Chapter 30
Broken Change
U.S.J
Katsuki stood there as he was staring intensely at the place where it all happened, he stood there pissed, ready to explode. The scene kept replaying over and over again, it haunted him to this day. If only he was fast enough, if only his explosion were more concentrated that day, then he could've…
"Bakugou?"
He turned to see Kirishima and Todoroki behind him as they looked at him with worry.
"You alright bro?"
Katsuki just stayed silent as he turned to them as he started to walk toward them, "I'm fine, Shitty Hair,"
Todoroki knew what was going on in the explosive boy's mind, the torment of not being able to save his rival. "We should head back before Aizawa-Sensei thinks we went off to find Midoriya,"
"Yeah, don't wanna be wrapped around those scarves again right Baku-bro?" Kirishima tried to lighten the mood but Katsuki just stayed silent as he kept walking past them. The two other students looked at each other as they sighed and followed behind him. But little did they know, a purple particle started to appear behind them.
With Izuku
Izuku held Chelsea tightly as he wrapped Black Whip around her waist, trying to keep the blood from leaking out but Izuku also noticed her right arm was cut clean off. Izuku felt so much rage built up inside of him. So much has happened all in one day.
He felt his blood boil in rage, his heart racing in quick beats. Chelsea then lifted her left hand up to his face.
"Well…this is…awkward…hehe…" she weakly gasped as she was slowly starting to lose consciousness.
"Chelsea, don't talk, I'll get you back to the base, they'll patch you up," Izuku was worried.
The image of Helios popped up in his head as he held Chelsea. He gritted his teeth under his mouth guard as he then felt something stab in his head again as he quickly turned and moved to the right as a sword was stabbed down to the ground.
Izuku looked at the assailant as he couldn't help but felt like she was somewhat familiar.
Kurome pulled her sword out of the ground as she kept laughing maniacally. A dark aura surrounded her and she stared down at Izuku.
"You're the Vigilante Deku, aren't you," her eyes were crazed as the dark aura grew intense.
The stabbing feeling never left Izuku, in fact it was like an alarm to him, whatever was going on, the girl emitted so much killing intent that Izuku's senses were getting overloaded.
She then held her sword with both hands as she shifted her blade to her left side as she then dashed at him.
Izuku got ready as he charged up 30% Full Cowling as he then was about to launch an Air Force kick but then when he looked at the girl. It clicked to him, the girl in front of him, was a sparkling image of Akame. He widened his eyes as he then jumped back as she relentlessly slashed at him.
Izuku notice that she was getting slower each swing as he then jumped back far enough as he then swung his right leg, creating a massive wind blast that pushed her back. Izuku then used this as a chance to escape.
Izuku then slammed his right on the ground, creating an explosion of dirt, uplifting the nearby flowers around him as Kurome covered her face as she then looked at the dust cloud as she then charged as slashed her sword in the cloud, only to disperse the cloud, hitting nothing but air.
Kurome looked around as she then saw Izuku jumping away from her, she tried to chase after them but then she felt her body give out on her as she then fell to the floor.
Her body was aching, her breathing started to become erratic as she then felt the world around her start to spin. She needed her treats, her cookies, it was the only way to help her. She tried to crawl but her body was too weak. Her vision started to blackout. She dug her hands into the dirt as she clenched her teeth.
"Not…yet…"
She felt her eyes start to get heavy as she slowly closed her eyes. That last thing she heard was her name being called out.
With Izuku
Izuku quickly zooms through the forest, while also using Black Whip to boost himself. Izuku then jumped in the air as high as he could as he had a vein of the forest. He held Chelsea close to his chest as he continued to fly through the forest.
Chelsea looked at Izuku as she had a lot going on right now. She couldn't really see his face due to his mask and the mouth guard he wore. Chelsea noticed how his hands were burnt and bleeding as well as his gauntlets being slightly cracked.
Chelsea then gripped his suit as Izuku looked down on her, "Izuku…you're…hurt too…" she weakly mentioned, her eyes were getting heavy, she felt fatigued as so much blood was lost. She could faint any minute now.
"I'm fine, right now we need to get you back to base so they can help you," Izuku said.
The wind was rushing past them as Izuku was jumping at a high speed. As the wind blew, his mask blew off as she got a look at his face. She gulped as he had a look of confusion and sadness in his eyes and the worst of all.
Betrayal.
