Rider Time Zi-O: Roze from Remnant
Chapter 74 – Desires and Destiny
Woz gave a worried look as he walked through the void that he and Jinn shared. Despite trying his best to hide it, his partner in narration noticed it immediately.
"What's wrong?" Jinn asked.
"Our fight to help Mantle continues and takes a bit of a surprising turn," Woz admitted as he clutched his book, "We as Team Zi-O helped the Happy Huntresses in a missing person's case, where the prime suspect Veda Mikado was actually an old enemy from an old case. This mysterious Gaim styled Rider was trying to use the people of Mantle to lure Robyn and her teammates in. Her likely plan was to use a specialized drug alongside Nebula Gas Essence to transform them into powerful Smash."
"Did you find out why?" Jinn questioned.
"No," Woz shook his head, "And then there's the fact that she's likely working for a higher group disconnected from Team's RWBY, Zi-O and the Time Jackers…"
"Sounds like you all need to keep your guard up," Jinn mentioned.
"I suppose that's all we can do as the coming peace and progress starts to slow down and come to an end…" Woz gave a nod before going to exit the narrative space.
Remnant – Mantle Streets
"Man this sucks."
"You know it."
Two construction workers were currently sitting against Mantle's outer wall, well, one of the parts that wasn't filled with holes. They were currently at a loss of what to do since they had run out of supplies that the military would usually send. That left them with using what was in their backlog to make up for the fact that they weren't receiving fresh supplies. It was working well until about a day ago when they had run out and weren't able to continue repairs on the wall, even if all they were doing was minor stuff.
"You really think Robyn's going to be able to change things when she gets that seat?" The first worker asked.
"I sure hope so," The second worker said, "The gossip I've been hearing is that even the Council is getting fed up with Ironwood."
"Go figure, huh?" The first worker remarked.
"I figure that once they fill that vacant one, we might have a chance," The second worker said, "Well… so long as it's anyone but Jacques."
"Yeah I'd rather not have Jacques get a seat," The first worker shuddered, "Dude's already bad as it is, like could you imagine what he could do with more power?"
"Yeah you're right," The second worker shuddered as well.
"If its power you're talking about, then I can help you," Uhr said as he was suddenly in front of the two. He drew out two Cell Medals, the coins resonating with both construction workers desire to work on the wall and bringing out coin slots on their heads. Uhr slotted them in before two bandaged Yummies began to emerge from the workers.
It wasn't long before the workers realized that there were monsters in front of them before giving screams and scooting away as fast as they could. Both Yummies gave yells before their bandages began to bulge and snap, starting their transformation into full fledged Yummy forms.
Uhr could only give a smile, "This should be fun."
Remnant – Solitas Tundra
Robyn wasn't known to have the most amazing of ideas from time to time, and in this case it really showed. She was currently watching her Happy Huntresses set up barricades near a small canyon to block the vehicle transports from Atlas to the Schnee Dust Company Mine where Amity was being kept. The hard part was figuring out the patterns to the trucks and who was most likely to be with them. The second hardest part was the timing in setting up barricades and camping out in the Tundra in order to make sure they'd get a drop on the truck. But once those issues were taken care of, all that was left to do was to wait.
"So what exactly is the plan here?" May asked.
"I figured we could try our usual tactic at getting information," Robyn shrugged, "If I'm right then I think we might have a chance to get a little nugget."
"You really think this is a good idea?" Joanna asked.
"Yeah, I mean even with our alliance, even Sougo couldn't tell us," Fiona reminded, "Do you really think someone else would?"
"I know," Robyn sighed, "But that's why I'm doing this, so he doesn't have to tell us anything and risk Ironwood's wrath."
"I have to admit he's got guts," Joanna chuckled.
"Sometimes I think he's way over his head though," May added, "Like I mean, what was it the other day that he wanted to help you with?"
"Huh? Oh yeah he wanted to help me with my speech for the upcoming Election Party," Robyn said, "And I don't know, given my own tendency to be bad at those sorts of things I figured I'd give it a shot."
"I saw what he had for a rough draft," Fiona admitted, "It sounded pretty nice."
"Probably because he had that scarf guy helping him out," Joanna replied.
"Point is, he's doing a lot," Robyn stressed, "And I'd rather not try and squeeze info out of him."
"Fair enough," May said, "So mind actually explaining the plan?"
"You and Joanna will go and scout ahead and to the side with your Semblance active, let us know when they get here," Robyn said, "Fiona and I will stay here to greet our guests. If they remain uncooperative let's see if a little force won't give us what we need."
"Sounds like my kind of plan," Joanna gave a grin.
"Let's just hope we can actually pull it off," May groaned.
Meanwhile on route towards the barricade was an Atlas Military Truck that was currently being driven by an automated Atlesian Knight. At the front with it were Ruby and Penny while in the back were Clover and Qrow, the duo playing a game of cards to pass the time.
"Not that I'm bored," Ruby said as she stared out into the vast nothingness that was the Solitas tundra, normally she'd be wide awake but there was barely anything to do on these long trips so she began to get a bit drowsy, "But why can't we just use an airship to take these supplies to Amity?"
"The components for Amity Tower's construction are far too heavy," Penny explained simply, "All that weight would require precious Dust we should be saving for the launch itself, and the Grimm that will come after."
"It just makes for long… very long… supply runs," Ruby admitted with a yawn.
"At least the tundra is scenic," Penny pointed out as they passed a family of penguins that were off to the side, though that was really the only thing of note.
"Totally," Ruby said, unconvinced since the tundra just looked the same to her before she began to nod off despite the bumps the truck was hitting. It wasn't long before she decided to rest her eyes as her head began to lean towards Penny's shoulder to rest on it.
"Ruby!" Penny suddenly called out, waking the sleepy huntress up by startling her, she soon grinned, "I just wanted to say how excited I am to be working with you in a professional capacity, as friends!"
Ruby had to take a quick breather to calm down from the sudden startling but gave a laugh as she smiled at Penny's words, "Me too, Penny."
"I also have to admit that your friends from Team Zi-O are fantastic," Penny admitted, "Especially Sougo, his dream to become King sounds terrific."
"O-Oh," Ruby stammered slightly, while she was aware of Sougo's ruse she wasn't aware of everything that was made up, "He told you?"
"Affirmative, he mentioned he was the son of his villages head and that their leaders are called Kings," Penny explained, "So I guess he wants to lead his village one day."
"Oh yeah, right," Ruby gave a nod, deciding to play along.
"Is something the matter, Ruby?" Penny tilted her head.
