Hey everyone, Zero here for the Behind the Scenes chapter that I mentioned back at the end of the Ghost Tribute. This chapter in general is mostly a thank you for all the wonderful support you've given me. I'm really appreciative and I can't believe we'd surpassed 200 Reviews. It's an amazing feeling. The purpose of this chapter is that I wanted to give you some insight into my process when crafting Roze from Remnant. I figured it would be fun. So, let's get started!

Rider Time Zi-O: Roze from Remnant

Behind the Scenes Special

Initial Planning: RWBY Rider Project

Yep, that was the name I came up with at first. Granted the initial concept was mostly a writing exercise that would have never seen the light of day. I was bored one day and wanted to see if I could challenge myself utilizing existing Rider characters for an original story. Basically utilizing only what they have with no fan forms to make it a sort of writing challenge. RWBY only popped up into it because it was an existing series and I didn't have to worry about making original characters or coming up with names. And like I said, this would never see the light of day. The closest that it did was me just mentioning it right now.

Of course that was around the time I realized a lot of RWBY characters have best matches in regards to pre-existing Riders and their themes. Like I'm sure if you asked plenty of people on what rider Yang from RWBY would be, they'd say Cross-Z. So it was just a matter of matching the characters to appropriate Riders before tossing them into an AU situation.

Despite wanting to do a writing challenge for myself, I could never motivate myself to really write much beyond just matching characters to power sets. In fact I sort of just fell out of the idea of crossing Kamen Rider with RWBY, especially since I was struck with inspiration. You see, we almost had a Kamen Rider Zi-O and Kingdom Hearts crossover from me. This was basically me trying to write up drafts based on the ending of base KH III, more specifically the location that was shown off which is now named Quadratum. It would sort of be a "what if" story given the details that have come out about the place since it was first unveiled. And given Quadratum looked heavily like modern day Japan, you can see why I'd want to use it in a Rider crossover.

Eventually that idea didn't go far enough for me to do much with it and I was back to the drawing board. This was also around the time I started to burn out on making Re:Kamen Rider Smash as well. I needed some sort of side project to try and take a break on so I wouldn't burn myself out. I didn't figure it out at the time but it wasn't me overworking myself, I was just losing in interest in Smash due to over-planning the story.

But when it all started to roll into a new idea well… we all have those moments right? We're bored so we just decide to look over the dozens upon dozens of newly updated Fanfiction to see if there's something interesting. I also made a habit of just sharing some of the various concepts with members on a Discord I'm a part of, curious to see their reactions. But that was when I kind of realized something, specifically about RWBY and Kamen Rider crossovers. There were a lot of 'Canon Character/OC gets sent to Remnant' plots that I saw. But there wasn't much in the way of 'Character from RWBY gets sent to Earth'. And that was sort of the start of the light bulb activating in my brain. Zi-O felt like the obvious choice because of how it starts out with a gigantic shared rider world. So that's when the base idea of Ruby gets sent to Rider World was born.

Initial Concept: RWBY – A New Quartzer

The initial title was indeed titled, RWBY – A New Quartzer. Do not ask what compelled me to make the title that, I legitimately just wanted something to stand out at the time in my file names. The first step was trying to figure a timeframe, with it originally being immediately after Ruby's silver eyes activate in Volume 3. She'd still meet Sougo but much closer to when the start of the story would actually take place, and would live at 9-5-DO for about three or four months before the start of Zi-O.

Another part of the initial concepts was that Kamen Rider Roze did not exist in the initial drafting. The most Ruby would gain as a Rider Form would be her obtaining the powers of Kamen Rider Drive. Specifically from the Ridewatch that Geiz had on him already. During the story though she'd only gain Drive's speed based forms, but they'd be custom styled to match her aesthetic. Other changes also included Rider Tributes being arranged differently, such as Drive and even Agito being in the first Quarter. Of course the one thing that was always set in stone was that Ruby would return to Remnant after confronting Oma Zi-O for the first time.

