Have you ever seen an ant nest after someone stepped on it? YES? Well, it was currently the state of the garrison's base. Panicked, everyone ran in all directions in order to quickly equip themselves while a Garrison soldier shouted orders left and right to the cadets, he too panicked.
Meanwhile I, pretending to be a little spooked, was equipping myself with the ODM gear. I just don't want anyone to think that it ain't scaring me, well.. it ain't but that's not the question. When I Raised my head, I noticed the Couple behind a pillar, Hannah and Franz, reassuring each other.
'Probably tellin that they love each other or some shit.'
Although, even if they didn't bring anything to the plot, I didn't feel like letting them die. So good-naturedly, imma destroy Isayama's cycle of hatred toward any romances, starting by saving these two.
Finishing the adjustment of my equipment, I quickly rose up and went to them, before they could go.
"Hey you two!" they jolted in surprise at my voice before both turning to look at me, nervous.
"wha- what is it Colith?" Franz asked looking like he definitely wasn't just hugging his future wife. While Hannah avoided my gaze, finding the ground interesting.
I deadpanned "Cut the crap you two, everybody already knows that you're crazy for each other!" they both choked at the revelation.
'REALLY?!' they thought at the same time looking at each other.
Sighing, I grabbed each one of their hands, clasping them together to their surprise and embarrassed flush. Hannah was about to say something when I interrupted :
"I know I'm not good with this, but hear me out. I wish that the both of you will live to see a new day, to survive in this together, and thankfully, be able to marry each other and live together until you die from old age. Insh'Allah..." I finished, releasing their hands before watching as the two looked at me stunned, not at all ready for this.
A red Hannah started, "wow...we, huh we didn't know that-"
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR CADETS?! GO IN THE COURTYARD TO RECEIVE ORDERS, AND HURRY UP!!" a Garrison soldier Interrupted the ginger-haired girl, making her jump in surprise. We hastily did the salute, and before the two could ask about what happened, I quickly nyoomed out of their sight, leaving the couple speechless.
You must be asking what I did? I just removed what i could of Ymir's curse, since she gave me the permission to, on our last meeting. This means that the Titan won't try to eat them, just spook them at worst, but they will still be able to transform if monkey man had the idea to come. Actually I could do that with everyone but meh, I don't really care right now. I'll just do it with whoever I want, whenever I want...
'Egh why does it sound nasty now that I think about it..' I shook my head thinking about the characters I had marked with this perk for this arc.
Before I could get out however, a trembling familiar voice stopped me in my tracks.
"...huge Boulder near the front was our best bet! but we couldn't figure out how to hoist it in place.."
'Ah shit, Armin is having a breakdown!' I sigh and turn back, walking to the three while the blond was freaking out. I got closer, without them seeing me, and wrapped my arms around the blond who let out a yelp of surprise.
" Hey min," my voice snapped him out of his panic "I'm not going to say that everything'll be alright, but the thing is that it won't be like 5 years ago." I looked at the two, who were listening. "You guys are prepared now, you didn't do 3 years of training for nothing! And I'm positive that we'll find a way to plug that hole! I promise!" the soothing aura coming from me made his shoulder sag while I put my hand on his, stopping them from shaking.
"Colith is right! Look ahead! We're not gonna be the victims anymore! We can fight back now, Armin!" The brunette said determinedly. I grinned in response and helped him fill in gas for his gear. The two quickly did the same.
"Sorry... I, I'm okay..." He said, a bit reassured then looked me in the eyes "Thank you Colith, Eren.." Eren and I nodded while Mikasa stood behind, watching us. 'nuh-uh come here' I grabbed her hand, making her jolt in surprise before dragging her next to me.
"I want...to hug y'all...just in case something happens, we never know with those flesh dummies." and hugged them since I was taller than the three. They quickly wrapped their arms around me.
I've never felt so loved before...
"I WANT EVERYONE SPLIT INTO FOUR SQUADRONS AS PRACTICED! ALL SQUADRONS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPLY RUNNING, MESSAGE RELAY, AND ENEMY COMBAT! UNDER THE COMMAND OF THE GARRISON REGIMENT." Scared shitless dude shouted. Damn, look at his face bruh. We were all standing in the courtyard, equipped as a bunch of Garrison captains were standing in front of us, giving us orders." THE INTERCEPT SQUADRON WILL BE TAKING THE VANGUARD! CADETS WILL TAKE THE MIDDLE GUARD LED BY THE SUPPORT SQUAD. REARGUARD WILL GO TO THE ELITES."
"So he's just gonna send freshly promoted cadets to their death, ok," I muttered in disgust. Mikasa who heard me agreed with furrowed brows.
"I EXPECT YOU ALL TO MAN YOUR POSTS," you man up, bitch "KNOWING THE ADVANCED TEAM HAS BEEN WIPED OUT!" Everyone gasped in surprise except me whose eye twitched.
'Must be the titans I missed, true that I was not really searching for them, just ordered the ones I stumbled upon. Call it selfish but come on, I may be Mother of all or something, doesn't mean imma go running after EACH titans on this island. There's like...A LOT of them roaming the entire island.'
"THAT'S RIGHT! THE OTHER GATE IS HISTORY! THE TITANS ARE IN! THIS MEANS, THE ARMORED TITAN IS LIKELY TO REAPPEAR!" My gaze landed on Reiner who didn't notice, and quickly looked back forward. 'That could happen, yes, if Eren doesn't transform of course.' "IF, and, WHEN HE DOES, THE INNER GATE WILL ALSO BE HISTORY!
