Welcome back, As you know things have been crazy for me, and I have been writing as much as I can, but that's maybe the 30 minutes before work. Now let's get this story started with Chapter 7.
Chapter 7
The Dagger, The Wolf, And the Birds
The Beartic Cave
It was early in the morning and the sun wasn't even up yet, but everyone, but Ezran, was awake and doing their own thing. Drake, Kali, Fomantis, Gligar, and Rockruff, were sitting around the fire Allen made the previous knight, with Ezran laying in a blanket that was in Drake's backpack, against a Beartic that was next to the fire, trying to sleep, Callum was sitting on a rock drawing, with Yanma next to him, Allen was checking on the egg, and Rayla was out trying to find something to help Ezran and get some food, since they didn't eat anything the other day.
As Callum was drawing he noticed Ezran was awake. "Ez, you should really try to sleep." Callum said to Ezran. "I'm… I'm…" Ezran said before sneezing. "I'm fide." Ezran said to Callum as he whipped his nose. "You don't sound "fide"." Drake said to Ezran. "Ezran you have a cold. You need to rest and regain your strength." Kali said to Ezran. "You heard the doc, back to bed." Callum said to Ezran. "What are you drawing?" Ezran asked Callum, as he got up and walked to Callum.
"Oh." Ezran said as he noticed what he was drawing. "When you were down there, under the ice, I was so scared. I thought I was going to lose you like we lost her. But thanks to the Baertic you made it." Callum said to Ezran, as Drake and Kali got up and walked to Callum, and saw a detailed picture of a woman in fancy clothes. "Is that?" Kali asked Drake. "Their mother, yeah. I never met her, but from what I heard she was the best. Smart, brave, strong, and wise. And from what Amaya told me, always trying to push towards peace." Drake said to Kali.
"I bet she would be proud of her boy right now." Kali said to Callum and Ezran. "I think so too. But she would yell at Ezran to go sit closer to the fire and bundle up!" Callum said to Ezran, making everyone laugh. "He's probably right, come on, Ezran." Drake said as he led Ezran to the fire, with Kali walking with them. "I'm coming." Ezran said to Drake, before they got to the fire.
A few minutes later Rayla entered the cave and made her way to the group. "She's beautiful. She's your mother?" Rayla asked Callum, as she passed him, and noticed the drawing. "Yeah." Callum said to Rayla, before going silent. "Um, I found some moonberries." Rayla said as she opened a small bag, making everyone, but Allen moved to her. "This should keep us full… for a day." Rayla said to everyone, as they started to eat. "It's better than going hungry for two days." Allen said to Rayla as he joined the group, and ate some berries.
"Oh and I found these for you." Rayla said to Ezran as she pulled out two green rough berries. "Bogeyberries! These are perfect Rayla." Kali said to Rayla, as she took the berries and looked at them. "These will help with your cold." Kali said to Ezran, holding the berries out to him. "Really?" Allen asked Rayla and Kali. "Ancient Xadian cure for the common sniffles." Rayla said to Allen, as Ezran took the berries. He was about to eat them but Rayla stopped him.
"Mmm… nope. They don't go in your mouth." Rayla said to Ezran, confusing him. "To cure a stuffy nose, you've got to stuff 'em up your nose." Rayla said to Ezran, as she pointed to her nose. "Oh, seems doable." Ezran said to Rayla, as he put the berries in his nose.
"How's the egg doing?" Rayla asked Allen. "I want to say it's getting better, but it's not. I don't know what else to do." Allen said to Rayla. "Then what have you been doing since you got up?" Kali asked Allen. "Just doing my check ups on it to see if it has gotten better. I have hatched a egg before, so I know what a healthy egg looks like." Allen said to Kali. "You have?" Kali asked Allen. "Yeah, all Pokemon come from eggs, and me and Drake raised a couple of our Pokemon from eggs." Allen said to Kali.
"Wait, did you say all Pokemon come from eggs?" Kali asked Allen. "Yeah, Rockruff, Yanma, Formantis, all came from eggs, even though Rockruff is a dog, Yanma is a bug, and Formantis is a plant." Allen said to Kali. "Can you two finish this conversation later." Rayla said to Kali and Allen. "Oh right sure." Allen said to Rayla. "Allen can't you do anything?" Callum asked Allen. "Sorry, but no. whenever a problem like this comes up back home, people rush to the nearest Pokemon Center for help." Allen said to Callum.