She knew it was for the sake of the Operation but seeing his face hurt her. This was the first time she ever saw him like this. She was used to the shy but courageous boy that she usually saw. Always helping others. Chelsea looked at the boy as she felt tears rising up.
"I'm…sorry…"
Izuku's grip slightly tightened on her as he then shook his head, he didn't say anything as he then felt an intense pain in his shoulder as he looked at his shoulder, it started to bleed, his wound from where he was tortured started to open up. Chelsea noticed this as she tried to speak up but Izuku kept going. Not wanting to stop, fearing the worst for her.
He couldn't fail to save them again, he wouldn't let it happen again, not this time.
Chelsea tightened the grip on his suit, she looked out forward as she saw the little cabin that was built temporarily for Night Raid.
She tugged on his suit, "Izuku…over…there," she pointed out with her left hand.
Izuku looked at the direction where she pointed to see the cabin. Izuku didn't know why she pointed there but it was the only option for now.
With Night Raid
Akame looked at the necklace that Izuku gave to her, it broke during the explosion, she caressed it as she frowned.
A gift from him and she broke it, she bit her lip in frustration, they didn't complete the Operation, she didn't know where Bols went or Kurome. Akame sighed in frustration as she then placed the necklace on the table.
"Hey don't be sad Akame, I'm sure we can get someone to fix it," Tatsumi reassured her.
She nodded as she smiled, "Yeah…"
"Oh come on Bestie, where's your smile, no one died and plus, I'm sure that Bols couldn't have survived that explosion in one piece," Leone tried to reassure her.
"How's your arm?" Tatsumi asked.
Leone just waved her right numb of an arm around, "Don't worry, Lionelle will regenerate my arm in no time,"
Akame nodded as she then saw the door open to see Najenda, Sheele, Lubbock, and Mein.
Akame stood up as she turned to the boss, "Did you take Eri back?"
Najenda nodded, "Susanoo is taking care of her right now,"
Akame nodded as she grabbed her right arm and squeezed it tight.
Najenda had a solemn look, "Though we may have not completed the mission, I was informed by Lubbock that Chelsea went to go finish off our targets,"
Tatsumi looked at Najenda with a stern look, Akame looked at the boss as well as she nodded.
"Akame, Tatsumi, make sure you bring back Chelsea," Najenda ordered them as they nodded as they grabbed their equipment.
"Roger!"
The three walked out of the cabin as it was pouring outside. Najenda looked at the two, "Don't get spotted, the Jaegers could be anywhere, especially Esdeath,"
They nodded, Lubbock walled out as he run up to the three, "I forgot to tell you that she should be by the town, that's where I last-"
Before he could finish, they heard the wind howling as if something was heading straight towards them. Akame and Tatsumi got into a stance as they heard where the sound was coming from. Najenda looked at the direction as well as she was ready.
Then something landed in front of them as the wind blew as they held their stance. Akame looked at the cloud as she saw a figure walk out of the cloud of dust. She widened her eyes in shock and so did the others as well.
Najenda cursed herself as she knew this would happen, Izuku stood there in front of them, his hair covering his eyes, drenched in rain. Tatsumi was about to say something but he noticed Chelsea in his arms.
He widened his eyes in horror as she was barely breathing, she was covered in blood and she was looking worse than before.
"Chelsea… she needs help…" Izuku spoke first. Lubbock and Tatsumi rushed forward as Izuku unwrapped Black Whip around her waist. They grabbed her out of his arms as they noticed that she was missing a right arm.
"I'll bring her inside…" Lubbock said as he carried her inside.
Tatsumi looked at him as he then turned to Izuku. He didn't move nor did he speak. It was silent, all you could hear was the rain. The two behind Tatsumi approached the duo as they looked at Izuku. He was shaking furiously, trying to contain his anger, his confusion, his rage.
Akame looked at him with worry as she then noticed blood seeping out of his gauntlets and his shoulder was bleeding as well. She widened her eyes in horror, she walked up to him as she tried to grab his hand. But he shifted away from her, taking a step back.
"What's going on… what the hell happened…" Izuku questioned.
Akame froze as she felt the guilt inside her, but that didn't stop her from taking her eyes away from Izuku. She tried to say something, anything really but nothing came out.
Najenda placed her hand on her shoulder as she stepped closer to Izuku.
"There was a separate mission we had, this was a top priority for the Revolutionary Army," Najenda explained.
"This mission was to eliminate the two Jaegers, Bols and Kurome, a threat to the cause. We didn't tell you because it would've hindered you from doing your mission,"
Izuku clenched his fist tightly as he was trying to lose it.
