Chapter Fifteen
Brand new day has come. After the disaster of flight lessons yesterday, Eda thought it best to discuss a certain something with Danielle. Spotting Luz and King heading down, they begin their trek downstairs. The moment they were halfway down the steps to the first floor, humming was heard from the kitchen. Slowly walking, they peek into the kitchen, seeing it was Danielle. Not only was she cooking like usual since she got here but she was able to cook while humming. They could even see Hooty peeking from the outside window. It didn't take long until Danielle started to sing actual lyrics to whatever song she was humming.

Hooty starts to wiggle around outside to the tune. Eda, Luz, and King stay peeking as Danielle taps her foot to the beat as she finishes what looks to be an omelette.

Hooty is no longer hiding and is in plain view of Eda, Luz and King and dancing around outside the window. Danielle stuffs the omelette with the center ingredients before flipping it then plating it not long after. Setting up another omelette, Danielle prepares what looks to be a fourth one.

Eda, Luz and King slowly come out of hiding, just standing there watching Danielle enjoy herself. Even they're pulled in and start tapping their foot. Even silently clapping and Danielle doesn't even notice them at all.

Finally plating the last omelette, Danielle notices Hooty out the kitchen window. Seeing that he was caught, Hooty smiles before entering through the kitchen door. This ends up alerting Danielle to the others being present.
"How-how long have you been there?" asked Danielle, blushing up a storm.
"Quite a while," said Eda, smirking. "That sounded a lot different from what we normally hear from you."
"Yeah," said Danielle, placing the frying pan on the stove. "That was Japanese. How much did you hear?"
"The whole thing," replied King, climbing up into his chair. "Ooh, this looks tantalizing."
"All of them are omurice," said Danielle, pulling a certain plate towards King. "This one is bacon and cheese since I know you like cheesy foods."
"Yes!" said King, raising his arms up.
"I didn't know you could make omurice," said Luz, staring at the omurice. "Did you make three different kinds?"
"Yup," replied Danielle, smiling while pushing one towards Luz and another towards Hooty. "I thought you and Hooty would like this one. It's got a sweet white cream and shrimp filling."
"Looks delicious," said Hooty, drooling at the sight of the omurice.
"Eda's and yours are the same yet one doesn't have the…" said Luz, staring between the two. "I think ketchup."
"I'm not a big fan of ketchup on eggs," said Danielle, giving Eda her plate. "Ours has thinly chopped meat and onions. I hope everyone likes."
"Oh," said Eda, lifting her fork and cutting a piece of the omurice off. "We will."
Enjoying every bit of the omurice, everyone sighs in delight. Even Hooty is taking his time enjoying his and not scarfing it down in one go. After finishing with breakfast, Eda stretches before looking at Danielle.
"I have something to talk about with you," said Eda, leaning her elbow on the table.
"This isn't about the flight lesson yesterday," asked Danielle, about to do the dishes. "Is it?"
"I'll do the dishes this morning," said Luz, grabbing the plates and utensils. "This is something we all agreed upon."
"I'm not in trouble," said Danielle, nervously staring at Eda. "Am I?"
"What, no," replied Eda, standing up. "We thought it would be best if you had your own room."
"But wouldn't it be better if me and Luz bunked together?" asked Danielle, staring at Eda. "I have no problem sharing a room. I use to share one with my twin at the beginning then my big sister for a bit at the new house."
"And they never complained," said Eda, quirking an eyebrow.
"About what?" asked Danielle, wondering what Eda was talking about.
"You sleep cuddle," said King, remembering all those nights.
"I… sleep cuddle?" said Danielle, embarrassed and confused. "That's never happened to me before. Even when I slept over at Nonna's and me and my sister slept in the same bed. Granted, we were young. Are you sure?"
"Oh yeah," said Luz, cleaning the dishes. "We may have put you in Eda's nest a few times."
"That explains why I woke up in her nest those days," said Danielle, eyeing and seeing Luz slightly chuckle.