That was when I came to the realization of something I wanted to try and avoid when it came to returning to the RWBY side. Which was retread a lot, and I mean a lot of Volumes of RWBY. It's why I initially didn't have it happen sometime during Volume 1 or 2, so I scrapped 'A New Quartzer' to go back to the drawing board in regards to timeframes. Around that time I inadvertently formed my partnership with my Supervisor, Josh. Basically we'd bounce ideas around and one of the initial ideas for a timeframe was Oma Zi-O appearing to Ruby in the airship between Volume's 7 and 8 before taking her. Eventually just looking through the various gaps between Volumes, I figured the best time to take Ruby away from Remnant was between Volumes 5 and 6. It was a good sweet spot where there's a clear 2 week gap between both Volumes. This also meant that if I were to bring her back to Remnant, there would be less ground to cover in regards to going through the Volumes.

This was when the story started to get its grounding and when I made one of the most important decisions of this whole project. And that was whether or not Ruby would gain an Original Rider Form that was based on the Zi-O Aesthetic, or if she'd just get her own custom armor based on a pre-existing Rider. The one thing I felt was an obstacle was me having to create a Zi-O aesthetic Rider from scratch, especially one personalized to suit Ruby. That also wasn't counting in upgrades which I'd also have to plan on what they'd be specifically, and how they'd be tied to Ruby personally. I eventually decided to go along with it since I could make wholly original forms fit the narrative better. To offset me having to make designs and power-sets from scratch however was creating the Weapon Time system. It was a way to make Ruby stand out from Zi-O and Geiz, but also to cut down on giving her alternate forms so I could focus on upgrades.

Once it was decided that Ruby would get a custom form, I needed to figure out a name. So being fancy and looking stuff up, I chose to go with Roze. And after saying the name a few times I came up with the title.

Planning Phase: Roze from Remnant

Thus the name Roze from Remnant was born, I chose to add the Rider Time Zi-O moniker because at the time we didn't have one. Also just to make it distinct and say that this was basically my own spin on the Zi-O Series. After figuring out Ruby's situation and the general timeline of events I wanted to happen, I started working on figuring out where certain Kamen Riders would show up for tributes.

The first place to start of course was the First Arc, and of course figuring out the first Rider was a no brainer. Build felt like the perfect place to start since there's not much in the way of loose ends. Well I mean there was the V-Cinema but bringing in Killbus that early would be overkill. After Build it was a simple process of looking at all the Quarter 1 Ridewatches obtained in Zi-O and figuring out which ones I wanted to keep and push back for later.

Fourze and Gaim were the two who ended up taking those hits when it came to not appearing in Arc 1. I had pushed Fourze back purposely because I wanted to push him near when Ginga would make an appearance. Now this doesn't mean I'm smashing both Fourze and Ginga together into a singular set of chapters, more so placing the Fourze Tribute and Ginga Debut right next to each other as their own things because they'd complement each other. Gaim however was pushed back purely because I didn't want to have a lot of dry space in future Arcs. I also didn't want to bloat Arc 1 due to making Faiz its own tribute plus adding Ryuki, W, and Kuuga in.

Now Faiz, Ryuki, Ex-Aid, OOO, and Ghost took priority due to Decade Armor being Sougo's first big upgrade for Arc 1. While we've yet to truly delve into Decade Armor, I want to treat it well and give it as many chances to show its stuff as possible. That meant making sure Decade Armor had its full arsenal from the start. And yes, this does mean I'll be utilizing the SO-DO/Buttobasoul exclusive Decade Armor Faiz Form in the story. What helps with me choosing to use these toy/concept forms and armors (like Ryuki Armor) is that thankfully we have a full visual of how they look, so I'm willing to bring them in as full armor times instead of just having the Ridewatches sit around.

Wizard was chosen purely because I wanted to make sure Geiz had all of his exclusive forms from the get go. I also made changes like leaving Geiz as Ghost Armor's exclusive owner, and got rid of the Drive Ridewatch early to avoid later complications.

That left W and Kuuga who were specifically done because I wanted to do a big Heisei Generations Forever styled set of tributes towards the climax of Arc 1. Not to mention with the lack of Fourze and Gaim Armor, I felt one differently styled Armor Time was needed via W Armor. Likewise, the simple Kuuga Armor helped balance out the fact that I utilized the simplistic Ryuki Armor.

And that was pretty much my thought process behind the broader aspects of planning Arc 1. I'll be doing a tribute by tribute breakdown on certain quirks each tribute had. And afterwards I'll be answering any questions that haven't been covered by my explanations by that point.

