Chapter 209: Dante and Erza vs Jose!
"Master how is your shoulder" asked Erza in a concerned tone as she watched Dante eat his breakfast. Smiling at Erza, Dante started to speak.
"It's a bit sore but I feel fine Erza" responded Dante in a kind tone before he continued eating his breakfast.
"Wow you're really tough master" responded Ruby in a happy tone. Smiling at his newest whore, Dante started to speak.
"Haha yup, I am one of Fairy Tail's strongest after all" responded Dante with a smile. Together the three of them continued to make small talk while eating breakfast. Once breakfast was finished, Dante stood up and stretched along with the others.
"We should contact the others and group back up" stated Dante as he stretched his body. Nodding her head, Erza started to speak.
"That's a good plan master. We are much stronger together rather than by ourselves and we will need all of our strength to face Jose whenever he decides to show himself" responded Erza in her typical business like tone reserved for jobs. Just after Erza said these words, a large explosion appeared a short distance away. Dante and the others turned their attention towards the large explosion.
"Damn that must be him. Jose must be pissed that we took out his lieutenants and stopped his efforts of gathering funds" stated Dante in an angry tone. Nodding her head in agreement, Erza started to speak.
"Yes I would have to agree. The magical power that I am sensing is unreal, it must be Jose" responded Erza in a tense tone. Again, another large explosion appeared, this time closer as it tore apart a few buildings. Seeing this Dante swore to himself, Jose was going to tear apart the entire town at this rate. Turning his attention towards Ruby, Dante started to speak.
"Ruby get everyone to safety. Jose is going to hurt a lot of people if we let him" stated Dante in a serious tone. Ruby had a look of protest on her face as she started to speak.
"Hold on master, I can help! I want to fight! Jose needs to pay for what he did to me, my sister and my friends" responded Ruby in a determined tone. Shaking his head at Ruby, Dante started to speak.
"No Ruby, you are still too injured from our fight yesterday. You would just get in the way if you fought with us" responded Dante in a serious tone.
"But" Ruby started to say before Dante cut her off.
"But nothing Ruby. Trust me, Erza and I are some of the toughest wizards in the entire kingdom. We can handle Jose. I need you to use your speed magic to make sure everyone is evacuated. This fight is going to cause a lot of collateral damage" responded Dante in a serious tone. Ruby looked like she wanted to argue further but the look from Dante told her that he didn't want to hear it. Sighing in defeat, Ruby started to speak.
"Okay fine, but you better hit Jose extra hard for me" responded Ruby with a forced smile. Ruby wanted to fight alongside Dante, the man she had quickly fallen in love with, but she could not argue with the fact she would likely just slow him down in her current state. Smiling at Ruby, Dante started to speak.
"You got it Ruby. Now get going, you still have a job to do" responded Dante with a smile as he turned around towards Erza. Ruby nodded her head and used her magic to speed away, working to get all the townspeople to safety.
"Are you ready Erza" asked Dante with a confident smile. Smiling back at her master, Erza started to speak.
"Yes, I am more than ready but promise me you will let me take the lead in this fight. You can back me up" responded Erza in a serious tone. Dante looked like he was about to argue Erza's words and Erza continued to speak before Dante had a chance to voice his protest.
"Don't be a hypocrite Dante. You just told Ruby the same, don't try and bear the entire burden of battle yourself" stated Erza in a serious tone. After a short moment, Dante nodded his head in agreement. While he hated having someone else take the lead in such a dangerous fight, Dante figured if he was going to let anyone do that then it should be the nearly invincible Erza Scarlet.
"Alright Erza, you win. You take the lead in the fight, and I will back you up" responded Dante with a smile. Smiling back at her master, Erza nodded her head in agreement before the two of them ran towards the source of the nearby explosions. It didn't take long before Dante and Erza arrived at the source of the explosion, they found Jose waiting for them.
"I was wondering when you were going to show your face Dante" stated Jose in a sinister tone before his expression turned angry as he continued to speak.
"Do you have any idea how much your actions set me back" asked Jose in an angry tone. Smiling at Jose, Dante started to speak.
"Sorry about that Jose, but I can't just sit by and let you harm innocent people" responded Dante as he tensed up, ready to fight at any moment. Shaking with anger, Jose started to speak.
"That's what I hate most about Markov and his children. Always putting their noses in places where it doesn't belong" responded Jose in an angry tone.