"Tell me the truth…why didn't you tell me…" Izuku's voice was low and filled with confusion and rage.
It was silent as Akame and Tatsumi felt the tension rise.
"Because, you would've not agreed with this mission at all, jeopardizing the mission-!" Before Najenda could finish.
Izuku threw a punch at her, Najenda widened her eyes as she instinctively blocked it with her right arm. She skidded back a bit but was stopped by Tatsumi.
"Hey Izuku what was-"
"AND BECAUSE OF THAT, CHELSEA ALMOST DIED!" He shouted.
Najenda looked at the boy as she saw his eyes now. Devoided of any light, he was lost and confused. Those were the eyes of betrayal.
"Do you have any idea what would've happened if I didn't show up in time?"
Izuku's fears played in his mind, the thought lingered in his head. When he arrived where Chelsea was, she was about to be decapitated. Izuku shook his head, he didn't want to see that end result for her, for neither of them. He looked at them. The thought of them dying in front of him. He looked at Akame, and the fear grew. The thought of her dying in front of him.
He wanted to be there when they needed him, to protect them, to save them.
He remembered what Kitsune told him, the fact that Night Raid was destined to die. Izuku knew why, the path that they took. But that's why he stayed, to save them, to prevent that from happening.
Najenda looked at the boy, she knew that he would react like this. But in order for the Revolutionary Army to win this fight, to end this corruption.
"Tell me Izuku, if we did inform you about the Operation, would you let us do our jobs," she asked.
Izuku widened his eyes as he looked at her. Najenda looked at him with a stern look in her eyes.
"I… wouldn't…"
Najenda sighed, "Izuku, I made sure that you weren't involved, you're against killing. That's why I sent you away, so that you wouldn't be burdened with death in your hands,"
"But still-!" Izuku tried to argue but it was true, he thought about it, even if he knew about it, he would go against it, he would've tried to stop them from killing them.
"Izuku, I'm truly sorry but the Empire leaves us with no choice, sometimes, we have to make hard decisions."
Izuku clenched his fist, he knew she was right, but still, he wanted to try to make a difference. But he experienced it first hand how cruel the Empire was, how corrupt the officials were. He watched his comrades get tortured and him as well. And yet, he felt betrayed still, for being kept in the dark. The same feeling when he was notified that Mirio was supposed to hold One for All. He had the right to know, now that he was involved with the world.
"But…"
Najenda looked at the boy as the boy had a cold look in his eyes, "I am your Auxiliary, to help with search and rescues, to help Night Raid out of any situations,"
Najenda froze as she looked at the hero.
"What's the point of me being the Auxiliary if I can't do my job!" Izuku argued.
Najenda stayed silent as the two stared at each other for a long period of time. Izuku then walked forward, as Najenda stood there, the hero walked past her as he headed towards the cabin.
"I'm…going to check…on…Chel…"
Before Izuku could continue, he fainted as he fell to the floor. Akame and Tatsumi widened their eyes.
"Izuku!"
They ran up to him as they turned him over, to see his right shoulder was bleeding and a few cuts and burns on his body.
"Take him inside, I call the doctor over," Najenda ordered them.
They nodded as Akame and Tatsumi grabbed his arms as they carried him inside.
Najenda stood outside as she then stared up into the sky as the rain hit her face. She placed her hand on her face as she gritted her teeth.
"Damn it…"
As the two walked inside, Lubbock and Sheele did their best to bandage Chelsea up, her abdomen was covered in medical bandages as her arm was tightly wrapped as well, so she wouldn't lose any blood.
"That should do it for now, but we should take her back to HQ to get a full treatment," Sheele said.
Lubbock nodded as he did his best to bandage her by using what they had.
They heard footsteps as they turned to see Akame and Tatsumi carrying Izuku, out cold. They laid him on the table as Sheele came over.
"He has a lot of wounds, do you have any spare bandages," Tatsumi asked.
Sheele nodded, "This is all we have for now,"
Akame then skillfully took off his suit as she saw his body, she widened her eyes in horror as his body was riddled with cuts and burns and the huge stab wound on his shoulder.
She grabbed a wet cloth as she then started to clean the blood off and gently tried to wipe off the blood away from the wounds.
She looked at Izuku's face as her expression saddened. When she was wiping him down, she heard a clack on the floor. She looked down to see the necklace that he wore on him, the ruby necklace that he kept. It was shattered, she picked it up. She stared at it as she grabbed her own that Izuku gave her. Both necklaces were broken, like how Izuku's trust in them was broken.
