Pretty Little Liars: Paying the Cost
Chapter 5 of my Pretty Little Liars story, enjoy.
Reviews:
Boris Yeltsin: Yes indeed, but as the scene with Paige shows, she also knows how to help people who need a little kindness. Oh I think that's an understatement if ever there was one ;)
Wolfgirl2013: And I finally see the review, thanks :)
Now onto the story.
Disclaimer: I don't own Pretty Little Liars or its characters.
Season 2: Episode 5
"You gotta be kidding me!"
"Tony please, we were drugged, it's-" Ryan tried to explain.
Tony glowered and scoffed. "Sure, nice excuse, give me one good reason why I should believe you?"
"Dude, we-" Ryan stammered.
Spencer was in tears. "Tony, please, just listen to us."
"Save it." Tony snapped.
Both Ryan and Spencer flinched, their worst fears had come true. They had both tried to calm down and be reasonable after discovering what they had done, what had happened to them. They spoke things out together and after making sense of things, in so far as they could, they knew they'd been drugged, had sex and now they were dealing with the aftermath. They knew that they had to talk about this to their respective new partners, as they had literally just formed relationships respectively with Aria and Tony. This had in fact become a problem, namely in that Tony was outraged by the reveal. Surprisingly Aria was standing nearby and was rather calm by contrast.
"Aren't you going to say something?" Spencer asked her, looking shocked at her.
Aria sighed. "I, I don't know what to say, truthfully. I'm at a lost for words for once."
"You...you can't seriously be so calm about this." Tony snapped, shocked.
Aria shook her head. "Tony, neither Spencer or Ryan are the type to do something like this, unless influenced, like they say, drugged."
Tony narrowed his eyes. "You believe this nonsense!?"
"I do, since it's not nonsense, it's in fact the only thing that makes sense."
Tony stood for a moment, glowering before turning and storming away, leaving Ryan and Spencer devastated, while Aria turned to try and help reassure and comfort them.
Spencer sat in class, miserable and trying to focus, still unable to believe what had happened, this was a nightmare. Worse she had hoped to start a relationship with Tony, to finally have something without any interference or problems from her family. But now this mess had hit and left them in a horrible situation.
"Spencer."
She started and looked up, shocked to see Toby Cavanaugh standing there.
"I saw you earlier, arguing with Anthony Bruno. Are you okay?" He asked carefully.
He was hopeful, after all he had not been happy when he saw the duo kissing at the party. But before he could say anything about it, he had to deal with Jenna moaning about Alison again.
Spencer just shook her head. "I'll be fine, it's all a big misunderstanding, but I'll figure it out."
She had looked down at that point, leaving her unable to see Toby's change in expression. He stalked away as she checked her phone which had vibrated at that moment.
"Whoops, guess there was a mix up with the drinks, huh? A."
Spencer's eyes widened in horror as she looked up and over towards Ryan who was also in this class. He met her gaze and held up his phone, she held up hers and nodded, he'd got the same text. It was A, A had drugged them and was the cause of all this.

Maya smiled warmly as she waited in the cafeteria, she was waiting for Emily as they had agreed to meet up that day. Finally she saw Emily approaching and her smiled widened, only to almost instantly fade when she saw Emily had a look of rage on her face as she approached. Emily was indeed enraged, she had been getting ready to go for lunch and meet Maya, when A sent her an email. She was confused by it and checked only to be horrified and then outraged at what was revealed in the email.
"Emily, what-?" Maya began.
"How dare you, how dare you." She snapped. "How long?"
Maya blinked startled. "Wh-what?"
The whole cafeteria went quiet, everyone was watching them but Emily didn't care, she was too angry.
"How long have you been betraying me, been cheating on me." Emily snapped.
She thrust the printouts she had made of what the email contained into Maya's hands for her to see. Maya's eyes were wide, fear covering her face. It was pictures of her, with her dealer, kissing him, capturing the long standing secret relationship.
Emily glared darkly and then added. "There was a video too, should I show you that?"
"Emily, Emily I-" Maya stammered, trying to find anything to say.
But it was no good, she had nothing and Emily knew it. There was no excuse for any of this. The others watching were shocked, a few were whispering, many outraged. The rest of the main group were watching in shock too, along with a bit of suspicion on Alison's part. She knew right away what the printouts were, what video Emily was referring to.
She glared over at Paige, instantly suspicious of her, the only other person she knew had possession of those materials that exposed Maya and her cheating on Emily. But she was forced to ultimately put that aside for the moment as she looked up and saw Emily storming out and Maya calling after in, shocked and dismayed, it was clear their relationship was over. Shaking her head she quickly muttered to the others.
"I'll go make sure Em's okay."
They nodded in agreement and Alison slipped out as the clamour from the cafeteria returned. She finally found Emily in one of the classrooms, tears running down her face as she tried desperately to compose herself.
"Em."
She turned sharply. "Ali I...you saw that huh."
Alison sighed. "I think everyone did."
"Sorry for making a scene." Emily muttered. "I just, I was so mad. I can't believe she'd do that to me."
Alison felt guilty, she was the one who had gathered those photos and video after all, but she'd not been the one to spread them. She still suspected Paige of course but she couldn't openly say that.
"It was A." Emily said suddenly.
Alison paused. "Um, what?"
"It was A who sent that email to me."
Alison now felt even more suspicious and now even afraid of Paige, was it possible, was Paige A?

Seated at their usual table as lunch was starting to wind down, Spencer, Hanna and Aria were simply passing time, that was when Hanna looked up and narrowed her eyes.
"Okay, what the hell is up with that?"
"What?" Spencer asked.
She looked behind her, where Hanna had been looking and saw Ryan, looking rather furtive. He had a few documents in his hands which he was checking and making notes in what looked like a large notepad he had with him.
"Seriously, Ryan's been acting weird lately." Hanna chimed in. "I swear he's been doing that for a week now."
Spencer bit her lip. "I...I wonder what he's writing, did he ever say anything about getting his phone fixed?"
"His phone?"
"He told me his phone was broken, asked if he could borrow mine to make a call." Spencer explained. "He had it for a while but then returned it. He was kinda on edge the whole time."
Aria sighed and cut in. "Guys, seriously. Calm down, it's Ryan okay. He's not some kinda spy or something, he's probably just worried about some upcoming test and is studying and maybe he had a long phone call to make."
Spencer and Hanna dropped the subject, but they didn't think Aria could truly be unbiased in her defence of Ryan, after all, they were dating.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
