I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the Main OC and any other OC's that will appear in the story. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Today was going to be a bad day for everyone at the owl house. At the Emperor's Castle, a bunch of wild witches were brought to be branded with a coven sigil. Lilith walks down a hall before coming upon a stained-glass window of Belos, robed witches bowing at his feet while a Hand of the Titan reaches for the sun behind them.
"I haven't forgotten what you've promised me," said Lilith, staring at the stained-glass window. "I will bring you my sister, Emperor Belos. And that human as well."
"Then why the delay?" asked Kikimora, from behind Lilith.
Kikimora is a red-skinned demon of diminutive stature and child-like proportions. She stands several heads shorter than Lilith, with three-toed, talon-clad arms and legs similar to those of a bird. Her talons are colored dark brown. Her left eye has yellow sclera and a brownish red iris; inversely, her right eye has red sclera and a yellow iris, and had pointy ears. Her mouth, hidden from view by her collar, features sharp yellowish teeth and a single upturned tusk. Most defining feature are the dark blue conjoined hands with turquoise claws which make up her hair: one with fingers that form a fringe which hides her right eye from view, the other is clenched behind her head to form a bun-esque fist. Wears white tunic over a black ensemble, as well as a high-collared veil which shrouds the lower regions of her face. This veil is fastened by a triangular golden accessory. Walks barefooted.
"Kikimora!" said Lilith, turning around in surprise.
"The Day of Unity is fast approaching, and other teams have bound many rogue witches to covens, and yet the Owl Lady still roams free," said Kikimora, staring at Lilith. "Are you... protecting her?"
"Rest assured, Kiki. I have everything under control," replied Lilith, snapping her fingers and guards approaching under command. "Today, we capture Eda, once and for all. And the human as well."
Meanwhile, at the Crossroads, Aster is laying on a stone slab. Rubbing his head, Aster thinks about Danielle.
"Danielle's my friend, right? She promised to get me out but…" said Aster, talking to himself. "Does she like my fox form more? Does she not want me completely out so I'm always in that form? No, she promised. I know she will. But…"
As Aster is doubting, Lilith enacts her plan. While Hooty was snoring away, she had some scouts survey around the owl house.
"Good," said Lilith, pulling up her mask and watching Hooty. "That infernal house demon is asleep. Surround the house!"
"Sleepwalking... sleepwalking. Sleep-hooting!" said Hooty, waking up and slamming into the ground and popping up behind Lilith. "Hiya, Lilith! Peek-a-hoot! Sorry! Eda doesn't like trespassers, but I'm always here to make new friends! Hoot! Oh! Look at me! I'm a person now. Wobbly, wobbly! Ooh, blackout! Hoot hoot! Hoot hoot! Bye, friend! Ooh! I feel like dancing! Hoot!"
"Whoa!" said Danielle, watching Hooty deal with the coven scouts from her room. "Hooty is going to town on those scouts."
"I did it! Oh hey! Look, it's a bug!" said Hooty, seeing a leaf on the ground and dodging a blast from Lilith. "Aww! Just an old leaf! Well, that's good too."
"Hooty, don't eat…" shouted Danielle, only to see Hooty eat the leaf. "Oh gosh, he actually ate it. Hooty, you're a riot and a half."
"Hooty! Ah, you're a thorn in my side," said Eda, watching as well with binoculars from the living room before grabbing a cup of tea. "But you always dig your way into my heart."
"Ooh, magic 'sghetti," said Luz, about to take something out of the cauldron that Eda was brewing up.
"Luz," said Danielle, coming into the living room.
"Right, spaghetti," said Luz, hand hovering over the cauldron.
"Hey! That 'sghetti is Witch's Wool. It repels powerful spells," said Eda, magically slapping Luz's hand away from the cauldron before holding up some wool from the cauldron. "Every witch worth their salt has a cloak made from this stuff."
"I'm worth salt..." said Luz, staring at the wool. "I want cloak!"
"Easy, kid! With the Emperor's goons at my doorstep, I need this for protection," said Eda, pulling the cauldron away from Luz. "They have really stepped up their attacks lately."
"I think I finally understand why the Emperor wants you so badly," said Luz, before joking. "He's got the hots for you, doesn't he?"