"O-Oh it's just… Sougo usually doesn't tell that to just anyone," Ruby said deciding to cover her tracks, rubbing the back of her head with a smile, "I guess that must mean he really trusts you."
"Well he did say that he wanted to be BFF's," Penny mentioned as she held a finger up, "So I accepted his offer. I was worried since he said that you and I were likely BFF's as well but he said I could have multiple. Do you agree?"
"Of course you can have multiple and of course we're BFF's Penny," Ruby smiled.
"Wow," Penny gave an excited smile, "Relationships are so interesting and varied!"
"Speaking of friends… have you been able to make any new ones aside from Sougo and the others?" Ruby asked, though wasn't sure how to word the rest of her question, "Since, you know…?"
"Now that I'm the official protector of Mantle, I don't really have a team anymore," Penny admitted, "General Ironwood says I don't have time for friends. That is why I am grateful that you all are working with Atlas now, as I can see you whenever you want since we are undertaking one big job."
"Oh, uh, how do you feel about that?" Ruby asked, "The whole no friends thing?"
"I feel like I wish I could do both the things I need to do and the things I want to do," Penny said, "Is that normal?"
"That's about as normal as it gets, Penny," Ruby chuckled.
"Is everything going alright up there?" Qrow asked from the back where he was sitting with Clover.
"Just fine, Uncle Qrow!" Ruby turned and gave a thumbs-up.
"I win again," Clover said as he laid his cards on the supply crate they were using as a table, "Maybe we should call it quits?"
"Shut up and deal," Qrow turned away as he shook his head.
Clover laughed as he began to shuffle the cards, "Your niece sure is one of a kind, huh?"
"They all are," Qrow admitted, even if he knew Ruby was technically more special than the others now, "Been through a lot together."
"It's a good thing they had someone to look up to and get them through it," Clover complimented as he began to deal the cards, "Not everyone is so lucky."
"I don't know about all that," Qrow scoffed, "Thanks, by the way, for looking out for 'em, you and your team."
"What good is saving the world without another generation waiting in the wings?" Clover asked as he slid Qrow's hand over to him, "Hopefully they'll leave Remnant better than we left it for them."
"Once upon a time, I'd have had a drink to that," Qrow remarked as he took his cards.
"You shouldn't do that, you know," Clover mentioned.
"Don't worry, I-I gave that up," Qrow reassured.
"I meant deflect a compliment," Clover clarified, "Those kids wouldn't be where they are without you. You've had more of an effect on them than you realize."
Qrow couldn't help but rub the back of his head and smile from the compliment.
"Uh, Uncle Qrow," Ruby said in a bit of a rushed voice.
"What's going on? Grimm?" Qrow asked he stood up to head to the front of the struck with Clover.
"No, worse," Clover said as he saw what was waiting for them before looking at the uncle and niece, "You two with me. Penny stay put and keep an eye on our six. We may need an element of surprise."
"Affirmative, I will plan for six possible outcomes!" Penny declared confidently as the three with her could only stare at her when she said this.
The truck began to slow down as it approached, Robyn giving a smirk as she stood with Fiona.
"Alright ladies, time to show them our teeth," Robyn said as she readied herself.
It wasn't long before the truck came to a stop with Ruby, Clover and Qrow dismounting and heading to the front. While Clover took the lead, Ruby and Qrow stood off to the side.
"Robyn!" Clover called out, "Well, if it isn't Mantle's home town hero. Is there a reason you're blocking an official military transport?"
"Clover, I'm so glad you're here," Robyn said, confirming that she knew Clover personally, "Maybe you can help me understand why this truck that's supposed to be taking construction materials to fix Mantle's outer wall, is on its way to the middle of nowhere? Are you lost?"
"It's pretty easy to get turned around out here in the tundra, everything looks the same," Clover chuckled as he tried to play it off cool, "Thanks for checking up on us though. We'll be on our way now."
Robyn sighed as she saw him turn around to walk away, "I was hoping you'd play it straight with me. What's Ironwood doing with Amity at the old SDC mine?"
"Oh that," Clover turned, "He's just giving her an annual checkup."
"The next Vytal Festival isn't anytime soon," Robyn retorted, "Only automated drones and a few select Atlas scientists are allowed out here. And Amity's getting invaluable resources we need in Mantle to protect against Grimm. Seems like more than just a check-up."
"You've been scoping it out," Clover crossed his arms.
"We can't fix the walls without the supplies on these trucks," Robyn said as she walked forward to extend her hand, "I think Mantle deserves to know what they're being used for. It doesn't have to be difficult. Just tell me."
"I'm going to have to pass on that," Clover said as he looked to the side.
The leader of the Happy Huntresses frowned before smiling again as she turned her attention to the other two in the area, she figured that they were part of the group Sougo was with based on their looks. She also seemed to recall Sougo specifically talking about a red hooded girl whenever they'd briefly meet…
"How about you, little red," Robyn spoke up, "Five o' clock shadow? Either of you want to tell me why Mantle's being put at risk for Ironwood's pet project?"
Ruby sighed, trying to figure out the best way to go about this, "You need to trust me when I say we're trying to help Mantle. We just-"
"That's enough Robyn," Clover interrupted, not wanting Robyn to get comfortable, "As a potential Councilwoman, you should probably focus on the election instead of harassing Huntsmen. Now, it's time to let us pass."
"I think you've misjudged the situation," Robyn narrowed her eyes, she knew Sougo wasn't going to like her for this, "One way or another, these supplies are going to get where they're supposed to go – Mantle."
"Then I suggest you do that through the proper legal channels as a Councilwoman. If you get elected," Clover said as his voice grew tenser.
"Now where's the fun in that?" Robyn asked.
It wasn't long before an old fashioned standoff took place with Robyn, Fiona, Clover, Qrow and Ruby all preparing for a fight as they waited to see who made the first move. That was until Penny made the first move by flying out from the back and landing on top of the truck, drawing out Floating Array.
"Robyn Hill," Penny called out, "I would like to politely ask that you call off the Huntresses approaching the rear of the truck."
Her three allies could only look back in confusion as there was no one behind the truck in the slightest. That was until they heard Robyn laugh.
"Alright then…" Robyn composed herself, "Joanna, May!"
It wasn't long before the two Huntresses faded back into view behind the truck, both annoyed that their plan didn't seem to work.
"The Protector of Mantle, huh," Robyn stared up at Penny though seemed to have a bit of sarcasm in her tone when it came to the title.
"Let us through, please," Penny frowned, already picking up on the tone of Robyn's use of her title. But she also didn't want to have an unnecessary fight.
