Six Paths: Planetary Devastation, a sealing of unparalleled power and scale. Compared to the meteors that could be made by Planetary Devastation alone, the product of this was sure to be a new celestial body; An entire moon. That was by design, of course, as the technique was created to contain something as powerful as a goddess. When the order was as tall as an immortal and all powerful being, something as large as a moon was the minimum that could suffice.
Naruto and Sasuke placed their right and left hands against the sides of Kaguya Otsutsuki. In doing so, they transferred a pair of seals, the Sun and Moon seals, onto her body and the technique began to activate. Once again, the Rabbit Goddess and progenitor of all chakra in the world was being imprisoned inside of the ultimate seal. The red and third eye which sat in the middle of her forehead began to face, covered by skin that resembled a crescent moon and a sun. She started to scream as her body began expanding. Her excessively large oriental robes were quickly filled by white flesh and she no longer resembled a human being like she did a moment ago.
At the same time, the red ground below was starting to fragment, and enormous chunks of rock were being pulled towards the expanding monster that was Kaguya Otsutsuki. It piled on and on, and a meteor was starting to form.
Ten Tails were protruding from Kaguya's monstrous body, each end resembling an animal of a hybrid thereof. Of them, nine were able to separate from the main body and regain the colours they once had. Naruto felt a great sense of accomplishment well within him. He and the rest of Team 7 successfully freed the nine tailed beasts, though sadly it was maybe the third time he had to do so in just a single day. Still, seeing all of them together: Shukaku, Matatabi, Isobu, Son Goku, Kokuo, Saiken, Chomei, Gyuki, and of course, Kurama, brought a smile to his face.
A smile, as well as about ten thousand red boulders the size of entire houses, the planetoid was the size of a mountain and it wasn't anywhere near done growing. Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura were going to need to get down, and quickly.
Naruto was in the middle of a long jump as he thought that. He'd run his chakra reserves to near empty, and fell out of his chakra cloak. And while he thought about how excited he was to reunite with the Yang half of Kurama, his lifelong partner up until about an hour ago, he also noticed that a particularly large slab of stone was moving in his exact path. But before he had the opportunity to think anything more of it, it already slammed into his face first, and everything went black.
And black it remained. Even after he regained consciousness, he couldn't see anything but pure and undiluted darkness. There was no sky, no ground, nothing. He couldn't even see the oddly colored green sky that permeated the dimension he was just fighting in.
Where am I? Naruto thought to himself. He tried to open his eyes, and nothing changed. Everything was still black, which could only mean one thing.
"Did I go blind?!" He shouted, and then heard own question echo repeatedly. He quickly plugged his own ears until the echo died down. It confirmed at least one thing for him. Wherever he was, it was fairly large and empty.
Then he had an idea. To know for sure if he was blind or not, he had to test whether he could see anything. Since there wasn't anything like a light bulb or a torch, though, he had to be a little creative.
Naruto quickly gathered chakra into his right hand, and rotated it in several directions simultaneously. His chakra quickly coalesced into a bright yellow ball about the size of his fist. He could see the color clearly, a little too clearly actually. He had to raise his other hand to shield his eyes, which were nearly flashbanged by himself. If nothing else, though, it meant he didn't actually lose his sight yet. His eyes were still working plenty, which meant that they weren't the problem. The real problem, however, was still very much present and all-encompassing in more ways than one. He still had no idea where he was, and the darkness and utter silence didn't help one bit.
Using his rasengan as a makeshift torch, Naruto began walking in a straight line. His footsteps echoed quietly, all confirming that he was inside of an enclosed space. The sound of his footsteps, though, were a little concerning. After a few minutes he stopped walking, because he realized what the sound of his footsteps were. He was standing on smoothened rock.
"Did I get trapped?!" He shouted with his hands on his head, which very quickly slid down to his ears as his voice was once again bounced off of every surface it could.
After the sound dissipated, he gathered his bearings. He had to make sure of where he was, so he slowed himself down to a halt, a complete and perfect stop. Not a muscle in his body moved; not a single twitch or fidget. It took another few seconds, but before long, he felt the influx of powerful natural energy. It melded easily with his chakra, granting him the power and pupils of the toads of Mt. Myoboko. What he saw through his enhanced senses and attunement with nature itself, was a massive spherical object. It was far larger than just a mountain. It might have been the size of a country or even greater, and he was inside of it, near the very center.
