Chapter 5
An Empty Throne And A Full Boat
The Castle In Katolis
It was early in the morning when Viren, using the cover of darkness, walked into his studie. Viren thyen locked the door behind him. Then Viren pushed a book revealing a secret terrarium of multi-color glowing butterflies. "Good morning, little rays of sunshine." Viren said to the butterflies. Then a yellow glowing butterfly landed on his finger. "A volunteer. How eager." Viren said before a purple light filled the room. Then Viren walked out of his studie, taking in a deep breath. Then the terrarium went back to it's hiding spot. Viren then left, leaving behind a dead and colorless butterfly.
A River In Katolis
Meanwhile. After escaping Amaya and her forces, everyone let the river take them down for a few hours until they found a spot to sleep for the night. Once again the first person up was Callum, who was examining the cub they got yesterday. Callum then got an idea and pulled out the Primal Stone and placed it next to the cub. And the Sky Rune lights up, when Callum places the Primal Stone next to the Sky Rune. Callum then moved the Primal Stone and the Sky rune closer and farther apparent, and noticed that the Sky Ruin glowed brighter as the Primal stone got closer.
Callum then looked at Kali and Rayla and put the Primal Stone down. Callum then crawled to Rayla and Kali, and held the cube over them. Callum then noticed that the Sun Rune lit up when it was haverhing over Kali, and the Moon Rune lit up while it was over Rayla. Callum then started to go back and forth with the two girls, making a buzz/humming sound. This made Kail groan as she rolled away from Callum and woke up Rayla. "Rayla then grabbed Callum's hand. "This doesn't end well for you. " Rayla said as she pushed Callum away. Callum then landed on Allen, shocking him, and making him jump back. This started a chain ration of wake up calls. Soon everyone but Ezran and Rockruff was awake.
"What's going." Drake asked everyone, as everyone, but Rayla rubbed their eyes. Then Allen noticed the cube by him. "Were you using this toy to mess with Rayla." Allen said to Drake, as he grabbed the cube and looked at it for a few seconds before tossing it towards Bait. "Last night, you thought the cube was just a worthless toy. But now we know-." Callum said to everyone, but was interrupted by Rayla. "It's a glow toy." Rayla said as Bait moved to the cube and lit up the Sun Rune. "Exactly." Callum said to Rayla, sounding extied. "Exactly." Rayla said with a disapproving tune.
"Callum. It being able to glow does not make it any more important. I'm still questioning whether or not to throw it into the river." Drake said to Callum as he tossed the cube to Callum, and as Ezran finally woke up. "I'm going to find some food." Rayla said to everyone. "No you don't. A friend of ours made us some food for our trip. Well made it for Drake." Allen said to Rayla, while pulling out a basket of food, and elbowing Drake. "How long have you had that?" Drake asked Allen, taking the backet.
"Before all this happened." Allen said to Drake, as Drake looked into the basket. "Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there's only enough food in here for all of us for one meal. We need more food." Drake said to everyone, as he put the basket in his bag. "Then I'm going to find some more food." Rayla said to everyone. "I'll go with you." Allen said to Rayla. "Wait, we've got more food." Ezran said to Rayla and Allen. "No we don't." Darke said to Ezran. "Yes we do. We grabbed a sack of bread at the Banter Lodge." Ezran said to everyone, while showing off the bread Ezran head.
"That's not food." Allen said to Ezran. "Yeah, I thought this was a sack of clubs." Rayla said to Ezran, as she pulled out one of the loaves of bread and swung it around. But then Rayla felt a sharp pain in her hand, and dropped the bread onto a rock, cracking the rock. "First a window, then a tree and now a rock. Yeah not food." Allen said to Ezran. "What do you mean tree?" Kali asked Allen. "Oh yeah. While we were at the lodge I was swinging one of these loaves of bread around, when it slipped out of my hands, and chopped down a tree." Allen said to Kali. "That was you." Kali said before tackling Allen.
Everyone then looked at Ezran, while Allen and Kail were rolling around behind them. "Anyway that bread is still not food." Drake said to Ezran, as he picked up his staff. "No, it's food… ish." Ezran said to Drake, as he took a bite of the bread. "I'm good." Rayla said to Ezran. "And since Allen is busy I'll go help you gather food." Darke said to Rayla as they looked at Kali and Allen still rolling around before they left the group.
The Castle In Katolis
Back at the castle Viren walked into the throne room, where he walked to the throne with a smile on his face. "Thought I might run into you here." Gren said, getting Virens attention. Making Viren turn his head to see Amaya, Gren, Falinks, and Chatot standing on his right. Amaya then started to move her hands. "We need to talk." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. This made Viren frown.
The Woods In Katolis
After splitting from Drake Rayla made her way to a cliff edge, and took a set on the edge. Rayla just sat there and looked at the woods and her arm band. Then she pulled out one of her daggers. "Here gose nothing." Rayla said before she tried to cut off the band. "Easy now." Rayla said as she tried to cut it. But it didn't even work, or left a mark. "Ugh. What is this thing made of?" Rayla said before groaning and slamming her sword into the ground.
"What's bugging you?" A voice said to Rayla. Rayla then turned her head to see Drake standing behind her with some barries in one hand. "Oh um I was just-." Rayla said to Drake but was interrupted by someone yelling. "Help! Help!" A voice kept yelling. "That's Callum." Drake said to Rayla. This made Drake drop the berries and make Rayla pull out her dagger. Soon the two of them were running as fast as they could to the others, even jumping through the trees. "What is it? What happened?" Rayla said as she and Drake landed with their weapons drawn, and as they looked around.
