Chapter 271: Dante Vs Pyrrha
"That should be all for today" stated Draculos in a professional tone, wrapping up the current magic council meeting. Dante breathed a sigh of relief as he stood up and walked out of the meeting room with Juvia following behind him. As the two of them walked through the hallways and towards Dante's office, Dante started to speak to Juvia.
"Damn I thought that meeting would never end" stated Dante in a tired tone thinking that the magic council meetings had a terrible habit of dragging on. Smiling at her beloved, Juvia started to speak.
"If you want, Juvia can help relieve some of your tension when we get back to your office" responded Juvia in a loving tone. Dante turned his attention towards Juvia as they continued to walk towards his office, and he smiled at her as he started to speak.
"That sounds perfect Juvia" responded Dante with a smile thinking that having a bit of fun with Juvia was the perfect way for him to destress. With these words said the two of them started to walk towards Dante's office with greater purpose, until a voice called out from behind them.
"Dante Strauss" stated the somewhat familiar voice. Dante and Juvia turned around to see who just called out to Dante and Dante remembered seeing the face before.
"Hey Pyrrha, what's up" asked Dante with a smile since he recognized his fellow magic council member. Pyrrha along with her attendant walked up to Dante before she started to speak.
"I had a request for you if you aren't busy" responded Pyrrha with a smile as she stood in front of Dante. Dante smiled back at Pyrrha, while he intended to have some fun with Juvia he supposed he could spare some time for Pyrrha. While Dante didn't personally know Pyrrha well, he gathered from the meetings that she was a kind person.
"I'm not that busy, what do you need from me" asked Dante with a warm smile. Smiling back at Dante, Pyrrha started to speak.
"I wish to do battle with you if that is alright with you" responded Pyrrha with a smile.
Dante was somewhat surprised by this request, but it wasn't entirely unappealing to him. Pyrrha was undoubtedly strong since she was a wizard saint and member of the magic council and Dante had heard stories of her battle prowess. While Pyrrha wasn't a part of a guild, she had still become very famous in the kingdom thanks to her strength. The Invincible girl, that was the nickname that Pyrrha was known for. Just as Dante was about to respond, Juvia stepped in front of him and started to speak.
"You intend to hurt Juvia's beloved" asked Juvia in a threatening tone. Pyrrha had a worried look on her face since it was clear that her intentions were misunderstood.
"No! Nothing like that! I just wish to test my strength against the person who displayed tremendous strength at the Grand Magical games. It was my thinking that a friendly sparing match could help the both of us become stronger" responded Pyrrha in a somewhat worried tone as she hoped that Juvia would attack her due to her over protectiveness. While Juvia still didn't seem convinced, Pyrrha's attendant stepped in front of Juvia and started to speak.
"If you want to get to Pyrrha you are going to have to go through me first" stated Pyrrha's attendant with a determined look. The air became thick with tension as Juvia and Pyrrha's attendant stared each other down. Knowing that he had to step in to diffuse the situation, Dante started to speak as he pushed himself between the two ladies.
"Ladies there is no need to fight. Pyrrha means me no harm Juvia, this is no different from all the times Natsu would ask to fight me" stated Dante, turning his attention towards Juvia for the last part of his statement. Seeing that Juvia was somewhat calmed down, Dante turned his attention towards Pyrrha's attendant and continued to speak.
"Your dedication to defending Pyrrha is admirable, your name was Nora right" asked Dante with a smile. Nodding her head, Nora started to speak.
"That's right, I'm surprised you remembered my name. People usually overlook me when I'm with Pyrrha" responded Nora in a somewhat shocked tone that someone remembered her name. Nora had been friends with Pyrrha for many years and it almost never failed that Pyrrha revied far more attention than her. Smiling back at Nora, Dante started to speak.
"I could never forget a pretty face" responded Dante in a flirty tone that made Nora blush as she started to speak.
"W-what?! Don't say things like that if they're not true" responded Nora in a shy tone while she blushed crimson at Dante's words.
"I didn't say anything that wasn't true Nora" responded Dante thinking that Nora was being very cute with how shy she was being. Seeing that her friend was flustered and needed saving, Pyrrha stepped forward and started to speak.
