Farron lazily opened a single eye, blinking slowly as it adjusted to the morning light. Once he managed to force its twin open, he patted the bed around him, feeling for his cellphone. A different alarm noise alerts him that his coffee had finished brewing, the happy jingle motivating him to get up. Cursing to himself, he kicked off his fuzzy black cover and rolled out of bed, dressing quickly. His thermal vision lit up what was otherwise a pitch-black room, and his coffee pot was burning red. His cup was out, and he immediately began filling it with the dark brown nectar before adding sugar and cream. He sips the scalding drink before a small smile creeps over his face. Michael allows himself a moment to relax as he rolls a joint and lights it. The only sound made for a while is the ticking of the clock as his two sources of happiness are slowly finished off. He rinses the cup and snubs out his roach before pouring the last of the coffee in a thermos, quickly exiting out his front door.
Mina is waiting for him this time. The sound of his door catches her attention, and she waves excitedly. "Good morning, Michael. How'd you sleep?"
"Morning, Mina. Well, I kinda slept like shit, but fuck it, I'll live. What about you?' His mood improved just looking at her pretty face.
"I slept pretty good. We did indoor battle trials yesterday, so I was a little worn out." She answered as she skipped alongside him.
The sun wasn't out yet, but it was light enough to see that only puddles remained from the last two days of rain. The air was chilly but not cold enough to really affect him. A quick look at the weather app on his phone said it would be chilly all day, if anything.
"So what do you think y'all will be doing today?" Michael asked as last night's text from Shigaraki forced its way to the front of his attention.
"I'm not really sure, actually. Aizawa kept real quiet about it and wouldn't tell us much except that we needed to be ready for anything. Why?" She looked up at him inquisitively.
He glanced down at her and had to catch himself from staring into her black and gold eyes. "Just curious. He told me that I would be participating in your class event today."
"That's awesome! I can't wait to see how you use your quirk!" She said, spinning with a beaming smile.
"The main use for it is awfully similar to Ms. Hagakure's quirk. What makes it different is… ah, just watch this." He stopped suddenly and stood still. His skin had quickly taken on his surroundings' colors, leaving nothing but his clothes visible. The darkness of the early morning had made him nearly entirely invisible as he circled around Mina.
"That's so cool! You and Toru have the same problem. Your clothes don't disappear with you." She said as she pointed at his still visible uniform.
"Yeah, but I'm sure the costume developers will have a solution for that. They come up with all kinds of stuff. I've heard rumors in the crowds that the support class has gotten a newbie that's hellbent on making a name for themself."
The sun had started peeking out as they came upon the entrance gate. The same small crowd from yesterday morning was there, and a few faces from Class 1-A's introduction to him and Shinso. Mina had run up to hug Hagakure, and the two excitedly talked to one another as a tall guy with pipes sticking out of his calves came to him. He was just barely shorter than him but seemed to radiate pure authority. Except that he kept chopping at the air with no sense of rhythm.
"Good Morning, Farron. I am Tenya Lida, and I must apologize for the way Bakugou acted yesterday. He is one of our more unruly classmates, and I was not prepared for his outburst. I am deeply sorry for this and will work to improve it." He took a deep bow, making Michael raise an eyebrow in slight worry before responding.
"Yeah… Mornin'. Don't worry about it, though. Weren't nothin' to it. I'm just ready to see how y'all get down with what we're all doin' today."
"Ah yes. We were told that we'd be departing sometime today for a special exercise, but nothing beyond that. I take it you know a bit more than us, then?"
"Just what we'll be doing, but I'm under the impression that if he didn't tell you, then I probably shouldn't, either." Michael said with a shrug.
"I see. Well, then we'll all just have to do our best on whatever is thrown our way!" Lida exclaimed with a determined look in his eye and a final, decisive chop.
Michael was about to reply when the school's bell sounded off and the gate slid open. The crowd swarmed inside, and Michael found himself back in homeroom. The cold wasn't nearly as bad this morning, so he was far more alert to the world. Students trickled into their respective seats and murmured amongst themselves. Michael plopped down beside Shinso and opened his school bag, then pulled out the thermos and a spare cup with it. Once it was filled, he offered it to him with a tired grin. Shinso took the cup and nodded his thanks as his friend drank from the lid of the thermos, relief visibly washing over him with each sip.