Of course, that's what happened. He and his team were about to make their way out of Kaguya's dimension, although come to think of it, how were they even supposed to get out in the first place? It's not like they had any ninjutsu that could take them back on their own, as well as all of the tailed beasts. Maybe he could have reversed summoned himself with the help of the toads. After all, Sasuke was able to summon a hawk when they were in the lava dimension. Surely Gamakichi or Gamabunta would be able to help him, although he might have to apologize for such a short-lived reason. He might even get mocked for getting trapped in a Planetary Devastation yet again, but he'd much rather be ridiculed than being stuck forever.
Naruto bit the skin of his thumb enough to draw blood, and poured some of his chakra into the summoning jutsu, and yet nothing seemed to happen. Naruto grunted in dissatisfaction, and tried again, but once more, he couldn't even manage a small toad or a puff of smoke.
It's not working? His alarms started to ring. The stone prison he was being held in cut him off from the outside world in more ways than one.
"Oi, Kurama. You there?" Naruto asked, hoping that at least his partner was still with him.
"Yeah, I'm here." Naruto heard and sighed with relief. Sadly, Kurama wasn't done. "A stupid question, don't you think?"
Of course, if Kurama was not inside of him, then he would have died. As a Jinchuriki, that was something he'd known for a very long time.
"Right, how do we get out of here?"
"I don't know."
"Huh?" Naruto lifted his head to look at Kurama inside his own mental landscape. The massive orange fox, unfortunately, was neither smiling nor laughing in jest. He was completely serious, and Naruto could tell even if he didn't want to believe it.
"This jutsu was created by the old man. We can't do anything about it." Kurama explained with certainty, and a bit of dismay.
"But we're in here with the giant statue things aren't we? How did Obito summon that thing before but we can't summon things in here?" Naruto asked as calmly as he could.
"They had the Rinnegan, and you don't." Kurama said simply.
It made Naruto's heart sink with realization. If that was the case, then there was definitely no way he'd be able to get out. There wasn't any way for him to summon into, or be summoned out of, the planetoid prison, there was no way that he was going to be able to just sit on or inside the Gedo Statue and wait for Sasuke to summon it, if he ever did that is. Of course he wouldn't, after all the effort they'd gone through just to get here in the first place.
In fact, Naruto turned his attention further outward, towards the area surrounding his prison. It was the battlefield of him and his team, and Kaguya, but it was empty. He couldn't sense Sasuke, or anyone for that matter. It was like everyone, including the tailed beasts, had somehow vanished into thin air. His mouth wobbled incredulously, but he had little to say. Did they wander off? Were they able to escape without him? He didn't know. He didn't even know how long he'd been unconscious for. All that he knew was that he was trapped in a massive ball of rock that was probably impossible to escape
Not that he wouldn't try, that is.
Shadow Clone Jutsu! He thought with his fingers crossed, quite literally. Puffs of smoke appeared in the dozens if not hundreds, and equally as many copies of himself were ready to go. Thankfully, some of his chakra recharged. Each of their hands formed a rasengan in their palms, each made with the power of his six paths sage chakra.
All at once they drove the spiralling spheres I to the ground beneath them, trying to grind their way through the stone. The rasengan was good for pulverising large bodies with brute force. He could probably use a massive rasengan to tunnel through a mountain if he wanted to. But as the spheres met the stone of the planetoid, they couldn't even leave a mark. They all tried again, using the chakra they had left to make one last attempt. They slammed their jutsus into the ground and pushed as hard as they could, but the floor remained strong and unaffected. Having exhausted themselves in the process, the shadow clones disappeared into smoke.
"That didn't work either?" Naruto said to himself dejected. He thought that he could make even a tiny dent. If he could, all he had to do was keep trying. Him and Kurama could keep gathering chakra and making shadow clones until they managed to break through.
More than that, he thought that since the sealing jutsu was cast using the chakra of the old man of six paths, and he also had the chakra of the old man, his jutsu would work. But as he lamented this failure, he heard Kurama's deep and ridicule-charged chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Naruto snapped.
"You don't have his chakra anymore. Look at your hand." Kurama instructed.
Naruto looked at his palms, before realizing that there still wasn't any light. So instead, he closed his eyes and sensed his own chakra. Kurama was right. While he still held a fragment of each of the tailed beasts in him, the comparatively massive level of chakra that previously sat in his right hand was missing. That was the power that the Sage of Six Paths lent to him to defeat Madara and Kaguya.
"So summoning won't work and we don't have enough chakra. We still have Six Paths power though, so we just need to gather more chakra right?" Naruto asked curiously.