"Oh nothing. Just another bad decision." Allen said to Drake and Rayla, as the two of them turned their heads to see Callum with holding the Primal Stone in his right hand and releasing small bolts of electricity from his left hand that was surrounding himself, and making everyone hide behind the various trees and rock nearby. "Help!" Callum said to Rayla and Drake. Drake and Rayla then had frowns on their faces and lower their weapons, as they walked to Callum.
"What happened?" Drake asked everyone. "He tried to copy Claudia's lighting spell, but he doesn't know how to finish it." Ezran said to Drake and Rayla. "Yeah, I… I only saw her do the first half. But I'm very good in the first half." Callum said to Rayla and Drake. "Seriously? That sounds like a really good and safe idea." Rayla said to Callum.
"Allen, why didn't you stop him?" Drake asked Allen. "I was a little busy." Allen said to Drake. "Yeah, he was flirting with Kali for the past hour." Ezran said to Drake. "We were not flirting. I was getting back at him for dropping a tree on me." Kali said to Ezran. "Look at what you did Drake, you messed with the boys head." Allen said to Drake.
"Can we save the lectures for later. What do I do now?" Callum said to everyone. "Oh right. Rayla, Kali, any idea?" Drake asked Rayla and Kali. "When you release a spell, there's usually a word or a phase oor something in ancient draconic." Rayla said to Callum. "Okay. Uh, anybody speak dragon? I don't speak dragon." Callum asked everyone. "You didn't hear Claudia say anything?" Rayla asked Callum. "No. I mean, I think right when I grabbed her hand away, She might have called me a fool." Callum said to Rayla.
"Yeah, fool seems about right." Rayla said to Callum. "Rash is another word." Allen said to Callum. "And crazy is another word." Drake said to Callum. "Guys help." Callum said to everyone. "Fine. Kali do you have any ideas?" Drake asked Kali. "No. I know very little words in draconic, and all of them are sun related." Kali said to Drake. "Ok then Rayla any ideas?" Drake asked Rayla. "Okay, give me a second. I know some draconic words. Just let me think." Rayla said as everyone went silent.
While Rayla was thinking, Callum looked at the Primal Stone. "Know what? I'm just gonna throw it." Callum said to Rayla. "What? No!" Rayla said to Callum. "Yeah, I'm gonna throw you the Primal Stone." Callum said to Rayla. "That's a good plan." Ezran said to everyone. "No it's not. That stone has an electricity charge throwing it will be like throwing lightning." Drake said to everyone. "Yeah, throwing is bad." Rayla said to Callum.
"I won't throw it. I'll just gently toss it." Callum said to Rayla and Callum. "No, no, no! No throwing. No tossing." Rayla said to Callum waving her hand. "Yeah now let us think for a second." Drake said as he started to think. "I got it Callum you should-." Drake said to Callum but was interrupted by Callum. "Tossing it." Callum said as he tossed the Primal Stone to Rayla.
Rayla then covered her face with her hands and a big flash appeared. "Ha! Ah! It worked. I'm okay." Callum said to everyone. "Not for long unless you say your sorry to Rayla." Drake said to Callum, as he pointed to Rayla, who had a grumpy face and had wild and staticy hair. "You're kind of making a sizzling sound." Ezran said to Rayla, as everyone moved out of their hiding spots. "Well that's what happens when you get struck by lighting." Allen said to Ezran.
"Sorry about that. I guess I'm just so excited to be learning magic, and I got a little carried away." Callum said to Rayla, as he got up and grabbed his stuff.. "A little? Callum you need to show a little restraint." Drake said to Callum. "Why?" Callum asked Drake. "Because ever since you discovered magic. You have had nothing, but bad ideas." Drake said to Callum. "Name one."
"You almost got Kali and Rayla killed for a toy. You almost got Rayla killed by throwing that stone, instead of just rolling it on the ground. And you gave us an early morning wake call because you were playing around with that cube." Darke said to Callum.
"Name four." Callum said to Drake. "Okay that's enough. The sooner we return this egg, the sooner, maybe, this war can end. It's time to hit the road." Rayla said to Callum and Drake, after Kali helped fixed Rayla's hair. Then Rayla tossed Callum back the Primal Stone, and started to walk away.
"Road? Why wear ourselves out walking on a road when we can let the River do the walking?" Callum said to Rayla, as everyone grabbed their stuff. "You know despite the recently bad ideas he's been having. Riding the river might not be one of them." Allen said to Rayla. "Nope. Say goodbye to the boat. We go by land from here." Rayla said to everyone. "But why? The river's going the right direction, and moves much faster than we ever could on foot. I mean, look at those legs." Callum said to Rayla, as he pointed to Ezran.
"What? I have nice legs." Ezran said to everyone. "How about a little Democracy. All in favor of the boat, raise your hand." Allen said to everyone. Then everyone, but Rayla, Rockruff, and Gligar, raised their hand. "All those in favor of walking." Allen said as Rayla, Gligar, and Rockruff raised their hands or tail in Rockruff's case. "Seems like the boat is the winner." Allen said to everyone. "No! We're walking. That's final." Rayla said to everyone, before she started to walk. "Rockruff/ Gligar." The two of them said before following Rayla.