"Yah well Master Markov taught us to always stand up against bullies like you" responded Dante with a smile as he transformed into his Angel Soul Gabriel form. Jose let out a sinister laugh before he started to speak.
"Did he now?! Well Markov isn't here to save you like last time. Imagining that fools face when he learns I've killed one of his precious children fills me with joy. It looks like I get to kill two Fairies today since you brought me another one to play with" responded Jose as he glanced towards Erza.
"You can go ahead and underestimate Erza if you want Jose, but I warn you that is one mistake you do not want to make" responded Dante with a confident smile. Letting out another sinister laugh, Jose started to speak.
"It doesn't matter who you two are, you will fall before my awesome power" responded Jose as he radiated dark energy. Dante and Erza readied themselves for battle, it seemed the time for talk was over. Suddenly Jose shoot a beam of powerful dark energy towards Dante and Erza who jumped out of the way. The ground was torn apart as the beam of dark energy crashed into the earth.
"Watch out Erza, his attacks are no joke" stated Dante as he and Erza landed a few feet away from the impact of Jose's attack. Nodding her head, Erza started to speak.
"Yes I'm well aware of that" responded Erza as she used her magic to transform into her Heaven's Wheel Armor. Erza then materialized an array of swords and sent them flying towards Jose. Jose smirked at Erza's incoming attack as he used his magical energy to form a dark barrier around him. Erza's swords were easily blasted away from the force of Jose's dark energy.
"Haha is that really the best you can do? I expected more from Erza Scarlet, the queen of the Fairies" stated Jose in a mocking tone before he fired multiple blasts of dark energy towards Dante and Erza. Seeing his chance to catch Jose off guard, Dante gathered his magical energy as he raised his hands in front of him.
"Shield of Heaven" yelled Dante as a magical barrier appeared in front of him and Erza. Jose's magical attacks crashed into Dante's shield, he grunted with effort as he felt the drain in his magical power. Turning his attention towards Erza, Dante started to speak.
"Erza go for it now" yelled Dante as Jose was somewhat stunned from having his attack blocked. Nodding her head, Erza changed into her purgatory armor and charged at Jose.
"Take this" yelled Erza as she attempted to slash Jose. Getting over his shock, Jose smiled confidently at Erza as he easily dodged her attack before he blasted her away from a powerful beam of dark energy. Erza yelled out in pain as she was sent flying backwards, but Dante was able to catch her in the air before she crashed into the ground.
"Are you alright Erza" asked Dante in a concerned tone as he hovered in the air with Erza in his arms. Smiling back at her master, Erza started to speak.
"I've been better but I'm alright" responded Erza in a pained tone. Dante smiled back at Erza, realized that she was mostly alright and able to continue fighting.
"Don't think it's over yet you stupid Fairies" yelled Jose in an annoyed tone before he used his magical power to summon a horde of shadow phantoms. Seeing himself be surrounded by the summoned phantoms, Dante started to speak.
"Erza cover your eyes" stated Dante as he gathered his magical energy.
Nodding her head in understanding, Erza closed her eyes. Dante then used his magical energy and pushed it outwards, creating a large circle of holy energy that expanded out in a large area. The sky was light up with a bright light, Dante's holy energy tearing apart the shadow phantoms. Once the light faded, Jose swore to himself as he saw that Dante was still hovering in the air while his phantoms had been completely destroyed. Seeing that Jose was upset that his attack was repelled, Dante smiled to himself as he started to speak.
"Sorry Jose but that sort of magic is weak against my holy attacks" responded Dante in a confidant tone as he landed back on the ground, letting Erza out of his arms. Jose then laughed in response as he started to speak.
"You think this changes anything, I haven't even begun to show you my true power" shouted Jose as he gathered a ball of dark energy and hurled it towards Dante and Erza. Seeing that this attack was much more powerful than any of the other attacks, Dante swore to himself before he started to speak.
"Damn! Get ready Erza" shouted Dante as he readied himself for the incoming attack. Nodding her head, Erza changed into her Adamantine Armor and stood in the path of the attack.
"If Jose wants a fight then show him your true power Dante" shouted Erza as she readied herself to take the incoming attacking. Seeing what Erza was doing and figuring out what she had planned, Dante started to speak.
"Dammit Erza" yelled Dante in a frustrated tone knowing that she was going to take the hit to give him time to transform and take Jose by surprise. Dante didn't like this plan since it involved Erza getting hurt but he didn't have any other choice. As the incoming attack crashing into Erza's shield, Dante transformed into his Archangel Soul Michael form.