Akame placed the necklaces down as she then proceeded to bandage Izuku.
Najenda walked in as she dried herself, she walked in as she saw everyone treating the injured. She glanced at Izuku as she noticed the cuts and burns. Whatever he had gone through, it was clear that once he woke up, he was going to be different from now on. The Izuku that they first met was now gone.
With Izuku's Mind
Izuku slowly opened his eyes as he was in the void space again, but this time it appeared to be in a room that had eight chairs, all forming a U in front of him.
6 chairs were occupied, he recognized some of the people that were sitting in them. The one in the middle with long gray hair that touched his shoulders,a frail body, the First User of One for All. He looked around to see the same bald headed man he met when he awakened Black Whip. He then saw a man white hair and a scar running down the right side of his face. Then another man was sitting next to him, he wore a red turtleneck jacket that covered his mouth, he had Black hair and gray eyes. Then the next one sitting next to him was a woman who was well built. She had Black hair as well but purple eyes with a mole on the left side of her mouth.
"Ninth, it's been awhile," the First called out.
Izuku looked at him with dead eyes. He noticed two people standing in the back facing away from him. They wore some kind of battle uniform, the one on the left of Izuku had ginger spiky hair and the other had turquoise hair that was tied into a spiked up ponytail.
"Wha…amf…I…doinf…herf,"
(What am I doing here?)
"Hmm, it seems you can't talk right now," the bald headed guy scratched his chin.
"Ninth, my name is Yoichi Shigaraki,"
Izuku looked at the man, the brother of All for One. Izuku stared at him with intent.
"Ninth, no Izuku Midoriya, this world that you've been brought to is cruel and dark, it's not the same as ours,"
Izuku stood there as he just looked down.
The gingerly hair man turned around as he looked at Izuku, he walked up to him as Izuku looked at the man. He got a close look at his face as his face had a scar that was across his nose diagonally.
"Kid, it's time for you to decide,"
Izuku looked at him as the man had a disapproving look on his face.
"Whether if you have the resolve to kill,"
The room fell silent as Izuju felt the weight of the question.
"You were brutally tortured and you witnessed your comrades get tortured as well, even almost losing your friend." The man said.
Izuku clenched his right hand, not wanting to remember it but it was lingering in his mind.
"If you can't kill, you can't hope to defeat All for One, our enemy, tell me kid, can you take a life? Are you willing to make that quick decision when someone's life is on the line?"
Izuku looked at him as he looked around to see the other users looking at him with intent and curiosity. He then saw a flame wisp shaped as a person but it was familiar, he widened his eyes to see All Might's vestige.
He remembered why he achieved this power, but in this world, killing was the only known thing. No one was saving anyone, they were left to die. That's why he knew his answer, to continue being that person that he aspired to be.
He looked at the man. His mouth fully formed, "I... don't know if I can make that choice..."
The Second looked at the kid as he sighed in disappointment, " This is why-"
"But this isn't what this power was cultivated for,"
The room became silent as the vestige of All Might widened his eyes. Izuku looked at everyone in the room, "You and everyone in this room, gave your lives to cultivate this power so that the right person can wield it and make a change, and that started with All Might,"
The vestige of All Might teared up as he was a proud father.
Izuku's body started to fully form as his body was now formed, showing him in his hero suit, "This power isn't made for killing, it is made to save people! To inspire others to take a stand, that's what this power is for, that's what All Might made it for! And I'll carry on that tradition not just for you or All Might but for the sake of the people!"
Yoichi smiled as he stood up, Izuku's body started to fade away, "And that's why you were chosen," He walked up to Izuku as he smiled at him.
he then looked at the man in front of Izuku, "I hope you can help him in his dark times, my hero,"
The man just stayed silent as he looked at the boy.
"The power to save, huh? Then kid, your actions better be louder than your words,"
Izuku saw all the users stand up as they all looked at the boy.
"We'll be watching,"
With the Jaegers
Wave sat on a bench, hunched over as he held his hands together. He was in though, he failed to protect his friends, his comrades. He gritted his teeth as his eyes were filled with regret, he couldn't help Bols, which led to his death. Kurome was critically injured when he found her. All because of Night Raid.
He grabbed Grand Chariot's key, he looked at it as he wanted to make it up to them. To everyone he disappointed and failed.