Everyone kept tense… until Robyn sighed.
"Let them through Fi," Robyn said as she held up her hands, "Joanna, May stand down."
Her team did as ordered, both Joanna and May lowering their weapons while Fiona went and opened up the barricade.
Penny went to land near the others before joining them to go back inside the truck. Ruby though however gave a glance back at Robyn who made eye contact with her. Despite saying no words they both knew about the other from Sougo, so they figured there was more than meets the eye on both sides of this confrontation.
Robyn's attention turned to Clover however when she saw him turn around.
"Robyn," Clove said, "Good luck at the election."
It wasn't long before everyone piled into the truck before taking off. The Happy Huntresses regrouping as they watched the truck take off further into the Tundra.
"So that plan sucked," May said.
"Hey I'd say we gave it our best shot," Robyn countered before sighing, "That red hooded girl has to be the one Sougo mentioned. She seemed like she was about to be more reasonable than Clover that's for sure."
"Shame she got interrupted," Fiona replied, "I doubt she would have given out anything important but she wouldn't have shut you down like Clover was trying to."
"Well at least the out of town Huntsman seem bearable," Joanna said.
"So what do we do now?" May asked.
"Well I've confirmed that the suspicious project is Amity for sure based on everything so far," Robyn crossed her arms, "I'm wondering if there's a way I can get something out of Sougo..."
"Should be careful," Joanna warned, "Go about it the wrong way and you'll breach his trust with you."
"Not if I'm absolutely transparent about it," Robyn said, "No tricks, just straight up asking and then backing off if he still won't say."
Remnant – Atlas Military Compound
Ironwood was currently reviewing any and all video footage he had of Team Zi-O fighting in their Rider Forms. It was hard to come by admittedly since sometimes their fights had ended up getting cut too short, or they weren't in view of the cameras. The camera issue was bugging him a lot since a lot of Mantle camera's had to be repositioned after being lowered to the point of not being able to see anything.
What helped somewhat was the fact that Team Zi-O easily followed orders. So when Winter or the Ace-Ops asked to spar with them, they politely obliged. Training matches were held against Winter, her summons, the Ace-Ops in various combinations, etc. Over the course of the Amity Project while Team's RWBY and JNR were helping out, Ironwood sought to make progress on his own in regards to the Rider tech and abilities.
"So how's the progress going?" Ironwood asked.
"Well while this is a whole new unknown for us, getting practical data from the training room we were able to make progress," One scientist said.
"I doubt we can replicate a full transformation though," A second scientist admitted.
"True," The first gave a nod, "But we've got our first steps towards figuring out how to create exo-skeleton enhancements. If we continue working on this data we can easily get a working exo-suit of some kind working. It would be one that'd greatly enhance any of our standard soldiers and make our Specialists invincible."
"Slow progress, but progress nonetheless," Ironwood said as he stroked his beard, "It's good to hear that you're getting this working. I hope to hear more progress the next time I check in."
"Of course sir," The second scientist said as the Ironwood went to exit the room.
Remnant – Mantle, Happy Huntresses Hideout
Sougo and Tsukuyomi were currently meeting with Robyn in one of the hideout locations that the Happy Huntresses had. As their time together continued, Sougo began to learn that many of Robyn's actions weren't the most legal. So that meant having hideouts in order to lay low after a heated situation with the Atlas Military.
Robyn herself had gone alone to meet with Sougo and his team, which ended up just being him and Tsukuyomi at the moment. That was also because she was having her team work on a case that she knew was connected to the kidnappings from before.
"Sorry for calling you out here," Robyn said, "But I wanted to talk."
"What did you want to talk about?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"So I might have done something stupid…" Robyn admitted as she put her hands behind her head.
"Robyn…" Sougo trailed with a sigh.
"I might have ended up stopping one of the transports going to Amity," Robyn admitted, "Was hoping since Clover was on there that he'd let some kind of info or reassurance out but he kept shutting me down."
"Wait, you know Clover?" Sougo asked.
"Yeah, he and I are friends of sorts," Robyn said, "I was hoping that maybe us knowing each other might help. But of course he puts military duty over everything else. Your friend, little red, she seemed nice though."
"Oh you met Ruby?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"Yep," Robyn smiled before frowning, "Unfortunately Clover cut her off but she did seem genuine from what little she said…"
"So it was just her and Clover doing the transport?" Sougo questioned.
"Her, some guy with a stubby beard, and the Protector of Mantle," Robyn said, though the two Riders noticed her tone when it came to those last few words.
"Are you okay?" Sougo raised an eyebrow.
"Oh did I let that slip?" Robyn asked before shaking her head, "Sorry, I just don't hold a high opinion of Penny Polendina given well… everything surrounding her. I mean one minute I'm watching her in the Vytal Festival and suddenly thanks to what happened I find out Ironwood made a robot disguised as a human. And then he has her rebuilt and put on display for all of Mantle to see as she "protects" it. It's all a publicity stunt if you ask me."
"You're wrong about her," Sougo shook his head, before clutching his hand near his chest, "I'm just getting to barely know Penny, but I know she has an Aura and that means she has a soul, a heart. She's not just a robot."
"Sougo…" Tsukuyomi muttered as she watched him defend their friend.
"She takes a lot of pride in what she does," Sougo added, "Ironwood may have put her in that position, but she genuinely wants to help."
"You really wear your heart on your sleeve you know that?" Robyn smiled at Sougo's words.
"What can I say," Sougo gave a silly grin, "I think showing you care about others is the biggest step towards being a great leader. That's why I trusted you with this alliance, because you clearly care about the people more than the Kingdom."
"You hit the nail on the head, but speaking of trust…" Robyn trailed before holding out her hand, "I know you can't give away the entire details on what's going on with these supply shifts. But try and reassure me that Ironwood isn't trying anything underhanded."
Sougo looked at Robyn's hand before taking it and giving a nod, "What Ironwood's doing, despite what issues I have with it, will have a huge positive effect on Remnant as a whole."
Robyn's eyes widened when she saw that her Semblance had identified Sougo's words, they were true.
"I suppose that gives me some relief that he isn't wasting anything even if it's frustrating," Robyn said as she removed her hand, "I guess I'll hold off on hounding the Military until after the election."
"That's good to hear," Sougo admitted as he pulled away.
Robyn then heard her Scroll ring as she soon went to answer it, "You got a lead? Good, I'll meet you there with our allies."
"Is everything alright?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"Remember those things you called Inves that escaped after the Fake Mikado incident?" Robyn asked.