"I highly doubt it," said Danielle, looking at the wool.
"Uh, but no. Emperor Belos wants to control all wild magic through his coven system," said Eda, staring at the girls. "He ordered my capture years ago because I refuse to fall in line."
"And he won't stop until he's got you..." said Luz, her head drooping.
"There's got to be a way to show him wild magic isn't as dangerous as he thinks," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "Is magic even wild to begin with?"
"Awww, don't sound so worried. I'm a master escape artist. The only thing that can slow me down is my curse, and that hasn't bothered me for weeks!" said Eda, before feathers start popping from her arms. "Uh oh…"
"King!" shouted Luz, as her and Danielle back away as Eda transforms.
"Weh?" said King, peeking into the room and seeing Eda transform. "AH!"
"Elixir!" said Danielle, staring at King. "Get the elixir! Hurry!
As Eda had transformed into the Owl Beast, she had awakened within her mind. Appearing in her childhood bedroom, Eda sees the door open behind her, revealing a silhouette.
"You know, I'm getting a little tired of this game," said Eda, walking towards the silhouette and grabbing for it. "So, why don't you just show me your face?"
"She's coming to," said Danielle, holding an empty elixir bottle.
"Oh," said Eda, holding Luz's face before letting go and seeing the empty elixir bottles. "Whew! Oh, thanks for this! And those..."
"Hey, your gem!" said Luz, seeing the scarf around Eda's neck falling off, revealing the gem being somewhat dark. "It's still dark!"
"Is that why you're wearing the scarf?" asked Danielle, staring at Eda. "To hide it…"
"Uh..." said Eda, covering the gem back up with the scarf. "No, it's not! You're nuts!"
"Eda," said Danielle, staring at Eda, concerned and scared.
"The curse has been getting worse and you've been hiding it!" said Luz, pointing at Eda.
"Ugh... you're right," said Eda, looking at her gem then the girls. "It's taking more elixir to turn me back and more magic to keep the curse from rearing its feathery head."
"What happens if you use your magic up?" asked Luz, getting concerned. "Do you... do you die?"
"No… no, you can't," said Danielle, getting teary eyed and looking at Eda.
"No! Jeez, you're morbid. I just kinda sorta, turn into the Owl Beast... forever," said Eda, looking at the girls. "Ahhh, it's a fate much worse than death if you think about it."
"Don't laugh about such things," said Danielle, teary eyed.
"Right," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "You're not fond of such things."
"No! No, I-I can't let that happen!" said Luz, staring at Eda. "I'll do something about it. I'll find a cure and then…"
"Hey, don't worry. I just have to limit my magic use a little," said Eda, turning the girls frown into smiles before the girls start frowning. "Ah! There's the Luz and Danielle I know! Ugh. Go on. Do the parallel arm thing..."
"Please, don't leave," said Danielle, hugging Eda alongside Luz.
"King demands huggies too!" said King, jumping in on the hug as well.
"Okay! It's... time... for... school!" said Eda, straining to walk before finally making it to the kitchen door. "Have a good day! Danielle, you have to let go."
"No," said Danielle, gripping tighter. "I don't want to."
"I got her," said Luz, trying to get Danielle off Eda with little success. "Okay, harder than I expected."
"Danielle… you have to… let go," said Eda, prying Danielle off. "There, that's better."
"Get rest! Drink lots of water!" said Luz, holding Danielle back as Eda slings their bags on them. "Stay out of the sun! Lift with your knees, not your…"
"Eda…" said Danielle, after Eda slammed the door shut.
"Ah, such good kids! So considerate. They deserve something nice," said Eda, picking up the cauldron of witch's wool. "And I think I know what!"
As the girls head to school, they wonder what they can do to help Eda with her curse. Danielle tried to go back to the owl house but Luz stopped her.
"Poor Eda. Enemies everywhere, even her own body," said Luz, walking past Hooty and the defeated coven scouts. "I wish I could help her."
"We Luz," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I'm helping too."
"The roughhousing was fun, but I like this part of our playdates even better!" said Hooty, pouring some tea into a cup.
"Run… run," said Danielle, running alongside Luz after seeing Hooty having a tea party with the defeated coven scouts.
