I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the Main OC and any other OC's that will appear in the story. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.

Chapter Seven

It has been a whole week since Luz and Danielle arrived on the boiling isles. Clouds were covering the sky this peculiar night, for a storm was approaching. Luz and Danielle were inside the owl house staring at King setting up a board and some other stuff for his lecture on demons. Luz on the other hand was using her cellphone to video King's cuteness while Danielle was looking at one of the books.

"And here we have the most fearsome creature in the world, the King of Demons," said Luz, making Danielle giggle with her voice acting. "Facing his natural enemy, the ducky sock!"

"Where are you now, ducky sock?" shouted King, tearing the ducky sock off his snout and ripping it up.

"Così carino," said Danielle, containing her giggles.

"So, why'd you call me and Danielle here again?" asked Luz, lowering her cellphone.

"Oh, yeah. Human Luz, Human Danielle, you've been so obsessed with witchcraft that you haven't learned anything about my kind. Prepare yourself for..." said King, climbing onto a table and pulling down a curtain to reveal the board he had set up and putting on blue beret. "Demons 101. Demons like me are grim tricksters of the twilight, creatures of sulfur and bone."

"And cute little paws," said Luz, back to filming King on her cellphone.

"And cute little toe beans," said Danielle, peering over the book with a smile and a giggle.

"And cute little paws and toe beans. True," said King, lifting up a pen he borrowed from Luz, pointing at his board. "We live only to create chaos and misery. Our only weaknesses are purified water and passive-aggressive comments. Sometimes."

"Oh, you guys are sensitive," said Luz, making sure King was in shot of her cellphone.

"Even demons have inner demons," said King, before ripping off a picture to reveal a picture of a snarling demon. "The most powerful demon of all is the Snaggleback. He's a…"

"Bad boy!" said Luz, adding icons to the shot.

"Luz," said Danielle, staring at the shot while giggling slightly.

"Luz, Danielle, pay attention," said King, staring at the girls. "This information could save your life someday."

"No, no. I am so paying attention. This is my paying attention face," said Luz, continuously nodding. "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm."

"Sorry King," said Danielle, righting herself into a better sitting position before hearing thunder.

"Uh-oh. Looks like it's gonna rain," said King, seeing lightning as well.

"I love the rain," said Luz, getting up and walking towards the front door.

"Same here," replied Danielle, walking over as well. "Not so much the thunder and lightning."

"Hey, wait," said King, about to warn them about the rain.

"I always love feeling the first few drops in my hair. I bet you do too, little buddy," said Luz, walking out the door and bending down to look at a flower before it withered and died from the rain droplet. "What?"

"Huh…?" said Danielle, extending her hand up to feel a drop only for it to steam in her hand yet not hurt her. "That's odd."

"Boiling rain!" shouted Eda, running towards the house. "Everybody inside now!"

"But…" said Danielle, feeling even more of the boiling rain. "It doesn't hurt."

"Huh?" said Luz, only for Eda to grab her arm and drag her inside alongside Danielle, crashing inside the house.

"Phew! That was close," said Eda, glad to be out of the boiling rain and staring at the girls. "But the important thing is you didn't get hurt."

"Yep," said Luz, lying painfully and groaning when a cup falls and hits her head. "Not hurt."

"Ow," said Danielle, wincing before King landed on her. "O-ow!"

The storm has finally settled in and the people of Bonesborough were quickly trying to find shelter. Willow pulled in her plants for the day. At the owl house, Eda was outside, a barrier around her, casting a spell, that would put a barrier around the owl house to protect it from the boiling rain.

"Look, now we're boo-boo buddies," said King, placing a bandage on Luz's arm before placing one on his snout.

"Oh, my gosh, I love you so much," said Luz, squealing before looking at Eda. "A boiling rainstorm on the Boiling Isles. The weather here is so fun."

"And yet, the rain…" said Danielle, trying to let the rain hit her only for Hooty to pull her in. "Doesn't hurt me."

"Hoo…" hooted Hooty, staring at Danielle confused.

"Yeah, we don't have weather," said Eda, moving her hands around the spell she was casting. "We have plagues, gorenados, shale hail, painbows."

"It's like a rainbow but looking at it turns you inside out," said King, looking at Luz.