"... Is this real..?" 'life..?' (If y'all don't get this reference imma cry.)
"Please be a dream..."
"God what if the bastards managed to burst through wall Rose..?"Were my comrades' comments, since they were all scared.
"QUIET!!!". 'YOU be quiet! Asshole!!' I glared at this coward of a captain, watching with satisfaction as he shuddered without knowing why. "R-RIGHT, THOSE IN THE VANGUARD, BE READY. THE WHOLE AREA IS WELL-KNOWN SATURATED! YOUR MISSION IS-" and I stopped listening cause he was annoying.
He threatened the ones who would desert by being executed, so you'll die both ways anyway. 'Tch, you're one to talk, that's the first thing he's gonna do.' I saluted reluctantly, along with my peers before we all went to see where we will be posted. I watched as some of the cadets had a breakdown and others literally vomited on the ground. I noticed Bertholdt standing aside, watching with guilt as everyone was freaking out because of him. I decided to go see him.
"Hey." The tall Boi jumped when he heard my voice, too distracted to have noticed me approaching. "Are you alright..?" I asked, watching as his eyes refused to meet mines in guilt.
"I...i don't know... I'm sorry..." Thinking that I won't understand, he apologized. I patted his shoulder in comfort.
'Hm, I don't want them to target me yet.'
"It's okay Bert, We worked hard for this! We'll take back Trost district!" I sent him a determined grin which made him feel worse. "And if we survive this, let's grab something to eat one day, I'll pay!" I ruffled his hair, he blushed a bit.
"y..yeah.." I'm so sorry "l-let's do our best, Colith." He tried a small smile which I returned before going back to my beans. I felt the two other shifters looking my way, guilt radiating from them. I knew they were following Marley's orders in the hope of helping their families live in better conditions, and had no choice but to do it. Wishing to be seen as 'Good Eldians' from Marley's perspective.
'Guess I shall visit these assholes one day.' I scowled.
Two voices caught my attention as they were bickering and turned to the commotion. I saw Mikasa about to intervene until Eren shoved Jean to the wall. 'Hahaha that's gay.' my shoulder shook at the reminder of that vine which made one or two snickers escape me. Some cadets listened to Eren's speech. 'Yup a real protagonist here.' boy was literally reassuring Jean in his own way even though he probably was unaware of it. I shook my head before walking to them.
"He's Right, Jeanboi. One more day to go, and you can do whatever you want." I said in a reassuring tone. Most of the titans entering would be those I hopefully ordered, otherwise I'll have to kill them which wasn't something I enjoyed. The boy's attention turned to me, surprised by my sudden appearance. His face softened almost Immediately before he freed himself from Eren's hold and faced me. I blinked at him, not knowing what he was about to do until I felt warm lips meet my right cheek in a soft peck before he quickly drew back with warm cheek and an embarrassed expression on his face.
"Eh?" I blinked, touching my cheek. Hadn't seen that one coming.
"B-Be careful.." he wished before rapidly walking away. I heard Ereno snap out of his shock, glaring harshly at horseface's retreating back.
"HEY! GET BACK HERE BASTARD!!" He screeched and attempted to go after him but I caught him in my arms so he could not. Mikasa, having witnessed the scene approached us with an eye twitching in slight aggravation.
"Colith."
"Yes Mikasa?" I looked at her innocently while Jaeger bomb was struggling to get free.
"Why did he do that?" She placed herself in front of me, stealing a glance at the angry German who had stopped resisting and was now glaring at the ground as if it was the subject if his ire. I just shrug easily.
"Dunno, I suspected that he might have a crush on me–". A tick mark appeared on Eren's forehead which I blatantly ignored. "–but I didn't think he'd dare make a bold move like this. He must think I'll die out there or something." I chuckled at the end. Eren and Mikasa both froze.
"Please don't joke about this, I don't want anything happening to you Colith." She grabbed my uniform's sleeve, eyes pleading. My eyes softened, I was about to reply when–
"Tobe, Ackerman." the three of us looked at the garrison soldier, Ian Dietrich if I remember correctly. "You're with me, you've been assigned to the rear guard on special orders, let's get moving." Mikasa's eyes widened, this meant she won't be able to protect Eren!
"But sir, I-"
"No." This caught all of them off guard as they looked at me surprised. I released a gaping Eren and faced the man. Ian scowled.
"You're not being asked about it, this is an order. We need all the elites we got for the evacuatio-"
"I said no. Mikasa can be assigned to the rear guard she'll be enough, the middle guard might need me the most." My eyes were stern, which spooked my beans a little. Ian's brows furrowed. He was on his way to retort but his breath got stuck in his throat as cold fear was visible in his widened eyes. Eren and Mikasa looked at him in question, not understanding why the guy had froze.
I was directing a bit of [Killing intent] on the man, showing him that it wasn't an option. 'They don't call me monster for nothing, and I don't want my plan to fail because of some assholes..' at the thought, a growl escaped my throat, making the man jump, thinking it was directed at him. 'Oop!'
Shakingly, the man nodded and turned to Mikasa "Y-you're with me, Ackerman.." before quickly walking away from me, probably going to tell scared shitless dude about my insubordination. I let out a smile of satisfaction before turning to the two baffled teens.
"Well! let's go then!" quickly hugging Mikasa, I dragged a bewildered Eren with me.