"We gotta find help." Ezran said to everyone. "That's easier said than done." Drake said to everyone. "What do you mean?" Callum asked Drake. "Need I remind you that we're on the human side of the world. I doubt anyone here knows anything about a dragon egg." Drake said to Callum. "But what if we find a town. Maybe someone who's good with animals will be there?" Callum asked Drake. "Then we have the problem that we're traveling with two elves. We can't just walk into a town, without a "welcome party" from the town's people." Drake said to Callum.
"Drakes right, going to a town will be dangerous. But if we don't do some or else he dies." Ezran said to everyone. "There is no choice. We have to find a town and hope for the best." Allen said to everyone. "Then let's get going. I think I saw a town nearby." Rayla said as everyone started to gather their stuff, everyone but Drake. "I just want to state for the record that us going to a town will end badly." Drake said to everyone, before gathering his stuff.
Soon they started to leave, and said goodbye to the Beartics that saved Ezran's life, the egg, and gave them a safe place to rest for the night. After that they all followed Rayla to where she thought a town was at.
The Banther Lodge
As the gang started to look for the town. Claudia, and Soren, were riding on horse back to the Banther Lodge, with three dogs. One a brown and tan fur dog, a white and grey fur dog, and a black and white fur dog. Once they got to the Banther Lodge, Soren, and Claudia dismounted and looked at the doors to the Banther Lodge. Then Soren whistled the dogs to come to him. "These are the best tracking hounds in Katolis. One sniff, and they can follow someone's scent for miles." Soren said to Claudia, as he snapped his fingers.
"Couldn't you bring a Pokemon or two, to help us?" Claudia asked Soren. "Need I remind you that Pokemon aggressively dislikes you, or runs away from you, and even when they get to know you they still dislike you." Soren said to Claudia. "You don't have to remind me. I saw this cute Blue Flower Floette the other day and it ran away screaming." Claudia said to Soren, with a sad look on her face. "Okay enough of your Pokemon troubles let's get to work." Soren said to Claudia, as he pulled out a T-Shirt, that was covered in mud stains.
"The step-prince's training shirt." Soren said to Claudia. "It's so dirty." Claudia said to Soren as she looked at the shirt. "Yeah. Even with the twins helping every now and then. He spends most of his training falling in the mud. He's like the "mis-step" prince!" Soren said to Claudia, before laughing a little. "Uh…" Claudia said to Soren, not thinking it was funny. "You know, 'cause he trips and falls a lot?" Soren said to Claudia. "Oh, no, the joke was clear." Claudia said to Soren.
Soren then let the dog sniff the T-Shirt. Then the dogs started to move. "They found the trail!" Soren said, as he and Cludia mounted up and went after the dogs. Only to learn that the trail ends at the river that was a few feet away from them. "And.. they lost the trail." Soren said to Claudia. Claudia then dismounted and walked to the dogs. "Aw, god try, doggies." Claudia said to the dogs as she gave them some pets.
Mountains In Katolis
Back with the gang they found themselves on the outskirts of a town. "There it is! A town! I knew I saw smoke. Maybe we can find help." Rayla said to everyone. "Only one way to find out." Allen said to Rayla. "But remember what Drake said. Sure we might find a dragon egg expert. But we will definitely find a bunch of efl-hating humans." Callum said to Rayla. "Not Problem." Rayla said as she pulled out a cloak from Ezrans backpack. "Where did that cloak come from?" Drake asked, as Rayla put the Cloak on.
"Get ready to meet… Human Rayla!" Rayla said to everyone. "Yeah, I'm not sure that's gonna cut it." Callum said to Rayla. "At the very least it covers her horns." Drake said to everyone. "Just wait. Once I pair my disguise with my perfect human impression, the illusion will be complete." Rayla said to everyone. "Then let's hear it." Allen asked Rayla.
Greeting, fellow humans! Human fellows! I sure do like hanging out with other humans, and talking about things like money… and starting wars." Rayla asid to everyone. "That's pretty good, actually." Ezran said to everyone. "No not really." Drake said to Ezran. "Now don't be like that my good human friend! Bring it in. High four!" Rayla said to Drake, raising her right hand with four fingers.
Drake said nothing and looked at Kali. "I'm just going to stay quiet." Kali said to Drake, knowing that he was going to ask her that, as she raised her hood. "Good. Now for the next problem." Drake said to everyone, as he waved his five fingers. "Um... can you two impersonate a fifth finger?" Callum asked Rayla and Kali, "Right, right. We need some kind of a hand disguise." Rayla said to everyone. "You mean gloves." Allen said to Rayla. "Like the once on those two snowmen over there." Drake said to everyone, as he pointed to the two snowmen that were behind them, both having black gloves, and one had a red scarf, and the other had a green scarf.