"Nope," said Danielle, not liking the sound of painbows and seeing Luz cover her head with her hoodie and pulling the strings to close it. "I don't think that's going to work."

"So, until the boiling rain stops, no one is allowed outside tonight," said Eda, looking at the girls and King.

"And if the rain doesn't get you, the Snaggleback will," said King, taking out a book under his beret and showing the pictures. "They wander the rain, feeding on boiled tourists."

"Yikes," said Danielle, staring at the book. "Nice pictures though."

"Well, whatever the case, this force field spell should protect the house from boiling rains and made-up demons," said Eda, staring at King on the last part.

"Hoot! Well, hurry it up with that force field," said Hooty, not liking the feeling of the boiling rain. "That rain is getting closer to my precious stucco."

"I wish I could help somehow," said Danielle, petting Hooty.

"Huh…" said Hooty, enjoying the petting only to notice the boiling rain wasn't hurting him anymore. "That's odd…"

"Yeah, yeah. I got it," said Eda, finishing the spell and having the force field engulf the house before it shrunk down shaping closely around it.

"Wow! Someday I'd like to be as cool as Eda the Owl Lady," said Luz, staring at Eda as she walked back to the house. "Magical, sassy, surprisingly foxy for her age. Hey, why do they call you the Owl Lady, anyway?"

"'Cause I'm so wise" said Eda, pointing at her head.

"Much like the owl symbolizes," said Danielle, stroking underneath Hooty's chin. "I like looking up that kind of stuff."

"'Cause she coughs up rat bones," said Hooty, staring at Luz while still being petted. "Hoooo…"

"I think it's 'cause she gets distracted by shiny objects," said King, staring at the girls.

"No, I don't," said Eda, only for King to take out the pen from earlier and start clicking it while the top part glows. "It sparkles and shimmers. It shines and delights. I must have it for my nest..."

"Whoa, Eda," said Danielle, seeing Eda lung for the pen only to crash to the ground. "You okay?"

"You have a nest? I want a nest!" said Luz, grabbing Eda's hand before helping her up with Danielle's assistance. "Nest party!"

"Ugh," said Eda, tiredly. "That force field really took it out of me."

"Maybe you should lie down," said Danielle, keeping Eda steady.

"Uh-oh. Moving a little slow. Age finally catching up to ya?" asked King, only for Eda to pull his beret over his eyes. "Darkness!"

"This is perfect," said Luz, watching Eda head inside while Danielle made sure she got to the couch. "Since we'll be stuck in the house all night, Eda won't have any excuse not to teach me a spell."

"I hope Collector is alright," thought Danielle, cringing from the late booming thunder and cracking lightning. "This is an awful storm."

"But don't you wanna finish our lesson? I was gonna let you scratch a demon's tummy," said King, staring at Luz as she went back inside the house. "Me!"

"Oh, uh, sorry, King," said Luz, turning around and looking at King. "But... magic."

"Come on King," said Danielle, picking King up and fixing his hat before taking him back inside.

"Ahh!" said Eda, going behind a privacy screen and changing into her nightwear before laying on the couch then being startled by Luz.

"Oh, Eda, have I told you how rad your fang looks today?" said Luz, staring down at Eda.

"Whatever it is, no," said Eda, trying to rest.

"Uh, and your hair is like..." said Luz, still trying to get Eda to teach her magic. "Girl."

"I'm not teaching you magic tonight. I'm sleepy," said Eda, before pulling a blanket over herself. "I'm a sleepy little owl."

"Please, Eda, please," said Luz, still going at it. "How am I supposed to earn my witch's staff if I don't know any spells?"

"Luz," said Danielle, sitting on the other end of the couch. "Eda does seem really tired."

"Yes. Sleep," said Eda, liking what Danielle said before hearing Luz clicking her pen. "Sparkle thing."

"Oh, this?" said Luz, still clicking the pen and pulling it away when Eda swipes for it. "Nope."

"Luz, really," said Danielle, looking at Luz.

"Teach me one spell, and I'll give you your sparkle thing," said Luz, dangling the pen in front of Eda.

"I swear," thought Danielle, crossing her arms over her chest. "I hate it when people don't hear me."

"I respect your cunning, but I also hate you for it," said Eda, before straightening up and beginning a small lesson. "If you want a witch's staff like mine, don't make me repeat myself."

