This one features Ace, Tegan and Graham. It is about Ace doing something to be with Graham.
…
While searching for a place to hold the Companion Support Group, Ace, Graham and Tegan are being shown by a realtor. "Don't look now Ace," Tegan Jovanka informs her friend.
"What do you mean?" She looks at her friend as some laughter reaches her.
"Someone is flirting with your man." Ace turns around and sees some woman flirting with Graham. The man who is quickly capturing her heart.
'I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl'
"He's not my man." Tegan can see her friends starting to move back and forth on her feet; not wanting to admit her feelings for Graham to anyone but herself.
"Then why are you getting antsy?" Tegan tries to tease Ace.
Ace turns away from the show of Graham not knowing how to turn down the women's advances and faces her friend. Ace wants to keep an eye out to make sure Graham doesn't get too uncomfortable, he is not the most attentive to someone flirting with him. She had been flirting with him for weeks now.
'I sneak in and see your friends
And her snotty little family all dressed in pastel
And she is yelling at a bridesmaid
Somewhere back inside a room
Wearing a gown shaped like a pastry
This is surely not what you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream
Where I stand and say'
"He is not my man. He is just one of my best friends." The younger woman tries to deny.
"Sure, a friend that you like and spend a lot of time with." Tegan teases her.
"I spend a lot of time with you and I like you." Ace thinks she made a point by saying that and smiles triumphantly.
"You may like me, but not in the way you like Graham."
"How do you know how I feel about him?" They both slightly face Graham and the woman.
"It's obvious. The way you look at him, talk about him, and how you light up when he enters the room." They watch as Graham backs up as she tries to touch his arm.
'Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said, "Speak now"'
"Ace, you should do something about this before it's too late."
"He's uncomfortable." Tegan watches closely as her friend tries to stay still, after thinking how does her friend know that fact.
"How would you know that?"
"He just backed away."
"It is for different reasons, isn't it?" She knows Ace better than most people, so she knows that Ace is keeping something from her.
"Fine, it is."
"Curious minds want to know." Ace is now scowling for two reasons, the woman flirting with Graham and her friend basically interrogating her.
"We have talked about almost everything that has happened to each other." She remembers how Graham reacted when she told him about Glitz and Fenric.
"And that means there have been some uncomfortable conversations."
"Very."
"Anything about a potential relationship."
"Tegan," Ace sighs, "he doesn't feel about me the same way, plus he's still mourning Grace." Tegan doesn't know much about Grace, Graham's departed wife, but knows that she meant a lot to him.
"Have you seen the way he looks at you? By your silence, I take it as a no. He likes you. He also lights up when you walk into the room." She smiles at what Tegan just told her, because Ace didn't realize that Graham had fallen for her too.
'Fond gestures are exchanged
And the organ starts to play
A song that sounds like a death march
And I am hiding in the curtains
It seems that I was uninvited by your lovely bride-to-be
She floats down the aisle like a pageant queen
But I know you wish it was me
You wish it was me
Don't you?'
Ace gets the idea to show the woman that Graham is clearly not interested. She walks up to them. When she gets within reach of Graham with her index, she writes her name on his back. At first, he reacts but once he realizes the name and recognizes the smell of Ace. A unique blend of explosives, jasmine and rose water. She comes in front of him and slides her arms around him and they start to kiss him. His arms move around her, one around her waist the other moves up her back and plays with the ends of her shoulder length hair.
"Excuse me, I was talking to him." The words fall on deaf ears as Ace and Graham fall into their own world wrapped in each other's embrace as the kiss continues to grow deeper. The woman tries to get Graham's attention, but he is focused on the woman in his arms.
'Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
Your time is running out
And they said, "Speak now"
I hear the preacher say, "Speak now or forever hold your peace"
There's the silence, there's my last chance
I stand up with shaky hands, all eyes on me
Horrified looks from everyone in the room
But I'm only looking at you'
"Hello broad, I was talking to him." The woman is getting angrier by the second. Tegan, hearing what the woman just called her friend, marches right to them.
"Can't you see he isn't interested."
"What do you know him? He can't be interested in her." The realtor forgets that Tegan has been with them the whole time.
"I know them both. They have been dancing around each other since they met in October."
"Really? He could have me without any dancing around."
"Want to know something, my friend liked him from the moment they met. She also has one of the biggest hearts I know. Just from the few words we have exchanged, and you didn't notice Graham."
"That's his name?"
"You don't even know his name?" Tegan is angry at the woman now; she had been showing the three of them places for two weeks now and she doesn't remember the Graham's name who she had been trying to flirt with for almost a week; just stepped up her game.
"No."
Stepping closer to her. "Leave now." She turns and leaves in a huff.
'I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion'
"Ok you two you can break apart now." Tegan watches them. "Don't you need to breathe?" After a few more minutes, when she swears, she hears a moan. "I am going to get some water." Tegan leaves the room to find a water fountain and looks for a cup.
'But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl
So don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said, "Speak now"
And you'll say, "Let's run away now"
I'll meet you when I'm out of my tux at the back door'
When Ace and Graham finally break apart. "Wow." Ace says. Tegan enters with a cup of water to see their lips no longer attached.
"You can say that again. You like me?" A bewildered Graham asks.
"Oh Graham," she pauses and removes one of her arms from around his neck and starts to rub his chest as her hazel eyes stare deeply into his blue. "I have liked you since the day we met. Now I fear it's more than like."
Taking one hand away from her back and bringing it to rest on her cheek. "Why fear?"
"Graham, I think I love you."
"That's good news, I love you too. How can I not?" Their heads move closer right before lips meet again water is thrown at them.
"Gordon Bennett." Ace exclaims, turns and finds her friend with a devilish smile plastered on her face. "TEGAN!"
"I don't need to see another make out session. You got your man."
"That I did."
'Baby, I didn't say my vows
So glad you were around
When they said, "Speak now"'
"Hopefully you can have me for the rest of your life."
"Our life's Graham, our life's." They hold hands as the three of them leave the small building they were at. Tegan glad that she hasn't to deal with all the longing looks anymore and her friend flirting so much. "Graham."
"Yes Dear," Tegan holds back a sigh.
"We should get a new realtor."
"I agree, my heart belongs to one, and if I want to kiss her, I will."
"My place?"
"Dorothy!" Tegan is shocked at what her friend just asked.
"Just for kissing Tegan, Graham and I just got together, I love him enough not just to jump in bed right away."
"We can wait for that, a special night maybe."
"Graham, any night would be special. Waiting will make it even better."