Kamen Rider Build Tribute:

-Another Cross-Z was pulled into the arc purely because the planned ending fight basically felt so lopsided with only Another Build. Splitting Build, Cross-Z, Zi-O, Geiz and Roze among two Another Riders felt better than having them all just pile on one.

-Due to Another Build just being a basketball player I decided to go basic in regards to Another Cross-Z. I originally thought of maybe it being New World Ryuga, but felt like the reveal to Ruby that Sento and Ryuga aren't exactly from the same Earth could come at a later time like in the Interlude.

Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Tribute:

-Fun Fact: The Genius Gamer KZ that Ruby runs across is actually a reference that no one got! Impressive! Honestly I wasn't expecting anyone to speak up or mention it because it was a minor reference at best. Genius Gamer KZ is based off the Youtuber/Streamer KZxcellent who is also a part of the Gigaboots Podcast Network. While no one has seen his face, his most iconic feature that sticks in thumbnails, profile images, etc, is that he wears classic 3D Glasses. So I included those as part of his brief appearance description.

-Mighty Creator VRX was basically the first of my invisible rule that I invented for Quarter One specifically. In that all veteran Riders have their final forms available, but if possible I wanted to have them utilize different less used/rare forms instead of busting the fights with their Final Forms.

Kamen Rider Faiz Tribute:

-Another Faiz was the first Another Rider I figured out in regards to making new candidates. Mostly because you have the Arch Orphnoch as this big loose thread and he just fades into the background. So I figured I'd give him a proper send off.

-The Orphnoch that show up in the story are the ones from Faiz's solo flick, Paradise Lost. Because I'm following the series and not the movie, it allowed me to use them as "Orphnoch born between 2003 and 2018" to allow for fodder for the Riders to truly show their stuff.

-Faiz's unique form/weapon had me stumped for a while. I had even considered using the Faiz Sounder boombox at one point. That was until I saw some commercials and old promo's where he was wielding a pointer enhanced Faiz Phone.

-Originally the Kaixa Watch wasn't going to be claimed in the Faiz Arc but a later Arc that would likely involve time travel. My co-consultant Josh had managed to help me come up with the idea of the Watch activating around Kaixa Day, it also enforcing the idea of feelings determining the Ridewatches form and not just the powers themselves deciding that.

Kamen Rider Wizard Tribute:

-While not appearing personally, I decided to utilize the plot point of Shunpei creating more rings for Haruto. The Rose ring was a Ruby themed reference to the Flower Ring from Wizard's movie and the Swap Ring was to allow the swapping of Mantle's and Dragon Forms from the Hyper Battle DVD to give both Wizard and Beast unique forms to use.

-Mayu tricking Tid into think she's under his control was a direct reference to the same thing Sento pulled in Heisei Generations Forever. I figured since overcoming a Phantom to become a Wizard requires a lot of willpower that Wizard's would be resistant to Tid's abilities.

Interlude 1:

-This one was actually written after the W Tribute in terms of writing order. I had Ruby mention Sento and the trials involving her bike in the W Tribute. But I also felt like it would be a fun short story to tell. I also wanted to set up Interludes as a concept early on instead of suddenly diving into it later.

Kamen Rider OOO Tribute:

-The original idea for Another OOO was just going to be a Greeed-like being that would grow in desire and utilize Sougo's desire to become a king to grow stronger. At least until I watched the OOO Final Stage that got subbed. That was when the idea of utilizing King OOO by having him transcend time to arrive in the future became a thing. Since in the stage show they had his desire be so great he was able to transcend dimensions. The Gold Core that forms from the Foundation X Medals is also a reference to the Gold Core Medal King uses in the Stage Show to kick off his plot.

-Mukachiri was not originally planned to be in the arc alongside Yadokari, those were only placed in after Memory of Heroez teased Mukachiri. The original special form Eiji would use was going to be Super TaToBa. Super TaToBa being the key to victory in negating the Time Jackers powers for the tribute was also planned from the start.

-Ankh's Tajador form is a specific reference to S.I.C. the Super Imaginative Chogokin line as there was a figure in it called Tajador Combo, Lost Blaze Version. Also Ankh's and Eiji's first words to each other are a mixture of the conversations from Heisei Generations Final and Memory of Heroez when the two reunite in them.