"Eda, maybe you should sit down," said Danielle, seeing Eda falling asleep then forcing herself back awake. "I don't want you to push yourself."

"I'm fine," said Eda, yawning. "Witch's staffs have power embedded into them."

"Gimme!" said Luz, flexing her hands for the staff.

"But before one is earned, every witch needs to know how to cast spells on their own. Now..." said Eda, tossing her staff and drawing a spell circle. "Tonight I will show you how to create... light."

"Whoa…" said Danielle, the light floating in front of her and Luz before her eyes flashed white for a split second before rubbing them. "What the…? I could have sworn I saw a drawing in the light spell."

"Yawn! Who needs another boring spell lesson when you could be learning all the fun ways a demon could kill you," said King, before picking up one of his drawings. "Look how teethy. Bite, bite."

"Be quiet," said Luz, staring at King then back to Eda. "I need to focus."

"Uh…" said Danielle, seeing that King was hurt before scooting over to him. "That's a really good drawing."

"Thanks Danielle," said King, sighing before looking at Luz. "But I want Luz to know too."

"Now, humans think magic is made out of thin air, but that's stupid. Everything comes from something," said Eda, before staring at the girls. "Let me ask you, kids. Where do you think magic comes from?"

"Uh, from the heart?" said Luz, thinking of a good answer.

"Mana," said Danielle, remembering what Collector said. "But also, heart and imagination."

"What the heck is mana?" asked Eda, staring at Danielle who blushed in embarrassment. "Actually, you're right. On the heart part that is. Imagination is actually a pretty good one. Got to know what you want."

"Right…" said Danielle, liking how Collector said it better and wanting to make sure he was okay.

"No, really," said Eda, pulling out a rolled-up paper and showing the diagram on it. "It comes from a sac of magic bile attached to a witch's heart."

"To help regulate your magic," said Danielle, confusing Eda before curling in on herself. "Um… never mind."

"Oh, gross," said Luz, wanting the diagram. "Can I keep that?"

"No," replied Eda, shoving the rolled-up paper into her hair before drawing a big spell circle. "Now, everything depends on the spell circle. The bigger the circle, the more powerful the spell."

"I'm still hitting a snag on my magic," said Danielle, before rubbing King's back. "There's got to be a way past it."

"But how can I, little ol' Luz, do magic if I don't have a magic bile... sac?" asked Luz, staring at Eda.

"You know, I'm not actually sure," said Eda, wondering herself.

"What?" said the girls, perplexed.

"I know witches did magic differently in the past, but I never bothered to figure out how," said Eda, laughing then snorting.

"Eda!" said Luz, staring at Eda.

"Must be a lost art," said Danielle, wondering how magic was done in the past.

"Don't worry. You'll figure it out. Now…" said Eda, stretching and popping her back. "I need to lie down."

"That's it? Wait! I need to see you do the circle thingy again," said Luz, grabbing her cellphone. "I'll record it on my phone this time."

"Luz, give Eda a break," said Danielle, seeing Luz turn her cellphone back on.

"Smile! You're on camera. One more spell won't kill you," said Luz, focusing the shot on Eda.

"Again," thought Danielle, leaning her back against the couch. "No one hears me."

"Fine. Now, you see, the... spell circle is really key because…" said Eda, drawing a shaky spell circle before conking out. "Ooh, boy."

"Eda!" shouted Danielle, running over to check on Eda.

"Welp, looks like one more spell killed Eda," said King, staring at a passed-out Eda and hearing Luz yelp.

"Oh, my gosh. My obsession with spells knocked out Eda," said Luz, panicking. "I'm a monster."

"Looks like she just fell asleep," said Danielle, seeing Eda lightly snoring before looking at Luz. "Shouldn't have pushed her."

"Bap! Yep. She's out. Bap!" said King, slapping Eda's face. "Just making sure."

"We should get help, right?" said Luz, running towards the front door only to be stopped by Danielle and King.

"Boiling rains, remember?" said King, reminding Luz.

"No, let her try. It'll be funny," said Hooty, before King slammed the door shut.

"But what if Eda's dead?" asked Luz, staring back at Eda.

"Shiny thing," said Eda, sleep talking then snoring. "Big nest."