"So what do you say Dante, do you accept my challenge. I've always wanted to see what the Angel of Fairy Tail is capable of for myself" responded Pyrrha with a determined smile. Nora glanced over at Pyrrha with a grateful smile since she changed the subject of conversation. Smiling back at Pyrrha, Dante started to speak.
"Sure, I accept you challenge. It should be fun since I've always wanted to see what the Invincible girl can do" responded Dante in an excited tone. Shortly after saying these words Dante and Pyrrha walked into one of the many training halls connected to the magic council building. With Juvia and Nora standing off to the side, Dante and Pyrrha stood against each other as Dante started to speak.
"You're the one who issued this challenge so what are the terms? What is our stopping point" asked Dante with a smile. Smiling back at Dante, Pyrrha started to speak.
"I don't want you to hold anything back because I don't intend to. Other than that, just remember that this is a sparring session so no serious injuries please" responded Pyrrha as she readied herself in a combat stance. Pyrrha put on her shield and raised her spear towards Dante as she studies his movements and waited for a moment to strike.
"Alright, sounds good to me" responded Dante, eager to see what Pyrrha was capable of. Channeling his magical power, Dante transformed into his Arc Angel Soul Michael form. Knowing that he was facing a wizard saint, Dante knew that he could not play around and that is why he decided to skip his Angel Soul Gabriel form. Using his heavenly reequip, Dante was soon holding the Sword of David and readied himself for battle.
Dante smiled as he studied Pyrrha's movements, trying to look for an opportunity to strike. Studying Pyrrha's form, Dante was impressed with her stance. The way that Pyrrha was holding her shield and spear, Dante wasn't able to see a clear way past her defenses. In the end it was Pyrrha who struck first, lunging at Dante with her spear.
Dante was taken aback by Pyrrha's sudden attack, but he was able to spread his wings in time and take flight into the air. It seemed that Pyrrha had predicted that Dante would use his wings gain the height advantage since she immediately followed up with her next attack. Pyrrha's spear morphed into a firearm, and she used it to fire at Dante who was still hovering in the air. Seeing the bullets firing towards him, Dante was forced to zip through the air to dodge them, narrowly avoiding Pyrrha's attacks. While Dante was focused on dodging the bullets, he failed to notice Pyrrha leaping into the air until it was too late.
Pyrrha seeing her opening leapt into the air and was now above Dante's field of vision as she morphed her weapon back into her spear. Bringing her spear over her head, Pyrrha brought it down onto Dante. Dante smiled at Pyrrha; she was good but not good enough. Using the Sword of David, Dante prepared to block Pyrrha's weapon. As Dante was bringing his sword to block Pyrrha's attack, he felt a strong force jerk his sword away. With the sudden force jerking his sword out of the way, Dante took the full force of Pyrrha's attack.
"Master! Are you okay" shouted Juvia from the sidelines as Dante went crashing into the ground. Dante grunted as he stood up and dusted himself off while he started to speak.
"I'm fine Juvia" responded Dante as he stood back up. Facing Pyrrha once more, Dante continued to speak.
"It's going to take a lot more than that to take me out" stated Dante with a smile as he stood against Pyrrha. While Dante waited for Pyrrha to make her next move, he thought about how strange it was for his sword to be almost jerked out of his hand. He should have been able to block Pyrrha's attack, but some sort of force acted on his sword to make it move out of the way.
Pyrrha then lunged at Dante again who tried to meet her spear with the Sword of David. Again, just as Dante was about to block Pyrrha's attack, some strange force jerked the sword away which caused him to be hit again. Stumbling backwards, Dante grunted with effort as he tried to get a handle on the fight. Something was acting on his sword to make it miss all of his blocks and Dante think he had a good idea about what was happening. Taking a look at Pyrrha, Dante started to speak.
"This is your magic at work isn't it" asked Dante with a smile. Smiling back, Pyrrha started to speak.
"What do you mean? Maybe you aren't as good at blocking as you think you are" responded Pyrrha with a smile but in a tone that told Dante he was right in guessing that Pyrrha's magic was to blame. Smiling at Pyrrha, Dante sent the Sword of David back to his pocket dimension as he started to speak.
"Yah I think you are somehow manipulating my sword to miss at important moments. Lucky for me I'm a pretty good fighter with or without my sword" responded Dante with a confidant smile before he flew straight at Pyrrha. Using his enhanced speed, Dante crashed into Pyrrha who barely had time to block his punch with her shield.