"Follow me," said Eda, gesturing Danielle to follow her.
Walking on up to the second floor, Eda leads Danielle to a room across from the one she shared with Luz. Peering inside, Danielle sees that it was pretty much the same size. Two old armoires were situated near the door but had no doors to it. A chest lay on its side opened, a sparkly object covered with a maroon sheet peeking out. Various other small things litter the room.
"Wow," said Danielle, staring at the room. "You sure about this. I'll be cleaning the heck out of this room."
"I'm going to let it slide this time," said Eda, pointing at Danielle's bag. "Whatever you can take out of your bag for this room for today. Sleeping cocoon, blanket, pillows. Whatever to make it feel homey."
"Grazie Eda," said Danielle, pulling Eda into a hug before staring at one of the armoires. "Think we could place one of these armoires in Luz's room then after I clean it."
"I don't see why not," said Eda, before walking away. "Have fun."
"Oh, I will," said Danielle, staring at the room.
Putting her bag down, Danielle slowly starts to tidy up the room. First off was opening the window to let fresh air in then dusting the walls off. Looking around the room, Danielle slowly moves the armoires to the hallway. Luz had finished the dishes by then and saw Danielle moving the furniture out of the room before deciding to help move the armoires out in the hallway. Thanking Luz, Danielle goes back to the room and picks up the chest and takes it also out to the hallway. Seeing the sparkly object still wrapped in the maroon sheet, Danielle pulls the sheet to the side to see what the sparkly object was. Turns out, it was a big translucent like crystal with energy swirling around in it.
"Wow," said Danielle, picking the crystal up. "The wonders of this world."
Grabbing the sheet, Danielle heads towards the door. Unfortunately, Danielle didn't notice the crystal slowly disappearing in her arms and the energy whirling around her. Putting the sheet back in the chest, Danielle was about to put the crystal in only to notice it was no longer in her arms.
"What the…?" said Danielle, looking around for the crystal. "I know I had it in my arms. Where'd it go?"
"Need any help?" asked Hooty, peering in through the window.
"Yes," replied Danielle, staring at Hooty. "I just had a big crystal in my arms and it suddenly disappeared. Have you seen it?"
"Mmmm, nope," replied Hooty, coming into the room. "Anything else?"
"Gee, I wonder where it went," sad Danielle, before grabbing a couple of those stars in her bag before disappearing and leaving some cleaning supplies. "Would you like to help clean?"
"Sure," replied Hooty, grabbing a rag with his beak. "After such a meal, I'll gladly help."
Grabbing the stuff needed for the first task, Danielle and Hooty start wiping down the walls. The scent of the ivory liquid soap and water mix wafts throughout the room as they clean one wall to the next. Staring up at the ceiling, Danielle wonders how she'll clean up there. Hooty ends up having an idea and scoops Danielle onto his back. Liking the idea, Danielle slowly cleans the ceiling as Hooty moves to different sectors. There were a couple times that Danielle felt like she was gonna fall but Hooty shifted in a way so she wouldn't. After walls and ceiling were done, the hardwood floors were next plus the window area. Grabbing the sweet almond wood polish, Danielle starts on the beams and trims before dealing with the floors. Danielle was glad she had opened the window when she did, the scent of the wood polish was making her slightly dizzy by the time she got to the doorway.
"Oomph, how bout a break Hooty," said Danielle, wiping her forehead with the back of her arm. "The fumes are getting to me."
"Okay," said Hooty, dropping the rag and about to go out the window. "Oh dizzy."
"Let's get a little lunch," said Danielle, stretching her arms above her. "It should be nearing that time and I already had some sandwiches made ahead of time."
"Awesome," said Hooty, racing out the window before slamming into something on the way out. "Ow! I'm okay, the plant… not so much."
