Something About Us

The sun set, the moon rose, the stars shone. Diana flew across the skies to her best friend, Clark Kent's apartment.

She hadn't seen him in over 2 weeks with them being so busy. She was excited receiving a text from him saying he was back and she couldn't wait to take the chance to see him. She couldn't deny her true feelings for him. She was falling in love.

He wasn't like anyone she had ever met or known, god or mortal. She enjoyed the time they spent together, either just sitting and talking or Clark taking her to places and events around the world to truly take in and enjoy.

Upon approaching his door, she took a deep breath before knocking. Just as she was about to, a neighbor opened his door.

He looked to be the same age as she and Clark, late 20s, but he was much shorter.

"Woah, you might be at the wrong door," he said leaning against his door looking Diana up and down with a smirk.

Diana frowned and looked at the door number. "I believe this is Clark Kent's correct apartment number."

"Kent?" He questioned in shock.

Clark's door then opened.

"Hey, Di!" He immediately engulfed her into an embrace. "What brings you by?"

Diana pulled away slightly and smiled at him. "I wanted to surprise you. I hope you don't mind the company?"

"I was actually just thinking about you. I'm glad you're here." Clark smiled back staring into her eyes.

Diana blushed and bit her lip.

Hearing someone clearing their throat, they both reluctantly looked to the person.

"Oh, sup, Paul?"

"Now that I think about it, I have seen this lovely lady a couple of times before. I just didn't get the chance to properly introduce myself yet."

"Diana, this is Paul. Paul, this is Diana."

"Beautiful name matching everything else beautiful."

Diana raised her brow. "Um...thank you...?"

Clark rolled his eyes. "Anyway. I'm sure you have some where to be..."

"Actually no I don't. I didn't know you had a girlfriend, Kent?"

"Oh, um..."

Clark and Diana glanced at each other. "We're just friends," they said in unison.

"Friends? You serious?"

"What does it matter to you?" Clark asked.

"I'm just asking so I won't feel guilty getting more acquainted with the lovely lady."

"I don't think so," Diana frowned and walked into Clark's apartment.

Clark smirked and shook his head.

"Yo, Clark? You two aren't a thing? Like seriously?"

"She's my best friend."

"So what? Like childhood friends? Where is she from?"

"None of your business."

"Hook me up. Come on."

"Sorry but not a chance, man."

Paul then noticed Clark was being pulled inside by his arm.

"Oh...so it's like that?"

Clark closed the door leaving Paul dumbfounded.

"Best friends?" Paul questioned. "Pft...a girl like her?"

Inside Clark's apartment

Diana laughed sitting on the couch and Clark slouched down beside her.

"Your neighbor is quite...nice?" She laughed again twirling his S curl with her finger.

"Yeah...sure. More like nosey, loud, and a nuisance."

"Next time I'll call or will have to fly to your window."

"No don't do that. If I have to I'll have a talk with him. I want you to feel welcomed and don't have to worry about or feel uncomfortable with neighbors."

Diana leaned over and kissed his cheek. "You are so sweet."

Clark felt a stir in his pants.

"I really did miss you. I anticipated a quiet night like this for us to have our...sleepovers."

He felt a stir again. "I...missed you, too, Diana." He then laughed. "And our sleepovers..."

He stared at her. Good God, she was gorgeous with her alluring cerulean blue bedroom eyes and her luscious lips curving into a seductive smile.

"Let's fly, Kal. If only for just a few minutes to feel the night's cool breeze."

"Yeah, ok. But this time, we can go out from the window."

Diana giggled. "For the moment, that is the better option."

The full moon was giving off a soft glimmer to all those that stood beneath it. The stars were shining bright, like little warriors, standing by, protecting their treasure. The night sky had always been something that took Diana's breath away. She remembered being just a young Amazon, before she learned how to fly, staring out from her balcony.

She twirled round and round, laughing.

