Impatience
A/N: Who has patience and who lacks restraint?
"…Are you ready?" Cress asked Shinji as they stood on the stadium battlefield after accepting Shinji's request for a gym match.
"We're ready," Shinji responded, deciding on which two Pokémon he'd use for the match.
"Begin!" Chili declared, and the match began.
"Come on out, Panpour!" Cress called out, throwing his Poké Ball onto the field.
From out the ball came…some sort of tiny, bluish monkey-like creature.
"Who's that Pokémon?" Shinji wondered, taking out his Pokédex to identify it.
"Panpour, the Spray Pokémon," it revealed. "Many generations ago, Panpour used to dwell in forest areas before adapting to live near bodies of water. Panpour are able to store a limited amount of water in the tufts on their heads."
"A Water-Type, too," he discovered. "Okay, let's work for our first badge. Come on out, Uta!"
He threw his own Poké Ball and out came the Audino he caught two days ago.
"Aud," Uta went, looking at Panpour.
"An Audino?" Cress went. "This make the twenty-third time I've faced a trainer that has one. Panpour, use Double Team!"
Panpour then moved around so fast on the field that it made copies of itself that were all over the place, causing Uta to look left and right, getting confused.
"Stay calm, Uta," Shinji told her. "Use Disarming Voice!"
Uta obeyed and unleashed her Disarming Voice. It covered the entire field, and caused Panpour's Double Team to cease, revealing it on the far left, covering its ears.
"Pan!" Panpour cried.
"Okay, now use Pound!" Shinji told her, and she charged towards the Water-Type Pokémon, knocking it backwards onto the ground.

"…Incredible," went Misato, looking at Shinji facing in his first Unova Region gym match with this new Pokémon that he had acquired. "Did he really go and catch this Pokémon two days ago?"
"Yeah," Antonio answered. "This is his first Unova Pokémon. The only other Pokémon he has on him are his Eevee, Gyarados and Charizard."
On the screen, they saw Shinji's Audino send the gym leader's Panpour flying backwards on the rocky terrain, eventually falling out of bounds (as far as any of them knew in most matches, falling out of bounds wasn't against any rules), but the Panpour didn't get back up.
"Looks like Shinji is a shoo-in for his first badge of the Unova League," Antonio suspected.
"Looks like it," Misato half-agreed, "but only time will tell."
"Okay, you might've bested my brother," they heard the red-haired man say to Shinji, "but I doubt you'll be a match for me."

With Cress' Panpour defeated, it was now Chili's turn to face Shinji, meaning he couldn't continue with Audino. But Shinji was okay with that; he already knew which Pokémon he was going to use for his second match.
"Are you ready, Misato?" He asked his Eevee.
"Eevo," she responded, and ran out onto the field as Chili unleashed his Pokémon, which resembled Panpour, but was mostly red. "Eee?"
"Sear!" It went, trying to be intimidating.
"Okay," Shinji went, taking his Pokédex and looking up this new Pokémon.
"Pansear, the High Temp Pokémon," it identified for him. "When enraged, the tuft on its head can reach temperatures up to six-hundred degrees. Pansear are frequently found in caves near active volcanos."
"Be careful, Misato. Pansear likely has some impressive Fire-Type attacks," Shinji warned.
"Eee," she responded.
"Begin!" Cress declared, and the second match began.

"…Their scores haven't risen since yesterday, Dr. Akagi," Maya informed Ritsuko as they monitored the children within the testing plugs.
"No, they haven't," she agreed with her.
In all honesty, everyone's focus was not on the test and more on the place they needed to be in a coma and near a creature not associated to this universe in order to traverse to for a sojourn with one of their own who was currently there. But the children had to wait another day until their bodies recovered from the last medically-induced coma they were in; the adults, being older and further developed, could go back any time they chose to within the children's three-day limit, but Misato, simply because she didn't want to cheat them out of seeing Shinji more and longer, even though she could've, waited for them to recover.
"Fifty yen says Shinji has already gotten a badge from one of these Unova League gyms," Ritsuko told Maya.
"Make it sixty and you got a bet," she responded.
"Suspend the test. We gotta get outta here."
"You kids hit the showers and head on to the facility. We're all bored."
"Yes, ma'am," the children all responded.