The girls pass a ringing compact mirror on a pile of dirt, out of which Lilith's arm bursts out. Lilith grabs the compact and opens it as she drags herself out, a bird nest on her head.
"The Emperor demands your presence in the throne room," said Kikimora, on screen. "And there's a bird on your head."
"Oooo... you're in trouble!" said the Bird, Lilith closing the compact and groaning.
Finally reaching school, the girls notice a dragon bus. Danielle remembers there was a field trip today to the Emperor's Castle. Danielle realizes this could be her chance at getting Aster out of there while trying to figure out how to help Eda as well.
"Luz, Danielle, you ready for the field trip of a lifetime to the one, the only, Emperor's Castle!" said Gus, closing a book and looking at the girls.
"For once," said Danielle, balling her hands into fists. "Yes."
"Right. I was actually gonna stay behind," said Luz, looking to the side. "I don't like the way they treat Eda."
"Me neither," said Danielle, before thinking. "But this is my chance to help Aster. He's done so much for me. This is the least I can do for him. I did promise after all."
"But you're gonna miss out on all the cool stuff!" said Gus, shoving a book in the girls faces.
"Like what?" asked Luz, staring at the pamphlet.
"Like ancient relics!" replied Willow, opening the book to a certain area. "Look, it's the Plant Coven's Green Thumb Gauntlet! It can grow whatever you imagine."
"Mmm…" thought the girls, looking at the entry.
"And the Oracle Sphere!" said Gus, pointing at a picture on the book. "It shows you which path will help you become your best self!"
"The Healing Hat. Made from the magic of the Savage Ages. It is said to cure the deadliest diseases... and heal any curse?" said Luz, reading the entry to another relic.
"Who to the what now?" said Danielle, looking at the entry again. "A cure for Eda."
"Yeah! You can't miss this!" said Willow, looking at the girls.
"All aboard students!" said Principal Bump, looking at the students.
"Mmm," said Luz, picking up the book when Gus and Willow run towards the flying ship. "You've done so much for me, Eda. Now I'm gonna do something for you."
"We both will," said Danielle, putting a hand on Luz's shoulder. "Let's go."
Boarding the dragon bus, the girls sit next to Willow and Gus. Danielle was clinging to her seat in fright, not having been this high with her flying lessons yet. Luz, on the other hand was jotting down how to get the healing hat from the Emperor's Castle.
"No roughhousing! Do not make me turn this carriage around!" said Principal Bump, staring at the students who were cheering.
"Hey, Luz!" said Willow, leaning towards Luz.
"Ah!" said Luz, hiding her notepad. "Um, what was that, Willow?"
"I was just saying we were getting close to the castle," said Willow, her and Luz peering over the side and seeing the Emperor's Castle. "Emperor Belos built it as a symbol of unity. Before he came to power, folks were doing magic all wrong. He taught us that the only way to respect what the Titan gave us is through joining covens. It's a shame Amity couldn't make it. She would love this trip."
"So, Willow... would you say this Belos guy is like, powerful?" asked Luz, looking at Willow.
"No offense to Eda, but the Emperor is the most skilled witch that's ever lived. He can even talk to the Titan," said Willow, before gasping. "Maybe Danielle could to with the way her magic… uh, Danielle…"
"Get me off this death trap," said Danielle, looking pale.
"Don't worry, we're about to land," said Luz, feeling the dragon bus land. "See."
"Now, the Emperor's assistant will be your tour guide," said Principal Bump, staring at the students. "Please don't make me regret taking you here."
"Oh, dolce dolce terra," said Danielle, getting off the dragon bus after everyone before her while holding Luz's arm. "Quanto mi sei mancato."
"We need to work more on that," said Luz, steadying Danielle.
"Not today," said Danielle, as they walk towards the extending bridge. "Ah man, I don't even like escalators."
"Just… keep holding on to me," said Luz, patting Danielle's hands only for Danielle to grip tighter as the extended bridge moves as she pulls her hood and Danielle's hood over their heads. "Too tight."
"This is for Aster, this is for Aster," thought Danielle, chanting in her head. "This pull… is it… can I find Aster this way?"