Clark smiled, mesmerized by her. Just when he thought he knew all there was to know about Diana of Themyscira, she'd show him a side to her he was sure no one had ever seen before.

It was a magical moment.

On impulse, Clark took her in his arms and held her close. He began to hum gently in her ear sending shivers down her spine. Diana laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. Smiling into her hair, Clark breathed in her scent.

"Let the truth cut through...I fantasize reality with you.

Open my eyes for the mystery of me and you..." he unconsciously whispered.

Diana tilted her head, so she could look deeply into his eyes and sees something that startles her and entices her at the same time.

"Words to a song, Kal-El?"

He smiled and caressed her cheek.

Her lips so lush, soft and smooth. Her heart is pure and as is her soul. When he looks in her beautiful eyes he sees her vulnerability that she tries so hard to hide, and he felt a swelling within his chest because Diana trusts him enough to allow that vulnerability to shine through when she is with him.

Clark took her hand and pulled her with him so they could go back to his apartment.

They said nothing as they went to Clark's bedroom. He gave her one of his oversized T-shirts to change in for the night.

When Diana stayed the night, sharing Clark's bed was natural for them. The first night was after a long battle with the Red Lantern Corps. They crashed on the couch until Clark woke up and carried Diana to his room to be more comfortable. Waking up to each other, in each other's arms made them realize even more how deep their feelings had been evolving. The nights after, they would just want to spend time together talking about everything, joking, laughing, having dinner and watching movies.

Clark found himself watching her as she fell asleep. He hadn't intended to stare, but she was just so beautiful. Her mouth was slightly open, her hand under her cheek. Mesmerized by her again.

Diana shifted, moving unconsciously closer towards him, laying her head on his chest. He smiled and wrapped her within his embrace, hugging her head close to him, right above his heart so that she can hear that the drumming pattern was for her.

The next morning...

"So dinner tonight. I'll go to market after work. That's the plan, unless we get an inevitable call or something."

Diana smiled and cupped Clark's cheek. "We can always have a late dinner or we can skip to dessert. Either way, doesn't matter as long as I'm spending time with you."

Clark wrapped his arms around her embracing her. Diana hugged him tighter then kissed his cheek lingering for a few seconds.

As their foreheads rest gently against one another's, they take a deep breath and close their eyes. They stay like that, noses touching and lips millimeter apart, for what seems to be forever.

When they pull apart with big, grins on their faces, everything just feels so right.

"I'll see you later, Kal."

"Yeah..."

Diana walked away giggling seeing Clark couldn't stop grinning.

The day had gone by fairly quickly. Diana wrapped up her presentation and lecture with Julia.

"Diana, that was great! I've never had the students that much engaged."

"I think they were more fascinated by detailed description and history of the battles," Diana laughed.

"Well your descriptions were quite vivid...even your encounters with Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the league. Don't think I didn't notice the way you lit up talking about him."

Diana blushed. "Julia..."

"Diana..." she raised her brow.

"Ok...ok...so...he got back home yesterday and I stayed the night with him."

"This has been going on for months now, Diana. Don't you think it's time to have a serious talk about where things are going?"

"I want to. Tonight we are to have dinner. Maybe I'll bring it up then."

"You should."

Diana sighed and smiled. "I will."

Meanwhile...

Superman tossed the unconscious Abramovici twins into the back of the GCPD truck.

"I think you can handle the rest now, Batman," Superman said.

"Where are you rushing off to?"

"Dinner with a certain Woman of Wonder."

"So you two are really making this an official thing?"

"Maybe..."

"Look, I'm just going to say-"

"Don't need any of your paranoia. What's going on between Diana and me is our personal business."

"Would you let me finish?"

"What, Bruce?"

"This is a good thing for both of you. Just be cautious with everything around."

"Uh...thanks." Clark tilted his head and smirked. "So reading between the lines. Did you just say you are happy for us?"

Batman narrowed his eyes. "Don't push it."

Clark smiled and shook his hand.