"Is there maybe another reason you don't wanna take the boat? Something you're not telling us?" Callum asked Rayla as he and Allen ran to her. "No. There's no secret reason." Rayla said to Callum, as she and the Pokemon stopped. "Yeah I get why Rockruff and Gligar don't want to ride the boat, but you, I have no idea. Unless? Do you have aquaphobia?" Allen Asked Rayla.
"Rayla's not a frog." Ezran said to Allen. "That's amphibian Ezran. Aquaphobia means you're scared of water." Drake said to Ezran. "So, wait. Your, like this back-flippin', tree-climbin', sword-stabbin' Elven warrior, but scared of a little splish-splashin'?" Callum asked Rayla. "He has a point out of all the things you could be sacred of as a warrior, you're scared of water." Allen said to Rayla. Rayla said nothing.
"Aw, that's cute." Ezran said to Rayla. "You know it's nothing to be embarrassed by if you are." Drake said to Rayla. "I'm not scared. And since you all want to. We'll take the stupid boat." Rayla said to everyone, as she moved to the boat. Everyone shrugged their shoulders and followed her.
Then everyone got into the boat, with Drake and Allen getting ready to push the boat into the river. "Hello everyone, welcome to the Fischer's Luxury Cruise. We thank you for joining us on our maiden voyage. Now sit back, relax and let your Captains take you on a cruise of a lifetime." Allen said as he and Drake pushed the boat into the river and hopped onto the back, all the while the two of them were laughing a little bit. "Set sail." Allen said to Drake. "Ay Captain. Dragon Breath." Drake said to Allen, as he fired a burst of energy making them go downstream at a reasonable speed. "Thanks Captain." Allen said to Drake.
The Castle In Katolis
While the gang was traveling down the river. Amaya was chatting with Viren and was not happy with him. "How could you let it come to this?" Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "You speak as if I invited these assassins." Viren said to Amaya. "I had to leave our stronghold at the Breach, and stop training with Falinks. Do you have any idea the dangerous forces gathered at our border? I need Falinks to be ready for anything." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya.
"I did everything in my power to protect King Harrow. I was willing to give my own life." Viren said to Amaya. "Then what went wrong?" Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "He did. His own stubborn ways stopped me from helping him. You know him as well as I do. His pride was more important to him than his life! And it only got worse when those twins got here." Viren said to Amaya. "You wanted this outcome." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "How dare you suggest-." Viren said to Amaya but was interrupted by Gren interpreting.
"His Death creates opportunity for you." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "Opportunity. Opportunity. Opportunity." Chatot said, repeating Gren. "His death breaks my heart." Viren said to Amaya. "And yet you use it as an excuse to try and turn Allen and Drake into enemies, and to try and ruin all the work they have done for us." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "They have us working with those beasts. While we should be dominating and use them." Viren said to Amaya.
"So that's why you want to ruin Allen and Drake's work. You want to use Pokemon for your Dark Magic." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "And if I could have used those beasts for my Magic. I could have saved King Harrow." Viren said to Amaya. "Then honor him. Find his Children." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "They're gone, Amaya. Captured by a Moonshadow elf, and strangely a Sunfire Elf. If they're not already dead, they will be soon." Viren said to Amaya.
"Did you forget Allen and Drake are with them. They're protecting them." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "What if that was a lie, and they're really in league with the elves that kidnap them." Viren said to Amaya. "Allen and Drake are good people, it's not their loyal to the throne that is in question it's yours." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "Amaya, this is a time of crisis." Viren said to Amaya as he walked to the throne.
"An Empty throne is a beacon of weakness, an invitation to destroy us." Viren said to Amaya, making them uneasy, and he sighs. "We must defend Katolis and all of the human kingdoms against what's coming. I can help us from there." Viren said to Amaya. Amaya just shook her head. "You think I am being an opportunist. But I couldn't be more selfless in my motivation. I am a servant of Katlis. I am a servant!" Viren said to Amaya baning his staff against the floor. "Those are awfully nice clothes for a humble servant, Viren." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya.
"You don't believe me. Then you take it. Go ahead, sit down. I'll support you as queen regent. I'll gather the High Council, And we'll send word to the other crowns of the Pentarchy immediately." Viren said to Amaya. "The throne stays empty until we find the boys. And when we do either Allen or Drake will take your spot next to it." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. This made Viren leave in frustration. Amaya and Gren then looked at each other.
Then Abigail came into the throne room with Piplup holding a basket on her head. "Gernal Amaya, it's good to have you back." Abigail said to Amaya. "Ah Abigail it's good to see you survived that attack." Gren said to Abigail, interpreting for Amaya. "Thank you. Now I know this might not be the best time. But I thought you might like to visit your sister." Abigail said to Amaya, As Piplup walked over to Amaya. "Thank you Abigail." Gren said to Abigail, interpreting for Amaya, as Amaya took the basket. "Your welcome." Abigail said before she left with Piplup. After that, Amaya, Gren, Falinks, and Chatot left the throne room.
The River
Back at the river everyone was relaxing, while Drake and Allen took turns on who was using their Dragon Breath attack as the motor of the boat. Kali and Formantis were asleep, taking in the warm light of the sun. while Ezran, Callum, and Yamna looked around, and Rayla, Gligar, and Rockruff stayed as close to the floor of the boat as possible, and Bait was hanging in the back with Allen and Drake, sticking his tail into the water.