Pyrrha grunted as she felt the impact from Dante's punch even from behind her shield. Not slowing down, Dante started to punch and kick towards Pyrrha. Pyrrha showed her talent as she avoided and blocked each of Dante's attacks. As Dante continued to try and find a way into Pyrrha's defenses he watched as his every move was studies by Pyrrha. It seemed that Pyrrha was making a mental note of Dante's movements since she delivered a swift kick across his face after she blocked another one of his punches.
Dante was sent flying backwards from the force of Pyrrha's kick. Pyrrha wasn't done with her assault, seeing her opening she continued to attack Dante. Once again Pyrrha's weapon morphed into a firearm and fired at Dante. The bullets flew quickly at Dante who didn't have any time to dodge the attack. Having to think on his feet, Dante fired a powerful blast of magical energy and disintegrated the bullets flying towards him.
Pyrrha wasn't halted by Dante's quick thinking, she quickly morphed her weapon back into the spear mode and rushed towards Dante. This time it was Dante's turn to be on the defensive as he was forced to dodge Pyrrha's attacks. Normally Dante would have taken flight, but he knew that if he did so this close to Pyrrha she would simply shot him out of the sky before he got very far. Dante knew that he would not be able to keep this up for much longer, Pyrrha was too good at studying his movements for him to avoid her attacks for much longer. Suddenly Dante got an idea to use Pyrrha's close observation of him against her.
"Heaven's Blinding Light" shouted Dante as he used his magical energy to radiate blinding light from his body. Pyrrha was watching Dante closely, so she felt the full effect of Dante's magic and had to close her eyes. Seeing that this was his opportunity, Dante enveloped Pyrrha in a bear hug and flew high into the air. Using his strength to hold Pyrrha in place Dante made sure they were high in the air before he let Pyrrha go. While Pyrrha was falling back to the ground, Dante flew after her as he started to shout his next attack.
"Heaven's Fist Barrage" shouted Dante as he delivered multiple punches charged with holy energy onto Pyrrha, making her grunt in pain before she violently crashed into the ground. Landing a short distance in front of Pyrrha, Dante reverted back to his normal form as he started to speak.
"I think that is enough for a light spar don't you think" asked Dante with a kind smile as he extended a hand towards Pyrrha to help her up. Pyrrha flashed Dante a grateful smile as she accepted his hand and stood up while she started to speak.
"Yes, if we go any further I fear we will cause some real trouble" responded Pyrrha with a smile, showing that she was largely unharmed.
"You were really good Pyrrha, very impressive" stated Dante with a smile. Pyrrha felt a blush creep across her face as she started to speak.
"You were also very impressive. I feel that if you actually went all out then I would have been in trouble" responded Pyrrha with a smile.
"Maybe but it's not like you were giving it everything you had either. This was just a friendly sparing session after all" responded Dante with a smile. Laughing slightly at these words, Pyrrha started to speak.
"Yes, well I wonder what it would be like to face you when you really mean it" responded Pyrrha in a joking tone. Laughing as well, Dante started to speak.
"Haha well if you ever threaten Fairy Tail then you will find out" responded Dante with a smile. Watching Dante smile at her while he was standing this close to her made Pyrrha blush even more as she remembered the other reason why she challenged Dante to a fight. Looking at Dante with a slight blush covering her face, Pyrrha started to speak.
"I'd feel bad if I bothered you only for a fight" Pyrrha started to say in a somewhat nervous tone. Smiling at Pyrrha, Dante started to speak.
"It was no bother at all, it was fun" responded Dante with a kind smile. Knowing that she had to speak before she lost her confidence, Pyrrha responded to Dante.
"Still, I'd like to do something to make it up to you. Do you have any plans for dinner" asked Pyrrha in a somewhat shy tone. Seeing how Pyrrha was blushing, Dante had a good idea what Pyrrha's intentions were as he started to speak.
"Well, there is no way I can turn down having dinner with such a lovely woman" responded Dante in a flirty tone that made Pyrrha blush even more. Seeing the way Pyrrha reacted to his flirting Dante thought that dinner with her was going to be fun. If Dante played his cards right then Pyrrha could become a new addition to his harem.