An hour later...

Clark was walking up the back stairwell of his apartment building, when he looked down only for a moment to get the keycard to open the door.

"Kent! Just the man I wanted to see."

He sighed. "What's up?"

"Maybe yesterday I was a little pushy. But this time I'll play it smooth."

"What are you talking about?"

"What's up with you and Diana? You're her bodyguard or something? I mean I have seen her around here multiple times before now thinking back more but didn't know she was with you."

"I told you yesterday, it's none of your business."

"So if I see her and you, the guard dog isn't around I have all the right to ask the sexy lady out."

"She isn't that kind of girl you think you can have some one night stand with or whatever you do with women coming in and out your apartment every other week."

Paul looked at him shocked. "Woah! Woah, man! I'm living my best life! That's what bachelor's do."

Clark sighed. "Leave her alone."

"There's no way in hell you are just friends."

As Clark and Paul were talking, Diana was walking out the elevator. She was heading to Clark's door until she heard his voice.

"It's complicated, alright. Diana and I have been friends for a long time and we are enjoying each other's company. Where it leads I don't know yet. But I care about her too much for her to be treated as just some notch under your or anyone else's belt. Diana is a very special kind of woman that deserves the utmost respect."

Diana smiled hearing Clark.

"Damn, dude...you are in love with her."

Suddenly her heart dropped anticipating Clark's answer.

Clark paused for a minute letting it all sink in. His mind raced back to every moment from when he first saw Diana, their many battles, quiet moments in the WatchTower, training sessions, to getting to know each other outside the league and everything in between up until now. Every moment with her he cherished and filled his heart with an indescribable feeling he never wanted to go away nor let go of.

He nodded. "Yeah, I am."

Paul laughed. "I'll admit, I'm a little jealous of how a guy like you was lucky enough to meet a beauty like her. I'll just keep living the bachelor life or if Diana has a friend or sister you can maybe talk her to hooking me up? I'm good either way."

Clark shook his head then looked at his watch. "Got dinner to make."

Diana hurried back to Clark's apartment door as if she had just arrived. Clark was surprised to see her.

"Oh? Di, you're here already."

She turned and smiled. "Hey, Clark..." She kissed his cheek taking his key to open the door. "I texted you to tell you I would be a little early."

"Sorry. Got a little sidetracked."

"That was my bad. Sorry," Paul said. "And I want to apologize for being a bit too forward yesterday. I didn't know you two had your thing going on and all but I respect it and I know boundaries. Besides, Kent, here, looks like he bench about 350 or more and I don't want any problems."

"Well thank you, Paul," Diana smiled as she shook his hand.

"You two enjoy your night inside while I get ready to take over the nightlife outside!"

When Paul walked away, Diana opened the door for her and Clark to go in.

"Gladly, dinner won't take that long to make."

"I was hoping I could help? We can cook together. That's really why I want to get here early."

Clark smiled. "Yeah..yeah, of course."

"What are we making?"

"Stuff bell peppers with a side salad."

"Oh that sounds really good."

Clark took out everything from the grocery bags and placed it all on the counter double checking, making sure he got everything.

Clark preheated the oven, boiled the water for the rice and placed the meat in the skillet.

"Alright. Lets get these done."

Clark stood closely behind Diana as he talked her through everything from remove and discard the tops, seeds, and membranes of the bell peppers, all the seasonings, sauces and powders used and mixing it all with the cooked rice and meat then spooned an equal amount of the mixture into each hollowed pepper. Cooking together was like an intimate act to bond over. Every moment of him being so close behind her, Diana felt her whole body flush but she maintained her composure.

"Perfect, Di," Clark said as he set the baking dish in the oven.

Diana smiled and wrapped her arms around him from behind, hugging him.

"I really liked this. I would like to do things like this more often."

Clark smiled and placed his hands over hers.

"Of course. Anything you want."

When the food was done, Clark made their plates and Diana poured their glasses of wine.