He could've had Rei replaced, reduced back to a version that didn't have any affection for his son or care about his universal displacement, but then there'd be questions that he'd be unable to answer without bringing up suspicion. This left Gendo fuming over how his son had taken away his control of the situation without any effort thrown in. The brat could've spent his time looking for these rare Pokémon that he needed to get back to this universe, but chose not to waste his time looking for creatures that he'll find at a later time, if he ever did find them, which could be months or years, and he's already been there for over four years! He must've had over a thousand of these creatures, all mediocre and could be found anywhere within the region he traveled around, and he spent his time looking for ones he either hadn't caught or had to catch because something was off with their behavior towards others.
And now the social media is talking about him as a Pokémon Trainer, a…a Pokémon League Champion, and a… He has creatures that not many people possess and he treats them with kindness and love, not like weapons of power.
And as Gendo checked the number of social media accounts, he found that there must've been as many people as the posts on the videos of his battles and contests.
"Aaaurgh!" He grunted, reading a social media post by someone calling herself "SpecialLady1999" on how she wished Shinji's eventual return to this universe enabled Pokémon to enter the world so that her children could each have one of the smaller ones like Growlithe or Horsea or even Phanpy or Pichu. "Stupid boy!"

"…Sear…" Chili's Pansear panted, unable to overcome Misato's Swift or Take Down attacks, and fell to the ground, defeated.
Misato, throughout the battle, had gotten separated from her scarf for the umpteenth time, but still managed to come out on top again.
"Wow," went Shinji, impressed by how his Eevee had gotten stronger since they won the Sinnoh League. "Misato's improved further since the Sinnoh League."
"Looks like you won, Shinji Ikari," Cress expressed. "Congratulations."
"Thank you," Shinji responded, bowing to the Gym Leaders.
"Eee," went Misato as she came over with her scarf in her mouth.
Shinji lowered to his knees to redress her with it, but then noticed that it had a few scorch marks. He was then reminded that, among the other few things he had purchased over time to individuate his Pokémon, he hadn't replaced or gotten his Eevee a new scarf.
"We should go to a Poké Mart after this, Misato," he told her, and then tied the scarf around her neck like always. "I really need to get you a new scarf."
"Eevo!"

"…I can't believe you got sixty yen," went Misato to Ritsuko as she, the children and the Bridge Bunnies showed up at the facility.
"You have no idea how much it costs to get the dye I need to bleach my hair," Ritsuko defended. "Plus, we needed to get out of the Geo-Front. Commander Ikari is starting to show signs that he's not safe to be around, whether it's testing the children or just gathering research on the Evas. I think he's looked into the social media on Shinji."
"That has been on fire lately since the broadcast of him winning the Sinnoh League," said Antonio to them, and noticed the Bridge Bunnies. "Heh-heh…we're going to need more intravenous fluids if they're people Shinji knows a bit."
"Remember the Butterfree, Beedrill and Parasect Shinji used to defeat the Psychic Pokémon Gym Leader Sabrina?" Misato reminded him. "Meet Maya Ibuki, Makoto Hyuga and Aoba Shigeru, the people behind their nicknames."
"I swear, you people make me love doing my job on this project. Welcome."

The Poké Mart of Striaton City had a large variety of items to choose from, but they were out of stock on green and purple scarfs like the one Shinji got for Misato; apparently, ever since word of a kid with an Eevee had been going around and facing other trainers and winning a Pokémon League, scarfs had been a highly-sought after item.
"The cost of fame, huh, Misato?" Shinji asked his Eevee, disappointed that he couldn't buy her a new scarf just yet. "I'm sorry."
"Eevo," Misato responded; she understood why he wanted to buy her a new scarf, but was okay with wearing the one she had worn for over four years now.
"Guess who?" They both heard someone by him, a female from the sound of their voice. "And no peeking, Shinji Ikari."
"Well, I know it's not Misato Katsuragi, Asuka Langley Soryu or Rei Ayanami," he responded, "and it's certainly not Hikari Horaki or Dr. Akagi. Is it…Ms. Ibuki?"
"You guessed it," the person answered, and Shinji looked around to see Misato, Ritsuko and the Bridge Bunnies that were here for the first time. "It's good to see you, Shinji."
"It's good to see y'all, too."

I cannot believe they came here again, thought Gendo as he stood outside the facility housing Palkia again, this time wielding a large piece of pipe in his hands in the dead of night. I'm gonna shatter their project so that they never see him again!
To be continued…
A/N: Uh-oh. Gendo's gone off the deep end with his thoughts and beliefs on what should and shouldn't be allowed, and his fury over his son's popularity has unleashed his deep-seated resentment towards him. Bad, bad, bad.