"Yeah," Sougo gave a nod, "Didn't they escape into the current sewer network?
"And they had ended up being fast enough to where when you all were done with the fake Mikado their trail had died down," Tsukuyomi said.
"Bingo, but recently maintenance workers have been attacked in specific spots lately by strange looking monsters," Robyn explained, "I think these Inves made a nest in the tunnels."
"But how would that work?" Tsukuyomi asked, "Especially since they're lacking their usual food source."
"Maybe not…" Sougo trailed, "Something tells me if they did set up a nest it was with help. And we need to make sure that nest is wiped out."
"My girls have managed to figure out a general location," Robyn said, "The attacks were likely to keep anyone away from discovering the nest."
"We can't just leave them be," Tsukuyomi said.
"So we'll help," Sougo agreed.
"Good," Robyn smiled, "Think you can call the rest of your team then?"
"Unfortunately we can't," Sougo said, "Geiz and Woz are busy doing an investigation."
Remnant – Mantle Streets
Geiz and Woz both sighed as they followed after Winter, the three heading through the streets to the scene of an incident that had most recently occurred. Someone was targeting the trucks that were being set up to redirect the supplies for Mantle to Amity and stealing said supplies. The reason they seemed dejected was mostly because they seemed to be forced to work together. When the two suggested partnering with someone else, Winter demanded it just be the two of them.
"Sorry about grabbing you two on short notice but the General insisted we handle this immediately," Winter admitted.
"What's the situation?" Geiz asked.
"According to one of our soldiers, two monsters attacked one of the transports that we were planning on sending out," Winter explained, "But they didn't just leave our trucks a wreck, they also took the supplies."
"That isn't good," Woz said.
"Do we have any way to track them?" Geiz asked.
"We do actually," Winter admitted, "We've recalibrated some of the drones to follow but keep at a distance. It seems whatever these monsters are, they aren't too bright."
"What's their current location?" Woz asked.
Winter pulled out her Scroll and narrowed her eyes, "Seems they're heading towards one of the damaged areas of the outer wall."
"Of all places…" Geiz trailed, "If this is what I think it is then this is going to be a pain to handle."
"You and I are on the same page then," Winter said, "Taking the supplies to that damaged wall infers one objective. And I doubt they'll easily give up on that one as well."
"How much longer till we get there?" Geiz asked.
"If we keep up our pace we should be good," Winter said before her eyes widened as she got a call on her radio, putting a finger to her ear.
"Help we've got strange hostiles near the damaged wall! We're trying to-oh god! We need support now!"
"All Units this is Specialist Schnee," Winter immediately spoke into communications, "Do not head to the damaged wall. I am currently on route with two specialized Huntsmen and we will take care of the situation."
"But-"
"No buts," Winter interrupted, "We don't need casualties because we were rushing in without a plan. These new creatures are especially dangerous and only those of the utmost skill should even attempt to challenge them. My team and I will take care of the situation and anyone else is to fall back or not engage, understood?"
Geiz and Woz watched as the Specialist received various confirmations before she turned back to face them.
"Seems we need to get there faster," Winter said.
"You got any ideas on how to get there faster?" Geiz asked, normally he'd bring out his bike but there were three of them at the moment.
"Just one idea," Winter said as she brought out a Summoning Glyph and bringing out her Manticore Summon. It positioned itself low to the ground for everyone to mount it and it took off once the three were on it. Despite having three passengers it flew through the airspace of the city and towards the damaged wall with ease.
The Manticore began to lower itself as it began to approach Mantle's damaged wall as Winter, Geiz and Woz soon saw what was going on. Several guards were unconscious with others starting to pull back but still trying to get some potshots in. The two monsters this time were Yummies, those being the Kabuto and Rikugame Yummies. Behind the two were piles upon piles of crates and supplies that were likely the stolen ones.
"What are those things?" Winter asked, "Those aren't like the ones I encountered previously."
"Yummies," Woz explained, "They are tools used by exploiting the desires of people."
"So these aren't people who transformed into them?" Winter asked.
"Only in certain cases, these would not be that case," Woz said, "Though it could be said that this is a worst scenario as they won't have the kind of restraint a transformed monster would have."
"Then we get down there now," Winter said as she had the Manticore land and give a roar to attract the Yummies attention before dismissing the summon and dropping down with Geiz and Woz, "I'll support you both from afar."
"Sounds good, just don't get too close," Geiz warned as he prepared his Ridewatch and Ziku Driver.
"Let us get going Geiz," Woz said as he drew out his Miridewatch and Beyondriver.
"Don't order me around," Geiz hissed out.
"Henshin!"
[RIDER TIME! KAMEN RIDER GEIZ!]
[TOUEI! FUTURE TIME! SUGOI! JIDAI! MIRAI! KAMEN RIDER WOZ! WOZ!]
The two Riders rushed forward, Woz bringing out his Zikan Despear while Geiz went in with his bare hands. Woz dodged out of the way of the Rikugame's ball and chain. Once close he stabbed forward only to be surprised that while getting a hit in, the attack had barely managed to do any damage to the Yummy.
Geiz meanwhile punched at the Kabuto Yummy only for his fist to get caught. He kicked only for it to get blocked before gasping as he was punched in the stomach. Geiz staggered back before ducking beneath a few swings before giving a yell and punching the Yummy in the gut. Geiz could only stare in surprise as he realized he barely did any damage.
"What?" Geiz asked before gasping as he was kicked back, "Why can't I land a good hit?!"
"No doubt it's the nature of Greeed and Yummies," Woz stated as he spun back to avoid the Rikugame's ball and chain slamming into him, "If you thought that the Trash Yummies you fought prior were incredibly durable then these are on another level."
"It would have been nice for you to say something!" Geiz called out in annoyance as he turned towards Woz, "How is that not the first thing you'd warn about?!"
"I think you seem to miss the fact that I am merely loyal to our leader," Woz remarked, "Besides I told you the information eventually, did I not?"
"That's not the damn point!" Geiz called out.
The Kabuto and Rikugame Yummies looked at each other before moving towards their respective opponents. That was until they were caught off guard, being pounced on by two Beowolf Summons that tried to keep them pinned.
"Will you two be quiet for two seconds," Winter said in a dangerous tone as she gave a glare, "I chose you two because I knew you were avoiding each other. But now I see why, and I could care less about what issues you two have. This is a battlefield not the barracks, you can hash out your feelings later, so tolerate each other and finish this now!"
Both Geiz and Woz felt a shiver as they could feel Winter's glare piercing through their suits, they looked at each other before nodding. Turning back towards the Yummies they watched as the Beowolves were thrown off, the two Summons landing before dismissing themselves.