"Drake right, a pair of snow-elves." Rayla said to everyone, before she and Kali ran to the snowmen. "I'm pretty sure those are snow-men." Ezran said to Rayla. "I'm sure snow-elves is the term used for snow-men in Xadia." Allen said to Ezran, as they went after the girls. The two girls then revoked the gloves and put them on.
"Hand disguise!" Rayla said to everyone, showing off her gloves. Then the pinkies of the glove saged. Rayla then started to wave her hands around. "Just don't shake hands with anyone." Callum said to Rayla. "Better yet just keep your hands next to your hips, so it doesn't look like you're missing a finger." Allen said to the girls. "Good idea, but what about your staff?" Kali asked Allen.
"Oh yeah we didn't think about that. Well since we took their gloves, might as well take their scarfs." Allen said to Kali, as he and Drake removed the scarfs off the snowmen, with Allen taking the red one, and Drake taking the green one. Then they wrapped the scarfs around the head of their staff. "There we go." Allen said to everyone. "I don't think wrapping the heads in fabric will be enough." Kali said to Allen. "Just wait Gorgeous, we still have to do one more thing." Allen said to Kali, as he and Drake reached for their Pokeballs and opened them.
Out of Allen's Pokeball, was a large swan with two patches of blue feathers on its chest. "Everyone, this is my girl Swanna." Allen said to everyone, as she flew and landed onto his staff
The one out of Drake's pokeball was a large eagle with a dark blue in the front feathers, red feathers on the back, the ends of it's red tails feathers were a yellow and blue line. It's head had white fur behind it red and white feathers, a sharp yellow beak, and sharp black talons on it's yellow feet. "Everyone, this is my boy, Braviary." Drake said to everyone, as Braviary flew and landed on his staff. "Braviary and Swanna?" Rayla asked Allen and Drake. "Here." Drake said as he pulled out his Pokedex.
Braviary / Valiant Pokemon / Normal + Flying Type / Known for its bravery and pride, this majestic Pokemon is often seen as a motif for various kinds of emblems.
Swanna / White Bird Pokemon / Water + Flying Type / Despite their elegant appearance, they can flap their wings strongly and fly for thousands of miles.
"Now we look like two guys traveling with their birds." Allen said to everyone, as Drake put away his Pokedex. "It might turn a few heads, but we should be fine." Drake said to everyone. "Then let's get going." Callum said to everyone, as they all started to move, all but Rayla. She stayed, and broke the carrot noses of the snowmen and put the broken carrots into the snowmen heads. "Snow-elves." Rayla said before going after the others.
Soon they all walked into town. "Just walking into town, without a care in the world, Despite my sub-century life expectancy." Rayla said as they walked. "Shh!" Callum said to Rayla. "That's the spirit!" Ezran said to Rayla. "Will all of you be quiet." Drake said to everyone before they found themselves behind a crowd. And in the middle of it was man white skin, blue eyes, dark blond hair, that was combed back, with a few strands of hair curled forward, and a handlebar mustache, and dressed in fancy traveling clothes.
"I defended the border against all manners of horrors and monstrosities. Things you can't even imagine. There's nothing I fear now. I even stood against things that made Pokemon run for the hills." The man said to the crowd, as the group moved closer to the front of the crowd. "In fact, I wager I could defeat any challenger here, with nothing but my dagger!" The man said, making the crowd gasp.
"What about you?" The man said as he pointed to a man in the crowd. And the man was going to fight him, but then a woman came and took him away. "Maybe... one of you?" The man said as he pointed to the group, and moved his finger around Rayla, Allen, Drake. Drake and Allen, were unfazed, but everyone else was worried, and why, cause the crowd was cheering for them to do it.
But then a very large man, with light brown skin, and hair, that was rolled into a ball at the top of his head, wearing leather armor, with patches on metal armor on it, came to the man, and pulled out a very large sword. "This isn't even my biggest sword." the large man said to the man. "Ooh! I'll take that bet!" A woman said as she pulled out some money. "My money on the big guy!" A man said as he pulled out a bag of money. "Mine, too!" Another man said as he and a lot of other people took out some money.
The man took this with a cocky smile and pulled out his dagger, revealing a blowing yellow blade. This surprised Rayla and Kali. While Drake and Allen looked at the man with an intense stare. "They're distracted. Let's go." Callum said to everyone. "Wait, you'll want to see this." Rayla said to Callum, stopping him from leaving. Meanwhile Kali's face went from surprised to anger.
