Leah clocked in and walked to her desk as Hank and Ben walked away to talk, setting her bag down and taking her coat off before she put her gun in her right jeans pocket and set her phone out… and looked through her bag, seeing that she didn't lose her airpods like she thought she had.
She looked up after hearing footsteps… and her eyes went wide after she saw Connor and the RK900, her eyes locking with Connor's and her heart beating a little faster.
"Good morning, Officer Anderson." Connor greeted.
Leah tried to form the right words to say but couldn't… and the RK900 turned to Connor.
"I think she's trying to ask why there are two androids here instead of one." RK900 explained, Connor turning to Leah.
"I'll go get you some water." Connor responded before he walked to the break room and Leah allowed her eyes to roam over his frame.
'Goddamn, he's fucking hot.' Leah thought as she inadvertently smacked her lips together.
"Do you know where Captain Fowler's office is?" RK900 asked.
Leah wordlessly pointed to the office, the silver eyed android nodding and walking away… and Connor walking back to Leah, putting the cup of water in her right hand.
Leah slowly brought it up to her mouth after thanking him and carefully drank it.
'I wonder what he'd look like without… no, don't think like that, Leah!' Leah thought before she inadvertently drank the water too fast and couldn't stop coughing as Connor set the half empty cup down and lightly patted her back.
Leah sucked in lungfuls of air, Connor noticing that she was blushing as her eyes once again locked with his.
"I detect a spike in your heart rate. Are you feeling okay?" Connor responded as his left hand remained on her back for a few more seconds.
"Yeah… I'm okay." Leah replied as they sat down, Connor lightly resting his left hand on her right forearm. "I never got to thank you for what you did last night, keeping me from getting shot. Thank you." She explained.
"I'm just glad you're safe." Connor responded before they saw Hank walk over to them. "It's good to see you again, Lieutenant." He replied, Hank rolling his eyes before they heard footsteps.
"Hank! Leah! In my office!" Fowler responded before Hank, Leah and Connor walked to the office and Connor closed the door as Leah and Hank sat down.
Leah glanced at the RK900, the two smiling politely before they looked at Fowler.
"I've got ten new cases involving androids on my desk every day. We've always had isolated incidents, old ladies losing their android maids and that kind of crap." Fowler replied, Connor and the RK900 looking at each other.
"This won't end well…" RK900 responded telepathically.
"Just stay calm, Nines." Connor spoke telepathically, the RK900 nodding at the nickname.
"But now, we're getting reports of assaults and even homicides, like that guy last night… This isn't just CyberLife's problem anymore. It's now a criminal investigation and we've gotta deal with it before the shit hits the fan. I want you to investigate these cases and see if there's any link." Fowler explained.
"Why us? Why do Leah and I gotta be the ones to deal with this shit? I am the least qualified cop in the country to handle this case and Leah's just graduated from the academy! I know jack shit about androids, Jeffrey! I can barely change the settings on my own phone." Hank responded.
"Everybody's overloaded. I think you two are perfectly qualified for this type of investigation." Fowler replied, Hank standing up.
"Bullshit! The truth is nobody wants to investigate these fuckin' androids and you left me holdin' the bag!" Hank retorted.
'How did these two ever become friends?' Leah thought with an eye roll at the arguing.
"CyberLife sent over these androids to help with the investigation. They are state-of-the-art prototypes, Connor will act as your partner and the RK900 will be assigned to Gavin." Fowler responded.
"No fuckin' way! Leah and I don't need a partner, and certainly not this plastic prick!" Hank yelled after he stood up, Hank looking at Leah. "Right, kiddo?" He asked.
"We need all the help we can get. And Connor saved me from getting killed last night." Leah explained.
"Hank, you are seriously starting to piss me off! You are a police lieutenant, you are supposed to do what I say and shut your goddamn mouth!" Fowler retorted, Hank looking back at him.
"You know what my goddamn mouth has to say to you?!" Hank snapped.
"Okay. I'll pretend like I didn't hear that, so I don't have to add any more pages to your disciplinary folder 'cause it already looks like a fuckin' novel! This conversation is over!" Jeffrey responded, Hank turning infuriated and placing his hands on the desk.
"Jeffrey, Jesus Christ! Why are you doin' this to me?! You know how much I hate these fuckin' things! Why you doin' this to me?!" Hank retorted, Fowler turning frustrated.