"Children of Hexside, Emperor Belos welcomes you to his castle. We're honored by visits from students," said Kikimora, staring at the students and ushering to follow her. "You'll soon be a part of the coven, some lucky few may even find their home here, in the mighty Emperor's Coven! You... are the future of the Isles! My job is to teach you its past. Today, the Isles are a place of peace and prosperity. But that wasn't always the case. Up until 50 years ago, witches and demons practiced wild magic during what we called the Savage Ages. Witches had access to corrupt knowledge, and that dishonored the Titan."
"Why do I feel like that doesn't sound right?" thought Danielle, looking at a mural of witches dancing around a fire.
"That was, until our great Emperor ascended to the throne, and taught witches how to use magic properly," said Kikimora, gesturing to another mural of Belos holding up a beam of light, witches below celebrating his power. "Our next stop is the Emperor's personal collection of relics."
"Oh! Luz, you'll like this. It's where…" said Willow, seeing Luz trying to get a vent off. "Huh?"
"Heh... Uh, love me a properly ventilated castle!" said Luz, noticing Willow and Gus looking at her before following after the group.
"The Relic Room. These items are reminders of our great Emperor's overwhelming power," said Kikimora, entering the room with the ancient relics. "From the curious and mighty."
"Oooh," said Gus, seeing the oracle sphere.
"Eep," said Danielle, backing away from the oracle sphere when it glowed when she passed by it.
"To the very handy," said Kikimora, walking pass the ancient relics.
"Oh, I could grow such beautiful things with that," said Willow, looking at the green thumb gauntlet.
"And even, the most valuable," said Kikimora, passing another relic.
"The cure for Eda," said Danielle, looking at the healing hat alongside Luz.
"Come along, children," said Kikimora, walking out of the room.
"Let's go, Luz! Danielle!" said Gus, grabbing the girls hands as Luz starts to walk towards the healing hat and pulling them along.
"This pull… it feels like," thought Danielle, clutching her cowl. "A little strong. Will I have to separate from the others for a bit?"
"Here at the Emperor's Coven, we require members with sophistication, elegance, and grace," said Kikimora, before seeing Lilith slam the doors open and walks their way. "Ah! Make way for Miss Lilith Clawthorne, students."
"Ooh, I hope she didn't have to endure Hooty's tea party," thought Danielle, hiding behind a pillar alongside Luz.
"Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, she's on her way to see the Emperor himself," said Kikimora, staring at Lilith. "Let's all wish her luck!"
"Good luck, Miss Lilith!" said the class, looking at Lilith.
"Thank you, students," said Lilith, looking over her shoulder before walking away. "Good luck with puberty."
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," said Danielle, whispering to Luz who giggled in response.
"This way, children," said Kikimora, ushering the class to follow.
"Hmm," said Luz, deciding on following Lilith.
Lilith walks through the halls, the girls tailing her out of sight. The closer to the Emperor's room they get, the more pipes are visible snaking around the walls. The girls are nearly caught, but ducks behind a corner before Lilith turns around. When Lilith continues on, the girls peeks. Lilith stops at a massive door to clean herself up before entering. The girls run up and watches through the keyhole. Inside is a massive throne room. A beating green heart, far larger than would belong in any current living creature, is hooked up to pipes above the golden throne, which is flanked with flaming braziers. Various guards are standing around the room, one with a mask resembling an owl standing directly behind the throne. Belos himself is sitting on the throne, his head in his hand. Lilith approaches the throne and kneels.
"I am at your service, Emperor Belos," said Lilith, staring at Emperor Belos.
Belos was tall and breathing heavily on the throne. Wears a golden mask with two long upward-facing horns. His eyes are hollow through the mask, creating the appearance of having empty eye sockets. He wears a large white and brown cape with gold trim over a baggy gray tunic and black pants tucked into both his golden gloves and brown boots.
"Just a moment, Lilith," said Emperor Belos, before taking a palisman and breaking off its head, glowing green goop pouring out of the palisman which Belos pours into the eye holes of his mask, his eyes glowing green after. "Ah, that's better."
"That poor palisman," thought Danielle, hearing it scream when Belos broke it before running off with Luz, covering their mouths.
"How's the hunt for the Owl Lady?" asked Emperor Belos, looking at Lilith. "I heard you attempted a raid this morning."
"Yes, but we were…" said Lilith, looking at Emperor Belos.
