Lexington's eyes began glowing so brightly, his face was obscured by the light. Brooklyn and Athena grabbed ahold of him to stop him from doing anything stupid.
"Lexington, wait, we need a plan," Athena tried to tell him but he threw them off, causing them to hit Bronx, and launched at the Pack. He landed right on Wolf, claws and fangs bared as he attempted to attack him. Brooklyn rubbed his head and helped Athena up to her feet.
"I knew this wasn't gonna end well," Athena said.
The three of them entered the fray as well, with Brooklyn going after Dingo and Bronx going after Jackal. Hyena saw Athena and let a cruel smile played on her face.
"Payback time, you freak," She sneered, "And no hubby around to protect you."
Athena materialized her sword from thin air and got into a fighting stance.
"Bring it on," Athena challenged with a glare.
Hyena attacks Athena, forcing her to dodge. She brought up her sword to block Hyena's attacks before punching her in the face.
"I went easy on you last time," Hyena told Athena as she rubbed her jaw, "I'm not doing that again."
She spun kicked Athena, connecting with her stomach and sending her flying right into the wall, knocking her unconscious. Hyena was then able to put Lexington in a headlock despite the furious struggled the gargoyle put up.
Brooklyn taps on Hyena's shoulder, getting her attention. She turns around just in time for Brooklyn to punch her in the face, freeing Lexington and knocking her back. Meanwhile, Dingo was trying to hold Bronx back before throwing him aside. Jackal goes after Brooklyn and Wolf goes after Lexington.
Coyote appears at the top of the ship and Bronx attacks him by biting his arm. He throws Bronx aside, causing him to hit the wall. Bronx tries to get up but falls back down. Hyena rejoins the fight and attacks Brooklyn, who dodges every attack of hers before he punches her in the stomach.
"That's no way to treat a lady," Jackal scolded Brooklyn.
"That was no lady," He responded.
Dingo then throws a metallic disc onto Brooklyn's back and electrocutes him before he becomes unconscious. Meanwhile, Lexington was still fighting Wolf but was now at the point of mocking him. Wolf goes to punch Lexington but he trips him and causes Wolf to fall on his back.
"You miserable, little, lizard! I'll turn you inside out!" Wolf exclaimed before he went to attack Lexington again. Lexington was able to dodge Wolf's punches before landing one of his own. Coyote sneaks up behind him, he lifts his arm, a small ray gun came out. He fired it, sending the hallucinogenic rays at Lexington. Lexington became disoriented from the mind-warping hallucinations before he passes out next to Brooklyn.
Athena was soon able to regain consciousness and saw that her family had been defeated. She was still too weak to do much, but she knew that they were going to need backup.
"Yarva Demonicus Etrigan. Change, chang-" Athena began summoning Etrigan but was stopped as she was being dragged over to Lexington and Brooklyn by Wolf.
"Not so fast, my dear," Coyote told her, "We don't need your Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde of a husband to make an appearance."
Dingo handed Coyote a tranq gun and injected a substance in Athena's neck causing her to return to an unconscious state. Coyote then placed an iron, electro-magnetic collar around her neck.
"A little extra precaution," Coyote said.
"Nighty night…" Jackal taunted them as they lost consciousness, "Don't let the bedbugs bite."
Sometime had passed before the rest of the clan and Etrigan arrived at the Pack Media Studio after Etrigan had heard Athena's summoning. Hudson walked over to the wall that had a few cracks on it from when Athena was sent flying toward it and examined it.
"There was a struggle here," Hudson announced.
Suddenly, the phone on a nearby wall was ringing. Broadway went to answer it but stop as he was about to and turned to Goliath. Goliath nodded and Broadway answered the ringing phone.
"Uh… Hello?" Broadway spoke.
"Good evening, uh, Broadway, is it?" Owen said on the other line, "I've been instructed to invite you to an intimate soiree the Pack is having tonight. If you and your friends are free around midnight, please consider attending on the oil tanker Otoshiana Maru in the middle of the bay. I believe some of your party are already in attendance."
Owen then ended the call.
"The Pack has them," Broadway told the others.
When they woke up, Athena, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Lexington saw that they were in a cargo ship. Bronx ran toward the wall and began clawing it in hopes of breaking free. Athena felt the collar around her neck and tried to get it off, but was not successful.
"Not again," She muttered.
"Solid steel and I don't know how many feet thick. No way we're getting out," Brooklyn told Athena, Lexington, and Bronx.
"We almost had 'em!" Lexington yelled in outrage.
"Oh, yeah," Brooklyn rolled his eyes, "They were begging for mercy. How come the four of us always wind up like this?"
Bronx eventually stopped clawing at the wall and walked over to Athena. He laid down and placed his head in her lap.
"Don't worry, Bronx. My father and the others will find us," She comforted him.
"I don't need Goliath's help! I can take them by myself," Lexington then ran to the wall and pounded his fists on it repeatedly.
"Lex, you're not off to a great start," Brooklyn told him.
Meanwhile, the Pack was getting ready for the arrival of the gargoyles and Etrigan.
"Do you think they'll come?" Dingo asked, having doubts about the plan, "They've gotta know it's a trap."