"Listen, I've had just about enough of your bitching. Either you do your job or you hand in your badge. Now if you four will excuse me, I've got work to do." Fowler responded.
Hank slammed the door, Leah flinching and briefly closing her eyes as her mind flashed back to the gunshot from last night and Connor lightly rubbed her right shoulder.
Leah placed her right hand on his left hand and Fowler turned to Nines.
"Detective Reed will likely be in the break room when he comes back, Nines." Fowler explained.
The three left, Connor and Leah looking at each other as Nines walked away and into the break room.
Gavin looked away from Tina and at Nines, turning startled.
'Shit… so this is what Fowler meant by assigning me a new partner.' Gavin thought.
He nodded at Tina to leave and she did before Gavin stood up and walked to Nines.
"Hello, Detective Reed." Nines greeted.
"First Connor shows up, now they send you. What model are you?" Gavin responded.
"RK900. I'm a prototype." Nines explained before Gavin saw Leah.
"Another android detective." Gavin responded, briefly pointing at Nines before he turned back to him. "So machines are gonna… replace us all. Is that it? Bring me a coffee, dipshit." He replied.
Nines gave him a blank look, Gavin turning irritated.
"Get a move on!" Gavin demanded.
Connor walked over to where Leah was, placing his right hand on her back and Gavin turned to him.
"Get your hands off of her!" Gavin retorted.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not authorized to answer you. If you have any questions, please contact your superior." Connor responded, Gavin walking towards them until Nines pulled him back.
"There will be no violence towards our co-workers, Detective." Nines replied firmly before they walked towards Gavin's desk and Leah and Connor walked to the three desks, Connor scanning everything on Hank's and Leah's desks.
"I'm… sorry I bothered you at the bar last night, Lieutenant. I guess I ruined your evening." Connor responded.

"If I'm ever drinking again, just call a taxi for me and take Leah to the crime scene." Hank explained, Connor nodding.
He sat down at his new desk and thought about the fur he saw on the chair and on Leah's jeans.
"You two have a dog, right?" Connor asked, startling them.
"How do you know that?" Hank responded.
"The dog hairs on your chair and her clothes." Connor explained, Leah brushing the fur off. "I like dogs. What's your dog's name?"
"What's it to you?" Hank grumbled, Leah looking at Connor.
"Sumo. We call him Sumo." Leah responded.

"If you have any files on deviants, I'd like to take a look at them." Connor replied, Hank looking at him in annoyance.
"Terminal's on your desk. Knock yourself out." Hank responded.
Connor and Leah pulled up the files, Connor seeing Leah's eyes widen as she stopped at one file about Markus.
"It's not seen as self defense… that's complete bullshit." Leah replied.
"Watch your mouth, kid." Hank responded.
"243 files… first one reported dates back nine months. It all started in Detroit and quickly spread across the country." Connor spoke up after looking through the rest of the files before he turned to Leah and Hank. "An AX400 is reported to have assaulted a man last night. That could be a good starting point for our investigation." He explained.
Hank picked up a tablet as Connor stood up and walked to him.
"You shouldn't let your personal situation hamper the investigation, Lieutenant." Connor responded.
"You don't know what the hell you're talking about! So why don't you just run your program and shut the fuck up?!" Hank snapped, Connor seeing Leah glare at Hank… and Connor turning back to Hank.
"I suggest you sort out your personal issues and let me work with someone more competent!" Connor responded lowly.
Hank growled, stood up and grabbed Connor by his CyberLife jacket and slamming him against the white board as Leah stood up.
"Listen, asshole! If it was up to me, I'd throw the lot of you in a dumpster and set a match to it! So, stop pissing me off! Or things are gonna get nasty!" Hank threatened before Leah pulled him off of Connor.
"This stops now, Hank! Your misplaced anger because of what happened to-" Leah responded angrily.
"Don't you dare say his name, especially since you were the one driving-" Hank retorted before they saw Chris walk over.
"Sorry to disturb you three. I have some information on the AX400 that attacked the guy last night... It's been seen in the Ravendale district." Chris explained.
"We're on it." Hank responded, leaving and Leah and Connor following him after Leah grabbed her phone and put it in her coat pocket before she put her coat back on.
Leah closed her eyes for a few seconds in the back seat of the car as Hank drove… and Hank knew he had hurt her by blaming her for the car crash that killed Cole.
