Jason Grace woke up falling from darkness. He wasn't falling fast however. It was like he was falling through water. Still tired, he looked to see what he was falling towards.
A glowing light in the distance revealed itself to be a stained glass platform. The closer he got, the more details he could make out.
The stained glass was a picture of a blond haired boy kneeling at the bottom left corner of the circle. His left hand was outstretched, reaching for a bright star. His right hand held an imperial gold blade. Grey storm clouds made the background, and white lightning strikes were scattered across the landscape. At the top center was a circle of circles. Each smaller circle held the head of someone different. A teenage girl with a braid and a feather in her hair. A teenage boy with curly hair. A younger woman with straight hair. A young girl with short black hair.
That last one stuck to him as oddly familiar. He landed on the platform feet first and suddenly realized why. The girl with short black hair was his sister, Thalia Grace. Then Reyna, then Leo, then Piper. They were all there.
He turned around to see the blond haired boy. He was wearing a purple camp Jupiter t-shirt.
It was him.
He was the boy reaching out to the star.
Usually being in an unfamiliar place would have worried him, but his grogginess kept all those thoughts away. He felt safe here, like this place was home.
A ball of light appeared before him. While it didn't say anything, he could feel what it wanted to communicate.
"Do I have a question?"
The ball of light nodded.
He remembered the tears on the Female Titan.
"Why was she crying?" He asked sincerely.
The ball of light touched the brim of his forehead and showed him his answer.
His vision was of a blonde haired girl practicing her kicks. She had a clip in her hair to keep it up, and wore a white hoodie. The scene changed. This time she wasn't practicing alone. A man kept insisting on doing more of the sets, practicing more of her kicks. Frustrated with the man, she beat him up. The scene changed again, and the limping man was hugging her. It doesn't matter if the whole world hates you. As your father, I'll always be by your side. So promise me. Promise that you'll come back!
The light released him from the vision.
"She just wanted to go home." Jason realized.
The light nodded somberly, but insisted that this doesn't excuse her actions.
Jason kept silent. He looked at the star his painted self was reaching for. She just wanted to see her father again.
He saw that the storm clouds were what kept glass Jason from reaching the star. He walked towards the star. The ball of light followed him. "I know who this is." He knelt and touched it. "It's my mother, isn't it."
The ball of light didn't respond.
"You know, sometimes I wish she never met Zeus."
He sat next to the star looking at the ball of light. "What life would she have had if she never had Thalia? Or me? Would she have become a successful actress? Directed her own movie? I don't even know what she wanted out of her life. I don't remember her."
There was no sadness in his voice. He was stating a fact after all. But it was bittersweet. "I wish I could have met her." he stated somberly.
The ball of light began squirming. Apologizing to him profusely.
"Why are you sorry?"
The ball of light refused to tell him why.
Silence filled the stained glass floor.
Jason could feel his time ending in this mysterious place. "Will we meet again?" He asked the ball of light.
It didn't know. But it wished to see him soon.
"Then it's a promise. Let's meet again soon."
The light giggled.
"Thank you." she said.