"So what's a good strategy?" Geiz asked.
"Heavier hits but also spinning weapons such as drills should destabilize their bodies just as easily," Woz explained as he drew out Kikai's Ridewatch, "It was one of the main methods in which Birth was able to defeat them."
"Then I know the perfect form," Geiz said before bringing out the Build Ridewatch.
[ARMOR TIME! BEST MATCH! BUILD!]
[FUTURE TIME! DEKAI! HAKAI! GOKAI! FUTURERING KIKAI! KIKAI!]
The two gained their more mechanical oriented Rider Forms, brandishing their weapons as Winter summoned a larger Beowolf summon to stand between the two. The two Riders and Summon soon rushed forward as the Yummies did the same.
Remnant – Mantle Maintenance Tunnels
Robyn was currently leading the Happy Huntresses alongside Sougo and Tsukuyomi through the tunnel network. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary yet, though the Huntresses all had their weapons primed and ready as they made their way forward.
"You know I never thought that the tunnels would be this wide," Sougo admitted as he looked around.
"At the very least we won't be cramped for a fight," Fiona mentioned.
"Let's just get this over with," May gave a light groan, "As much as I like our hands on approach I hate that we have to do this."
"If anyone should be complaining its Robyn and Fi," Joanna said, "This is their second time down here. So suck it up."
"So we should be fine right?" Tsukuyomi asked, "If I recall you mentioning, coming up where the "nest" likely is, is a storm drain tunnel right?"
"Yeah," Robyn said, "Thankfully we've had a clear few days so we're in the clear."
"So why is it that it Mantle gets rain again?" Sougo asked.
"That's thanks to the Heating Grid," Fiona mentioned, "It builds up enough heat to keep us warm but as a result turns any snow that falls into rain."
"Huh, interesting," Tsukuyomi said.
"Look alive everyone," Robyn said as she aimed forward, the light at the end of the tunnel growing brighter, "We're about to enter enemy territory."
It wasn't long before they made it to a large room that was considered the storm drain tunnel for mantle, various pillars in place and it was rather spacious. They had currently made their way onto a walkway above ground level from the tunnel they had come from. Of course something was already off as there were vines snaking around a few of the pillars, delectable looking fruit hanging from them.
"A garden…?" Fiona asked.
"No," Sougo shook his head, "I think it's our nest."
"Word of warning," Tsukuyomi immediately spoke up, "Do not eat that fruit you're seeing."
"Let me guess, poisonous?" May asked.
"It'll turn you into an Inves," Tsukuyomi answered much to the shock of the Happy Huntresses.
"Okay, significantly worse," May realized.
"Those fruits need to be squished then," Robyn said, ready to hop over the guard rail that was on the walkway only to look up, "Oh no."
The Mutant Komori Inves that had fled before was currently hanging upside down on the ceiling. It stared down at them and gave a yell, unleashing a loud sonic screech to try and disable everyone.
Everyone scattered, Sougo, May and Robyn jumping and dropping down to ground level while Joanna, Fiona and Tsukuyomi had all dodged back into the entrance of the tunnel they had come from. The Mutant Komori Inves leapt from the ceiling and quickly landed to pursue the latter three.
Tsukuyomi however quickly managed to get to the front of Joanna and Fiona, "Henshin!"
[RIDER TIME! KAMEN~ RI~DER~ TSUKU~YOMI! TSU-KU-YO-MI!]
The Komori Inves gave a yell and rushed forward, slashing with its bladed arm only for Tsukuyomi to dodge. She then kicked it in the stomach before spinning away, drawing out her Faizphone X and shooting at the Komori Inves to stun it briefly.
The Komori Inves yelled out as it managed to break free of the stun before leaping towards Tsukuyomi. It gave yelps as it was shot by Lightning Dust tipped bolts courtesy of Fiona. While they didn't stun it, it was slowed down, allowing Tsukuyomi to prepare her Faizphone X.
[BURST MODE!]
"Take this!" Tsukuyomi pressed the trigger and began firing off multiple blasts against the Mutant Komori's upper body, sparks flying as it staggered back.
The Mutant Komori soon screeched out Tsukuyomi, Joanna and Fiona all holding their ears in pain as they tried to block out the screeching.
"This thing's… too loud!" Tsukuyomi winced as she tried to figure out what to do, covering her ears was working but if she let go then she'd hear the full force of the attack. That was until she suddenly noticed the Kodama Suika Arms activate on its own before hopping to the floor in its robot mode. It quickly leapt up and entered its Watch Mode once more before latching onto her Armor Time Slot, "This is…"
Using what little time she had she let go of the sides of her helmet as she activated and spun the Ziku Driver.
[RIDE GADGET!]
[THE SUIKA BOWLING!]
A projection of the Suika Armor formed over Tsukuyomi before folding up into its Oodama Mode. The projection shielded Tsukuyomi from the screeching and was big enough to block it from reaching Fiona and Joanna.
"Alright that's enough!" Tsukuyomi held her hand forward, the Suika Armor projection rolling forward and slamming into the Mutant Komori Inves. Tsukuyomi then looked at her hand and back at the Kodama Suika Arms, "Incredible… I didn't know I could do that."
Sougo meanwhile looked back up where the others were and readied his transformation, "We need to back them up."
"Uh Sougo," Robyn quickly took aim as she spotted something coming out from behind the pillars, it was Kamen Rider Sylphi accompanied by the Kamikiri Inves that had also gotten away, "I think we need to be here."
Sougo turned and his eyes widened, "You…"
"How do you like my little garden?" Sylphi asked, "It'll make a fine place for my Inves to grow."
"You can't take over Mantle with just two monsters," May mentioned, "What's your game?"
"Well that girl told you all already right?" Sylphi asked, "What happens when you eat the delicious fruit…"
"You sick monster…" Robyn's eyes widened as she realized Sylphi's game before giving a glare and readying her weapon alongside May, "We're tearing down this garden effective immediately!"
"I'd like to see you all try to stop me," Sylphi giggled.
"Oh I will," Sougo grew more serious as he stepped in front of two Happy Huntresses, taking out Zi-O II and readying it, "Henshin."
[RIDER TIME! KAMEN RIDER~! (RIDER~!) ZI-O! (ZI-O!) ZI-O~! II!]
Zi-O readied both his Zikan and Saikyo Girades before charging forward, Robyn following up with a few explosive bolts that landed in front of the villainous Rider and Inves. Small explosions kicked up and forced both to step back a bit as a result. Zi-O rushed through, slashing with both of his weapons as he closed in.