"Remember when her head got cut off last week? That woman can survive anything," said King, staring at the girls. "She's probably just tired from staying up all night chasing shrews and voles."

"Well, we can't just leave her on the floor," said Luz, staring at King.

"Then let's get her up to bed," said Danielle, before staring at Luz and King. "Besides, I know what you did that night. Putting me in Eda's room."

"Ehehehe," said Luz and King, remembering that night.

Grabbing hold of Eda, the girls carry her up to her room on the third floor. King opened the bedroom door when the girls struggled to keep Eda in their arms. Luz was able to bend down and pushed aside some animal bones before her and Danielle laid Eda in her bed… well actually, her nest.

"Sorry for pushing you, Miss Eda," said Luz, staring at a sleeping Eda. "Please don't hurt me when you wake up."

"Buona notte," said Danielle, pushing a lock of Eda's hair back. "E sogni d'oro Eda."

"Should I bap her again?" said King, peering over the edge of Eda's nest.

"Just let her rest, you little goober," said Luz, rubbing King's head. "Come on. Let's go downstairs."

"Bap!" said King, getting one more slap in and chuckling as he followed the girls downstairs.

When they had gotten back to the living room, King grabbed his books, papers, and crayons. Luz tried to draw a spell circle at various points but no such point. And Danielle was just listening to the pitter patter of the rain against the barrier.

"Yeah, yeah," said King, drawing a picture of a demon.

"This is all she does," said Luz, groaning and trying to draw another spell circle. "Why you gotta be so cryptic, Owl Lady? Danielle, anything with you?"

"Uh… let's see," said Danielle, drawing a spell circle, not noticing it since it was pretty thin and unseeable. "Nope, a dud as well."

"Now, you see, the spell circle is really...," said a video recording of Eda, drawing a spell circle.

"Hey, you know what's really cryptish? Let me tell you about the most spine-chilling demon," said King, lifting up his notepad. "Smoochy-pie the Sweetie Baby! He's... Well, he's a lot more threatening than his name implies."

"I'd say," said Danielle, looking at the picture. "Mmm."

"Not now, King. I want to figure out this spell," said Luz, staring at her cellphone. "But if I don't have a magic sac, what's the point? I'll just be twirling my fingers around un-magically forever."

"Why do you want to learn magic so bad, anyway?" asked King, staring at the girls. "The both of you, that is."

"I was a nobody back home," said Luz, sitting down on some pillows on the floor. "But becoming a witch is my chance to be someone. Do you know what it's like to have no one take you seriously?"

"I really don't know," replied Danielle, rubbing the back of her neck. "I always thought it would be neat to do magic. But since coming here… it likes… I don't know… like I'm required to. A little voice in the back of my head saying I need it for something. I don't really understand but… if I can help people with it, then it's fine with me."

"If I help you two learn that spell, could we finish our lesson?" asked King, deeply sighing.

"Of course," replied Danielle, staring at King. "I am curious to see which ones from the myths and legends from back home are real. Please let kitsunes be real."

"Oh, yes, yes," said Luz, putting away her cellphone. "You can teach me about demons all week if you help me learn this spell."

"Well, she said witches used to do magic differently, so there has to be a way, right?" said King, drawing in his notepad before showing the girls. "And I have a theory. Every day I notice Eda sneaking drinks of this special elixir, see? Then she always gets a boost of energy, see? I think that's where she gets her powers. And I know where to get some."

"Really?" said Luz, staring at King.

"Hmmm…" thought Danielle, thinking about the elixir. "Is this really what I need to pass that block?"

"Sí," said King, before Luz pulls him into a spinning hug.

"Thank you so much," said Luz, staring at King. "You're a prince."

"King," said King, staring at Luz. "I'm King."

"Right," said Luz, smiling at King.

"Someone is taking their language lessons alright," said Danielle, scratching underneath King's chin. "Awesome work King. But remember, I'm not teaching you the naughty words."

Sneaking upstairs, King pushes the door to Eda's room open. Quietly, King slowly looks around while hearing Eda snore. Lightning lights up the room long enough for King to spot something.

"Now where could it be..." said King, in a low voice before spotting a golden elixir nearby before having to dodge a trap. "Ha! Nice try."

"Nah, my heart wasn't in it," said the trap, walking away.

