Chapter Thirty
The morning after Grom, Eda, Luz and King thought it best to talk with Danielle. Luz was able to tell the others through Eda's penstagram as much as she knew about Down Syndrome to them. After having breakfast, Eda ushered everyone to the living room before signaling Willow, Amity, Gus, and apparently Principal Bump into the kitchen to hide and just listen.
"Okay Danielle," said Eda, sitting on the couch. "We need to talk."
"Uh… I-I-I understand…" said Danielle, looking uneasy and rubbing her arm. "I'll go pack my stuff. Luz, you can keep the stuff I gave you, it's practically yours now."
"Wait, what?" said Luz, jumping in front of Danielle.
"What makes you think I'm telling you to leave?" asked Eda, staring at Danielle.
"Isn't this what you wanted to talk about," replied Danielle, looking at Eda. "Kicking me out."
"Not happening," thought Aster, standing on Danielle's shoulder and glaring at Eda.
"What? No, I'm not kicking you out," said Eda, hands on her hips and looking at Danielle.
"Then rent," said Danielle, before pointing up towards her room above them. "I can go get the money. H-How much?"
"I'm not kicking you out or asking for rent," said Eda, putting her hand on Danielle's shoulder. "With the stuff you do around the house, I think that's enough rent for months especially you're cooking."
"Then, what's this about?" asked Danielle, sitting on a chair.
"We wanted to talk about last night," replied Luz, only to see Danielle pull her legs in and look uneasy. "Ooo boy, this is going to be hard."
"I-I-I-I-I don't want to talk about it," said Danielle, about to get up before seeing Eda put a barrier around the whole room. "O-okay… looks like I'm not leaving."
"We just want to help and understand you," said Eda, looking at Danielle.
"You're not my Mamma," said Danielle, sitting back down and pulling her legs in.
"What?" said Eda, staring at Danielle.
"You're not my Mamma," said Danielle, repeating herself and looking at Eda. "I can vent to her about these things but to others I can't."
"Then we'll take it slow," said Luz, sitting on the couch with Eda. "Creamy or crunchy."
"Huh?" said Danielle, confused and staring at Luz.
"Peanut butter. Which is your favorite?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle and crossing her feet up on the couch. "Creamy or crunchy."
"Pfft," said Danielle, slightly smiling and pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Extra crunchy actually."
"Okay, that's a start," said Luz, rocking back and forth on the couch. "Favorite cereal."
"Mmm," said Danielle, shifting her legs to Indian style. "Lucky charms though if I could just eat the marshmallows and leave the rest, I'd do it though I probably get an earful from it since Nicole likes it just as much."
"Favorite pizza topping," said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"Not pineapple," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Still can't believe you got King to like it."
"Yum," said King, rubbing his tummy.
"Okay… um… rather cheese, extra cheese, or pepperoni," said Danielle, licking her lips. "I like to put cheese fries on my pizza. Not the cheese that hardens after a few minutes but the gooey messy kind."
"I'd have to try it sometime," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Favorite movie theater snack."
"Popcorn with salt and extra butter and a box of snowcaps," replied Danielle, humming in thought. "Though I'd sooner go to the dollar store a few stores down and pay less for the snowcaps and sneak them into the movie theater."
"You actually do that," said Luz, smiling wide and hearing Eda laugh. "I thought me and my parents were the only ones to do that."
"Looks like there's a little bad girl in you," said Eda, wiping a tear away.
"Mamma just wanted to save some money," said Danielle, leaning to the side. "I mean who would want to pay that much for candy when you can get it cheaper someplace else and sneak it in."
"Now you're talking," said Luz, pointing at Danielle in excitement.
"Okay, now we've got you talking somewhat," said Eda, staring at Danielle. "Let's tackle something slightly bigger. It's not that hard. Who are you?"
"That's easy. I'm Danielle… Danielle McIlreavy," said Danielle, pausing then taking a deep breathe. "A 27-year-old human adult."
"Wait, what?" said everyone, staring at Danielle.
"Remember when I said that day, I think the way we came here were vastly different," said Danielle, seeing everyone nod yes. "Well, I don't know how I got here. The moment I saw myself in that mirror over there, I knew something wasn't right."
"How so?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Minus the fact that I de-aged back to my teen years," replied Danielle, staring at the floor. "This isn't my actual body. Does this world have some unique summoning where it places you in a different body?"