"They'll come," Coyote said.
The pack and Coyote huddle together with their back facing inward. All of them were armed and watching for any sign of the gargoyles and Etrigan. Eventually, they heard a roar and saw two figures flying in the fog coming toward the ship.
"They're coming in from the side," Coyote alerted the pack. Coyote fires his weapon and manages to hit Husdon. Etrigan catches Hudson from falling into the water and places him on the ship before flying off.
Broadway comes in from the other before he rams into Wolf, Dingo, and Jackal knocking them down. Coyote runs and jumps over Broadway before landing on the desk. He then runs and Goliath follows him.
Etrigan lands next to Broadway and says, "Athena and the others are near, and when we are done the pack will run in fear."
The two then heard a loud pounding noise and saw the hack was chained. They then realized that it is where Athena, Lexington, Bronx, and Brooklyn are being kept.
"With thundering pounds, their location has been given to us by sounds," Etrigan added.
The two then walked over toward the hatch and as Etrigan was about to open it. Wolf walked up from behind and tried to attack but was caught by Etrigan holding him up by his collar.
"Attacking a man from behind is the strategy of a coward and there is no honor, but it will not matter for long because soon you will be a goner," Etrigan's eyes glowed with anger before tossing Wolf aside.
Meanwhile, Hudson was surrounded by Dingo, Hyena, and Jackal. Hudson drew his sword and waited for one to make a move.
"Come on, then. None of us getting any younger," Hudson said.
Dingo charged at Hudson, but he jumped up to dodge the attack. Jackal went in to attack Hudson with his claws, but they were cut off by Hudson's sword. He then grabbed Jackal by the collar and tossed him aside. Hyena jumped and Hudson used his wing to protect himself from her attack before he pushed her away.
Etrigan breathed fire onto the chain and hatch causing them to melt away. Lexington, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Athena climbed out of the hatch. While the other gargoyles went to help fight, Athena stayed behind for Etrigan to remove the collar around her neck.
"Thank you, my love," Athena said, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Your safety is all that matters and it seems the Packs' plan is now in scatters," He said.
Coyote hid from Goliath and waited for an opportunity to strike. Goliath landed and his back was turned to Coyote. Coyote lifts his arm, a small ray gun came out. The sound alerts Goliath and he lunges at Coyote but is stopped by the hallucinogenic rays from the weapon. With Goliath slightly disoriented, Coyote readies to fire his other weapon. Goliath slams his fist to the ground causing Coyote to lose his aim and fires at the barrels of oil that soon exploded into a fire.
Goliath pins Coyote to the wall and removes his mask. Goliath gasps, "Xanatos!"
"It's nice to see you too, Goliath," Xanatos breaks free from Goliath's hold and jumps down closer to the fire. Goliath follows him down and the two continue to fight.
While the rest of the clan was succeeding in defeating the pack, Etrigan was keeping Athena by his side to protect her. Athena saw that Xanatos had the upper head in his fight with Goliath and was about to push him into the fire when Bronx tackled Xanatos to the ground. Bronx then bit into Xanatos head before he was pushed off. Xanatos stood up and everyone saw that half of his face with metal. Bronx had torn away half of a mask. This Davis Xanatos was not the real David Xanatos, but a robot.
"He's a robot!" Dingo gasped.
"A robot? Even better.." Hyena said.
The Xanatos robot began to charge at Goliath but stops after Lexington used one of the Pack's guns to shoot a hole through his stomach.
The robot falls to his hands and knees, "I will have my revenge…"
The Xanatos robot stands up. Goliath jumps up and knocks off the robot's head before it landed in front of the Pack. The Pack stared at the robot head before looking up at the gargoyles, Etrigan, and Athena standing together and ready to continue the fight.
'Who's next?" Lexington asked the Pack.
Jackal turns around and saw that the fire from the oil barrel explosion was spreading by the second.
"Things are about to become complicated. Let's book, sis," Jackal said to Hyena before they ran away, followed by Wolf and Dingo.
"No!" Lexington cried.
The Pack jumps over the edge of the ship and into their airship. Lexington reached the edge just as the Pack climbed into the airship before taking off into the night. Lexington aimed his weapon, but another explosion prevented him from firing. The explosion had also sent Brooklyn flying. He hit his head on a metal pole and became unconscious.
Lexington aimed his weapon, ready to fire but saw that Brooklyn was at the edge of the ship under the railing and was slipping. Lexington dropped the gun and grabbed Brooklyn's tail before he fell into the water that was on fire from the oil.
The others had gathered around the head of the Xanatos robot before it blasts off.
"Blast! They got away. All of them," Hudson shouted.
Suddenly, another explosion blew a large hole in the hull of the ship and water began to pour in. The ship began to lean to the point where it was almost horizontal.
"We need to get out of here now!" Athena told them.
Brooklyn had awakened just before they flew off. Broadway was carrying Bronx and Etrigan was carrying Athena.
"Thanks for saving my bacon before it got fried," Brooklyn told Lexington.
"Hey, I'm used to it. Besides, it helped me get my priorities straight," He responded.