"Unsuccessful? That was obvious enough," said Emperor Belos, standing up. "It's been over a month since you promised to bring me the Owl Lady. Well, where is she? And the human girl that can use magic as well."
"If I just had more time, I…" said Lilith, looking at Emperor Belos.
"I'm getting bored of your excuses, Lilith. Don't worry, I'll give you the time you need. Bring the Owl Lady and the human girl to me by twilight. She'll join the Emperor's Coven and in return, I'll heal her little curse. But, if you fail..." said Emperor Belos, digging his nails into the throne, the heart beating faster behind him. "You will be stripped of your rank and banished from my coven. You do know what happens to covenless witches, don't you?"
"I-I understand," said Lilith, looking at a mural before standing up. "I will not fail."
Back at the owl house, Eda is knitting with the witch's wool while King is napping on the couch. Done with one witch's cloak, Eda starts up another one.
"Yeah!" said Eda, staring at her handiwork. "Something tells me Luz and Danielle are gonna like having a cape."
"Cape?" said King, waking up. "I thought you were making cake!"
"You thought I was knitting a cake?" said Eda, staring at King.
"I, uh... anyway! If there's no cake, then I have to get to work!" said King, running towards the kitchen. "Would you look at us two, being all generous to those two. You know what, when they first got here, I thought we were gonna eat them. But now I only think of that, like, sometimes."
"Yeah, they've changed the feel of this house," said Eda, picking up two pictures that fell down, one with Luz during an eating contest and Danielle holding a bag incase Luz threw up, and the other picture showing Danielle harvesting in the garden with King and Aster hitching a ride on her back while Luz holds her hand after pricking it against a thorn in a berry bush. "Well, they always had a good heart, but Luz was impatient and always bit off more than she could chew. And Danielle… well… is slowly opening up some and is very helpful. But despite all that, I think Luz finally growing up. And Danielle learning to loosen up a little."
Back at the Emperor's Castle, the girls after running had found a curtain to hid behind. Peering out a nearby window, Luz sees the class leaving, the bridge extending back to the dragon bus.
"Please don't notice we're gone, please don't notice we're—boarding the bus?" said Luz, seeing another her and Danielle on the bridge. "Huh?"
"An illusion," said Danielle, peering out the window then looking behind her and seeing Gus and Willow. "Hehe, ciao…"
"Oh! Guys. I, uh..." said Luz, turning around and seeing Gus spin three circles around his fingers.
"You were planning on taking the Healing Hat, weren't you?" said Willow, pulling out Luz's notepad.
"You got me. But you don't understand," said Luz, sighing and grabbing her notepad. "Eda has this curse and it's zapping away her magic, and…"
"Luz, no matter what, you can't steal this hat," said Willow, staring at Luz.
"I don't think Emperor Belos is going to listen after what we just saw," said Danielle, confusing Willow and Gus. "He offed a palisman and poured its essence into his eyes, like he was absorbing it."
"It was awful," said Luz, seeing Willow and Gus gasp.
"Don't ever give your palisman up," said Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus before they nodded yes at her.
"Well, let's borrow it," said Gus, changing the subject back to the healing hat.
"Hey! I wanted to say that!" said Willow, looking at Gus then the girls. "We learned about Eda's curse from your notes. We're totally gonna help you."
"Thanks, guys. I know exactly what we gotta do," said Luz, looking at Willow and Gus. "It's time for a heist!"
Willow, Luz, Danielle and Gus sneak through the halls when they see a guard coming down the stairs. They duck behind a small bush, which Willow grows into the shape of a unicorn. The guard stops, nudges its horn, and continues on. The three run off; Another guard is standing in a hallway. The four notice them and come out of a door stacked together awkwardly under one uniform. Luz, at the front, waves, high-fives the guard, and finger guns as they retreat. The guard is very confused; Luz looks at the vent from earlier. Luz draws out a fire glyph and melts the vent; Danielle doesn't look good crawling through the vent as they crawl through it. They reach yet another hallway, where Gus's illusions up a double of Kikimora to send a guard off. Once the guard leaves, the illusion Kikimora does the worm. Gus laughs, oblivious to Luz and Willow's confused looks, while Danielle shakes her head with her palm against her face. Finally, the four enter the relic room.