"No, it doesn't," replied Eda, before rubbing her chin. "Though who knows if something from the ancient past hasn't acted up and brought you here. Not everything in our world has been discovered."
"This world doesn't have such summoning," thought Aster, staring at Danielle. "It has the portal doors and times when titan's blood would cause leaks between here and earth. But not summoning. Somethings not right here."
"That would explain why you're more mature," said Eda, looking at Danielle.
"Just because I act more mature doesn't mean anything," said Danielle, pulling her legs in. "I still have my moments. Look if I don't answer, please don't push it or force it."
"Okay," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Hmmm, oh, remember when you started doing your room. You said you had a health issue."
"That's not that hard to answer. At the age you see me now, I had my tonsils taken out," said Danielle, rubbing her ankle. "A few months later, I gained a chronic cough that has stayed with me for years."
"A chronic cough," said Eda, eyeing Danielle. "Couldn't the doctors figure it out?"
"No, I've been to so many doctors and placed on so many meds that never worked," replied Danielle, looking at the floor. "If anything, the meds just made me really tired or I had a reaction to it."
"Could it have been asthma?" asked Luz, staring at Danielle.
"The docs thought it and tried inhalers and such but no" replied Danielle, rubbing her ankles. "The chronic cough really ruined me. I had to stop playing soccer because of it. I couldn't really get a job; I mean who would want an employee that constantly coughed or the customers constantly having to hear it. It would get so bad that I couldn't breathe."
"That doesn't sound good," said King, looking at Danielle.
"What about allergies?" asked Aster, looking at Danielle.
"Lit up like a Christmas tree," replied Danielle, sighing and seeing Eda, Luz, and King stare at her. "Aster asked about allergies."
"Oh," said everyone, staring at Danielle and Aster.
"I wasn't gonna let my allergies stop me. They were pretty mild to a lot of stuff outdoors," said Danielle, rubbing her ankles. "And I wasn't gonna get rid of my fursisters."
"Fursisters?" said King, tilting his head in confusion.
"You got pets," said Luz, excited. "What kind? How many?"
"Two, one golden retriever and one calico cat," replied Danielle, looking at Luz. "They weren't just the family pet, they were my sisters as well, hence fursisters."
"Aw, that's sweet," said Luz, gushing over that fact before seeing Danielle get sad. "Is everything okay?"
"Our first golden retriever found our cat," said Danielle, pulling her legs close. "She's no longer with us."
"Oh," said Luz, knowing where Danielle was coming from.
"Where'd she go?" asked Aster, looking at Danielle. "Did she run away?"
"She died a long time ago and it still hurts whenever I think of her," said Danielle, tearing up a bit. "She had a fast-moving cancer and she wasn't getting any better. Mamma and Dad decided it was best to put her down so she wouldn't suffer anymore."
"I don't understand. What's this dying?" asked Aster, looking at Danielle and wiping a tear away. "I've heard you guys mention it and death quite a few times. And why is water magic coming out of your eyes like when Rune does it?"
"This isn't water magic. They're called tears and result when crying due to your emotions getting the better of you," replied Danielle, wiping her eyes. "As for the death and dying part, can that be a lesson for another day?"
"Okay," replied Aster, wiping another tear away. "Today's all you anyway."
"Thanks," said Danielle, rubbing Aster's head.
"I guess you didn't take it that well," said Eda, looking at Danielle.
"No, I didn't," said Danielle, looking at everyone. "Neither did Ginger. I actually ran out my house a few times and cried behind the garage. Mamma would come out and comfort me."
"So, your second dog was also a golden retriever," asked Luz, staring at Danielle.
"We fell in love with the breed," said Danielle, sighing and getting her breathing in check. "Sandy was our first golden and she was a pretty red much like an Irish setter. Sadie, our second golden is lighter, more golden in color. I swear, they're breeding the gold out of the golden retriever."
"How's she doing?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"She's still kicking but she is getting up there in age," replied Danielle, looking at Luz. "She has a little running spree she still does by running around in the house, jump on the couch and there have been a few times that it looked like the couch would topple over, and then run into Mamma's and Dad's room and jump on the bed. It was actually pretty funny to watch Actually, my fursisters allow me to vent to them since… well, not like they can talk to other humans like they can with me."
"I bet," said Luz, leaning back some. "And your cat?"
"A pretty calico, Ginger Rose was mostly white with various splotches of black and orange over her back to the top of her head. One ear was orange and the other black. The two colors swirled on her forehead and there was a single white line in the middle of it," said Danielle, thinking of her cat. "She had heterochromia where her left eye was green and her right blue. I'm just glad Dad didn't get rid of her when she was found."