Kamen Rider Ryuki Tribute:

-This arc's basis is a mixture of elements from Rider Time Ryuki, though with Odin as the full mastermind behind the Rider War and not Sara trying to find someone to stop her boyfriend. All of the other Ryuki Riders picked to fill out the ranks aside from Shinji, Ren, and Miho are also exclusive to Rider Time Ryuki.

-I wasn't originally going to have Ruby's Silver Eyes activate and draw everyone else in. It was just going to be everyone bumping into each other and fighting off Another Ryuki before Odin came in to deliver the time limit change.

-Miho was picked for the third returning rider slot mostly because I wanted to give Femme some love. But also because I couldn't figure out much to do with the other canon Riders and I absolutely did not want Ouja involved.

-This starts the trend of Tsukasa's early bird cameos before his proper debut that I had planned in initial drafting, because with the Ryuki and Knight Ridewatches staying intact I wanted to place emphasis on how outside the norm this was. Thus Tsukasa's first appearance here was placed here to emphasize that.

Interlude 2:

-Fun Fact: The idea of Ruby contemplating her friends and family back home alongside her current friends at sunset after what seemed like a long day is a reference to Bleach's 2nd ED: Thank You! No seriously, that's basically what I based those parts of the scene on.

-Speaking of, I'd consider Over Quartzer the general opening theme for the fanfic, since I've yet to really feel the need to create my own with other songs. That being said, I'd absolutely say in terms of style and tone, Thank You! from Bleach would be the Ending Theme of the Lost Huntress 2018 Arc.

Kamen Rider W Tribute:

-I wanted to try and put a bit of a mystery in this arc, even if I didn't have many candidates for this. Originally this was just going to be a small grouping of Foundation X members before it spiraled into the psychotic fanatics of Lovely Corp.

-The rabbit masks Lovely Corp's employees and mascots wear is a reference to the Rainbow Line President from ToQger. I had that exact imagery in my head when wanting to figure out what I wanted the mascot head to look like.

-Lovely Squadron Dopantenger was another reference to the OOO Final Stage where the Greeed of the World of Putotyra formed the Desire Sentai Greeedman (No Seriously). Ruby's "I feel like we're violating something…" line is a reference to Goto calling out how despite being from the same company they're going to get scolded as he then proceeds to bow profusely for the Greeed becoming a Sentai rip off.

Kamen Rider Kuuga Tribute Arc:

-This tribute was originally just going to be Another Kuuga rampaging, the Zi-O Riders being unable to put a dent in him, and Sougo and Ruby going back to try and fix things. It eventually evolved when I figured it would be a good capstone of how far everyone's come. This is what led me to having the first chapter focus on all the Riders that Ruby specifically connected with. This is also what led to me deciding Ruby to be a pseudo-singularity point.

-Indonesia was just a location I picked at random. I wanted a foreign beach locale so I chose a beach area in Indonesia as the setting for the battle against Another Kuuga. Australia was picked for Tid's hideout due to it being rather close by.

-I'd like to credit Josh with the idea of using the Gouram as armor for the Time Mazine, as the original idea was just going to be using the Kuuga Unit Time Mazine to weaken Another Kuuga. It was a last minute decision that showed up when I was getting close to writing the Tribute.

Kamen Rider Ghost Tribute Arc:

-This is one of the few times I decided to leave the main A-Plot of a Zi-O Tribute relatively intact as I honestly loved this one. The resulting planning for this chapter basically just came from rearranging stuff with Tsukasa and utilizing the active Ghost crew to spice things up.

-Uhr was changed as the one who interacts with Tsukasa instead of Ora because of a plot point later on about his knowledge and involvement via Another Ryuga. It felt odd to me how only Ora ever hung around him and then Uhr goes "Yeah Tsukasa told me this" in the Ryuga Arc. Speaking of, yes this is me confirming the Ryuga Arc as a thing that will be happening.

-I purposely left present day Makoto and Alain out of this because well, I couldn't fit them in easily. Alain's got a lot on his plate and given supplemental Ghost material, Makoto's MIA and just keeping to himself. It's why I didn't have Ruby claim the Specter Ridewatch. No need to worry though, while this is one of the few that won't be collected immediately, they will all be collected.