"An elixir a day. Cryptic," said King, tearing the tag off the elixir and putting it in his collar before grabbing it before looking at Eda then the elixir guiltily, making nervous noises. "Nah."

Running back downstairs, King looks for the girls. Noticing they weren't in the living room, King heads towards the kitchen after hearing some movement. Turns out, Danielle was making some small snacks for everyone.

"Got it!" said King, seeing that Luz was wearing a bib.

"This is the elixir," said Danielle, staring at the bottle. "Are we really that desperate to do this?"

"Wow. I can't believe I'm about to learn magic. Real magic. This is historic," said Luz, about to sip some of it only for a clap of thunder to startle her and drop the elixir, shattering it. "Golden elixir. Gone! This is awful."

"Who even needs a light spell when we have tons of lamps?" said King, only for the lights to go out.

"I do!" said Danielle, a little scared.

"Hooty controls the house lights," said King, groaning. "He probably just fell asleep."

"Hoot! Hoot!" screamed Hooty, the sound off crashing heard from the living room.

"Hooty!" said Danielle, running towards the living room.

"Hooty!" said Luz, taking off the bib and following Danielle.

"Hoot, oh, hoot!" screamed Hooty, obviously in pain.

"Hooty!" said Danielle, gasping when seeing a shadowy beast had knocked down Hooty and had claw marks on the door, only for the shadowy beast to notice them and run away. "Mister Owl!"

"Hooty! Are you in there?" asked Luz, checking on Hooty, tapping his beak a few times than opening his eyes. "Whatever did this escaped into the rain. What could survive that?"

"Oh Hooty," said Danielle, rubbing her hand across the claw marks not noticing her magic seeping into the wounds and slowly healing them.

"Oh, my gosh. The Snaggleback! It feeds during the rains," said King, examining the claw marks on the door frame before looking at the girls. "It must have stumbled across our house and seen us inside."

"I don't think it's done," said Danielle, hearing it howl before going outside with the others and seeing it jump through a window on the second floor. "Eda is up there."

"This is terrifying," said Luz, before staring at King. "So why do you look so happy?"

"Because this could be a lesson," said King, squealing. "This would be a great way for you to see a wild demon up close and personal."

"You want to go toward those creepy sounds?" said Luz, pointing in the direction where the shadowy beast went. "No way!"

"This has become a horror movie," said Danielle, nervously and scared before looking towards the third floor. "Eda…"

"What if Eda gets eaten?" asked King, staring at Luz. "She's upstairs and defenseless because you knocked her out."

Groaning, the girls prep themselves up with gear to take on the shadowy beast. Rubber gloves, pillows taped around the upper body, bandages on their cheeks. Luz grabbed a hockey stick nearby while King grabbed Francois. Looking around, Danielle grabs a frying pan and ladle out of the cabinets. Slowly going upstairs, Luz uses her cellphone like a flashlight. Peering around the corner, the girls and King slowly head to Eda's room, only to see the room in disarray.

"Oh, my gosh," said Luz, seeing the empty nest. "Eda!"

"No no no!" said Danielle, slumping down near the nest. "Questo è brutto. Davvero pessimo! Eda!

"She got snaggle-backed," shouted King, not liking what he's seeing.

"Eda?" said Luz, holding up a slashed pillow. "No! Slash marks. King! You're the demon expert. We need your help."

"Eda…" said Danielle, holding one of Eda's pillow close. "No…"

"I'll go get my demon book," said King, heading downstairs to grab the book.

"Wait… King!" said Danielle, seeing that King had already left the area. "Come on Luz. King shouldn't be by himself."

"¡Vamos!" said Luz, following Danielle down the hall before tripping and losing her shoe. "Whoa!"

"You can get the shoe back later, right?" asked Danielle, before seeing movement down the hall before grabbing Luz. "Andiamo! Andiamo!"

"Here," said Luz, pulling Danielle into a different room, listening for any sound before peeking out the door. "Let's head back to Eda's room. Maybe King is back there."

"Okay!" said Danielle, running back to Eda's room with Luz and closing the doors before seeing King wasn't there. "King… where is he?"

"I don't know," said Luz, before hearing the sound of small footsteps coming their way. "King…"

Back with King when he left Eda's room and came back with not just one book but two, King noticed the girls were gone. Scared, King drops his books.