"Wave…" he looked up to see Run, he got up and looked him in the eye.
"Run… I failed… I couldn't help them, I wasn't strong enough,"
"It's not your fault, Wave," Run tried to reassure.
"But it is!" He shouted in anger.
He tightened his grip on his Teigu, "If I wasn't so careless, none of this would happen, Bols would still be alive!"
Wave brought his hand to his face, "If only I was strong enough…" he croaked.
"Then become stronger,"
Run and Wave turned to see Esdeath standing there, she was looking at him with content.
"Look at this failure and become stronger, you are still alive, so become stronger, stronger than anyone," Esdeath motivated him.
Wave nodded as he turned to Esdeath as he placed his fist to his heart, "I swear to you, I will get stronger,"
Wave's resolve hardened as Esdeath nodded and smirked, "Good, I will personally train you myself Wave, I will make you into a strong warrior,"
Wave nodded firmly, the only thought he had was now to bring down Night Raid and the Vigilante.
Three Months later
News spreaded across the Capital, the Vigilante working for Night Raid, making him a prime target as Night Raid. 3 months have passed since the battle between the Jaegers and Night Raid. During those three months, both sides were recovering and honing their skills. Izuku recovered in that time period but also, honing his skills and his new abilities.
Izuku went around the Capital and stopping petty crime and also stopping corrupt imperial police whilst helping the Revolutionary Army set up posts in several cities and making a name out of himself. Soon the entire country knew who Deku was, the Revolutionary Army's accomplice but he had earned another name amongst the people. The Hero of the Empire, through his actions, unknowingly the people started to realize that they weren't abandoned and started to rally up against the cruel system of the Empire.
The Vigilante Deku made history, a start of change in the Empire.
"Our Hero Deku, is our only hope in this dark world, join the Revolutionary Army to stand with Deku!" A man preached on the street.
"Hey! You stop at once, you are defying the Imperial Capital," a guard tried to stop him but the people huddled around.
"So what! You're supposed to be protecting us yet another person is doing that for you, Deku is trying to make a difference!"
"Yeah!"
"You fakes! You never even cared for the people!"
"Stop this at once all of you or you will all be detained!"
The people started to be influenced by Izuku's actions. But in the shadows, Night Raid continued to take down corrupt politicians and government officials that were linked to the Prime Minister.
After the siege on the base in the mountains where Ivan was stationed. The Prime Minister received a letter from one of his spies that Ivan was defeated by the Vigilante Deku.
"God Fucking Damn it!" Honest cursed as he proceeded to continue to throw a tantrum.
"That accursed Vigilante, why the hell hasn't he been dealt with!" Honest angrily questioned.
Honest's plans were all coming apart, Deku removing his associates one by one from many cities and now he has a mass following.
"I will have your head, Deku," Honest had a crazed smile as he chewed on a piece of meat.
Kitsune sat on a clock tower as he smiled under his mask as he read a newspaper, an article of Izuku, asking who he was and why is he doing this?
Kitsune looked up at the sky, "You truly are changing this world, Izuku Midoriya," he laughed.
"Now it's time for phase 2 now," Kitsune grinned as he then vanished.
With Night Raid
"Hey Tatsumi, are you going to sleep all day!" Mein yelled at him.
"I'm up, I'm up," The man walked out of the tent as Mein waited for him.
Tatsumi looked as he saw Mein, Sheele, Lubbock, and Susanoo waiting for him.
"Where are the others?" He asked.
"Najenda and Leone went to find a base for us down in the city, they took Eri with them," Sheele answered.
"As for Akame and Izuku… the two went to scout around,"
Tatsumi looked down as he remembered after that day. Izuku was not the same anymore, the smile he wore every time he had. The timid boy was now gone.
"I wonder, will we ever see him smile again…" Sheele said.
"Who knows…for now let's just carry on with our mission," Mein said.
"Right…" Tatsumi then looked up into the sky as he had a worried expression.
Meanwhile with Izuku As he stood on top of a cliff side, he looked down on Kyoroch District. His eyes devoided of any light in them. His suit patched up, he wore the black scarf, the same one on the day on his mission up in the mountains. His gauntlets were now cracked and he wore white gloves that were given to him by Mark.
Akame was right behind him, she had a sad expression.
"Izuku, we should get going," she said.
He nodded as he turned around and walked right past her.
"Right…"
Akame turned to look at him, this world, it was starting to affect him now, his smile, his bright smile…
Was now gone