Heading towards the kitchen, Danielle takes the sandwiches out of the fridge. Handing one to Hooty, they take their time eating. Luz had taken a break around this time as well and had joined them alongside King and Eda. The sandwich was a simple BLT sandwich. By the time, everyone was done with lunch, Danielle and Hooty went back upstairs while Luz practiced more with the light glyph with King by her side. Seeing the armoires and chest in the hallway, Danielle grabs the wood polish again and cleans them up. Hooty assisted her with putting one of the armoires in Luz's room and the other back in her room in the same area where it was found. Placing the chest back near the side of the window, Danielle grabs the maroon sheet inside and drapes it over the chest like a throw blanket. Whatever little things Eda had on the beams were wiped down and placed back where they were.
"Okay," said Danielle, looking around the room. "Everything wiped and cleaned."
"Now what?" asked Hooty, looking at what now was the cleanest room in the house.
"I start decorating," said Danielle, bending down and fishing around her bag for any star she grasped. "Let's hope it's a sleeping bag first."
Grabbing a few stars, they disappear and leave behind bedding. But it wasn't what Danielle thought. It wasn't a sleeping bag but a thick starry blue futon with matching white comforter and eight matching pillowcases with pillows.
"Hahahaha," said Danielle, staring at what will be her bed. "I love it. I did not think I'd get such a thing but I love it. Maybe Luz would want one."
"Want one what?" asked Luz, peeking around the corner of the door and seeing the bedding on the floor. "Whoahoho! I'd so love one."
"Let's see," said Danielle, grabbing a star and it leaving behind a thick bohemian futon. "How's this one?"
"Love it," said Luz, grabbing the futon and looking at it before heading back to her room. "Thanks Danielle. Just gonna place it. I want to see what else you pull out of your bag."
"Okay, maybe I can find some pillows and a blanket for you," said Danielle, grabbing her futon. "I also want to apologize for the first week. I didn't know you were lactose intolerance."
"It's okay," said Luz, talking from her room.
"No, it's not. I should have asked first if anyone was allergic to anything," thought Danielle, gripping her futon. "I should make sure with Aster as well. I don't want him having an allergic reaction when I make those cupcakes I promised."
Not wanting to place it under the window, Danielle places her futon near the wall but with some space to add anything in that sector. Next was situating the eight pillows after putting the pillowcases on. A simple toss of the comforter was all that was needed for the finishing touch. Looking at her handiwork, Danielle nods in approval before seeing if she can find a blanket and pillows for Luz.
"Wow, that's a lot of pillows," said Luz, reentering the room.
"Sorry Luz, the bag won't give me anything more for your bed," said Danielle, staring at her bag in disappointment. "Stubborn bag."
"That's okay," said Luz, sitting down next to Danielle. "The futon is enough."
"You sure?" asked Danielle, staring at Luz. "I can try harder and find the matching comforter and pillows. Though from looking at the futons, I'd say they're full size."
"Nah," replied Luz, before staring at the pillows. "Why'd it give you so many pillows?"
"It's two more than what I have back home," said Danielle, eyeing the pillows. "I may have had a certain health issue back home that required me to have a lift."
"Is it sleep apnea?" asked Luz, staring at Danielle. "My Aunt Rita has it. She has to have a cpap. She found a really good wedge pillow that has helped her out."
"Camila's older sister is a pistol," said Manny, appearing in the room. "So are the triplets."
"Hehehe… Zio Enrico has sleep apnea as well," said Danielle, fiddling with the bag strap. "He doesn't have this wedge pillow you mentioned but he does have a cpap as well."
"Okay," said Luz, wanting to change the subject. "What else are we pulling out today?"
"Let's see," said Danielle, grabbing a star and it leaving a certain toy in her arms. "Lakota! Oooooh, I can't believe you're here."
"Lakota?" said Luz, staring at the red-tailed fox plush Danielle was hugging.
"I've had him since my first school field trip to the zoo," said Danielle, holding the toy up. "He's irreplaceable."
"Toy!" shouted King, spotting Lakota. "New minion!"
"Sorry King," said Danielle, pulling Lakota towards her when King jumped for it. "He's really precious to me. I can find you something else."
"Okay," said King, seeing Danielle place Lakota on her new bed.