"Good mooooorning class!" Ms. Kayama strutted to the front of the classroom. "I hope you all had a great evening and are ready to be better today than you were before! After all, that's precisely why you're all here!".
She stopped, back turned to the class, before spinning around into a provocative pose. A giggle escaped her before she covered up a small grin and stood back up with a short stack of papers in hand. "These quizzes are to find a general idea of where you may fit in with other classes. Just because you are general education students, doesn't limit you in any respect. They're a hundred and twenty questions and test your academic and physical aptitude. This could be your opening into the support or business courses should you score well enough in either department. Our very own Mr. Farron and Mr. Shinso are taking great strides in getting into the hero courses. So take pride in these tests and do your best!" She bends over slightly, displaying her ample chest. Michael didn't bother to hide his gaze.
The class whispered amongst themselves, unsure and in worry of the test and the teacher's lack of modesty. After a moment to let it sink in, Midnight stood straight again and began handing out the tests. All the while, she swayed her hips and danced around the classroom to some song she hummed softly to herself. She finally passed out the last two tests to Farron and Shinso with a wink and a smile to Michael. "Alright then, class. This test will take up the remainder of homeroom and your first hour, so take your time. Ready? Begin!"
Farron breezed through the majority of the test. Math was the only thing that gave him any real trouble, and he wasn't sure how many he'd gotten correct. The more physical questions were also easy enough. He was relatively comfortable with his answers and decided to just nap until the time was called.
The rest of the day had gone by quick enough until after lunch. He reported into Class 1-A's room and was welcomed with a few smiling faces and Aizawa's deadpan stare. He quickly made his way to the very back, and Aizawa immediately launched into a quick briefing of what needed to happen in the next hour.
As the classroom filed outside in their costumes and onto the buses, he could hear excited and nervous bits of conversation amongst the heroes in training. Midoriya was the only one besides him wearing the standard gym uniform. Eventually, Mina and Toru sat in front of him and wasted no time turning around to talk to him.
"So, Lida mentioned that you actually knew what was going to happen today, and we want to know!" Mina demanded with a fake pout.
Michael could feel multiple eyes on him, and one look upfront let him know that Aizawa's were among them. "I'm not just gonna ruin the surprise." He said with a smile as Mina and Toru groaned.
"Ugh. You're no fun!" Mina turned away, closing her eyes and frowning. Once the class had shifted their attention back to whatever they had been doing, Michael pulled his phone out and shot a text to Mina.
Hey. We're doing some kind of rescue training. Don't tell nobody else.
A few seconds went by until he heard her phone's notification sound. It was the 'game over man, game over!' line from the Alien movies. She shot up and turned around in her seat before looking at him with a big smile. A white domino mask brought out her black and gold eyes, while her wild pink hair mixed with the white fur on her collar. Her light pink skin was flawless. Knowing he made her smile made something inside him feel better about himself. It took her flicking his nose to bring him back to reality.
"Earth to Michael. You okay?" She asked as she leaned over the seat to get a closer look at him.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm good. What were you saying?" He said, trying not to stumble through his words.
"I was going to ask you for details, but I think you were too busy staring." She teased with a slight smirk.
He sat in silence as she looked him over. "You have pretty eyes. That's all." He quickly looked back at his phone.
Mina sat back down in her seat with a purple blush on her cheeks. Toru's chest leaned towards her, and she could hear the girl struggling to hold in a squeal of delight. Mina pulled out her phone and shot a text to him.
Ok, handsome. Give me those details.
Toru excitedly whispered in her ear, " He totally likes you! Oh my god, I'm so excited! Do you like him back?"
"Hmmm. I don't know yet. We'll talk more about this later, okay girl?" Mina whispered back, distracted by the notification sound of Michael's phone. It was a rattling sound followed by a hiss. She thought it suited him pretty well.