"Healing Hat. Mmm! You're Eda's last hope," said Luz, grabbing the hat which glows. "I-I can feel it! I can feel the magic flowing!"
"Me too!" said Gus, picking up the oracle sphere. "Finally, I'm about to become my best self!"
"You're always your best self," said a copy of Gus, appearing from the oracle sphere and making Gus cry tears of joy.
"Whoa!" said Willow, trying on the green thumb gauntlet and producing a large wooden arm from it before taking it off. "I just wanted to try it out."
"Okay," said Danielle, looking at everyone. "Let's bolt."
"Now we can cure Eda and get this hat back before anyone knows it's gone," said Luz, laughing.
"I will know," said Emperor Belos, projecting his voice in the relic room.
"Oh no," said Danielle, moving closer to everyone.
"We need to go. Now," said Luz, backing up towards the doors before barricades drop down.
"Stand back!" said Willow, grabbing the green thumb gauntlet.
Willow grabs the green thumb gauntlet and grows a massive buff tree. It extends its arms at one of the barricades. Standing out in the hallway, Lilith is pacing around in front of the stained-glass mural of Belos, talking to herself.
"Lilith, think! You've given your entire life to this coven, you can't lose it. What's Eda's weakness? She has no attachment, no friends. Think!" said Lilith, banging her fist against the wall at the same time a loud crash happens before looking at her hand.
Back at the relic room, the barricade has a hole in it now. Willow shrinks the tree back down.
"Come on, let's go!" said Luz, Danielle running beside her before stopping as Lilith points her staff at them lowering their hoods.
"Why, if it isn't Eda's human pets. How perfect," said Lilith, staring at the girls. "Aren't I lucky to find you two here."
"Stay away!" said Luz, her and Danielle backing away from Lilith. "If you touch us, Eda will come after you so fast…"
"That's the plan," said Lilith, teleporting in front of the girls before looking at Danielle. "And you'll be staying here."
"Run, Luz! Run, Danielle!" shouted Willow, raises the Green Thumb Gauntlet and grows a wooden arm to grab Lilith's staff only for Lilith to toss her to the side as the girls run for the door.
"Wrong move, Lilith. It's two against one, and you don't stand a chance against..." said Gus, only for Lilith to poof his copy away and tossing him towards Willow.
"Willow! Gus!" shouted Danielle, looking back at Willow and Gus concerned.
"Now, that doesn't belong to you," said Lilith, magically grabbing the healing hat.
"No!" said Luz, holding onto the healing hat alongside Danielle only for Lilith to close her fist, and the magic rips the hat in half before disappearing. "No! I needed that to heal your sister!"
"How are we suppose to heal Eda now?" asked Danielle, staring at Lilith.
"Huh," said Lilith, grabbing Luz before blueish-white sinewy tendrils encase Danielle before teleporting her to a different area of the castle. "These decrepit relics are useless. If you wanna see your friends again, deliver this to Edalyn."
"Luz! Willow! Gus!" shouted Danielle, extending her hand before disappearing out of sight. "Aah!"
"Luz! Danielle!" shouted Willow, as she and Gus are pushed by Lilith's staff into the air before heading out of the Emperor's castle.
The moment Danielle was teleported away, she appeared in a room where Emperor Belos was. Hanging from the ceiling by the same sinewy tendrils, Danielle looks around before spotting Emperor Belos and Dark.
"Ah, I can't believe I get to see you face to face again," said Emperor Belos, walking closer to a struggling Danielle.
"Stammi lontano!" shouted Danielle, still struggling to get loose before being slapped by Emperor Belos across the face, stunned silence and looking scared at Emperor Belos.
"I suggest you use the English language," said Emperor Belos, hand still raised before lowering it when Danielle flinched. "Now there, I don't want to hurt you, Lady Light. I just want to help you."
"Lady Light?" said Danielle, confused before glaring at Emperor Belos. "I'm not this Light person. I'm me and no one else. I'm Danielle!"
"Oh, this has gone on for far too much," said Dark, grabbing Danielle's head and touching the center of her forehead, a symbol appearing and Dark pressing forcefully on it. "Stop it! Stop it! That hurts!"