"Bait, you know you're not supposed to do that." Ezran said to Bait as he pulled Bait out of the water. "No Playing in the water." Ezran said to Bait. "Relax Ezran I doubt there's anything that would "like" Bait to be in water." Drake said to Ezran.
"Bait loves the water, but he should be afraid of it. You wanna know why he's named Bait?" Callum said to Rayla. "Not really." Rayla said groaning as she pulled herself off the floor. "Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway. It's kind of a sick joke, I guess. Glow toads? They're apparently… delicious." Callum said to Rayla. "Gross." Rayla said to Callum, as she looked at Bait.
"Deep-sea fishermen use them to catch giant fish, stuff like that. That's why he's named "Bait." Get it?" Callum said to Rayla, laughing a little bit. "That's my stepdad's sense of humor." Callum said to Rayla. "I still think your dad's humor is odd." Allen said to Callum. "But, yea, that's why we have to be extra careful about him not getting in the water." Callum said to Rayla. "Guys, he doesn't know how delicious he is, so shh." Ezran said to everyone.
Then Bait looked at everyone. "And that's how the noodle got its name." Ezran said to everyone trying to make it sound like they were talking about something else, this made everyone look at Ezran with a weird look on their faces, except Drake who was cracking a smile and laughing quietly.
Katolis
Back in Katolis. Amaya, Gren, Falinks, and Chatot were moving to the place everyone went for Harrow's funeral. There they stopped in front of a statue of a young woman in armor, and riding a horse, and despite the strong presence the statue presented, it had a kind and warming face. Amaya looked at the statue with a sad look and then said a prayer in sign language, before kneeling, and pulling a candle out of the basket Abigail gave her and lit it with one of the few lit candles on the statue, and placed it down.
Amaya then started to say words that made her sad in sign language. Falink didn't know what Amaya was saying but they knew that Amaya needed them, so that surrounded Amaya and gave her a hug, the best way they could. Then Amay smiled and started to say words that were filled with joy in sign language.
As Amaya talked to the statue, Gren and Chatot noticed Viren walking towards them. Viren then walked to Amaya's side. "May I light a candle?" Viren asked Amaya. Amaya nodded yes. Viren then joined Amaya on the ground.
The River
At the river, Drake and Allen decided to take a break from being the motor and let the current lead them. It was at that time Kali and Formatis woke up from their nap, and started to look around with the others. However the pleasant times were interrupted when they noticed Rayla in a throw up position.
"You doing all right?" Callum asked Rayla. "I'm doing great." Rayla said to Callum, before groaning a bit. "Rayla if you need a break we can head for shore and give you a break." Allen said to Rayla. "I'm fine Allen. I just love boats so much. That's why I'm down here. To be close to the boat." Rayla said, gagging a little bit. "Are you sure it's not just motion sickness?" Drake asked Rayla. But Rayla didn't respond, she was just trying to stop herself from pucking.
"Tell you what. I'm gonna ask you five Questions." Callum said to Rayla. "Please don't." Rayla said to Callum. "Come on! It'll be a fun distraction, and help take your mind off things." Callum asked Rayla. "For the record he's going to ask five questions where you want to or not." Drake said to Rayla. "Five questions, that's all you get." Rayla said to Callum.
"Oaky, question one. We always heard all these crazy things about Xadia. Like, it was this place with just… magic everywhere. Is that really what it's like?" Callum asked Rayla. "Yes. Next question." Rayla said to Callum, as she turned to face him. "It must be so weird that everywhere you look there's magic." Callum said to Rayla. "It's not weird. In Xadia, maic is pretty much in everything. It's no different from saying. "Everywhere you look, there's nature." It's just part of the vibrance or spirit of things, you know?" Rayla said to Callum.
"I can't wait to see that. It sounds incredible." Callum said as he moved to the front of the boat. "Yeah. Yeah, it is." Rayla said to Callum, feeling better. "See, it's working, right? Don't you feel a little better?" Callum asked Rayla. "Maybe so." Rayla said to Callum. "Look at that." Ezran said, making everyone turn their heads to see a large group of deer drinking by the river.
Except the dear looked different from normal deer. The large deer had pink spots on their backs, and wood like antlers, with flowers on it. And the little deer had white fur with pink fur over it and a yellow outline on the pink fur that was on their bodies, and the little dear had yellow flowers on their heads. "It's a group of Deerling and Sawsbuck." Allen said to everyone. "Deerling? Sawsbuck?" Kali asked Allen. "Here." Allen said as he pulled out his Pokedex.
Deerling/ Season Pokemon / Normal and GrassType / The turning of the seasons changes the color and scent of this Pokemon fur. People use it to mark the seasons.
Sawsbuck/ Season Pokemon / Normal and GrassType / They migrate according to the seasons, People can tell the season by looking at Sawsuck's horns.
"So you can tell what season it is by looking at this Pokemon?" Kali asked Allen. "Yeah Pokemon are so cool. And by the look of those Deerling and Sawsbuck, it's spring." Allen said as he put his Pokedex away. "And they're both called the Season Pokemon?" Kali asked Allen. "When Deerling grow up they become Sawsbuck. I wouldn't be surprised if those Deerling are those Sawsbuck babies." Allen said to Kail.