"Your dad not a cat lover," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Exactly, Dad got rid of our first cat when we were still babies," said Danielle, sighing. "It would constantly scratch at him whenever Dad got near me and had scratched Nicole as well on occasions. So, one day, when no one was around, Dad had put the cat in his truck and drove off and left it on the curb somewhere. Mamma found it one day and gave it a proper burial after finding it was run over."
"Oh, that was wrong," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Okay, let's go to a different subject," said Eda, gearing to another subject. "Carlos…"
"Uh-uh…" said Danielle, pulling her legs in and leaning back. "Heeee… heeee… oh gosh…"
"Okay, we'll pass this one," said Eda, trying to think of another.
"No-no, I can…" said Danielle, taking deep breaths. "Carlos has bullied and teased me since kindergarten alongside some others that tagged along with him."
"Didn't the school do anything?" asked Luz, staring at Danielle.
"He has gotten suspended a lot and even benched in high school from football," said Danielle, sighing. "The only time he didn't bother me was middle school since he went to a different one."
"Wait…" said Aster, thinking back to a certain day. "Then those trust falls…"
"Whenever it came to him being one to supposed to grab me during those trust falls, he'd either drop me or never catch me. But that would be with other students too, like I wasn't there," said Danielle, leaning her head against the chair. "That and I really didn't like the feeling of falling backwards."
"What do you mean weren't there?" asked King, looking at Danielle.
"It didn't really happen with my family," replied Danielle, looking at King. "But to others, it was like I was never there, like I was invisible, never existed."
"But you do exist," said Aster, placing a paw on Danielle's face. "And you are here."
"Thanks Aster," said Danielle, leaning back on the chair and looking up at the ceiling. "I could never really open up with any besides Mamma and my fursisters. Wait… you didn't put anything in my food to get me to talk, did you?"
"Nope," said Eda, crossing her fingers behind her back.
"Carlos did a lot of things that upset me, even pushed me in a closet quite a few times," said Danielle, looking at the ceiling. "Let's play a game he says and then gear me towards the closet and lock me in. My parents were furious when I didn't come home because of what he and his friends have done."
"So, you never really had friends," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"I thought I did once," said Danielle, remembering a certain someone.
"What happened?" asked King, looking at Danielle.
"I invited her for a sleepover but she wanted my cousin there as well," said Danielle, looking at the ceiling. "Even for the second sleepover. Turn out my cousin was actually grounded and thought she could get out of it with the sleepover. Turns out, that girl wasn't my friend, she just used me to get to spend time with my cousin and she never even apologized for it."
"That explains the moonlight conjuring somewhat," said Luz, before looking at Danielle. "Remember when you got me to stop asking Eda about teaching me magic, when I didn't want Amity and her siblings to know I didn't know two spells at the time."
"Uh yeah, I remember that," said Danielle, sighing before looking at Luz. "My grandparents saw a lot of things when they were still in Europe and so has Mamma when she grew up in America. I remember a story Mamma told me about Dziadek when he was at a train station at night. There was a dark figure standing near a pole and every time he looked, it grew till it was as tall as the pole. Dziadek hightailed it out of there. I grew up on these stories Mamma and Nonna would tell me and I believe in that stuff. So, I will never touch a Ouija board or anything of the sort."
"So that part with Grom taking on the form of your Mamma and…" said Eda, remembering that part last night.
"I'd don't know what she'd really do," said Danielle, closing her eyes. "But I'm afraid of disappointing her and such. I love Mamma too much."
"And your dad?" asked King, looking at Danielle.
"I love him and respect him but he can be…" said Danielle, pulling her hair back. "A bit much. Like walking on thin ice."
"Ow," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Okay, different subject. How'd you get your garden to be big?"
"That's actually normal," replied Danielle, confusing everyone. "Plants just grow faster with me. Two weeks time and certain ones are ready for harvest. The vegetables and fruit are a lot bigger than normal and me and Mamma would make some to take over to Nonna and my grandparents on my dad's side."
"Are you an Earthmate?" asked Aster, looking at Danielle.
"Funny but I've never shown you those video games yet," replied Danielle, a little smile on her face. "Someone has been sneaking into my bag."
"Huh…" thought Aster, confused.
"You know, the more I look at you," said Luz, staring at Danielle. "I really don't see the Down Syndrome."