Screaming and struggling, the cracks from that day against the greater basilisk start spreading more and more till they're all over Danielle's body. The glow from the cracks intensifies. Danielle screams one last time before what was her body burst off into tiny fragments, floating about the room. In the center of the room is Danielle but as the Young Girl, her eyes blank.
"Ah yes!" said Emperor Belos, taking Danielle's hand. "You finally grace me with your presence Lady Light. Help me cleanse this perdition and purge this dark being from me."
"Watch it," said Dark, eyeing Emperor Belos before looking at the fragments. "I see, so Light used the four elements to create the girl's new body."
"Such perfection, such grace…" said Emperor Belos, tracing Danielle's chin with his fingers. "Why isn't she responding? Dark! Why isn't she…"
"Now now then, really think she'd respond," said Dark, staring at Danielle. "Seems like this incarnation's conscious is still there but in an unconscious state."
"How do I bring Light themself to the forefront?" asked Emperor Belos, looking at Dark. "Better yet…"
"Tsk tsk, getting Light to the forefront is nearly impossible," replied Dark, before seeing the tiny fragments being pulled back to Danielle and reforming her mortal self, unconscious. "I forced her awakening more. In time, she'll end up being back to being Light, whether the child wants it or not."
"Then I'll correct the child down the correct path," said Emperor Belos, preventing Danielle from falling and placing her bridal style in his arms. "Starting with these horrendous clothes. Such unbecoming of someone of her status."
Walking out the room, Emperor Belos heads down the hall to a specific room. Seeing a few female coven scouts donning dress like versions of the scout garb, Emperor Belos orders them to don Danielle into appropriate attire that he had set up over the course since she arrived on the isles. Placing Danielle on the bed, Emperor Belos leaves the room and walks to a different destination in the castle, a balcony overlooking the bridge with Lilith waiting on it.
Back at the owl house, Eda had finished knitting the capes for the girls and was helping King into the cake that he made. Willow and Gus had finally arrived and mentioned the bad news to her. Summoning her staff, Eda flies straight for the Emperor's Castle.
"Come on, Edalyn. You would be late when I need you most," said Lilith, looking towards Emperor Belos before seeing a yellow flash before Eda appears. "Sister! I see that you got my invitation to a Witch's Duel!"
Bolts of electricity fly at Lilith, though none hit her. Eda flies at her, taunting. Lilith blocks one hit with a summoned shield. She summons her staff and fires a bolt at Eda.
"Where are they?" asked Eda, flying at Lilith.
"Easy now," said Lilith, tapping her staff to the ground summoning a blue bubble from the castle with Luz in it. "The human is safe."
"Where's Danielle!" said Eda, spotting Luz but not Danielle.
"She'll be staying here," said Lilith, staring at Eda.
"Eda!" shouted Luz, staring at Eda.
"You can have this one back, provided you do as I say," said Lilith, walking in front of Luz. "Renounce your wild ways and join the Emperor's Coven. He can help heal your curse!"
"Don't believe everything that bonehead tells you," said Eda, glaring at Lilith. "He doesn't want to heal me, he wants to control me!"
"Then I will take you in by force," said Lilith, spinning her staff.
"You've always looked down on me because I'm wild, but fortunately, that just made me work harder than you," said Eda, spinning her staff.
Eda slams her staff on the ground, summoning a towering owl made of light behind her. She rushes at Lilith, launching her in the air. Inside the castle, guards turn to watch. In the air, Eda appears behind Lilith. Lilith disappears as Eda swings her staff. Lilith reappears behind Eda right as Eda disappears. Eda appears behind Lilith and kicks her, then zaps away to chase her. From the bubble, Luz watches Eda and Lilith zip across the sky, nothing but gold and blue lights weaving and crashing. Lilith shoots a beam of light at Luz's bubble, sending it flying. Eda lands on the bridge. Luz yells.
"Luz!" shouted Eda, redirecting the boards of the bridge to keep Luz from falling off.
Lilith drops down, and Eda rolls out of the way to prevent being crushed. Eda summons a Hooty Hydra to wrap Lilith up. Eda spins her staff and sends a giant blast at Lilith. Lilith puts Luz between her and the bolt, which Eda redirects, missing them both.
"Stop hiding behind Luz, you coward!" shouted Eda, panting and groaning.