"That isn't the problem. This jutsu is a continuously active type. Once it's been cast, it won't ever deactivate. This prison will remain strong forever." Kurama replied.
But Naruto rewound through his memories. He remembered when he and Killer Bee fought against Nagato and Itachi. Nagano nearly trapped them in a normal Planetary Devastation, but they were able to escape. Combining a rasenshuriken, a tailed beast bomb, and Itachi's Susanoo, they were able to destroy the jutsu's core.
"The… the core…" Naruto mumbled in sudden realization.
"You figured it out. The core of this jutsu is the Gedo Statue."
And as long as the Gedo Statue remained where it was and how it was, nothing could be done. Without removing it, Naruto was certain to be trapped forever. It was truly ironic. Naruto and Kurama fought together for so long and against so much, for each other and for the other tailed beasts, so that they could be free and he could achieve his dream. Now here the two of them sat, trapped and unable to escape from a prison they themselves fought to build.
Naruto frowned, unsure of what to do. He didn't know if there was anything he even could do for that matter. He didn't know what happened to his friends either. He couldn't sense Sasuke like he could before, or Sakura, or Kakashi. Were they able to escape? Were they able to undo the Infinite Tsukuyomi? Were they able to save everyone? Naruto didn't have a clue, and there was no way to know.
But he couldn't accept that. He couldn't just lay down and surrender to this kind of ending. It may have been the right move. It was probably smart to just do nothing even if he didn't like it. He might have lost personally, but surely his friends could find a way to fix everything. He didn't like to admit it, but the others were ever so slightly better academics than he was, so they could figure out a solution for releasing everyone. With that assumption, sacrificing his own future was definitely the wisest choice.
But his heart couldn't settle with that thought. There was no way he was going to be able to put down his dream, not after all this. He still needed to become the Hokage. He still needed to see the peace he and so many others fought and died for, for himself. He needed to see all of his friends too. Hinata was probably also worried about him. She was always a caring person. He couldn't just give up. He promised to never give up.
He sat down and crossed his legs. He held his body perfectly still and gathered as much chakra and natural energy as he could and as quickly as he could. He was able to refill the amount he used up a moment ago, and continued to amass more and more. Kurama observed curiously, wondering what his Jinchuriki had planned, before joining in to assist. They were both collecting massive amounts of chakra, even though they shared a single body. His eye color changed behind his eyelids, from normal blue to yellow, and his pupils changed as well into cross-shaped slits. Although the rest of his body was unaffected, as he was not entering normal Sage Mode. He'd entered Six Paths Sage Mode instead.
Eventually, he'd reached the limit that his physical body could carry, which unsurprisingly was a monstrous amount. Not including Kurama, his own chakra reserves were more than a hundred times bigger than Kakashi, according to the man himself, and that was a long time ago. He might even compare to a tailed beast himself. If he created an avatar, he could probably gather even more chakra, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to make one while inside such a confined space. Instead, with all of the chakra he held, he started walking.
"What are you planning?" Kurama asked suspiciously. To some degree he'd already had a clue what the answer was.
"I think there's one thing I might be able to try." Naruto said. The direction he was walking took him towards the very center of the planetoid, where a source of powerful, foreboding, but nonspecific chakra sat.
"Are you really that stupid?" Kurama asked rhetorically.
Even the fragments of the other eight tailed beasts agreed with Kurama; Not a common occurrence by any stretch. What Naruto could do might jeopardize everything they'd been working for, everything the Sage of Six Paths had sacrificed. Compared to that, they didn't think that this confinement was that bad. They already spent countless years like that anyway. But at the same time, they all felt what Naruto felt. They could read his thoughts and knew his sincerity. Even they had things they were willing to endanger their own freedoms for, but Naruto made a vow. He was going to free them, bring peace to everyone, and he was going to keep his promise no matter how dangerous it was.
"Sorry, Kurama, everyone, but I can't give up without trying." Naruto said as he got closer and closer to the resting Gedo Statue.
"This really is going to kill us." Kurama said with almost complete certainty.
"It might, but even so…"
Naruto finally stopped walking. He'd reached the right foot of the statue, and he started to climb.
"This is your worst idea you've ever had." The fragment of Gyuki said disapproving.
"It's dumber than anything that any Jinchuriki ever has." The fragment of Shukaku mocked.
"It's too far even for the monkey king himself." The fragment of Sun Goku declared.