-I didn't want Sougo to do a repeat of Build Sparkling twice in a row since he uses it in the next chapter to counter Tsukasa. So that's why I gave the first transformation to Ryuki Survive instead. I also felt the need to jazz up Grateful's usage by utilizing its full summon ability and bring out Nobunaga. Also as a way to reference the Nobunaga bit I ended up getting rid of during the 9-5-DO segment of the OOO Arc.

From 2068 to Remnant:

-I had always planned to bring The Quartzers in this early, especially since the show doesn't really deal with the Dai Mazines while the Movie does and that's an alternate timeline. Given The Quartzers are tied heavily to the Dai Mazines, I figured their appearance would be their doing. Now I know that the Kasshine's are also part of The Quartzer ranks, so you might be hung up on one detail since I'm bringing them in. Why does Oma Zi-O control only at least one Kasshine? Well that's something for another time.

-Zi-O's take on Decade is fun to write, and I don't mean the character in this case. I mean the power set that Tsukasa utilizes now. See, not only did the Neo Decadriver get rid of the need to constantly load cards for certain things, as seen with certain Riders in the show, Tsukasa just has access to all their powers even in base form.

-The original plan was just for Ruby and Team Zi-O to make their way to the house that everyone was living at during Volume 5. But I figured we could include an action scene just to set the mood better and to make the chapter longer. Sougo and Geiz jumping in to help all the way to Ruby's reveal as Roze felt like a better build up than Ruby just opening the door and saying "I'm back".

Questions that may have not been answered in the resulting explanations:

Unknown 1 Asked: (Do you have a place to see some original artworks if not do you know who does a bit of your artworks?)

Answer: I'm not sure what you mean by this question so I'll try to answer it the best I can. I assume you mean the covers for my stories on . Essentially those are all created by me via Photoshop CS2, I don't exactly have a place where I just host them however. I've also yet to have any actual artwork commissioned for Roze from Remnant.

Blackmetalzane22 Asked: (How does Woz not know Oma Zi-O, his overload, is the one that brought Ruby to Earth. I would think he'd tell Woz about this or at least tell him that his, Oma Zi-O's, timeline will be different, but not to do anything about that. The other question is how Oma Zi-O learned about Remnant and Ruby. We know he knows about Salem and learned enough about Ruby to take her away, but how did he learn all that?)

Answer: This is something I haven't really fully developed yet but do plan to and have already sort of started to do. Oma Zi-O is Sougo, and Sougo's sort of a bit of a jokester, and I try to play that aspect up. While he would lose a lot of his youthful spark as Oma Zi-O, I still feel some of it is there. One example being him sending Ruby to Earth but not telling Woz about it in the slightest. While he wouldn't be able see Woz's reactions, he'd still find it amusing and also wanted to pull his vassals leg a little.

As for how Oma Zi-O learned about Remnant and Ruby? That's future plot related stuff that will be answered so I can't really answer that here.

Jacob9594 Asked: (What inspired you to have Ruby a Kamen Rider/Why just her and not other members of Team RWBY?)

Answer: Ruby being a Kamen Rider was pretty much a way to make the story more interesting. This was especially the case when I decided Ruby would be Roze specifically. It allows her growth to benefit the story more and allows her inevitable upgrades to come out as more impactful. As for why she was specifically taken, it was to cut down on the bulk of characters. As much as I love RWBY it does have quite a large cast, and adding that to the cast of four that is the Zi-O Crew would have made things a bit overwhelming at first. Ruby was selected alone based on the fact that she would be returning to Remnant eventually.

And that's just talking cast size and not actual Rider size when it comes to potentially making WBY actual Kamen Riders. Woz and Tsukuyomi are coming eventually, so that would put the cast at five riders. Add even three more onto that and that's eight in total and that might end up getting overwhelming in the end. That's not to say I don't have plans for WBY specifically, but we'll get there when we get there.

Unknown 3 Asked: (In the future just out of curiosity are you gonna include ruby in a hyper battle DVD arc?)

Answer: Now this one I chose to answer since well, there's not much to spoil since those are fun little side stories. I may consider doing relevant Hyper Battle DVD stuff for maybe a one-off Chapter that's longer than the usual interlude. As of right now my plans contain BillBill Geiz as one of the Chapters I want to do. As for Ruby specifically… I hadn't really thought of an original one starring her but we'll see.