Then the fight started. The big guy slammed his sword at the man. The man backed up and completely pulled out his dagger. He then charged at the big man, and used his dagger to cut the tip of the bing man's sword, his dagger light a knife through butter, and the big man's sword was the butter. The big man then tried to strike again, but the man dodged and cut the big man's sword even more.
In no time at all the big man's sword was cut down to a little past the hilt. "Well… I certainly hope that wasn't your biggest sword." The man said to the big man, as he pushed what remind of the big man's sword back, making the crowd laugh. This made the big man run away crying. Which upset Allen. "Ha! Anyone else?" The man asked everyone, as he collected his money. "Me." Allen said as he stepped forward, surprising everyone.
"Oh ho. Very well I'll try and go easy on you kid." The man said to Allen. "Why don't we make this interesting." Allen said to the man. "Oh you want to bet your fancy stick, fine but there won't be anything left of it when I'm done. But if you do win I'll give you all this money. Do we have a deal?" The man asked Allen. "Not that kind of interesting. I mean hand to hand. No weapons, no armor. Just you and me bare knuckles." Allen said to the man, as he slammed his staff into the ground, with Swanna still on it.
"Oh Sorry, but I forgot I have to get going." The man said before he left. Once he was gone the crowd started to disperse, and the rest of the gang moved closer to Allen. "Hey Rayla, Kali. what was that?" Callum asked the girl. "It's a Sunforge blade!" Rayla said to Callum. "Wow! I can't believe I just saw a real Sunforge blade. What's a Sunforge blade?" Ezran asked Rayla. "In Xaida, Sunfire elves can make magic weapons that stay as hot as the moment they're forged for hundreds of years." Rayla said to everyone.
"But those blades are extremely rare. Everything about them is rare. From the blade itself, to the handle, and even it's sheath." Kali said to Ezran. "What do you mean?" Ezran asked Kali. "You see the sheath is made out of heat resting leather, then is inscribed with special runes to help keep the heat in otherwise…" Kali said to Ezran but was interrupted by Ezran. "His pants would be on fire?" Ezran asked Kali.
"Yeah. His legs, too. But where did he get that blade? I've only ever seen one other elf with a Sunforge blade." Kali said to Ezran and asked herself. "Why only one? If I could make blades like that I would be mass producing them." Drake said to Kali. "Like I said everything about them is rare, even the meaterals, and even if you get all the materials. Making the blade is not easy. That short dagger is probably the easiest vision of a Sunforge blade to make, but even then it's still hard to make." Kali said to Drake.
"If that's the case. Then how does he have it?" Drake asked Kali. "I don't know?" Kali said to Drake. "Maybe he stole it. After all he was acting tough when he could use the Sunforge blade, but the second I challenged him to a fist fight, he made up an excuse and ran away." Allen said to everyone, as he pulled his staff out of the ground. "Well a blade that can cut through anything, would be a big confidence boost." Drake said to Allen, giving Callum an idea.
"Hey Rayla, and Kali is Drake right when he said it can cut through anything?" Callum asked the girl. "He's correct. Those blades can cut anything." Kali said to Callum. "Like an arm band?" Drake asked Kali, realising what Callum was getting at. "My wrist binging!" Rayla said, as everyone realized what Callums idea was. "You have to go get that dagger." Callum said to Rayla. "But what about the egg?" Rayla asked Callum. "We'll find help for the egg. Just meet back here at the statue." Callum said to Rayla. "How will you get that dagger?" Ezran asked Rayla.
"I'm going to ask nicely." Rayla said as she left the group with Gligar. "I'll go with her, she might need a Sunfire elf to help with the blade." Kali said to everyone, as she and Fomantis went after Rayla and Gligar. "And I'll go with them to run human interference." Allen said to everyone, as he went after the girls and their Pokemon.
The Banther Lodge
Back at the Banther Lodge Claudia and Soren, where on the bridge over the river next to the lodge trying to figure out what to do. "What are we gonna do?" Soren asked Claudia. "Can you just be quiet for a minute? I'm trying to think." Claudia said to Soren. "Every minute we sit here, the step-prince, the crown runt, and the freak twins, get further and further away." Soren said to Claudia. "I know a tracking spell, but first I need something from the princes or the twins." Claudia said to Soren.