"But they look so different. How can those Deerling become a Sawsbuck?" Kali asked Allen. "They evolve." Allen said to Kali. "Evolve?" Kali asked Allen. "Evolve is a natural thing that most Pokemon do. It's sorta like a sudden and large growth spurt. In which the Pokemon change form, gain more power, and maybe even gain or lose an attribute." Allen said to Kali. "Will we see this evolve, thing?" Kali asked Allen. "Maybe, we'll just have to wait and see." Allen said to Kali.
Then they noticed a few of them Sawsbuck nuzzling a few of the Deerling, to which the Deerling smiled. "Aw look at that. I tell you there is nothing that warms the heart more than seeing a Parent Pokemon with their little once." Allen said to everyone. "Yeah. so Callum what's your next question?" Rayla asked Callum.
"Okay, question two. What are your parents like?" Callum asked Rayla. And like a piece of glass breaking, the mood died. "They're dead." Rayla said to Callum, turning her head to the floor, not looking at everyone. "Oh Rayla, I didn't mean to…" Callum said to Rayla, but lost his words. "It's fine." Rayla said to Callum. "Rayla If you want to talk about it we're here for you." Allen said to Rayla. "Gligar." Gligar said as she hugged Rayla. "See even Gligar is here for you, no matter how rough the river of time gets." Drake said to Rayla as everyone noticed the river up ahead, and got worried looks on their faces.
"So, this might not be the best time to bring this up, but are you sure you're not scared of the water?" Callum asked Rayla. "I'm done with questions. "I know, it's just the water's about to… Look!" Callum said to Rayla, stammering and getting Rayla's attention. Rayla then turned his head to see that river was about to become a water fall. "You just had to see "no matter how rough the river gets." didn't you." Allen said to Drake. "I said river of time. Not this river." Drake said to Allen.
"Pull the boat over! Rayla said to everyone, as fell to the floor, with a face full of fear. "I don't think there's time." Callum said to Rayla. "And it looks like the rapids got us, so there's no stopping this boat." Allen said to Rayla while he's looking at the water. "Pull it over! I admit it, I hate the water. I'm afraid of it. It makes me sick. All of the bad feelings." Rayla said to everyone. "Now you tell us." Drake said to Rayla. "Well it's too late, hang on!" Callum said to everyone.
"Everyone, to the back." Drake said to everyone. Soon everyone was huddling in the back of the boat. "Come everyone, big group hug. Remember to keep your hands and feets inside the rides at all times. And don't forget to smile for the camera." Allen said to everyone, as they all wrapped their arms around each other with one hand, and another holding onto the boat. "Wait? What is a cameraaaaaaaaaa?!" Kali asked before they went over the edge of the waterfall, and started to scream. Soon Rayla joined her in screaming.
But then when they made it to the bottom of the waterfall in one piece. They found themselves being tossed around by the rapids. It was at that point Kali scream became ones of excitement instead of fear, with everyone joining her. Well almost everyone. Rayla and Rockruff were frozen in fear, and Bait didn't care. "Hold tight!" Callum said as they hit a rock. "Hah, hah, now this is what makes a journey exciting." Drake said as they went further down the rapids. Rayla then broke her silence and started to scream. "Come on Rayla live a little and enjoy the ride. Hah hah." Allen said to Rayla, as everyone, but Rayla, Rockruff, and Bait broke out laughing from excitement.
Katolis
While the gang was riding down the rapids, Amaya, and Viren finished their praying. "Your sister made him better. Viren said to Amaya, as they looked at the statue. "She was compassionate and patient. Unless, of course, you took the last jelly tart." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya, making Viren laugh a little.
"I only made that mistake once." Viren said to Amaya, making everyone laugh this time. "A sweet tooth and an iron fist." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "General Amaya, I am sorry for what happened in the throne room. You helped me see the truth." Viren said to Amaya. "And why was that so hard?" Gren asked Viren, interpreting for Amaya.
"I was blinded by my abiding love of our kingdom and humanity itself. And my distrust towards Pokemon is because we haven't learned much about the possibilities Pokemon could bring to Humanity." Viren said to Amaya. "Guard, fetch a stable boy, quickly. I've encountered a giant pile of bull..." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya ,but stopped when he realized what she was saying. "Droppings." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya, and changing Amaya's words. Viren cuckold a little bit.
"The Princes come first. Finding them is absolutely the top priority." Viren said to Amaya. "You see it my way. I'll be departing at sundown with a rescue party." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya, before the two of them and their Pokemon started to leave. "Of course. But allow me to ask… what happens to the breach?" Viren asked Amaya, making Amaya, Gren, and their Pokemon stop. Amaya then turned to Viren.
"You said yourself how precarious the situation is. Without you there commanding the fortress, do you believe, in your heart, that the border will hold? And you have to conuted training Falinks at the Breach." Viren said to Amaya. "Make you point." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "If the Breach falls, the enemy will surge into Katolis, and I can hardly imagine the death and destruction that will follow." Viren said to Amaya.
"Then what are you suggesting?" Gren asked Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "You return to the border, hold it fast. It's where you're needed most. A party of our best will be dispatched immediately to find and to help Drake and Allen save the princes from the elves. And in case you still doubt my intentions, I will task my own children, Soren and Claudia, with leading the rescue expeditation." Viren said to Amaya. Amaya then walked to Viren, getting into Virens personal space.