"Me and my sister have a pretty mild case," said Danielle, leaning on the chair and tracing patterns on the cushion. "We have a rare form of Down Syndrome called Mosaics. Mamma noticed it in Nicole and wanted me checked to be on the safe side. You can see it a little more in Nicole. For me, you have to really look. My hands and ears are slightly smaller."
"Oh," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Just because I don't show it doesn't mean I don't have it. I swear, I feel like a certain half demon in that anime," said Danielle, curling in on herself.
"Half demon… anime…" said Luz, trying to figure out which anime Danielle was talking about.
"I don't feel like I'm part of either. Not a part of the disabled cause I don't really show it and not part of normal cause I have Down Syndrome," said Danielle, pushing some hair back. "I feel like I'm stuck in some in between space where I'm all alone where no one wants to enter."
"Oh Danielle," said Eda, looking at Danielle.
"I want to call you guys my friends, I really do but…" said Danielle, choking up slightly.
"You've been hurt so many times," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Yes," said Danielle, lying down on the chair.
"Oh, looks like what I put in her food is making her tired," thought Eda, seeing Danielle laying on the chair.
"Wait, so does that mean…" said Aster, ears slightly flattened.
"If anything," said Danielle, stroking Aster's fur. "I'm closer to calling Aster a friend out of everyone here, even if it's a little slow."
"She's closer to calling me a friend than everyone else," thought Aster, ears perking up. "Yes, that's great! Take all the time you need. I'm not going anywhere."
"Hey Danielle," said Luz, getting Danielle's attention. "Remember that day Eda left for a few days. It seemed like you had a hard time when she left."
"Um… you know how I'm close with Mamma. I'm use to her being around all the time," said Danielle, looking up at everyone. "She has a bad back and had to have two surgeries. I had a weird dream the night of the first surgery where everything was white around me and I was getting hectic and looking around for her. I was so scared of losing her."
"But you didn't," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "She's still here."
"Yeah, she is but…" said Danielle, twiddling her index fingers. "She had appointments upstate a lot and would stay with Zia Janet and her family for a few days to recover. I felt like I had to take care of the house while she was gone but I didn't like the fact I couldn't see her, couldn't talk to her, couldn't touch her."
"Separation anxiety," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"I guess. I think that would have interfered with getting a job as well," said Danielle, tracing patterns in the chair cushions again. "I just wanted Mamma to be around me, she made me feel safe and comfortable. I helped out a lot around the house so she wouldn't have to hurt her back. I cooked as much as I could, I picked up the heavy bags whenever we went grocery shopping and made sure she didn't lift anything heavy, I dealt with the flower beds and garden even if the garden was raised beds, do some laundry and hang them on the line, cleaned the house…"
"Whoa there," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "What about you dad and sisters? Couldn't they have helped out?"
"I don't like my dad's cooking, says my bacon is too crispy. Turned Nicole against pasta since all he made on Sundays was spaghetti. That and when he got off of work, he wanted to rest. Masonry is back breaking work," said Danielle, looking at everyone. "Christina helped out before she left and started her own family. And Nicole… well… she complained but still do it. Those two would always seem to get out of doing dishes saying they did it last night and I got stuck with them. Something me and Mamma share."
"Did you ever get the chance to just be a kid?" asked Eda, looking at Danielle.
"Animes, video games, manga's, books, cartoons. Those were my releases from reality where I could be a kid," replied Danielle, sitting back up. "A place where those worlds and people won't reject me."
"Have you ever thought of living on your own and having a family?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Only in my dreams, only in my dreams," replied Danielle, leaning her head against her knees before seeing Manny appear near Luz. "Mr. Manuel."
"Danielle…" said Luz, looking at Danielle than behind her then back at Danielle. "You know, that confuses me."
"I've been able to see spirits and ghosts since I was born," said Danielle, sighing. "I originally thought when I saw Ru-chan, she was my imaginary friend but as I got older my thoughts shifted to seeing her as my guardian spirit."
"Wait… you can see…" said Luz, gripping the couch cushions before thinking. "Can she see Dad?"
"Huh…" said Danielle, hearing someone run towards the living room before seeing Gus run in.
"Have you seen my mom?" asked Gus, leaning close to Danielle. "How is she? Does she look okay?"
"Wha-wha…huh…" said Danielle, getting a little panicky and backing up. "Why is Gus here? Willow… Amity… Principal Bump… what's going on? Why are they here?"