"We have this?" Soren said to Clauida , pulling out Callum's shirt. "No, something more personal than a shirt." Claudia said to Soren. "You mean like… underwear?" Soren asked Claudia. "No, gross! I mean like spit or toenails." Claudia said to Soren. "We don't have time to search the whole lodge for toenails, Claudia!" Soren said to Claudia, as he turned to the lodge.
"Well, I don't see you doing anything helpful!" Claudia said to Soren, moving to his side. "We have to do this! If I fail, I don't know what Dad will do to me! And I'm already failing at step one, never mind..." Soren said to Cluadia, but stopped when he noticed an arrow in a tree. "Never mind what?" Claudia asked Soren. But Soren didn't answer, he just moved to get a closer look at the arrow. Then Soren noticed that the arrow had Rayla braid on it.
"You said something like spit or toenails. What about elf hair?" Soren asked Claudia as he removed the arrow from the tree and brought it to Claudia with Rayla's braid still on it. "Yes! That's perfect! We'll find Callum, Ezran, and the twins wherever we find that vile, bloodthirsty even assassin and her little Sunfire friend. Cute braid, though!" Claudia said to Soren, as she took the arrow.
The Town In The Mountains
Back at the town, Drake, Ezran, Callum, Bait, and their Pokemon were standing in front of a wood sign that had a carving of a dog, horse, and heart on it. "Look! Do you think this is some kind of animal doctor?" Ezran asked everyone. "You mean a vet." Drake said to Ezran. "I think so. Or… a dating service for pets?" Callum said to Ezran. I don't think this place is a breeding program." Drake said to Callum. "A what?" Callum asked Drake. "Never mind." Drake said to Callum. "Well it's probably an animal doctor. But that's a good idea Callum! Right, Bait?" Ezran said to everyone, making Bait turn light purple.
Then the group entered the building. "I'll be right with you!" A man said getting everyone's attention. Everyone then saw a elderly man with brown skin, short curly dark gray hair, a large handlebar mustache, and a beard covering his chin. He was wearing a brown vest over a white shirt, an apron, black gloves, a tool belt, a red scarf, and a pair of glasses. This man was tending to a white horse.
The group then moved to the man and noticed a few more horses in the building. The man then turned to the group and got a look at Bait. "Oh, I'm so sorry. There's nothing I can do for that poor creature." The man said to everyone. "What?" Callum said as he looked at Bait. "Where not here for him Doc." Drake said to the man. "Yeah, he's fine. We have, uh, a different problem." Callum said to Doc, as the white horse whinnied.
"Oh, what happened to you, little sweetie?" Ezran asked the horse. The horse whinnied. "Aww! You saw something really scary, didn't you?" Ezran asked the horse. "She sure did. This one ran away up the Cursed Caldera. Whatever she saw, she's lucky it only scared her. Won't make that mistake again!" Doc said as he gave the horse a bucket of water. "So… what can I help you with?" Doc asked everyone. "Ah what do you know about eggs?" Drake asked Doc.
Meanwhile the girls, Allen, and their Pokemon were following the man with the Sunforge blade, with Swanna flying in the sky keeping an eye on the man. They kept an eye on him. But when he thought he saw then, he started to run as fast as he could. Everyone then started to run after him. He ducked into an alley, making everyone pass him. Rayla then jumped up and onto a roof, with everyone else staying on the ground, and Glidar following her. Then Rayla started to run, with Gligar and Swanna following her.
"Sure used the roof, why to keep a low." Kali said to Rayla, as she, Allen, and Fomantis, ran down the alleyway. The man tried to lose them and even jumped over a hay cart to try and lose them. But all he ended up doing was trap himself in a dead end. Feeling boxed in he pulled out the Sunforge blade.
That's when Rayla jumped down from the roofs with Gligar and Swanna. This caused the man to back up. And it was at time Allen and Kali came up, and Allen grabbed Kali, while Fomantis jumped onto Kali's back, and used his staff as a pole to jump over the hay cart, letting her go once they were on the other side of the cart. This caused the man to back against a wall, with Rayla, Gligar and Swanna on his right, and Allen, Kali, and Fomantis on his left.
"I won that money fair and square!" The man said to everyone. "Fair and square? You have a blade that can cut through metal like butter. There's nothing fair and square about that." Allen said to the man. "We don't want your money." Rayla said to the man. "Then what do you want from me?" The man asked everyone. "I want your help." Rayla said to the man, surprising the man.
Back with the others everyone was sitting at a table, while Bait was trying to get some water from the bucket the horse was drinking from. "Tell me exactly what's going on." Doc asked everyone. "Well, uh… A friend of ours has a problem." Callum said to Doc. "Jofus." Ezran said to Doc. "Your friend's name is Jofus?" Doc asked Ezran. "It's a real name." Ezran said to DOc.