"I do doubt your intentions. I will return to the Breach, But your children won't lead the rescue. The mission will be assigned to..." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya, but stopped by what Amaya said. "Commander Gren. Gren said, interpreting for Amaya. "That's… that's me. I am commander Gren." Gren said to Viren. "Gren. Gren. Gren." Chatot said, making Viren look at Gren with an odd look on his face.
The River
Back at the River. The gang had just gone down another waterfall and made it to a large calm lake, where the boat stopped moving in the middle. "Well that was fun." Allen said to everyone as everyone got up revealing their wet and soggy self. "You faced your fear. Do you feel better about water now?" Callum asked Rayla. "I have never felt worse about water." Rayla said to Callum. "Come on Rayla, even you have to admit that was fun." Kali said to Rayla, as she shook her head to get the water out of it.
"Besides if you think you had it bad look at Rockruff." Allen said to Rayla, as they all noticed Rockruff had his jaw locked into the boat. Then Allen tried to unlock Rockruff's jaw. "I think we're going to need a crowbar." Allen said after a few pulls.
"Anyway, we're making great time." Callum said to everyone. "But we have a little problem." Drake said to everyone. "Guys? Does anyone else see Bait?" Ezran said to everyone. "No. Where is that little ball of trouble?" Allen asked as everyone started to look around. Then they heard Bait's crock. "Found him." Kali said as they noticed Bait coming down the waterfall, making Ezran gasp.
Bait then stopped moving once he made it down the waterfall. "Bait! Come back here! Do you froggy paddle." Ezran said to Bait. Bait just crocked softly and started to swim slowly. "You know you're not supposed to get in the water." Ezran said to Bait, as Bait got close enough to the boat, for Ezran to pick him up. Ezra then hugged Bait. "What a disaster." Rayla said to everyone, as she sat on the floor of the boat. "I know, right? My socks are all soggy. A disaster! A soggy disaster." Callum said to Rayla, holding up his left leg.
"Callum's socks aside. Besides the rapids the worst thing that happened to us was Bait getting thrown off the boat. What else could go wrong." Allen said to Rayla, making her roll her eyes. As she did that Rayla noticed a blue light from Callum's bag and backed away from Callum's bag. "Uh, Callum…" Rayla said to Callum, making everyone notice the cube one of the runes glowing a blue light. "Callum, which rune is that?" Drake asked Callum, as he picked up the cube, and looked at it for a few seconds before giving it to Callum.
"Hey, Ocean Rune. I've never seen it light up before." Callum said as he started to move it up and down. Callum then noticed that it got darker as he raised it and brighter as lowered it. "Wait, why would the Ocean Rune be…" Callum said, but was interrupted by Drake. "Everyone brash for impact!" Drake said to everyone. "Wait are you…" Callum was about to ask Drake, but was interrupted by an extremely large black fish with green marks, ramming the bottom of their boat, sending the boat, and making everyone scream as they were sent flying. "Oh I get it! Callum said to everyone as they all closed their eyes.
Then Callum, Ezran, Bait, Yanma, and Formatis landed in the water. Rayla and Rockruff landed on the ground with a piece of the boat still in Rockruff's mouth. Gligar landed into a tree. But strangely Allen, Drake, and Kali, didn't land. "What happened?" Drake asked as he, and Allen opened their eyes to see that they had stopped midair. They followed their raised arms to see their staffs glowing and not moving, with Drake staff glowing two blue lines that went across, and Allen's staff blowing four red lines that went up and down.
Allen then noticed Kali was in his other arm. It was at this point Kali opened her eyes and locked eyes with Allen. "Hey Gorgeous." Allen said to Kali. "Pervert." Kali said as she tried to punch Allen in the face. Allen tried to dodge her attack, by moving his head back. Then the staff started to go back. "Aaah!" Allen said as they started to move. "Allen stop this thing." Kali said to Allen, holding on to him for dear life. "I don't know how, maybe if I…" Allen said to Kali, as he turned his head to the left, only for the staff to suddenly turn left.
"Allen, what are you doing?" Drake asked Allen as he moved his head forward and turned his head to the right. Then his staff started to release a stream of electricity and move forward and to the right. "Aaaah! Drake said as he started to move. Now all three of them were flying wildly in the air, all the while yelling. While Ezran, Callum, Yanma, and Formatis broke the surface of the lake, and started to swim,
"Ah sweet, solid lan, we meet again." Rayla said when she noticed she was on land. Rayla then kissed the ground a few times, until she noticed everyone else. Rayla then saw the fish was going after Bait. "Guys, behind you! Bait is in trouble!" Rayla yelled to Ezran and Callum. "What?" Ezran asked Rayla, not hearing a word she said. "Bait needs help!" Rayla yelled to them again. "Bait sneezed kelp?" Ezran asked Rayla, wondering what she meant. "No. she says, "Bait knees smell"." Callum said to Ezran. "Well, that's just mean." Ezran said to Callum.
"No!" Rayla yelled to Ezran and Callum. Then Rayla noticed the fish sent Bait flying into the air. Where Bait landed on one of the fishes eyes. "This made Rayla worried. "Drake, Allen, Bait needs help/"
"We're a little busy up here." Drake said to Rayla, as he flew past her. "Gligar a little help?" Rayla asked Gligar. But Gligar didn't respond, she just had swirls for eyes. "Rockruff what about you? Rockruff?" Rayla asked Rockruff and noticed Rockruff was missing. Rayla then noticed Rockruff hiding behind a tree with the piece of the boat still in his mouth.