Sitting at the table, it was silent for a moment as they ate. Clark looked at Diana and it seemed as though she was in deep thought.

"You okay? What's on your mind?"

Diana smiled. "I was just thinking about the presentation from earlier."

"Oh, how was it?"

"The students were very much engaged. They loved the history lesson of the battles and the analogy to the League and the Olympians. Julia said they are very fond of me so I'll have another presentation scheduled for next month."

"Ah, that's amazing, Di! Let me know the day when it's scheduled. I'd like to be there."

"Oh, Kal, you don't have to. I know how busy the days are."

"I want to be there. I will be there."

Diana smiled and looked down at her plate.

Silent again, as they finished eating. Clark could tell something else was on Diana's mind.

When they were completely done, Diana was about to help clear the table until Clark stopped her.

"I got this. Won't take me long at all." He kissed her cheek.

"Ok...then I'll go change. When you're done, I want to talk about something."

"I knew there was something else bothering you."

"It's not anything bad."

"Oh ok..."

She winked and walked away. Clark couldn't help but smirk always appreciating the view of Diana's backside. Though inside, his stomach was in knots and his mind was racing thinking of what it could be Diana has to tell him.

Walking into his bedroom, Diana sighed. This felt so right as if she and Clark had been together and they'd been living together for years. She opened his dresser drawer and took out one of his T-shirts to put on.

Meanwhile in the kitchen...

Clark was almost done washing the dishes and putting them in the dish rack. He was still preparing himself for whatever Diana was going to tell him but he needed to tell her what has been on his mind as well.

Diana sat on the couch and turned the TV on starting to flip through the channels. All of a sudden she heard a "swoosh" back and forth and then Clark was sitting right next to her with a grin.

She laughed and hit his shoulder. "So silly."

Clark placed his arm around her. "What is it you want to talk about?"

Diana muted the TV and sighed.

Clark frowned. "Di?" He caressed her cheek. "You know you can tell me anything without hesitation."

"I overheard you...earlier...speaking with Paul."

Clark's heart dropped. "Oh...you did?"

Diana nodded.

"Everything?"

"Well I first heard you say that things between us were complicated..."

"Wait, Diana, I don't want you to take that the wrong way. I just meant-"

"He said that you were in love with me and you agreed."

"Diana, I-"

She reached over and kissed him softly. They both felt a spark when her lips touched his. Clark deepened the kiss and pulled Diana to adjust straddling him.

Diana cupped his face and moaned in his mouth as Clark ran his hands slowly up and down her thighs.

Diana broke the kiss and leaned her forehead against his.

"It was becoming harder to try to suppress my feelings for you."

"I don't think you were trying that hard given how things have been between us. Especially these last few months," Diana smirked.

"I can't deny that." Clark laughed. "But seriously, Diana, we've done and been through so much together. We've opened up to each other in ways we never would with anyone else."

"We have this special connection of trust, honesty and understanding."

"Diana?"

"Yes, Kal?"

He caressed her cheek and smiled. "I love you," he said with devotion and passion outlining each letter. The way it slips from his lips like velvet.

"I love you, too," she said without any hesitation as she brought her lips to his again in a passionate kiss.

Clark wrapped his arms and her waist and hoisted her up as he stood up and carried her to his bedroom. He gently laid her down on his bed. Her arms remain locked around his neck. Lips find lips and hearts beat louder.

"Kal," she sighed when they break the kiss again.

As they both try to regain their breath, they stare into each other's eyes. Diana sits up just a bit to take off Clark's shirt. Clark smiled mesmerized by her smooth sun kissed skin. She is everything.

He leaned back down to her, kissing down her neck and over her shoulder to her collarbone and rained kissed near her bra. Diana moaned quietly and pulled Clark back up to her and kissed him. They both groaned with bliss as they deepened the kiss.

More fabric slides away from their bodies and soon they are touching and gasping and it is so, so warm.