"Mmm-hmm. Yep. Real name. Our friend, Jofus, has an egg. An animal egg. He's been taking really good care of it. You know, keeping it warm, and safe… warped in blankets. Except one time he dropped it into an icy lake for several minutes." Callum said to Doc, as Drake slapped his right hand into his face. "Anywho…" Callum said to Doc, but was interrupted by Doc.
"Uh, Sorry, what was that?" Doc asked Callum. "He dropped it into an icy lake." Ezran said to Doc. "Joseph. Uh, Jofus. Jofus did. This was Jofus." Callum said to Doc, making Drake slam his head into the table. "Right, of course. That sounds bad." Doc said to everyone. "Yeah. We're worried it's hurt. The egg is colder, and it doesn't glow like it used to." Callum said to Doc, making Drake raise his head and give Callum a serious look.
"Wait, a glowing egg?" Doc asked everyone. "Uh… Yes?" Callum said to Doc. Doc then stood up. "Look, I can tell you have a real problem. I want to help, but I won't be able to unless you tell me what's really going on." Doc said to everyone. Everyone then looked at each other. "I promise you, I'm not going to get you in trouble." Doc said to everyone. "You can't tell anyone." Ezran said to Doc. "I won't, okay? But you need to trust me." Doc said to everyone.
Everyone turned and nodded their heads in agreement. "Okay then here's the story. We found this egg some time ago, and were traveling with it. But yesterday, when we were traveling through the mountains, the egg fell out and broke and threw some ice that was covering a frozen lake." Drake said to Doc. "What egg did you find?" Doc asked Drake. "Ezran show him." Drake said to Ezran. Ezran then put his backpack on the table and opened it. Revealing the egg to Doc. This made Doc gasp.
Back with the girls and Allen, the man still had his guard on. "Wait! We don't want to fight you. I just want to borrow your blade to cut this." Rayla said to the man, showing her armband to the man. "Oh, you just want to "borrow" it. Do you know how valuable-" The man said to Rayla, but Rayla interrupted him. "Fine. you hold it. Just cut this thing off me." Rayla said to the man.
"But it'll burn you." The man said to Rayla. "I don't care! Just do it, please." Rayla said to the man. The man just looked at Rayla before he grabbed her and tried to cut the armband, but he messed up and cut Rayla's glove, catching it fire. This caused Rayla to swing her hand wildly, hitting Kali in the face, making Kali place her hands onto her face. "Rayla be careful." Kali said as she removed her hand, accidentally removing her hood as well revealing her horns, at the same time Rayla removed the buuring glove and threw it off revealing her four fingers.
And thanks to these two things, the man realised Kali and Rayla were Elves. "You two are elves." The man said, getting a bit more aggressive. "Who us? We're just simple human girls who like the human things, like bread, and complaining all the time." Rayla said to the man, making Allen and Kali look at her with a "seriously" look on their faces. "No! You're an elf!" You boy are you an elf to?" The man asked Allen pointing the Sunforge blade at everyone. "No I'm human." Allen said to the man revealing his five fingers.
"Fine, I'm an elf." Rayla said to the man before she quickly moved and grabbed the dagger, elbowed the man in the chin, and tossed him. The man then got on his hands and knees. "Clam down, this will only take a second." Rayla said to the man, before she tried to cut off the armband. But even the blade couldn't cut it. "No! Nothing can cut this stupid binding! Ugh!" Rayla said in frustration.
Then the man lowered his head and placed his hands over his head. "Just take the dagger! Don't hurt me, please!" The man said to Rayla. "I know it. You act all big and tough. But that only causes you have a dagger that can cut through anything. A dagger that you probably stole." Allen said to the man using his staff to force him to his back. "You are unworth to have this dagger." Allen said to the man, as he removed the blades sheath. "No please I'm nothing without it." The man said to Allen, as Allen took the dagger from Rayla. "You're nothing with it. It's time you find out who you really are and what you're really worth." Allen said to the man, as he put the blade in its sheath.
"Let's go." Allen said to everyone, as they left the man. After a minute of walking Allen handed the dagger to Kali. "Allen what are you doing?" Kali asked Allen. "This dagger deserves to be in the hands of someone who understands it's value." Allen said to Kali. "Then you should keep it. I'm not a fighter." Kali said to Allen. "I didn't say anything about fighting. You can use it as you seem fit. I just know that the only person that knows the value of a Sunforge blade is a Sunfire Elf." Allen said to Kali. "Thank you Allen." Kali said as she took the blade.