"Wait, wait. First edition or second?" said King, gasping and dropping his books. "Luz? Danielle? The Snaggleback got them."

Running after the shadowy beast that just cornered the room, King hears it snarls. Not wanting it to escape, King keeps running after it.

"You craven beast. Give me back my boo-boo buddy and cooking goddess," shouted King, before coming towards a closet door and noticing Luz's shoe before entering the closet. "Luz? There's nowhere for you to run! Snaggleback? Wow. You are a lot shorter in person."

Before King, was a pink furred ape with yellow fangs and a teal tortoise shell with spikes on its back. Cowering behind the clothes in the closet before King pushed them to the side when confronted.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," said Snaggleback, stammering. "I-I just needed a place to hide from the rains."

"Then why did you break down our door and take Luz and Danielle? That's not cool, man," said King, pointing at Snaggleback. "Bad Snaggleback!"

"I-I didn't do any of that stuff," said Snaggleback, still stammering and looking at King. "I snuck in through a window just now."

"Huh? Well, then what..." said King, before hearing a crash above them.

"Oh, no! A twist!" shouted Snaggleback, a clawed hand pulling him up towards the cracked ceiling.

Snarls and stomps can be heard as King backs away from the hole. Something bangs against the door. King yells, then whimpers. The door creaks open, revealing the shadowy beast, still snarling. It spits out Snaggleback's shell, then roars.

"Oh, my," said King, seeing the shadowy beast advanced towards him, forcing him against the wall. "Stay back. Hey, hey. I am the king of demons, okay? And as such, I demand you to barf my friends back up."

The beast screeches and raises a claw. King yells and ducks, and the claws score the wall where his head was a moment before, King runs. Far nimbler than the beast, King rounds the corners with ease while the beast slams into the walls. King is yelping and the beast is snarling. When King rounds another corner, Luz's arm reaches out and pulls him into a room. The door closes with a squeak. The beast enters the hallway slowly, exhaling loudly.

"Luz? Danielle?" said King, held in the girls arms.

"King!" said Luz, letting King go. "Oh, I'm so glad you're safe."

"Non spaventarmi di nuovo così! Ti prego... non..." said Danielle, holding King close and crying. "Basta non lasciarmi!"

"Danielle… I…" said King, before snuggling into her arms. "I don't know what you just said but I'm fine… I'm here."

"Ti prego... non…" said Danielle, not wanting to let King go before a memory of hers settled in. "Sandy."

"Where did you two go?" asked King, looking at the girls.

"I was checking on Eda, and she was gone, and then you were gone. I also tripped and lost my shoe," said Luz, before noticing her shoe in King's paws. "Oh, hey, you found it."

"I think we may have crossed paths without realizing it," said Danielle, wiping her tears away.

"I… what's that?" said King, noticing a piece of paper on Luz's foot before grabbing it before taking out the piece in his collar. "Keeps the curse at bay. An elixir a day, keeps the curse at bay."

"Curse?" said Danielle, not liking hearing what King said. "What curse?"

"Curse?" said Luz, confused and staring at King while putting her shoe back on. "Wait, what are you trying to say?"

"I was wrong the whole time. That's no Snaggleback. That creature is..." said King, coming to a realization before a clawed hand bursts through the door.

"Eda?" shouted the girls, seeing the shadowy beast burst through the door and reveals itself, recognizing the face.

Turns out the shadowy beast, the girls and King were dealing with was actually Eda in some sort of cursed form. Resembling a large, owl-like monster with black eyes, grayish yellow sharp teeth and gray hair protruding from long, pointed ears. Eda's body is covered in dark teal fur, and she has two dark gray wings and black feet that resemble that of a bird of preys. Raising a claw to strike at the girls and King, the girls scream when Luz's phone drops out of her pocket and flashes in time and startles Eda. Though it wasn't just the flash of the phone but also a light coming from Danielle's extended hand that startled Eda.

"Huh…" thought Danielle, looking from Eda to her hand. "Did I just…?"

Grabbing King and Danielle, Luz pulls them over to the balcony. Eda stalks the room, sniffing for the girls and King. Luz has her hands over her mouth while King has his on his head. Danielle meanwhile is looking at her hand. Eda seems to smell them, growling and sniffing closer to them. Luz grabs a can and throws it. Eda growls at the sound and chases it.