I don't know anything else about it. All I was told is that we'll be doing rescue work to showcase our teamwork in crisis situations. I figure something is going to happen, though. I wouldn't put it past the U.A. to include fake villains to test us. Just be ready for anything. His text read as a great domed building finally rolled into view.
The bus came to a stop, and the students filed out and stretched. Once Aizawa had accountability of everyone, he gestured for the class to head inside. A figure in a puffy space suit of some kind was waving to the group and gestured for them to come closer.
"Good afternoon students, I am Space Hero: Thirteen! Today we will be training your rescue abilities here in the Unforeseen Simulation Joint Facility. Combat ability is great, but every hero's main job is making sure civilians are safe. So today, we will go through the many different possible scenarios where your main mission is to search and rescue. Any questions? No? Then let's begin!" The hero said as she led the group down the stairs.
They had only gotten halfway down when a giant purple and black portal ripped open in the courtyard. Figures poured out of the opening in waves and massed into a legion of sorts.
"Is this part of the exercise?" asked a small student with a black bolt through his blonde hair. Mina looked over at Michael. A mixture of fear and confusion on her face. His face held only cold indifference to the sight of the intruders.
"Those are real villains. Everyone get back, and Thirteen make sure they're alright." Aizawa pushed in front of the students, with his capture weapon at the ready. Once the villains finally stopped pouring out the hole, it formed into a figure of purple and black mist with a metal bracer around his neck. To his side was a man covered in hands with two bloodshot eyes staring from behind the macabre mask.
"Good evening and apologies for being so bold, but we've come here to kill All-Might. The only problem is that he doesn't seem to be here. Maybe our source was wrong? It doesn't matter. We'll just have to get his attention, then." Said the deep voice of the warper.
Michael narrowed his eyes at Kurogiri's words. He hadn't reported back since he informed them that one of the hero students was his new neighbor. There should be no other source of information coming from within the school. He cracked his knuckles, deciding to look into this new competition. He could hear voices yelling around him and saw Aizawa jump into the amassed villains. He knew he had to keep cover and rushed to attack the warp user alongside Bakugo and Kirishima. Kurogiri spotted the three and seemed to let his eyes linger on Michael as he opened a gate. Farron braced himself for the impact and broke his fall with a roll.
He shot up to look at his new surroundings and found only grey rock and an overhead view of the rest of the USJ. A few yelps and a grunt of pain behind him alerted him to the arrival of some of his new friends. Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and Denki had fallen a few feet behind him into a pile. A glance down the mountain let him see a sizable portion of the villains headed up towards them and closing fast. He bounded to the dogpile and pulled them apart as quickly as he could.
"Heads up! We've got a lotta company about 200 meters down the mountain and closing. I need to know what the three of you can do, and I need to know now!"
Yaoyorozu went first. "I can create any non-living material from my body."
"I can plug my jacks into my boots and create powerful soundwaves." Said Jiro as she took a look down at the masses.
"I can generate electricity." Kaminari stammered, unsure of the situation.
"Miss Yaoyozoru, create some weapons for us, I know you might not like it, but it's them or us. I choose us, so be ready to do what you need to. Miss Jiro, you'll be on crowd control. If any of them group up or get too close, you'll show them why that's a bad fuckin' idea. Kaminari, you'll be in direct support of these two. Should anyone get in their face, you fucking fry them. I'll be drawing their attention and doing what I can to keep 'em off y'all." Michael flexed his fingers. It had been too long since his last real fight.
"Any weapon preferences?" Yaoyorozu asked the three of them.
"Two nightsticks." Said Michael.
"A sword." Said Jiro.
"I am the weapon!" Answered Kaminari with lightning arcing over his hands.
She nodded and started pulling the equipment from her stomach and passing it around before pulling out a metal bo staff for herself. The four tensed as the villains' voices grew louder and had formed into a wedge formation with Michael at the front. Finally, the enemies arrived and slowly surrounded the four of them. He looked back at the three and whispered, "We're literally caught between a rock and a hard place. Just remember the plan and we get out alive."