The Mountains
Meanwhile with Claudia and Soren. Claudia was looking around for something, with Soren standing nearby. "So… what are we doing here?" Soren asked Claudia. "I just need one more thing for the tracking spell." Claudia said to Soren. "Hmm. Special rocks? Magic twig?" Soren asked Claudia. Claudia said nothing and keeped searching. Then she found a crack in the side of the mountain. "Ah, here it is!" Claudia said as she entered the crack. "This way!" Claudia said to Soren, as she went deeper into the crack.
Soren then moved to the crack, and noticed how small it was. "You're kidding, right?" Soren asked himself, as he entered the crack. "If only… I weren't… so muscular." Soren said as she struggled to move through the crack.
The Town In The Mountains
Back with Ezran, Callum, Drake, Bait, and their Pokemon. Doc was looking at the egg with wonder in his eye. "That's a dragon egg, isn't it?" Doc asked everyone. "Yes it is." Drake said to Doc. "I've never seen one before. Only pictures in books." Doc said to everyone. "Can you help us?" Drake asked Doc. "I'll do what I can." Doc said to Drake, before he started to tap on the egg.
"I do hear a heartbeat." Doc said to everyone, after a few taps. "That's good, right?" Ezran asked Doc. "It's faint, and slow. I'm afraid it's dying." Doc said to everyone, shocking everyone. "I don't know what I can do to save it. I'm so sorry." Doc said to everyone, as he let go of the egg. "No! There has to be something you can do! Anything! Please…" Ezran asked Doc, as he hugged the egg. "Come on, Ez, let's go. We'll find another way." Callum said to Ezran, as he, Bait, and all the Pokemon joined in the hug.
"Come on Doc there's got to be something? Even a long shot? This egg is important, not just to us, but for a lot of people! So I'm begging! Please help us?" Drake asked Doc. Doc then signed. "I'm hesitant to tell you about this, because it might be incredibly dangerous." Doc said to everyone. "If it will save this egg, we'll risk it." Drake said to Doc. "Okay. There was a miracle that happened a few years ago, but it happened… on the Cursed Caldera." Doc said to everyone. "Okay, anything else we should know before we walked up a place called the Cursed Caldera?" Drake asked Doc. "There's someone you should meet." Doc said to everyone.
Later everyone, but Doc, found themselves in front of a house on the edge of town. There is a small girl that's about Ezran age, with copper-brown skin, brown eyes, with braided brown hair, wearing winter gear, and a fur hat. Next to her was a large wolf with light brown fur, lighter underside, and a dark brown nose, wearing a blue collar with a blue stone on it. Noticed them and let them inside.
"I'm Ellis." The girl said to everyone. "And this is my sweetie wolf, Ava!" Ellis said as she gave some love to her wolf. "She is beautiful." Drake said to Ellis. "Thanks raised her myself." Ellis said to Drake. "May I?" Drake asked Ellis. Ellis nodded yes. Drake then took a look at Ava. "Strong. Healthy. And happy. You have done well raising her. " Drake said to Ellis, after finish looking at Ava.
"Thank you." Ellis said to Drake. Then Rockruff came up to Ava and wagged his tail. "Rockruff." Rockruff said before barking. Then Ava barked and the two of them started to play on the floor together. "Looks like Rockruff like Ava." Ezran said to everyone. "Well our little boy Rockruff will be a wolf when he's older." Drake asid to Ezran.
"So what's it like like having a Pokemon?" Ellis asked everyone. "Is that why you let us in? You wanted to know about our Pokemon?" Ezran asked Ellis. "Yeah. I mean Pokemon are amazing. Me and Ava saw a few people passing through town with Pokemon, having the times of their lives." Ava said to everyone. "Well we do. Pokemon are strong, wise, sometimes funny, but always get traveling buddies." Ezran said to Ellis. "And if Ava here is any indication, you will make a Pokemon very happy." Drake said to Ellis.
"Ah thank you. Too bad my parents won't let me have one." Ellis said to Drake. "Why not?" Drake asked Ellis. "My parents say having Ava is already too much for us, so they won't let a single Pokemon join us." Ellis said to Drake. "Ah hum. We were told about a miracle. Can you tell us about it?" Callum asked Ellis.
"Sure but. I still don't really understand how it happened. But I do know this… without it, Ava would be dead." Ellis said to everyone. "Please tell us what happened?" Drake asked Ellis.