"AHHHHH" yelled Erza as the powerful attack tore through her shield and crashed into her body. Swearing to himself as he watched his guildmate get hit with the powerful attack, Dante waited for his chance to strike.
"Hahahaha! That's one Fairy down" yelled Jose in a mocking tone as he watched Erza get torn apart from his powerful attack. Seeing that he was out of Jose's line of sight thanks to Ezra, Dante saw his opportunity to strike. Using his enhanced speed in his archangel form, Dante spread his wings wide and took flight. Jose's laughter ceased when he watched Dante take high into the air before he summoned a blade into his hands.
"You'll pay for that" yelled Dante as he pointed the sword of David towards Jose and channeled holy energy through it. The holy energy was multiplied by the holy weapon and fired a powerful blast towards a stunned Jose. Jose barely had time to summon a barrier and grunted as it barely held against Dante's attack. Not letting up his assault, Dante quickly closed the distance between them and slashed towards Jose.
"Take this you fucking bastard" yelled Dante as he slashed across Jose's chest with the holy weapon. Jose wasn't able to react in time and yelled in pain and anger as Dante slashed open his chest. Being sent flying backwards, Jose crashed into the ground but was soon able to stand back up.
"You annoying brat! How dare you! How can you have this much power?! You weren't this powerful the last time we fought" asked Jose in an angry tone as he used his magical energy to heal the cut across his chest. Jose was now panting with exhaustion, having spent a large portion of his magical energy to stop the bleeding. Dante smiled at Jose as he started to speak.
"That's because last time we fought I didn't have full control over this form. This is my Archangel form; it is many times more powerful than my Gabriel form and with this sword that power if multiplied even further" responded Dante with a confident smile. Grunting with anger, Jose channeled his magical power as he shouted his response.
"DAMN YOU" yelled Jose seething with rage as he radiated pure dark energy. Seeing that Jose was shaking with anger, Dante knew that this was his chance to finish the fight. Jose was angry and that was leaving him wide open. Pointing the sword of David towards the sky, Dante shouted as he used one of his most powerful attacks.
"YOU'RE FINISHED! HAMMER OF HEAVEN" yelled Dante as he fired holy energy in the sky, parting the clouds above him. A moment of silence followed before a massive amount of holy energy crashed into Jose from above. Jose yelled out in pain as all-consuming holy energy tore his body apart.
"AHHHHHHH" yelled Jose as Dante's attack formed a large explosion. Dante quickly rushed over to where Erza was lying on the ground and used his last remaining magical energy to shield her from the shockwave of his powerful attack. Once the smoke finally cleared, a large portion of the area was a crater and Jose was lying on the ground.
"How could I lose to one of Markov's children" asked Jose in a pained tone, unable to move his body in the slightest. Dante reverting back to his normal form, smiled weakly at Jose as he started to speak.
"You lost because you fight only for yourself and petty revenge. This will always be the end result if you mess with Fairy Tail" responded Dante between deep breathes. Cursing Dante one last time, Jose lost consciousness. Seeing that the battle was over, Dante breathed a sigh of relief as he sat next to Erza who was still lying on the ground.
"Are you alright Erza" asked Dante in a tired but concerned tone. Erza looked like a mess; her body having taken a lot of damage from Jose's last attack. Smiling weakly at her master, Erza started to speak.
"I'm fine, a little hurt but I'm glad you were able to win master. I knew you could do it" responded Erza with a smile. Smiling back at Erza, Dante started to speak.
"Yah but don't do something like that again Erza. That was a risky plan" responded Dante in a light tone. Laughing weakly, Erza then started to speak.
"Haha no promises master" responded Erza in a joking tone as Dante still breathed heavily. Laughing in response to Erza's joking words, Dante felt his body become heavier due to his exhaustion. He had used nearly all of his magical energy and now that the job was finally done, Dante was struggling to remain standing. Despite the need to fall asleep weighing heavily on him, Dante stood up on shaky legs and lifted Erza into his arms. The time would come later for Dante to rest, for now Dante wanted to make sure that Erza was seen too. Soon Erza was resting comfortably in a bed while Jose was being led away in chains by the proper authorities. Now that everything was taken care of, Dante sat down in a chair beside Erza's bed and closed his eyes.