"Sorry, Gus struggled out of our grip there," said Amity, looking at Eda before looking at Danielle. "We wanted to know what was going on with you."
"Yay…" said Danielle, weakly. "More people now know. Whoopie…"
"I'm actually curious how schools handle kids like you," said Principal Bump, looking at Danielle. "Though I'm also concerned for your wellbeing after what happened with Grom."
"I-I-I was mainstreamed though if you want to know more ask Luz to look it up," said Danielle, breathing deeply. "As for you Gus… um…"
"Sorry Danielle," said Manny, looking at Danielle. "She's not among us. She's still alive out there."
"O-okay," said Danielle, before looking at Gus who had tears in his eyes. "Your mom is actually still alive."
"What… but Dad said," said Gus, looking around the place frantically. "Did a spirit or ghost tell you just now?"
"Yeah… a certain someone has," replied Danielle, rubbing her arm.
"That means Dad lied to me," said Gus, slumping to the floor.
"Danielle… have…" said Willow, looking at Danielle. "Have you seen my mom?"
"Uh…" said Danielle, before seeing a woman place Willow into a hug before looking down at the floor. "I'm sorry Willow… but… she's hugging you right now."
"She…" said Willow, placing a shaking hand near her chest. "I never got to know her, she died not long after I was born due to complications."
"There were no complications," said Willow's Mom, holding her hand over her belly. "I was brutally murdered while I slept after I have given birth to Willow."
"Wait… what…" said Danielle, horrified and looking at Willow's Mom. "But… do you know…"
"I do know who since I passed on fully," said Willow's Mom, before holding out her hand. "Come here, I think you can help with this. It's only for a little while."
"Okay, like this," asked Daniele, touching Willow's Mom hand and slowing she appeared before everyone. "I… did not know I could do this."
Willow's Mom was around five foot six inches. Had long dark navy blue hair that reached her waist, olive green eyes, light skin, and pointy ears. Attire was an off the shoulder green top with a darker green border on the neck line with a leaf, a pale-yellow skirt that gradiented to pink and had a brown waist area, and green heeled dress shoes.
"Mom!" said Willow, trying to hug her only to go through her.
"I can't believe it," said Eda, seeing what Danielle was able to do.
"Can she…" thought Luz, wondering and looking around the house. "Dad, you there?"
"I'm sorry, I can't touch you," said Willow, looking at her mom only for her mom to wrap her arm around her like she was actually hugging. "I miss you."
"Ma'am," said Danielle, seeing Willow's Mom disappear back to the afterlife. "Willow, you going to be, okay?"
"I will be," said Willow, wiping a tear away. "Thank you, Danielle, for letting me see her."
"You're welcome, Willow," said Danielle, seeing Willow smile slightly.
"While I'm glad you were able to help Willow and Gus right there with their mothers," said Principal Bump, looking at Danielle. "I'm thinking you could drop a few tracks in Hexside."
"What… why?" asked Danielle, getting a little frantic and looking at Principal Bump.
"I'm glad you want to learn but I think you're taking on more than you can handle," replied Principal Bump, looking at Danielle. "Is there a track you thought was interesting but found out it wasn't after a bit?"
"Maybe illusions," replied Danielle, looking at the floor while holding her arm.
"Any others?" asked Principal Bump, staring at Danielle.
"I want to keep healing, plant, potions and beast keeping," replied Danielle, looking at Principal Bump. "And I like the bard track, I can finally get to play a musical instrument. And construction, I thought I could connect more with Dad if I learned that and maybe even fix some things I've noticed here."
"Danielle," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "You don't have to do that. I can see where Bump is going here. You're putting too much on yourself. Cut back, enjoy this second adolescence you've been given."
"But…" said Danielle, before whispering. "I don't want to be useless or a burden."
"What was that?" asked Eda, lifting Danielle's chin up.
"Nothing to concern yourself with," replied Danielle, looking to the side.
"How bout we keep the four you first listed," said Principal Bump, Danielle looking at him. "I'd like to keep Oracle as well since you seem to get into quite a few trances and such."
"O-okay," said Danielle, before remembering Raine and thinking. "Maybe I can still learn bardic magic from Raine."
"Danielle, are you okay?" asked Aster, seeing Danielle a little pale.
"I will be," said Danielle, brushing her hair back. "It's been a long… talk and such."