The world seemed to stop around them. Every atom around them is frozen, moving only when pushed by the force of their bond. Nothing is between them. They have exceeded the boundaries of flesh and bones.

Eyes locked, it was his way of asking if she was ready and another smile graced her beautiful features before she caught his lips in a passionate kiss. Her arms and legs wrapped tightly around him.

They gasped and called out each other's names in a whisper of ecstasy, as Clark moved in small and incrementally slow thrusts, rocking them into another moment of pure bliss. Diana's nails scratch at his back and tangle in his hair, the heel of her foot dragging along his calf. Their rhythm has her breathless and eager, her heart beating up a small storm against Clark's chest, the slow yet steady buildup unmaking her.

"Kal," she moaned.

Her hips lifting off the mattress, her eyes falling shut, head thrown back until release has reached all her extremities, her muscles and bones undone, her mind unburdened and swimming, body tingling all over.

Clark looked down at her, eyes half-lidded, he smiled softly, his eyes shine warmth and love and every sensation in between. He kissed a path up her neck, along her jawline, until his lips find hers again, brushing together. He settled their foreheads together and claims one of her hands, entwining their fingers before he picks up the rhythm.

They kept whispering words of love to each other as their bodies continued to move together, feeling every inch of each other with the meeting of their sexes. Each movement sang of the passion that absorbed them, and each groan pushed them closer to the edge of pleasure.

Diana arched herself, burying her face into Clark's neck and dug her nails even deeper into his back. Clark could feel her climax coming as she bit his neck, and kept whispering senseless.

She gasped and screamed out as she climaxed with such force and such length. He continued to rock for a few more thrusts, until finally he reached that cliff and went tumbling down with her, spilling inside of her and making her insides light with fire.

Few hours later...

Clark gazed down softly at Diana's beautiful face as she buried herself deeper into him, her skin glowing with the moons light that spilled from the opened window, bathing her in its silver glow.

She slept soundly, a small smile curving her lips. Ever so carefully, the thumb of his hand on her hip stroked at her bare flesh, before moving to lightly trace her back. Thick fingers gently running along her spine and back down in the barest of caresses so as to not disturb her slumber. His lips pulled up into a smile as he watched her own widened in her sleep.

His hand moved from her back, ghosting its way up her body before resting on her cheek, softly tucking away at the stray dark locks of raven hair in her face.

"You still didn't answer my question from the night before?" Her voice, raspy and soft from sleep and her earlier screams of ecstasy, reached his ears as she cracked her beautiful cerulean blue eyes open, eyelashes fluttering as she tried to blink the sleep away.

"Hmm...what was the question? I was so mesmerized I couldn't answer at that moment," he softly teased, head moving down to run his nose along the side of her face.

And like clockwork, her cheeks heated, eyes now wide open and staring up at him in pure love.

"You goof..."

Her hand moved away from its position on his chest, rising to settle itself on his face just as his was on hers.

"To answer your question, yes. They were words to a song. It's one of many that reminds me of you...of us. We have something undefinable. Something no one else would nor could ever understand but us."

"I love that. That's all it needs to be. Just you, me and our trust and understanding of each other and what we have."

She continue to gaze up at him, cheeks still flaming, eyes growing half lidded as she pulled herself up, her face inches from his own.

And as they stayed like that, breaths mingling together, he reached down for her other hand, intertwining their fingers together to bring their joined hands up to his lips, pressed a soft kiss to hers.

Her breath hitched at the jester, absolutely loving him being this way with her, spoiling her with affection so tender and sweet, showing her a side of himself that was hers and only hers to see. She settled her body completely on top of his own, delighted in the feel of their naked bodies molding together.

His arm came up to wrap around her waist, holding her close and burring his nose into her hair, their hands still connected and now tucked safely in between both their chests. And as her breathing and heart rate began to even out, Clark found that so, too, was his as he listened in, their hearts syncing together, music for his super hearing to gladly take in without any interference from the silent night.