"Oh, man. Did you see her eyes? They were like…" said Luz, pulling her lower eyelids down and snarling. "What happened to her?"

"Don't you see? The elixir I gave you doesn't give Eda powers. It prevents her from turning into that thing," said King, staring at the girls before sitting down. "She's turned into a nightmare and it's all my fault. I'm so sorry, Luz, Danielle. I-I just wanted you two to be into demons like you're into magic. I don't have many friends, and no one even pays that much attention to me. I thought maybe if I taught you, finally someone would care about creatures like me."

"Not every demon out there interests me," said Danielle, bending down and hugging King. "But there are some that I do find interesting, like you."

"Hehehe," said King, Danielle slightly booping him on the nose.

"Well..." said Luz, taking out her pen. "Let's finish the lesson."

"Huh?" said King, staring at Luz.

"Eda's turned into some kind of demon, and we need to save her," said Luz, holding the pen out to King. "So who knows more about demons than the best teacher in the world?"

"You do," said Danielle, rubbing under King's chin before King hugged her and Luz.

"Let's see," said King, drawing on a leaf that he grabbed from a nearby plant. "She was bigger, covered in feathers, and had giant black eyes. Demons with black eyes are usually sensitive to light."

"So… nocturnal?" said Danielle, looking at the picture.

"That's it. Light!" said King, seeing Luz's cellphone in her pocket. "Luz, use your human wonder rectangle."

"I can't," said Luz, showing that her cellphone was broken. "My camera's all blasted."

"Then... what about that light spell?" asked King, looking at the girls.

"Yeah…" said Danielle, lightly scratching her cheek. "I don't know how I did it back there when Luz's phone went off but I highly doubt I can do it again."

"Wait…" said Luz, staring at Danielle. "You did magic?'

"Uh… yes," replied Danielle, staring at Luz. "From the palm of my hand but I don't know how I did it."

"Great…" said Luz, sliding down into a sitting position. "I can't draw circles in the air. I'm not like Eda."

"Don't put yourself down Luz," said Danielle, scooting over to Luz who was looking at the video of Eda drawing a spell circle. "I know you'll figure it out."

"...spell circle is really key..." said the recording of Eda, the phone freezing in place.

"There's a pattern in the spell circle," said Luz, noticing the pattern within the spell circle.

"Wait…" thought Danielle, getting a good look at the pattern. "That looked like the constellation I saw the first night here. But what does that mean?"

"What? Where?" asked King, staring at Luz's cellphone.

"It looks like this," said Luz, placing a leaf over the phone's screen and drawing it. "There."

"Wow," said Danielle, an orb of light appearing over the cellphone after Luz tapped the pattern. "See! You did it!"

"It's beautiful. Oh, my gosh. I just did magic," said Luz, standing triumphantly. "I just did magic! I just did magic!"

"Okay," said Danielle, pulling Luz back down when hearing Eda screeching somewhere nearby. "Now how to utilize it."

"Shh! We're not going to stop anything with something that small," said King, staring at Luz. "What do we do now?"

"I think I know how to get Eda back," said Luz, offering a fist bump to Danielle and King. "Will you help me, boo-boo buddy, Danielle?"

"I'm kind of over that nickname," said King, before fist bumping alongside Danielle. "But okay."

Going to their shared room, Luz grabs a red crayon before meeting up back with Danielle and King who had just moved a tapestry off a wall in a hallway. Luz gives King her pen knowing that King was the nimblest of the three. While Luz and Danielle started drawing the pattern shown in the spell circle on the wall, King slowly walks towards the living room where the beast like Eda was.

"Oh, what lovely thing do we have here?" said King, gaining Beast Eda's attention being clicking the pen. "It's just so dang shiny. Oh, my. Oh, dear."

Beast Eda stares at the glowing pen, cooing at it before jumping towards King to claim it. Dodging out of the way, King runs down the hallway, straight to where the girls were. Beast Eda ends up sliding on some papers and books and crashes into a wall. Luz and Danielle toss the tapestry over Beast Eda before finishing drawing the pattern on the wall.

"I'm sorry, Eda," said Luz, staring down at Eda before seeing Danielle finish the pattern. "But it's for your own good."