The Kamikiri Inves shrieked as sparks flew, staggering backwards while Sylphi blocked with her staff. She then pushed her staff further only for Zi-O to force her into a deadlock with both of his weapons. Quickly thinking she backed away, not noticing the turning of clock hands visible over Zi-O II's face as the eyes glowed brightly.
Sylphi pointed her staff forward, the vines on the pillars lashing out and ensnaring Zi-O by overwhelming him. She then reeled him in before stabbing him straight in the gut, sparks flying as she had her vines throw him away.
"I can see it!"
[ZI-O SAIKYOU! HAOU GIRI!]
Sylphi pointed her staff forward, the vines on the pillars lashing outwards towards Zi-O. Zi-O however spun and slashed outwards, unleashing a rainbow of energy that completely tore apart the vines and the fruits on them.
"What?" Sylphi hissed out before giving a gasp as an explosive bolt hit her hands, the explosion while not damaging her, forced her to let go of her staff. She turned to see Robyn only for May to suddenly appear in front of her. She could only cry out as the end of May's crossbow staff decked her right in the front of the face.
May was ready to advance before gasping and backing up, several tendrils lashing out and striking the ground where she had stood. The Kamikiri Inves quickly leapt into view, performing several punches and kicks to strike at May who quickly backed away from them. It then rushed towards May only for her to vanish before its eyes, so it quickly halted its movements only to get kicked in the back by an invisible May.
"We need to end this," Zi-O muttered before rushing for Sylphi who had just retrieved her bladed staff.
Remnant – Mantle Outer Wall
Winter's tactic was working rather well, her Beowolf was quick enough on its feet that she was able to have it interrupt attacks, or launch its own attacks against the respective Yummies. After that it was Geiz and Woz who quickly dealt counterstrikes to keep the Beowolf from getting struck.
Geiz being able to use the Drill Crusher Crusher alongside his Zikan Zax was a deadly combination. He used the drill to destabilize the Kabuto Yummie's body before digging in deeper with the Zikan Zax's blade. Though it was worth noting that despite seeming like they had Cell Medals, none had ended up flying out because of their attacks.
Woz meanwhile was able to go for powerful strikes and slashes with his Zikan Despear, occasionally bringing out Futurering Kikai's extra arms to keep the Rikugame Yummy from counterattacking. Of course despite this he wasn't pushing as hard as Geiz was when it came to the attacks. The result being the Rikugame Yummy quickly retracting into its shell before spinning around rapidly and trying to ram into Woz.
Woz had managed to just dodge out of the way a couple times only for the Rikugame Yummy to catch up. It raised itself high before bringing its arms and legs out. It then launched downwards to slam into Woz with its ball and chain. Woz wasn't going to make it until the Beowolf Summon tackled him, getting both to safety before fading.
"You need to be more careful," Winter chided as she chose to dismiss her summon for the time being. She needed to conserve Aura, making sure she wasn't burning it all controlling one of her summons.
"Right, I shall finish this as fast as I can," Woz declared.
"Go away…" The Rikugame Yummy groaned out.
"Allow us to complete the desires of our hosts!" The Kabuto Yummy yelled out as it punched at Geiz only to get blocked before getting drilled into, "We are to use the supplies to rebuild this wall!"
"So that's why you guys are so tough," Geiz remarked.
"I figured that this was their motivation… but…" Winter trailed.
"I mean to be fair, it makes sense. You Atlas folks aren't giving people many options."
Winter quickly turned and pointed her sword, several feet away from her was Uhr who was watching with a smile.
Woz and Geiz gave a gasp, "Uhr?!"
"Who are you?" Winter gave a glare.
"An enemy of Zi-O," Uhr said simply before immediately pivoting, "Man it must stink being on the sidelines like this… I mean if you had the kind of power the people in Mantle have been picking up… I'm sure you'd be able to do whatever you wanted."
"No thanks," Winter kept her sword pointed, "I've seen what your kind has been giving to the hard working people of this Kingdom. And I will never submit to that kind of thinking, because there's no point to that kind of power if I lose myself like the others."
"Huh, look at how high and mighty you are," Uhr scoffed, "Come on, you really don't want the power my group's giving out?"
"As I said before, no," Winter repeated as she glared, "All your power has done is hurt people and cause more internal strife for this Kingdom. And I will not allow that."
"Suit yourself then," Uhr shrugged before turning, "Though I doubt everyone in your little military group thinks the same way."
"You shut your mouth this instant!" Winter glared further as she summoned a Fire Glyph, launching a fireball out towards Uhr. The fireball ended up simply striking a building as Uhr had sped off and disappeared. Winter began to work on taking deep breaths as she tried to compose herself.
"The hell was that about?" Geiz asked before ducking underneath a swinging kick from the Kabuto Yummy.
"I suggest we finish this now," Woz said as he dodged out of the way of the ball and chain. The ball slamming into the ground and causing an indentation before Woz pushed his foot against the ball to keep it stuck. He then stabbed his Despear into the chain and shattered it, severing the ball from the chain.
"Sounds good by me," Geiz said as he readied his finisher.
[FINISH TIME! BUILD!]
Geiz held his drill backwards as multi-colored equations began spiraling around him. It wasn't long before they were drawn towards the drill which began to spin rapidly. Soon enough a tornado of multi-colored energy surrounded the drill as he launched forward.
[VORTEX TIME BREAK!]
The Kabuto Yummy gave a yell and crossed its arms to brace against the attack. Geiz gave a yell as he punched forward, the drill piercing through the defense of the Yummy. The energy began to build and build before the Yummy exploded, though like before there didn't seem to be any Cell Medals that had dropped despite being a Yummy.
[BEYOND THE TIME! FULL METAL BREAK!]
Woz reeled his right arm back, it giving a bright yellow glow as he summoned and enlarged spectral version of Kamen Rider Kikai's right arm behind him. He then gave a yell as he punched forward, the arm following his movements and nailing the Rikugame Yummy straight in its chest and gut. The Rikugame yelled out as it was blown backwards, sparks flying before it exploded.
"That takes care of that," Woz dusted his hands off.
"I suppose it does," Geiz said as he dismissed his transformation and walked over to Winter who had just turned in time to see the finishers go off, "You alright?"
"I'll be fine," Winter said, "I'm sorry if I was lacking in support there at the end."
"It is quite alright," Woz said as he walked over while dismissing his transformation, "You were wise to keep your guard up as the Time Jackers are very cunning."