"Why not call it a day," said Principal Bump, placing a hand on Danielle's shoulder. "Edalyn…"
"Already on it," said Eda, taking down the barrier. "Also, Danielle, you don't have to do everything around the house. Take a break from the cleaning and cooking for a bit."
"But I like to cook," said Danielle, staring at Eda. "I was planning on making boats with the squashes and making pickles from the cucumber type vegetable."
"I know how to cook Danielle," said Eda, ruffling Danielle's hair. "And clean."
"Okay. Oh… before you guys go," said Danielle, running towards the kitchen and grabbing some jars and cookie tins before going back to the living room and handing them to Amity, Willow, Gus, and Principal Bump. "Here, for enduring… this."
"You didn't have to," said Principal Bump, looking at Danielle. "I'm just concerned for your wellbeing while here in our realm."
"Are these the same cookies you've given Edric?" asked Amity, staring at the cookie tins. "I'm going to have to hide these. They're better than the ones we normally get."
"What are these?" asked Gus, staring at the red substance in the jar.
"Pasta sauce," replied Danielle, looking at Gus. "Can also be used on pizzas and in soups and stew."
"Alright," said Eda, placing a hand on Danielle's shoulder and gearing her to the hallway. "Why don't you just rest for now."
"Okay, I do feel tired for some odd reason. Must be from my emotions getting the better of me" said Danielle, walking toward the hallway before looking back. "Ciao…"
"This is a start," thought Eda, watching Danielle head upstairs. "There's more she's hiding but this will have to do for now."
"She's a good kid," said Principal Bump. "Needs help but a good kid."
After Principal Bump, Amity, Willow and Gus left, Eda ends up slumping on the couch after the whole ordeal. Luz sits nearby with King wondering how they could help. When Gus got home and after having dinner, he approached his father.
"Hey Dad," said Gus, standing in the doorway to the kitchen. "We need to talk."
"About what," asked Gus's Dad, cleaning a plate.
"About Mom," said Gus, taking a deep breath.
"I thought I already told you years ago," said Gus's Dad, sighing. "Her magic went wild and killed her."
"No, it didn't," said Gus, getting a little testy. "Remember when I told you that Danielle could see spirits and ghosts. Well, a spirit told Danielle that Mom is still alive. She's still out there. So why are you… Dad?"
"She's still… Sibyl is still… still alive," said Gus's Dad, dropping the plate on the floor before looking at Gus. "Are you sure?"
"Yes…" replied Gus, walking over and bending down. "Dad... what's going…"
"They said she'd died in front of them. Those coven scouts…" said Gus's Dad, crying. "They lied!"
"Dad, calm down," said Gus, staring at his dad. "Like this."
"Okay," said Gus's Dad, calming down and looking at Gus. "This is good news. I don't know where she is but we will find her. And we'll be a family again."
When Willow got home, she embraced her dad. Wondering what was going on, her Dad gets her to speak after a bit.
"Now what is this about," asked Willow's Dad, staring at Willow.
"Remember when I mentioned Danielle could see spirits and ghosts," said Willow, staring at her dad. "Well, she just found out if she touches them, she can get us to see them," said Willow, a little teary eyed. "I met Mom. She's just like you told me."
"Oh, sweetie," said Willow's Dad, hugging Willow and letting her cry on his shoulders. "It will be okay. You are so much like her."
As for Willow's Papa, after what he heard, had closed the door to his room. Banging a fist against the wall, Willow's Papa stares at an old photo his husband had of his deceased wife.
"Still can't give him up, can you. And that daughter of yours…" said Willow's Papa, glaring at the photo before placing the frame down. "I am not giving Gilbert up. Something has to be done with that human and Sage's spirit. Looks like I can turn in that favor with Odalia."
Back at the owl house, after resting and having dinner, Danielle was about to go to her room. Luz on the other hand, had went up from behind and pulled her into a hug.
"Luz, are you… oh," said Danielle, feeling Luz's hands shake. "I'm sorry I never mentioned it. No one really believed me outside Mamma's family."
"It's okay. I just…" said Luz, crying into Danielle's back. "I miss him so much."
"I know Luz… I know," said Danielle, holding Luz's hand. "The Azura books are his last mementos to you, from what he told me. I can see why you love the series so much."
"Papá…" said Luz, still crying.
Eda, King, and Aster saw what was going on between the girls. Eda silently cursed herself for almost burning Luz's last connection to her father. As for King and Aster, they slept with their chosen human for the night, curling up nearby incase they needed a cuddle buddy.
