Snippet 4 – Follow the Yellow Brick Road

"I don't get what's going on, Souta!" Kagome pleaded, frantic wide eyes darting back toward home where a warm bath and modern plumbing surely awaited her.

"It's not that hard, Nee-chan. You said last Monday that Aizawa-sensei announced the annual sports festival. You've been training after school every day the last two weeks in prep, ever since the USJ incident –" He paused when Kagome straightened up. "You've still been managing to keep your grades up, but honestly, all this work and the public scrutiny has freaked Mom out. If you go back into the house wearing your old middle school uniform, scuffed up like that, she might need to be hospitalized."

"Who's Aizawa-sensei, and what is the USJ, Souta?" She could not believe how many questions she was asking, but if she could fish for as much information as quickly as possible, Kagome knew she'd have a chance at survival. If she had learned anything from her months of time traveling, it was to get the facts straight away.

Honestly, Kagome suspected she was in an alternate dimension or time warp. Souta acted exactly like he did as she knew him, yet her little brother was now six months older, and talking about things that made absolutely no sense. Complete gibberish.

More shouts from the torii and stairs drew the siblings' eyes, and two heads of crazy hair crested the top of the steps. One appeared bleach blond; the other a black that was almost so dark it seemed tinted green when the light hit it.

What are these colors? She only saw those hair colors in the United States or the Feudal Era. And cartoons.

Clearly the builds were two young men, in their teens and around her age. The bleach blond was glaring with a scowl on his face while the dark-haired male had a big cheerful grin on his face. Both teenagers' eyes zeroed in on her and Souta immediately, while Kagome tensed in preparation for a confrontation if the blond's unhappy look was anything to go by.

"Izuku-nii-chan! Katsuki-nii-chan! This is great – now you can figure out what's wrong with Kagome." Another sigh of exasperation escaped the youngest of the gathered as the newest figures sauntered over.

"What now?" shouted the blond boy.

"Kacchan, calm down. Happy Birthday -! Huh… Kagome, what are you wearing?" the dark-haired boy looked startled.

Kagome just stood there blinking owlishly at the three males.

Souta waited a few beats but when it was clear his sister had gone mute, took the initiative. "She's saying weird things. She stumbled out of the cordoned off wellhouse, dirty and in one of her old uniforms. Argued with me about a bug or something too. And seemed surprised it's her birthday. I think she's sick, but I don't want to worry Ma," he listed off on his fingers. The older boys seemed to make faces as he went.

"I think I'm in another dimension," she mumbled.

Three pairs of eyes stared.

A/N: As promised, 3 for the week to see about further reception and feedback. Also, I think I'm not totally happy with the pace so there might be time skips - also to keep with partial canon-BnHA; granted I tend to read HUGE works over 100k words in less than 3 days so my indecisiveness is off the charts. Also considering changing the genres since I think this might turn into a dark/yandere piece. LMK what you think.

Because I need stability and routine right now, I am probably going to post a Snippet per week. Day undecided.

Also, just to preemptively address the mixed use of spelling and English/Japanese addresses, I like how Souta calls their mom "Mom" and "Ma" in the English dub, but if I recall correctly, the sub has him calling Kagome "Nee-chan" (or it's my imagination, and it's all from fanfics, but who cares); it's really endearing. Also, I'm old school.