"It's sad to see you slowing down sister," said Lilith, panting as well. "Tell me, is it the curse?"
"Eda! Your gem!" shouted Luz, seeing Eda's gem darken more while banging on the bubble.
"Maybe it is the curse," said Eda, ignoring Luz. "But then how pathetic are you, that you can't best me at my worst?!"
Eda spins her staff and summons a dozen rings of magic, all of which send bolts at Lilith. Eda's Hooty Hydra drags Luz to safety as Lilith summons a shield to protect herself. Luz looks around and notices a pointed rock.
"Maybe you are stronger than me, but that made me work smarter!" said Lilith, staring at Eda. "I became smart, crafty!"
"A lapdog for a tyrant!" said Eda, glaring at Lilith, not noticing Luz getting herself free after banging against the pointed rock.
"You always thought you were better than me, that I could never beat you in anything!" said Lilith, her shield broken in places.
"I am better than you!" said Eda, still pelting Lilith's shield with spells.
"Then why were you so easy to curse?!" shouted Lilith, gasping before covering her mouth, Eda looks shocked and betrayed, the image in Eda's mind finally solidifying. "A-And I have the power to remove it, if you would just let me explain."
Eda looks away. She shakes in anger. With a yell of fury, she rushes forward and destroys Lilith's shield, flinging Lilith in the wall hard enough to leave a crater.
"Eda, stop!" shouted Luz, seeing the gem darkening more.
The black in Eda's gem is writhing furiously. Eda doesn't seem to care. Lilith smirks. Luz is surrounded by glowing blue magic and starts floating.
"Human. That orb was for your protection," said Lilith, moving Luz over the bridge then letting the magic drop, letting Luz fall.
"Luz!" shouted Eda, drawing a shaky spell circle with her staff, straining to keep Luz from plummeting into giant spikes.
"Eda, stop!" said Luz, staring at Eda concerned. "You'll run out of magic!"
"It's my power, kid" said Eda, staring at Luz. "And before you and Danielle even Aster showed up, I spent my whole life wasting it."
"Eda, no, no, no!" said Luz, Lilith pushing her more towards the giant spikes with a magic hand while seeing Eda's gem darken even more.
"Alright, kid. Listen to me," said Eda, her gem almost black and the whites of her eyes beginning to go black as well. "I'm going away, and I don't know if I can bounce back this time. Watch over King. Make sure Danielle doesn't do everything. Remember to feed Hooty."
"Please, no!" said Luz, getting scared.
"And Luz, thank you for being in my life," said Eda, before thinking. "Even you Danielle. Aster."
With a scream, Eda unleashes a powerful burst of magic. Owlbert flies off the staff. Lilith is pushed back, her spell broken. Eda's magic illuminates the Isles. Luz, several feet higher than before, falls. She stops inches away from a spike, and Owlbert picks her up by the hood and flies her back to the bridge, where Eda is laying.
"Eda," said Luz, bending down near Eda.
Eda rolls over and screams, her voice overlapping with the Owl Beast's. She slams a hand to the bridge, and the Owl Beast stands. It advances on Luz, who backs away. The Owl Beast tries to pounce, and Luz cowers, but the impact never comes, Lilith binding the Owl Beast and dragging it halfway across the bridge with her staff.
"Come along, sister. Now we can let the healing begin," said Lilith, looking up at Emperor Belos.
"You monster!" shouted Luz, jumping onto Lilith.
"Leave, human!" said Lilith, tossing Luz off her and grabbing Owlbert. "Edalyn is finally with her family. Her real family. Go back to your world. This one is ours."
Luz slowly walks back to the Owl House. The sun is rising as Luz has been walking all night. Luz opens the door to the dark living room. She looks at the side, her eyes widening. She gasps. There are balloons and streamers hung up. Party hats are on the couches, and confetti is on the floor. Her new cape and Danielle's cape are wrapped in a bow on the table, next to King's cake, the candles of which have long burned out. King bursts out of the cake.
"The cake is me!" said King, popping out of the cake and looking around. "Hey, um, where's Eda and Danielle?"
Luz gasps, and her eyes fill with tears as she falls to the floor. Hooty looks at her in concern. Both him and King approach Luz to comfort her.