He knew. Even he had no choice but to agree with them, but his arms and legs were still carrying him up onto the leg of the statue. They all knew that he was going to try, no matter how much they insulted him. That was who he was, after all. Any of the scorn they could offer was like the very oxygen he breathed. There was one thing, though, that the seven tailed Chomei felt obligated to ask rather than just say.
"Why don't you fly, instead of climb?" The only tailed beast that was capable of flight asked.
There was silence, both internal and external as nobody spoke and Naruto stopped moving. The face he was making was one of complete emptiness.
"This one…" All tailed beasts other than Kurama groaned in an immaculate chorus.
Without a word, Naruto's body floated away from the statue and he began to ascend upwards. He didn't want to say a thing anymore. Once he reached the wide open mouth of the statue, his chakra rose and cloaked him in black clothes and a golden jacket. He was careful to work with the chakra he had, the chakra of the tailed beasts in specific. Other than Kurama, he only had some of each of the others. Luckily, he didn't need a lot from each of them anyways. After all, one tentacle from Gyuki was enough for the Ten Tails the first time after all. He was thankful that, despite what they had to say, they lent him their strength nonetheless. They all knew that arguing with words would have been just a waste of time.
His plan was simple. If he inserted some of each tailed beast's chakra, the end product would logically be the Ten Tails, which would technically change what the core of the sealing jutsu was centered around. Based on what Kurama told him, that should at least weaken the jutsu. Then, he could use the technique that the Sage of Six Paths gave him to separate Ten Tails just like the Sage himself did. He still didn't completely understand how it worked, and he didn't have the old man's chakra anymore, but he remembered how he felt when he used it.
Naruto inhaled and exhaled, putting his focus entirely on the moment and what he was about to do. The tailed beasts lent their respective aid and placed their chakra into his hands like they were an adult handing some pocket money to a young child.
Here goes nothing. Naruto thought as he held his breath and extended his hands. The coalesced chakra leapt from his hands and into the statue's mouth, and after a few seconds, a reaction started. The several eyes on the statue's face opened and it started to tremble. Naruto could feel its own chakra rising rapidly, but there wasn't any time to waste. He needed to time himself perfectly, at least, he didn't want to be trapped in an enclosure with Ten Tails any longer than he absolutely had to. Whether it was going to be stronger or weaker than the one he'd fought before, the less he had to deal with it at all, the better.
He acted within a fraction of a second, just as the already massive statue started to malform and mutate. He put his hands against its revitalising flesh and channelled the power of Yin-Yang release.
Just like before, how I did it with Kakashi-sensei and Bushier Brow sensei. He affirmed for himself.
He was able to restore Kakashi's eye by drawing information from his own body. It knew what it should have been, even when it wasn't. Recreating the eye he should have had, restoring Might Guy's heart and chakra to how they should have been, was as easy as putting on a pair of shoes. Restoring the tailed beasts from the Ten Tails should be just as easy then. How couldn't it?
He heard the first breath of the monstrous beast and felt its eye open wide, but it would not get a chance to do any more than that. His technique was already underway, and the creature was barely able to yelp. Like wet clay it deformed again, shifting and flowing as per Naruto's instruction. It was working, Ten Tails was shrinking rapidly and the chakra signature was changing. Naruto could feel it becoming smaller and different… a little smaller than he was expecting actually.
"Naruto!" Naruto heard Kurama's voice shout at him, forcing him to open his eyes in a jolt.
"Huh? What? What's happeni-" Naruto asked, but cut himself off immediately as he realized that something was wrong.
Ten Tails was gone, having been condensed into a much smaller size. It wasn't changing into its second or third stage either. But the pure white ball that it became was too small for even one of the tailed beasts. At first, he thought maybe it was just an egg from which the tailed beasts would hatch from like newborns. After all, they'd been smaller before at some point in their lives.
But that thought was quickly dashed away as the sphere shrunk more, and started to change shape as well. It didn't grow any tails, but instead, a pair of human arms and legs. Alarm bells were, at that moment, blaring like they'd never rang before as the form of a very recently familiar person took shape.
Crap! Naruto panicked as he took a defensive stance.
The person's pale silver hair extended to the length of her entire body, but this time, Naruto made sure to keep his distance to not get caught. He also took the moment to create a squad of shadow clones in preparation. A long white dress, highlighted by purple and gold, took shape over the white skinned and horned woman's body. Just like that, what the Ten Tails should have been, Kaguya Otsutsuki, was restored.