"Hit it!" shouted Danielle, slamming her hand down on the pattern alongside Luz.

The pattern on the wall lights up the whole hallway, blinding Beast Eda. Passing out, Beast Eda slowly turns back to being the normal Eda in front of the girls and King's eyes. Staring and nodding at each other, Luz and Danielle pick up Eda and take her straight to her room and into her nest. King ends up finding an extra elixir and places an extremely long straw in it and places it in Eda's mouth. Not long later, Eda slowly wakes up.

"Ahh!" shouted Eda, feeling herself still partially transformed and sips the elixir. "W-What happened? Oh, I have the worst headache. And my mouth tastes like roadkill."

"I'm just gonna... lie here for a minute.," said Snaggleback, being regurgitated from Eda's mouth.

"Hmm?" said Eda, grabbing the elixir. "I was looking for that."

"Actually, we found an extra one in your closet," said King, walking over to Eda.

"King? King!" shouted Eda, pointing at King. "You stole my elixir? I ought to break every bone in your…"

"Shh!" said King, whispering and pointing towards the girls. "Over there."

"Wow," said Eda, watching the girls create orbs of light. "How are they doing that?"

"I don't know, but they did it all on their own," said King, before staring at Eda. "Hey, I, uh, kind of messed a bunch of things up back there. And I just wanted to say I'm sorry."

"Well, you better be. I got a long list of disgusting chores with your name on it. But it's not entirely your fault," said Eda, the girls walking over with Danielle cupping one of the light orbs in her hand and showing Eda with a smile on her face. "I haven't been completely honest with you guys. When I was younger, I was cursed. I don't know exactly how it happened, all I know is that if I don't take my elixir... Well, that's why people call me the Owl Lady. No one likes having a curse, but if you take the right steps, it's manageable."

"Whoa," said Luz, putting her hands in her pockets. "So are you okay?"

"Is there a way to get rid of it?" asked Danielle, staring at Eda.

"There's nothing for you to worry about. It's all under control, and as long as no one steals my elixir…" said Eda, before pointing at King. "King… then I'm fine. But, hey, look at this. Humans doing magic. Good on you, kids."

"I had some encouragement from a great teacher and a good friend," said Luz, staring at Danielle and King.

"Oh, you," said King, blushing.

"Friend?" thought Danielle, staring away from everyone. "Can I even make friends here? Can I even have friends? I had a hard enough time making any friends back home."

"Danielle…" said Luz, gaining Danielle's attention. "Everything okay?"

"Oh, I'm fine," said Danielle, before thinking. "One baby step at a time."

"Hey, hey! Is anyone there? Hello?" shouted Hooty, finally regaining consciousness after all this time. "Hoot? I'm on the floor. It's cold!"

"That voice," said King, walking towards the bedroom doors. "That horrific voice!"

"We'll take care of him. You stay in bed," said Luz, before picking up Snaggleback. "Come on, you goopy fella. We'll set you free now."

"Ow, ow, ow," said Snaggleback, wincing in pain. "I think my tail was digested."

Watching the girls and King leave the room, Eda lays down in her nest, it didn't take long for Eda to fall asleep and dream. A dream she has been seeing since she was young.

"No, not this memory again," said Eda, seeing a door open up in front with someone's silhouette there. "You! You're the one who cursed me, aren't you? Who are you? Who are you?"

While Eda was dreaming, the girls and King were downstairs tending to Hooty. Well, the girls were. King was showing Snaggleback his books.

"Welcome to the boo-boo buddy club, Hooty," said Luz, placing bandages on the claw marks.

"Feeling better?" asked Danielle, rubbing over the bandages.

"Finally, I get to be a part of something," said Hooty, enjoying the petting Danielle was giving him. "Hooohooo."

"And then she had teeth in her stomach," said Snaggleback, giving descriptions off Beast Eda to King, who was drawing said descriptions. "Teeth in her stomach! Can you believe that?"

"Oh, yeah," said King, showing his drawing. "This will make a great addition to my demon book."

"That book is filled with so many interesting things," said Snaggleback, grabbing a book. "Like this. I'm one of the strongest demons on the Boiling Isles, huh?"

"Yeah, I'm gonna have to edit that," said King, staring at the book.

"Oh," said Snaggleback, disappointed.
