Season 2: Episode 3

There was a lengthy pause during which Ian quizzically observed her.

Finally she found her voice. "I-Ian? What, what are you doing here?"

"Funny you should ask?" Ian remarked with a grin.

He looked past Spencer and she followed his gaze and saw Melissa had just entered and was grinning.

"There he is." Melissa said with a laugh before reaching Ian and kissing him.

Spencer looked away uncomfortable, just seeing this made her remember Melissa and Ian's old relationship, the drastic way it ended and her part in it. She turned back to see they'd stopped and were facing her again.

"So, Spencer, I'll bet you're curious." Melissa said. "Ian's here?"

Spencer nodded. "Um, well...yeah, I mean, I wasn't expecting him when I came in."

"Well, it's simple." Melissa said with a grin as she linked arms with Ian. "We decided to rekindle the old flame so to speak."

Ian laughed softly. "Yup, I for one am very pleased with this."

They both smiled warmly and Spencer was frozen, startled, but quickly cleared her throat and replied.

"Oh um, congratulations." She said at last.

She was even more amazed by that, despite everything that had happened between them in the past and her own role in it, they were together again and even more, they told her first.

Thomas sighed as he looked at the sight before him, one of the crime scenes where the body had been found.

"So...the third body was found here…" He remarked.

Wilden nodded. "Yeah...so, why come here, it's not like there's anything else here."

Thomas merely smirked. "Oh really, then tell me, why didn't you make a report about the very obvious fact about this scene?"

"What are you talking about?" Wilden snapped.

"You really can't see it?" Thomas queried.

Wilden shook his head. "There's nothing to see."

Thomas sighed heavily and straightened up, looking around for a moment with raised eyebrows and then decided to put Wilden out of his misery.

"Okay, let me put it this way." Just like all the other crimes, does it not strike you as odd that we're in a public place?"

"A public-" Wilden began before freezing. "Wait-"

"Oh now you get it." Thomas laughed. "That's right, the bodies were dumped at night when no one was around, but in public places where they would be found in the morning...But of course, the murders were committed elsewhere."

It left them with one lingering question, where did the murders take place and how did the killer get about, how was he able to move the bodies so easily.

Alison let out a small sigh as she stood on her front porch, she wasn't alone either, Ryan stood with although things were quiet, something had clearly shifted between the two.

"So…" Alison began before noting Ryan was still looking to the distance. "Ryan?"

He didn't respond.

"Ryan!" She nudged him.

He quickly started but turned to her. "Right, right, sorry. So um, yeah...I think we um…"

Alison sighed again but nodded. "Yeah, I think so too, we're...we're not gonna make this work, are we?"

"I don't think so. I'm sorry." Ryan said softly.

"Don't, don't apologize, you were right. Besides, maybe it'll be better this way, for us I mean." She said calmly.

Ryan nodded, shifting his weight, they had been talking about their relationship, knowing that things actually weren't working between them, as such they had decided it would be for the best to end their relationship and now they had just done so.

"Are you gonna be alright?" Alison asked.

Ryan gave a short laugh. "I was gonna ask you."

Alison shrugged. "I'm a survivor. I'll be fine."

"Good, good." He replied softly. "Well, um...I'll be okay, don't worry."

"To be honest, I am kinda worried." Alison replied. "You've been acting kinda...strange recently and I'm not just talking about our relationship. Is everything okay?"

"Oh, that." Ryan replied and shrugged. "It's nothing major, don't...don't worry about it, really. I'll be fine. I promise."

Alison was concerned, his words did not convince her, regardless she knew she couldn't push things, not like this. She wondered what she would do now.

The following day, at school, the girls were seated at their usual table in the cafeteria. They were simply talking about their day when suddenly their phones all went off together. All five of them shared a look with each other.

"What do you think?" Hanna asked warily.

Spencer shook her head. "A. Gotta be."

The others all sighed but nodded and took out their phones together and checked. Sure enough they all got a message from A, the same message.

"Party time huh, looking forward to it girls, I know I am, can't wait, maybe I'll see you at the party. A"

"Oh man this is freaky." Aria muttered.

Emily bit her lip. "You guys really think A will be at the party this weekend?"

Alison shrugged. "It's possible, although naturally we won't recognize them."

"So A is messing with us again." Spencer groused.

"Wait a minute." A voice cut in. "Did you guys say A?"

They turned in surprise to see Morgan Linwood standing there, watching them with wide eyes.

"Um, yes...why?" Hanna asked warily.

Morgan shook her head. "Sorry I just...Last night, after, after dad got home we talked for a bit."

She pulled out her phone and began flicking through it.

She then added. "After dad went to start dinner, my phone went off and someone called A sent me a message, kinda freaky one too."

She then held out her phone.

They read the text and their eyes widened, it was indeed a text from A.

"I know your secret bitch, you should've finished the job and tried going a little deeper next time. A."

"What the hell?" Spencer muttered.

Morgan sighed and put her phone away before holding out her right arm, pulling up her sleeve.

"This is what they're talking about, this was two years ago." She explained, showing a scar on her right wrist.

They all looked at it, then up at Morgan in shock.

"Yeah, it was pretty bad, I was in a bad place and tried to kill myself. But that's in the past now." Morgan explained. "But...who is this A, what's going on?"

Emily noticed something and stood up. "Um, I've got something I need to do, can you guys?"

They nodded and Morgan sat down in Emily's vacated seat, with that the other girls began to explain to her what they knew so far about A, which admittedly wasn't much. Meanwhile Emily smiled as she approached Maya.

"Hey."

Maya turned to her and grinned. "Hi there, was wondering when I'd run into you. So, I heard about the party."

"Yeah, we're all going, you coming too?" Emily asked.

"Of course." Maya replied. "I never miss a good party."

Emily laughed at that, meanwhile, watching this, Paige let out a soft sigh and bowed her head.

'Poor Emily...she, she doesn't know. But, could I tell her?' Paige wondered, before shaking her head.

She knew that it would be terrible, she couldn't do that, not to Emily, but it left her in a bad situation, what if Emily found out anyway, that would lead to her reacted far worse surely.

Walking away from her latest class, Aria paused as she noticed Ryan was sitting alone in another classroom. One which was empty and as she entered the room, curious, she saw he was working on something, a collection of documents.

"Ryan?"

He looked up at her, startled, but quickly smiled and put the documents away in his schoolbag.

"Aria, hey." He replied, before seeing her expression and shook his head. "It's nothing, notes for a school project, I just needed a little quiet to focus on it."

She bit her lip, confused and not too sure he was being truthful, but she kept it to herself and smiled.

"How are you...I, I heard about you and Ali." She explained. "I just wanted to see if you were alright."

"Yeah, yeah I'm good." Ryan explained. "It's all good, thanks."

They both smiled, feeling surprisingly comfortable simply standing here with each other.