"It's down to me, isn't it? Of course it is." Rayla said as she moved to a tree. "Goodbye, sweet, solid land. I barely knew you." Rayla said to the ground before jumping up the tree. Then from the top of the tree Rayla jumped into a log that was in the water. But being in the water again, got her scared, and she hugged the log. "Come on, Rayla, do it for the frog. The grumpy frog that hates you." Rayla said to herself. "Here goes." Rayla said as she got up and pulled out her daggers.
Then as the fish was about to eat Bait. Rayla kicked the fish, and made it turn. Then as the fish went under. Rayla ran to the back of it and was flung into the air with Bait. "In the air Rayla caught Bait and held him close to her. Then the two of them hit the water.
In the water the fish tried to eat both of them. And it almost did. But thanks to Rayla's daggers being able to turn into hooks. Rayla was able to pull herself out of the fish's mouth. Rayla then held on to her dagger and Bait for dear life as the fish surfaced again, trying to get them off. The violent shaking of the fish caused a wave that sent Ezran, Callum, Yanma, and Formatis to shore where Gligar and Rockruff were located.
Everyone then watched Rayla hang on for dear life as the fish started to toss and turn. Then Callum pulled out his Primal Stone and had an idea. "I have an idea. Rayla, jump." Callum said to Rayla, as he drew the thunderbolt spell. "But you don't know how to-." Rayla said to Callum hearing him, but was interrupted by Rayla. "Just jump!" Callum said to Rayla.
Rayla said nothing but and pulled herself up and jumped high into the air. It was that moment Callum placed his head into the water. Then the lake was fluid with electricity and it zapped the fish. The fish roared in pain before dropping dead. Then Rayla and bait poke their heads out of the water, showing everyone that they were alive. Then dead fish started to appear all over the lake.
It was at this time Drake, Allen, and Kali crashed into each other, and their staffs stopped glowing making them crash into the water right next to Rayla and Bait. then they soon raised to the surface. "Gross." Drake said as they looked at the dead fish before swimming to shore.
The Castle In Katolis
At the castle Amaya was giving orders to some of the knights there before she left with Falinks in a cart that was attached to her horse. "I've sent word to Corvus and Staraptor that King Harrow has passed." Gren said to the knights, interpreting for Amaya. "Is Lord Viren aware that Corvus has been tracking the princes and their friends?" A male knight asked Amaya.
"No." Gren said to the knights, interpreting for Amaya. Then Abigail and Piplup came up with another basket. "Some food for the road." Abigail said to Amaya. "Thank you Abigail." Gren said to Abigail, interpreting for Amaya. "No problem Amaya." Abigail said to Amaya, as Amay put the food onto her horse. "Abigail I have a mission for you." Gren said to Abigail, interpreting for Amaya.
"Mission? Amaya I'm just a maid that does a lot of cooking. I'm not a knight." Abigail said to Amaya. "I don't need you to be a warrior. I need you to keep an eye on Viren. If Viren does anything, inform Opeil. She one of the few people we can trust." Gren said to Abigail, interpreting for Amaya. "Ok, I'll do my best." Abigail said to Amaya
"All of you remember. Do not trust Viren. It may be a month from now, it may be a year, but he will stab you in the back." Gren said to everyone, interpreting for Amaya. "I'll make sure to keep an eye on him and I'll be careful." Abigail said to Amaya. "I'll be careful two." Gren said to Amaya. Amaya then placed a finger on Gren lips. Amaya then gave Gren some heartfelt words, and to be careful. Gren bowed to Amaya. Then the two hugged each other. Amaya then broke up the huge and got on her horse.
Amaya then noticed Viren and Soren walking towards them. "I expect to be notified when the princes and their friends are found. And safe." Gren said to Viren, interpreting for Amaya. "Of Course. I'll send word to the Breach immediately." Viren said to Amaya. Then Amay rode off, with Falinks still in the cart, and a group of knights.
"Abigail, I believe you have some chores to do." Viren said to Abigail. "Right, come on Piplup." Abigail said before she left with Piplup. "Oh, Gren, bad news. There's been a change of plans." Sorren said to Gren. "What are you talking about? What is he talking about?" Gren asked Sorren and Viren. "Talk, talk, talk." Chatot said to Sorren and Viren.
"Oh, I've decided you're off the mission. Soren will lead the rescue expedition." Viren said to Gren. "What? General Amaya was very specific. That I was to lead this." Gren said to Viren. "Gren lead, Gren lead, Gren lead." Chatot said to Viren. "Oh, perhaps there was a misunderstanding? Soren, set up a meeting for Commander Gren and I to discuss his concerns. Somewhere quiet. Say around 9." Viren said to everyone. "Yes, very good. 9 suits my schedule." Gren said to Viren. "Very good." Viren said to Gren, before he left.
The River
At the River, everyone was finishing drying off from their watery adventure. "Rayla, you saved Bait! Without you, he would have been… Fish food." Ezran said to Rayla, as he covered Bait's ears. "Yeah you showed really bravery today." Drake said as he got the piece of wood out of Rockruff's mouth. "He's right. That was brave, Rayla." Callum said to Rayla. "No, I already told you, I'm afraid of water." Rayla said to everyone.
