The sounds of the hustle and bustle of people seep into Lincoln's private space, he sighs and looks longingly at the rough sketch from his deadline. Ronnie knew that he needed quite to focus, how was he supposed to find his muse with all that noise?
Louds cafe and dinner was not Lincoln's dream endeavor but after investing close to thirty thousand dollars into it Lincoln had little to no choice but to make the best of it. Ronnie was supposed to be in charge of operations and running the dinner, since Lincoln had fronted the money to buy the property. High laughter penetrated through the door and Lincoln could feel a migraine. Ronnie had the foresight to hire carlotta and Bobby, while Lincoln liked Ronnie's family but in better words. They were being taken advantage of. Since opening they had lost a steady stream of money, and Lincoln was tired of it. This cafe was all Ronnie Ann's idea, she'd begged him to buy it. Now she was running their business into the ground while her family was robbing them blind. Lincoln loved his wife honestly but Ronnie thought she was being a leader by being bossy and making snarky jokes. Recently the stress was starting to take a toll on the relationship.
"I need to borrow some money for the restaurant" was now a common argument between the two.
"Why aren't we turning a profit"? Lincoln snapped holding a stack of papers. Hed been pouring over their books and their were several discrepancies, worse Ronnie had signed off on the report.
"It takes some time for business to take off Lincoln", Ronalda stood rigidly by her decisions, even though she knew she was a little in over her head. It wasn't like she could admit that to Lincoln after all the money they'd pumped into this.
"We're missing money out of the register every time Carlotta works, can't you see it"!
Recoiling Ronnie Ann flinches at the frustration in Lincoln's voice, running a business was harder than she had thought. Bobby hardly listened to anything she said and Carlotta was constantly talking on the phone. What was she supposed to do? Family was family. Before her mama died, she'd begged Ronnie to hire Bobby. Carlotta was a single mother with three kids.
"I'll talk to Carlotta".
Rubbing his forehead Lincoln trained a frustrated gaze on his wife, " if we don't start making a profit on this Ronnie, I'm going to start making some serious changes in the business", Lincoln threatened.
Cupping Lincoln's face Ronalda gently lowered her lips to Lincoln's, the worry in her husband's face was still evident.
"Just give me some time, Lincoln I promise, I'll talk to Carlotta", begged Ronnie Ann unable to look Lincoln in the eye.
Sighing Lincoln, rubs Ronalda's back torn between snapping at his wife and comforting her. If things didn't change soon Lincoln didn't know how much more of this he could take.