Searching around for any new star, Danielle grabs a few more. More toys are revealed. A couple long cats, mushroom shaped animals, what looked to be a bobba beverage, and some other stuff.
"Which one do you want King?" asked Danielle, letting him have first choice.
"Mmmm, let's see. Which one of you wants to be my new minion?" asked King, seeing a toy flop close to his feet. "Good choice. I shall call you Bastion."
"Wow, this long cat is adorable," said Luz, hugging the one she picked up.
"You can have it," said Danielle, hugging one herself. "So soft."
"¡Gracias!" said Luz, before spotting something sparkly and picking it up. "Looks like you got yourself a set of windchimes."
"I'll hang it," said Hooty, popping in and hanging it in the window area before playing with it. "So shiny, so pretty."
"This looks like the hylian shield from the Zelda games I play," said Danielle, grabbing a certain plush.
"You mean lorulean from the Hilda games," said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"Huh…?" said Danielle, staring back at Luz.
"The Hilda series," said Luz, staring at Danielle. "I have a few of those games."
"That's odd," thought Danielle, looking at the floor before shaking her head and reaching into her bag grabbing more stars. "Since Eda gave the go ahead with my bag, I'm grabbing some certain things."
"Wow, that's a lot of…" said Luz, seeing a variety of shampoos and bath soaps. "Whoa, this one's strong. Why grab these?"
"So Eda doesn't have to worry about spending too much money on me," said Danielle, placing the bath products in the armoire, a thought running through her mind. "I don't want to be such a burden."
"Danielle," said Luz, seeing Danielle slump a little. "You, okay?"
"Sto bene," replied Danielle, before grabbing one more star out of the bag. "Red zora prince. He's perfect. And a grim rabite. These plushies are awesome."
"How bout I cook tonight?" said Luz, standing before heading to the door. "How are you with 'sghetti?"
"Please don't call it that," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "And I'm good with pasta. Wouldn't be a good Italian if I wasn't."
"Uh, Danielle, you may want to rethink that," said Manny, seeing his daughter leave the room. "She's got the Noceda's insane spicy streak."
"Luz, hold up," shouted Danielle, running after Luz.
After catching up and making sure Luz didn't over spice the pasta, everyone enjoyed dinner. Well somewhat, Luz had secretly added a little more spice when Danielle wasn't looking. After almost everyone showered, Danielle went to her new room. Creating some lavender scented balls of lights she dubbed fairy lights for the night, Danielle grabs Lakota.
"You okay there?" asked Manny, staring at Danielle.
"Sto bene," said Danielle, rubbing the charms on her necklace. "I just really miss my Mamma and the rest of my family. I've never been separated this long without them. I hope everyone's okay."
"I bet they're fine," said Manny, already had seen her family before meeting her that day. "Want to hear a story how I met my wife? Luz already knows it."
"You sure?" asked Danielle, staring up at Manny.
"Positive," said Manny, floating in place. "It was back in college that we met. I was on the swimming team and had just gotten out of the pool. Camila introduced herself but since I had a little water in my ear, I mistook her name for Camellia. By our first date, I had a bouquet of camellias for her and said a flower for a flower Camellia. She was tickled pink that I thought her name was the flower but she ended up correcting me not too long later. Since then, camellia flowers have been her favorite and I would get them for her birthday and our anniversary."
"That's sweet," said Danielle, liking the story.
Standing up, Danielle grabs Lakota and heads towards Luz's room. Knocking on the doorframe, Luz peeks up from her Azura book and spots Danielle. Wondering what Danielle wanted, Luz sits upright.
"Just one more night," said Danielle, staring at Luz while gripping Lakota. "Please."
"Okay," said Luz, patting the floor.
"Grazie," said Danielle, grabbing the blanket she used before leaving it in the room for Luz should she ever need it. "Buona notte."
"¡Buenas noches!" said Luz, putting her book up for the night and falling asleep.
"Sweet dreams you two," said Manny, watching over his daughter and Danielle as they sleep." Both your journeys have barely begun."