"Right," Winter said, though admittedly she wasn't keeping on lookout for Uhr more so than trying to make sure she calmed down a reasonable amount, "I'll call in some troops to retrieve the materials so they can get sent to the proper location."
"Even after all this you still want to do that, huh?" Geiz asked.
"Given these materials are specifically meant for helping with our mission, yes," Winter said before her face softened slightly as she only now saw firsthand how bad the damage in Mantle's wall was, "That being said I'll see if we can maybe divert some of our materials to fixing the wall. Though I doubt the General will budge."
"So long as you try," Geiz said, "That's all that matters."
"Agreed," Woz nodded.
Remnant – Mantle Maintenance Tunnels
The Komori Inves had quickly flown back into the main area where everyone else was fighting. It was attempting to get away from Tsukuyomi who was managing to force it back thanks to some help from Joanna and Fiona.
[RIDE GADGET!]
[FIRE/BLIZZARD/THUNDER HAWK!]
Tsukuyomi had caught onto her Rider Forms specialized abilities almost instantly and had loaded up the Taka Watchroid. She held her hand forward as multiple spectral copies of the Taka Watchroid launched out from the tunnel and raced after the Mutant Komori Inves.
Of course the spectral copies also coated themselves in fire, ice, and electrical energy respectively. All of them began flying around and striking at the Komori Inves, managing to knock it around as sparks flew from its wounds.
"Now's my chance," Tsukuyomi held a hand out to freeze the Mutant Komori in place via time stop. She then removed the Rider Gadget from her belt before jumping up into the air while initiating her finisher.
[FINISH TIME! TIME JACK!]
Tsukuyomi shouted as she kicked against the Mutant Komori Inves' chest, pushing further as she caused it to explode. Falling through the explosion she landed to see the remaining fights starting to wind down as well.
Sylphi was currently battling both Robyn and May, despite Zi-O's insistence that he handle things. The Kamikiri Inves had also ended up getting in Zi-O's way as per Sylphi's commands.
Sylphi had retrieved her staff and was currently using it to keep both Happy Huntresses at range. Of course that didn't help when May could turn invisible and easily sneak around while Robyn focused on jumping around and distracting the villainous Rider. While the two weren't doing any real lasting damage, they were keeping her occupied.
"That's enough!" Sylphi called out as she sent an invisible command out, the remaining vines lashing out and striking at Robyn, "Come now, why won't you people simply become my subjects?!"
"Sorry to say but I'm already dealing with an oppressive force and I don't need another," Robyn yelped as she dodged out of the way.
May had gotten tripped up, giving a gasp as she quickly went on the defensive while moving back.
"Come now, becoming an Inves isn't so bad," Sylphi remarked, "And if you're strong willed or stubborn enough you can become even stronger and keep your sanity."
"Sounds awful if I'm being honest," May said as she batted away a few vines before leaping back to avoid the rest.
"Yeah, how about no," Robyn rolled away before shooting at a few vines to keep them at bay.
Zi-O gave a few yelps as he began batting away the tendril strikes from the Kamikiri Inves. He quickly removed the Best Face from his Saikyo Girade and tossed it up in the air, defending against the tendrils while combining both his swords together. He spun away while grabbing the Best Face and attaching it to his combined weapon.
[SAIKYO FINISH TIME!]
Zi-O gripped his weapon with both hands, an energy blade emerging from it and extending upwards. Of course he had to be mindful of his surroundings and it wasn't as large as he'd usually make it. He performed a quick horizontal slash against the Kamikiri Inves. The Inves was sliced through before fully exploding. Despite this, energy was still building up in the sword as he turned towards Sylphi.
[KING GIRI GIRI SLASH!]
Sylphi was laughing before she paused when hearing the announcement. She turned and gave a light gasp as she watched a giant golden energy blade hurtle down towards her. She gathered all the vines that were still available to her before wrapping them around her like a shield. Zi-O was quick to slice through the shield just as they formed, Sylphi giving a yell as the resulting explosion blasted her backwards.
"It's over," Zi-O called out.
"Oh it's far from over brat…" Sylphi hissed out as she managed to shakily stand, though she knew that she wouldn't last long like this. Regardless their plan to take advantage of the Time Jackers presence in Mantle had failed on her front. She'd just have to hope that her boss knew what he was doing on his side, "That being said, I suppose this world is a bust for me. So consider yourselves lucky that I'm giving up."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"Who are you working for?" Zi-O asked.
"Sorry to say but that I can't tell," Sylphi soon formed a Crack underneath her, falling through before it zipped up instantly.
"Jeez," Robyn sighed before giving a small smile, "Well at least she said she's giving up."
"That's what you take away from this?" Joanna remarked with a deadpan expression as she walked over with Fiona.
"I mean hey, if she's giving up then that's good to hear," May shrugged, "Election Night's like literally two days away and I'm sure our up and coming Councilwoman doesn't need strange monster stuff happening."
"Fair," Joanna said.
"Well that's at least we got that loose end wrapped up," Tsukuyomi said.
"Yeah, but I've still got a bad feeling about this," Zi-O admitted.
Remnant – Mantle, Time Jacker Hideout
"So another bust," Swartz said as he sat at the main desk in his hideout, "That's a shame."
"Honestly they've really been on top of our schemes," Ora sighed as she was lying on the couch.
"Unfortunately we haven't had many customers come by," Uhr sighed as he leaned against the door, "People seem to not care about getting powers and abilities."
"I mean you can guess why," Ora said, "Kamen Rider rumors are already floating around. It's clear that they're gaining a reputation as the ones who can stop us."
"Only the most desperate would come to seek our help," Swartz said.
"Regardless with that election happening soon… I think we'll get our chance," Finis smiled as they simply paced around, "No doubt whoever's been messing with the security feeds will make their move at the most tactical moment."
"Then I suppose we should simply sit back and watch," Swartz said as he leaned back, "And I won't take no for an answer."
The Next Day
Remnant – Atlas Academy, Training Room
Both Weiss and Winter were currently taking up the training room for the hour. The two were utilizing their summons in a battle in order to improve Weiss' control over her summon's movements. It was Weiss' Arma Gigas vs. Winter's Beowolf, the two charging at each other and exchanging blows. Winter had to admit to herself that despite her trying to make the training as intense as possible, she couldn't help but feel relaxed. After dealing with the Yummies and meeting Uhr the prior day, she could use a day of normalcy like this.
It wasn't long before the final blow was struck, the Beowolf clawing off the Arma Gigas' head. That was until it realized it had gotten impaled by the sword of the summoned knight, it fading away as well. This had surprisingly resulted in a tie between the two sisters.