"I know. That's why doing what you did was so heroic." Callum said to Rayla. "Oh, thanks." Rayla said to Callum. "Why wouldn't you just tell us about your fear before? It's okay to be afraid of things." Ezran said to Rayla. "Yeah. if you mentioned it earlier. We would have walked instead of taking the boat." Allen said to Rayla.
"I guess I was afraid of being afraid." Rayla said to everyone, as she looked at her reflection in the lake. "Well, that's kind of circular. But, hey, worth nothing: You're not afraid of being afraid of being afraid." Callum said to Rayla, making Drake, Allen, and Kali, laugh a little. "That's deep. But stuipid." Rayla said to Callum. "It Callum. Stupid and deep are one in the same for him." Drake asid to Rayla.
"But still why didn't you say anything? No one here would have thought any less of you." Allen asked Rayla. "The thing is, Moonsahdow elves aren't supposed to show fear. Ever." Rayla said to everyone. "That's sad." Ezran said to Raya. "It's our way." Rayla said to Ezran. "Then your way is the way of fools." Allen said to Rayla. "What?" Rayla asked Allen.
"Rayla, let me give you a simple truth. Only fools are fearless. Being brave means being scared, but doing what you have to. So you jump in to save Bait, show us your bravery. But if your people think that you being scared makes you weak. Then your people are fools." Allen said to Rayla. "He's got a point, even though your parents are gone. I don't think they want their little girl doing something dangerous because she was bullied into doing it, by a bunch of fools." Drake said to Rayla.
"My parents aren't really dead, But I wish they were." Rayla said to Drake. "What? Why?" Drake asked Rayla. "They're cowards." Rayla said to Drake. "What do you mean?" Callum asked Rayla. "And how do you know their cowards?" Drake asked Rayla. "My parents were part of an elite force, the Dragon Guard, eight elven warriors chosen to protect the egg of the Dragon Prince." Rayla said to everyone.
"Stupid question, but I know this egg is important, but why was eight elven warriors were protecting this egg. I'm sure the little once mom and dad could have done that." Drake asked Rayla, as Ezran pulled the egg out of his bag. "Strom dragons only lay an egg every thousand years. So that egg is so rare and precious." Rayla said to Drake.
"So that's why the little one needs extra protection." Allen said to everyone. "But when the humans came and killed the Dragon King, the Dragon Guard, my parents, failed in their duty. They ran away. I'm so ashamed." Rayla said to everyone, looking away from them. Then Callum placed a hand on Rayla's shoulder, making her turn to the group. "Rayla, I'm so sorry for what humans did." Callum said to Rayla.
"So, you see, that's why I have to make things right. When I first came here, I was on a quest for revenge. But the moment I saw the egg, everything changed. Now, this is a journey of redemption." Rayla said to everyone, making everyone smile. "We're in this together." Callum said to everyone, as he put an arm around Ezran. "And nothings going to stop us." Allen said to everyone.
Then they noticed the boat moving past them. "Oh so that's where the boat went." Kali said to everyone. "Oh, no. Our boat seems to be drifting away. It slipped just out of my reach. What will we do now?" Rayla said to everyone. Then the boat landed right next to them. "Looks like you have a pretty good reach." Drake said to Rayla, as Rayla slapped her hand into her face. Callum and Allen then moved to the boat and kicked it away. "Goodbye, boat." Callum said to the boat. "It's been fun." Allen said to the boat. "Thank you." Rayla said to Callum and Allen.
"What are friends for." Allen said to Rayla, as he and Callum noticed Rayla pulling at her arm band. "So, what's the deal with your wrist ribbon thing? Does it mean something?" Callum asked Rayla. "Oh, uh… Nan. it's just decorative." Rayla said to Callum. "Decorative." Callum said to Rayla. "Are you sure? It looks like it's hurting you." Allen said to Rayla. "No worry Allen. It's just a Moonshadow elf thing." Rayla said to Callum and Allen. "Mmm. Okay." Callum said to everyone. "Alright everyone, let's go find a place to sleep for the night." Drake said to everyone, as everyone started to walk into the woods.
The Castle In Katolis
Back at the castle Viren entered his secret room, where he kept the Dragon Prince egg. "Five past 9. I apologize for my tardiness." Viren said to Gren. "It was only five minutes." Gren said to Viren. So, what are your concerns?" Viren asked Gren. "Well… you took me off the mission." Gren said to Viren. "Hmm, noted. Go on." Viren said to Gren.
"And you threw me and Chatot in this dungeon." Gren said to Viren revealing that he was chained to the wall and Chatot was in a thick bird cage next to him. "Ah, I see. Anything else?" Viren asked Gren. "Uh, no. But… No. I guess those are my main two. But I would like to mention that Chatot doesn't like the cage." Gren said to Viren, as they turned their head to see Chatot kicking the cage with his feet and slapping it with his wings.
"Thank you, Gren. Your feedback is a gift." Viren said to Gren, as Claudia poked her head from one of the side rooms. "Father, it's about our other prisoner…" Claudia said to Viren. Viren then left Gren and Chatot, and walked down a dark hallway.
At the end of the hall was a room with the door open. Inside the room was Runaan sitting on the ground, with his arms chained against the wall, and he had no shirt on. "He's still refusing to eat." Claudia said to Viren, which made Viren sighs. "Then let him be hungry." Viren said to Claudia as he left. Claudia then closes the door leaving Runaan in the dark with a face of defiance.