They gave him a few nods in return before looking back to the villains. The one at the front opened his mouth to say something. Before a word escaped his lips, Michael was swinging a nightstick full force into his jaw. A loud crack rattled the air, and the man was on the ground, unconscious and bleeding from the mouth. The amassed enemies were only snapped out of their shock when they realized that two more of their number had already been put down. The sonic blasts from Jiro's heartbeat reminded the mob that there was more than one threat. Breaking off from attacking Michael, a mass of the enemies started advancing on the other three.
The mountain had erupted into a cacophony of cracking bones, screaming, and sonic heartbeats as the four fought for their lives. Yaoyorozu's staff was a spinning blur of motion that would slam into the bodies of whoever came close. Jiro's sword and sonic blasts broke any attempts to rally against the trio that only got more powerful as her heart rate increased. Kaminari would intercept the few stragglers who could get past the two and let them ride the lightning. Michael's onslaught against the horde was neither graceful nor heroic, only hyper focused ferocity.
One villain was circling Michael, the man resembled a giant crocodile more than a human. "Are you really going to die for this hero thing, boy?"
"Someone is."
The two rushed each other, and Farron had barely managed to raise a nightstick to keep his opponent's crocodilian mouth from clamping onto his shoulder. His free hand was slamming the second nightstick into the side of his enemy's knee as hard as possible, the sound of bone on metal with each swing. The monster roared in pain before finally biting down on Farron's arm. The two were screaming at each other in agony until the larger reptilian mutant brought them both to the ground. They were locked into a death roll, and both struggled for control over the other. Michael had resorted to biting back and trying to free his now shredded arm. Blood gushed from the two's wounds, but the venom had been pushed throughout the villain's body at a much faster rate due to the man's heart racing. Finally, Michael brought his mangled arm out of the mouth, and his good arm was frantically slamming the surviving nightstick into the skull of the unconscious mutant.
"Yaoyorozu! Massive hemorrhage in the left arm. I need medical!" He yelled as he ran back to the trio.
Momo had quickly begun to create the medical supplies and caught Michael as he stumbled into the formation. Laying him down as gently as she could, she quickly applied the tourniquet and ran through her basic medical checkup. Jiro and Kaminari had taken up positions to cover the two. A small handful of enemies had surrounded the group in a silent challenge, emboldened by the loss of their frontline fighter. Momo had finally prepared the alcohol, and Michael nodded as he bit down on a wad of his shredded gym suit. The gag didn't do much to silence his scream, but it was enough for the enemies to begin their last-ditch assault on them.
"What do we do?" Asked Kaminari as they closed in.
"How much energy can you put out?" asked Jiro as she slipped a punch and sliced a leg that didn't get away quick enough.
"Enough to shut everyone here down, but it'll shock us too." He answered.
Momo didn't think twice as she ripped her shirt off and began to create something. Jiro was the last one fighting as Kaminari started to build up his charge.
"Insulated blanket! Jiro, get under the cover!" She screamed as a giant sheet fell over her and Michael. Jiro broke away and slid under the blanket to see Michael bloody and shaking as he fought off the shock setting in. Momo, topless as she began tending to Michael's smaller injuries.
As soon as the three were clear, Kaminari's voice could be heard. "Indiscriminate shock! One million volts!"
The sound of electricity could just barely be heard over the handful of villains screaming. Once the screams ended, Momo ripped off the blanket, herself and Jiro were relieved to see Kaminari stumbling around, two thumbs up and a dumb smile on his face. Yaoyozoru stood up with the blanket wrapped around her as Michael laid behind her, doing his best to stay awake. Jiro was at her side and blushing as she helped to make sure Momo was decent.
An explosion came from the ground, and dust swallowed Kaminari. "Impressive. I didn't expect this from high school kids, but I respect the balls you kids have shown. Now I'm an electric type myself, so I'm gonna give you two girls an option. You both give yourselves up, so this guy can live, or I just kill him and do what I want to the two of you anyways. So what's it gonna be?" A large man walked out of the dust cloud, holding Kaminari by his neck.