Xamusel – Gamma 11 Asked: (Will Sougo unlock his Semblance in the world of Remnant, and what will It be/Are you planning to give Tsukuyomi and Geiz access to Aura and Semblance?)

Answer: Sougo's Semblance will come in due time though it's not set to appear for quite a while. For the moment he has his Aura, though that will become the topic of discussion at some point in the future. I do at least have plans to have Geiz and Tsukuyomi get Aura eventually, as for Semblances? I'm not sure on that just yet. Now you might be asking, what about Woz? Well, Woz is Woz so I don't think he needs something like that.

Cristos Asked:

1. (Did Oma give Ruby the ability to perfectly speak Japanese in early chapter, or was there some ability to help her translate her words for others to hear?)

Answer: This is something I haven't really touched on because I'd rather not go into insane detail in the story itself. But well, traveling worlds via different means, at least in my story, does have minor effects on people. Depending on the world their body will naturally adapt to necessary changes, such as speaking and reading a language. It feels so natural that most people don't really comment on it all the time. It's also basically a way for me to not have to deal with issues such as language barriers since I don't want to take up any more time with the story than I have to.

2. (When you said that a majority of ZI-O would be used, did that include Decade's new ultimate form? Could that mean we might see some aspects of the Reiwa Era down the line?)

Answer: Legitimately I have a list of characters I'm not using from Zi-O that I can fit on one hand. If I've had access to it, I'm going to be using pretty much all of it. That includes some concepts and nod to things seen in the Rider Time Zi-O/Decade Specials including stuff like Decade's new form. As for the Reiwa Era, the main story of Zi-O will be primarily focused on the Heisei Era.

I will confirm two things since this is something way further along. I do plan on using Zero-One, since I mean we have Another Zero-One so of course. Though the way I utilize Zero-One will be fairly different from Reiwa the First Generation. Saber and Revice though… well Revice just got unveiled so there is no plans on working him in. Saber, while the thought crossed my mind, especially with the Saber Ridewatch, he won't be in the story. Especially since I plan on utilizing Saber in an upcoming crossover story I've been working on.

3. (As you planned this arc, how did you determine the amount of riders you wanted to use before calling it to a stop?)

Answer: I didn't actually get to this in prior stuff so I'll just say my reasoning right now. There's a point in TV Zi-O where they blatantly go, "You have six more Ridewatches to collect before you get your Final Form" and that's how I decided. Since we've gone through half of the Heisei Era already, we have the final half to go, there will be about three tributes in the same sort of cluster together before moving onto the final six. I mostly chose to go 10, then 3, then 6 also because during that cluster of three tributes, there will be a lot of other stuff going on. I know it's a bit vague but I do hope that answered the question.

Final Words:

It was always my intention to make Ruby's journey last long for her while it would only be a few days for her teammates, friends and family. She's been through a lot, and that'll come with its fair share of perks and issues. But thanks to Oma Zi-O and Decade I've literally created a Hyperbolic Time Chamber of sorts for the characters who hop between worlds. Because honestly, having access to time manipulation and travel in a multitude of forms means I can go crazy with it.

But now we've gotten to our second arc, the Rising Riders of Remnant Arc. Things are going to shift ever so slightly in pacing due to the way RWBY's Volumes are paced, mostly Volume 6. But this is the big turning point I've been waiting for you all to get to. There's a lot of fun to be had here and I can't wait for you all to witness it. For now I'll end it with a preview… but not for Roze, I've got a side project cooking as Kamen Rider Saber comes to a close and I'll be ready to start it soon. And I figured I'd announce it here. But enough talk, now for now the big unveiling…

PROJECT SYMPHO-SABER: SONG OF SWORDS

Coming Soon…

Behold I am a madman and have decided to do a Kamen Rider Saber and Symphogear crossover! Even if someone's probably done this idea at some point right? I've actually had this project penned since early March or so but I've decided to sort of wait and see how Saber goes while drafting up a few starting chapters. To those of you who may have managed to find and follow me on social media, yes this was why I was doing semi-live tweets of doing a rewatch of Saber while also catching up. Now that we're into the endgame I can pretty much figure that Saber will be a good fit for this crossover. I'd expect it around Mid August, maybe Early September. It depends since I'll probably still want to see how Saber ends for the most part before fully starting up.