"Your technique still has those maddening sloppy touches. But you've learned how to make them work for you," Winter said, "You've made them your own."
"Wow, that was very close to a compliment," Weiss smiled.
"I didn't intend it that way," Winter narrowed her eyes.
"We all make mistakes, I guess," Weiss teased further.
"You've grown up a bit, haven't you?" Winter asked with a bit of a laugh, "You're not the little girl clinging to the family name anymore."
"Since Beacon, I haven't really had a choice," Weiss said as she put a hand on her hip, "Father's view of the world no longer matches with mine. Especially traveling with the others, meeting Sougo and his team… he, well they've sort of opened my eyes to a bigger picture."
"Seems they've made quite the impression on you," Winter said, "I can't help but admit they've left something of a minor one on me as well."
"Sougo will do that to you," Weiss gave a genuine smile.
Winter seemed to notice that Weiss had zeroed in on Sougo specifically and raised an eyebrow but decided not to press it, she walked over and placed a hand on her sisters shoulder, "Whatever the case, I am glad to see you've moved on. Distancing myself from the Schnee name is the most beneficial thing I've ever done. We can move forward without him, together. I know General Ironwood would have a place for you."
"I would be grateful to him if he did," Weiss said, "But I'm not sure I could accept."
Winter was a bit surprised, "Really?"
"It's just…" Weiss said as she walked away to sit on a protruding hard-light block, "Our kingdom isn't supposed to be like this, fearful and withdrawn. We should be opening our borders to the world, not closing them down."
"We will, though," Winter reassured, "Once we've weathered the storm, we will. I know the General hasn't done everything perfectly, but he's doing what he thinks is right."
"I've seen a lot," Weiss admitted, "People who think they're doing the right thing, only to be manipulated by others, or losing themselves in their goals. You can think what you're doing is right, but a lot of the time, you're just looking out for yourself or your secrets."
"Ironwood isn't keeping secrets," Winter said, deciding to focus on that aspect of Weiss' response, "Not from me."
"Can you be sure?" Weiss asked but didn't exactly seem surprised when Winter didn't immediately answer.
Winter gave a sigh, knowing she'd have to explain this later but she had talked about it to Ironwood prior so it wasn't entirely out of nowhere. She walked over to her sister, "Come with me. There's something I want to show you."
Remnant – Atlas Medical Facility
Weiss was a bit surprised to see her sister ask to follow her to a medical facility labeled M3. It seemed to be a heavily monitored facility at that with workers all going about their business and lining the halls while manning the computers. Winter led her sister through a door with two guards posted, leading her into a long hallway with dozens of cameras mounted alongside Atlesian Knights as guards.
Eventually Weiss was led into an observation area overlooking a patient's room with a one-way window. Inside was a simple room, a small kitchen, a machine with two pods against the wall. One of the walls had a set of various paintings hung on it. In the main patients bed was an older woman with Winter soon entering from the main door and going to converse with her. As they talked, Winter prepared some tea before going to sit with her while talking some more. It wasn't long before the realization dawned on Weiss of who this old woman was.
Winter eventually went to clean the cups and put them away before saying goodbye to the woman and exiting.
"That's the Winter Maiden," Weiss said as she watched her sister enter the observation area.
"She could pass any day now," Winter said, "Until that happens, I'm the only person Fria's allowed to see."
"Ironwood's chosen you to be the next…" Weiss paused as she was hit with the realization, "W-When she dies. How long have you known?"
"Since Beacon fell," Winter said.
"Doesn't it bother you?" Weiss asked, a bit frustrated that another person in her life was now having their destiny laid out for them by someone. Swartz doing it to Sougo for some unknown purpose, and now Ironwood to her sister, "He practically groomed your entire military career."
"It did at first, when the General first proposed it to me," Winter admitted as she knew her sister's concerns, "But the more I thought about it, the more I saw it as a privilege, a chance to do some real good for Atlas, for Remnant."
"But your destiny was chosen for you, without your input," Weiss reminded.
"Perhaps, but I'm choosing it now. I've made it my own. And I take great pride in it," Winter said, "That has nothing to do with Father, or the General… That belongs to me."
"I guess we've had to do a little bit of that," Weiss admitted, though she wondered if Sougo would react the same if told the truth about the dreams he had, "Carving out our own way."
"I suppose we have," Winter said before hearing her Scroll beep, she opened it up to reveal that she had a message on her classified section from Ironwood. She saw a message to check the news before opening up a live broadcast, "Speaking of the family name."
"What is he doing?" Weiss asked as she saw their father step up to a podium in front of the Schnee Manor.
"If I'm elected Councilman, I've made it no secret I will be opposing General Ironwood and his senseless embargo that is crippling all of Atlas. It is my belief that these measures are not only reckless, but criminal," Jacques explained as he continued his announcement, "With no shipments allowed to enter or leave the kingdom, I know many are suffering. And my family has been weathering the same storm as many of you. Effective immediately, I am forced to shut down all nonessential SDC operations. If elected to office, I will make the changes necessary to fix what Ironwood has broken. I hope you ask yourself before the vote, can you trust anyone else to stop Ironwood? Will Robyn Hill be able to get your jobs back?"
Winter and Weiss could only watch in horror as they realized what this was likely to do to the people of Mantle in regards to reactions.
"I think… I think Father may have just provided the spark that's going to set this kingdom on fire," Winter realized.
To Be Continued…
Next Time:
"You're giving us the night off?"
"I've got a pair from Atlas showing up anyway, can't have that risk."
"You're still worried about how they'll react."
"Just keep doing what you've been doing."
"There's no way she could have…"
Chapter 75: An Evening Break
Author's Note: Of course Sylphi wasn't going to be a one and done, especially with the loose thread of escaped Inves. Though she seems to have backed off for the time being, which is good given there are other troubles brewing as Volume 7's main plot will continue the next chapter. Though I am glad I'm able to get everyone talking with Evolt's reappearance, I have some fun plans that involve him, I'll let you all know that much.
Just as a reminder that in January we won't have any updates for Roze from Remnant and we'll be continuing the story in February. But other than that, we've hit the last chapter of the year and boy what a year it has been. I've released the most chapters ever thanks to my backlog and I'm looking to release a pretty sizeable amount next year as well. 2024 might be when we finally slow down but who knows, that's another year off at this point.
Regardless, I'd like to thank everyone over the past year for their continued support, whether it be reviews, comments, favorites, kudos, bookmarks, follows, etc. You guys really are one of my motivating factors when it comes to writing this story so again, thank you.