Jiro tried to sneak a jack into her boot, but the man locked his gaze onto her and said, "Don't try it, kid. I'm not stupid enough to fall for a sneak attack like that. Now, how about the two of you just walk over here nice and slow."
The girls walked forward slowly, and the man glanced behind them to see a mangled, shredded gym top, bloody gym pants, and a large blood splatter on the ground. "What the fuck happened there? Did my buddies here manage to kill one of you or something? I suppose they weren't entirely worthless then." He said as the realization hit the two girls.
Yaoyorozu instantly raised her hands in surrender, defiance in her eyes "Ok. You can have me; just don't hurt him."
"Yes, just let him go." Jiro spat, the spite in her voice barely concealed.
The man threw Kaminari's half-brain-dead body to the side and walked towards the girls with a sadistic smile. This time he didn't seem to notice Jiro's hand clenching her sword. Behind him, Michael shimmered into view naked, nightstick poised to strike. Without a word, the blunt weapon was brought down into the base of the man's skull, and he was on the ground, unconscious. He rolled the man face up with a kick to the stomach and swung several more times on the man's face and neck in a rage. The two girls ran to him and pulled the seething boy off the man whose face was a bloody mess.
"Farron! Farron, stop! He's done. We won, so please stop this. You don't need to kill him, please!" The girls pleaded as he weakly struggled to keep beating the mangled villain.
Managing to pull himself back together, Farron spit on the man's body. Adrenaline coursed through his veins, the second wind bringing him just barely out of the brink. Kaminari had managed to find his way to a spot away from all the bloodshed, sitting quietly with a dorky smile and thumb to the sky. With one last look at the smashed in, bloody face of the would-be rapist, Michael limped over to join the blond and finally fell unconscious from blood-loss. The girls sat next to them, and Momo looked over each of them before treating their wounds in silence.
The three of them sat quietly for a few minutes after that to catch their breath and calm down. Once everyone relaxed, Jiro looked down to see Farron was still naked. She gasped in embarrassment, and Yaoyorozu looked at what the problem was. She blushed for a moment before creating another blanket, and covering him. By now, Kaminari had regained his senses and profusely apologized for the situation.
"We don't blame you. If anything, you really helped us out by getting those dicks off our back." said Jiro as she stood up and looked over Michael's covered body.
Blood had seeped through some parts of the blanket, but he had mostly stopped bleeding. They were pretty sure his arm was broken in a few spots, the bones seemingly deformed under the skin. A look to the central plaza showed the three that All Might had arrived, and teachers were on their way.
"Hey, Yaoyorozu. Can you create a flare or something to get their eyes on us?" Jiro asked.
She nodded and, in a few moments, had a signal gun loaded and aimed in the air. A loud pop sent a burning flare into the sky that slowly fell to the ground. Half an hour had gone by, and finally, the voice of Ectoplasm was heard calling out for them. Kaminari started guiding the teachers to them now that his headset had signal again, and they were evacuated within the hour.
Michael shared an ambulance ride with Midoriya to the emergency room. He awoke to his vision blurry and drowsy from blood loss, but held onto consciousness through the rage that was rapidly building. The league had come close to both killing him and the rape of two students. He had only wanted to get back at the hero society for their failure to help his family. If he needed to kill a few people or cause a little chaos, then so be it, but he knew where the line was. The League had willingly employed those that would cross it, and now he would have words with Shigaraki.
Looking at Midoriya, he could see that he had gotten off fairly well. The slight boy looked broken all over and was knocked out. Michael laughed at the fact that they had lived through this once before already. Midoryia had completely broken himself, while he had comparatively minor injuries.
"You are fucking insane." He said with a quiet laugh to the sleeping student.
A paramedic walked between the two boys, checked their vitals, and administered some medicine before seeing Farron awake. "How are you feeling, kid?"
"Oh, I'm just fuckin dandy."
The paramedic laughed before saying, "Well, Recovery Girl is waiting at the hospital for the two of you, so I'm going to put you under. You'll need all the rest you can get for now."
Michael nodded as he felt an injection in his arm and quickly drifted off to sleep.