The Past
The sense starters with a Puppy Ava trapped in a bear trap, and hollowing in pain.
"Two years ago, I found her in the woods, when she was just a little cub." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis ran to Puppy Ava.
"Somehow, she got herself caught in a hunter's trap. Her front paw was crushed in the rusty metal jaws. And she was scared." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis found Ava in the trap, her front right paw in the teeth of the bear trap.
"But she still had fight in her!" Ava said to everyone, as Past Ava kneeled down to Puppy Ava.
"I know you're hurting. It's okay! I want to help you!" Past Ellis said to Puppy Ava. Puppy Ava then calmed down and let Past Ellis help her.
"I got her free, and took her back to the village." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis freed Puppy Ava and took her away.
"But things got worse." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Doc, looked at Puppy Ava.
"Her leg is too badly hurt. It'll have to be removed." Past dog said to Past Ellis, making Past Ellis cry and she hugged Puppy Ava.
Some time later Puppy Ava was living with Past Ellis and her parents, only having three legs. Then it was time to eat, and Past Ellis got up, walked to Puppy Ava, and gave Puppy Ava some of her food. "We have too many mouths to feed already." Ellis Father said to Past Ellis. "Please! Just for a few weeks, while she gets stronger! Then we can send her back to the forest." Past Ellis said to her Father.
"The pack won't accept her like this. They'll let her die." Ellis Father said as he got up, and walked to Past Ellis. "Ellis." Ellis Father said, as he placed a hand on her right shoulder. "I know it's hard to accept, but putting her down now is an act of kindness. Otherwise, she'll only suffer." Ellis Father said to Past Ellis. But then Past Ellis looked at Puppy Ava, and started to cry. "No!" Past Ellis said as she grabbed Puppy Ava and ran out the door.
"I took her where no one would follow us. Up the slope of the Cursed Caldera." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis walked through a harsh blizzard.
"It was like the legends said. The higher we climbed… the more terrifying creatures lucked in the shadows." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis came face to face, with glowing, scary, faces.
"But we kept going." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis moved past the faces.
Then Past Ellis ducked into a tree that had a large opening and space in it. "I won't ever leave you. We're gonna make it through this!" Past Ellis said to Puppy Ava, as she hugged her tightly and cried.
"I was trying to make Ava feel better, But inside, I knew all was lost. That's when it happened." Ellis said to everyone, as Past Ellis noticed a figure standing in front of her, with moonlight shining behind the figure.
"Oh, what a beautiful creature!" The figure said with a gentle female voice. "No… She's hurt." Past Ellis said to the figure as she let Puppy Ava go. Puppy Ava then moved to the figure. The figure then picked up Puppy Ava. "She's perfect." The figure said to Past Ellis, as a blinding light filled the area, making Past Ellis cover her eyes with her left arm.
When the light faded, the figure put Puppy Ava down, who now had her collar and four legs. Puppy Ava then ran to Ellis and gave some kisses. Past Ellis was about to thank the figure, only to notice the figure was gone.
The Town In The Mountains
"We have to find this miracle healer." Callum said to everyone, after Ellis finished her story. "If she can save a club's missing paw…" Callum said to everyone. "Maybe she can save a dragon egg!" Ezran said Callum, finishing Callum's sentence. "Wait, a what?" Ellis asked everyone. "Nothing. Thanks for the story. We'll be going now, later." Drake said as she pushed Callum and Ezran out of the house, with the Pokemon following them. Ellis just gave them a wired look.

Meanwhile Claudia was leading Soren, through the crack, with her hand being a flashlight. "This is why I hate magic. It always involves something really creepy." Soren said to Claudia as he followed her, then touched something. "Ugh! Gross!" Soren said as he looked at his hands.
Then they came to a fork in the road, and had no idea which way to go. "Oh, where is it?" Claudia asked herself. "Wait! I know how to find it." Claudia said as she put out her hand light. "What are you doing? I can't see a thing!" Soren asked Claudia. "Shh!" Claudia said to Soren. "Oh, can you see better if I'm quiet?" Soren asked Claudia. "Give it a moment. Let your eyes adjust." Claudia said to Soren.
A few seconds later their eyes adjusted and saw a faint light coming from one of the tunnels. "Look! There!" Claudia said to Soren, as she went down a tunnel, with Soren following her.
Soon they found themselves in a cavern that had some trees, grass, bushes, and was filled with glowing insects. "Still think magic is creepy and gross?" Claudia asked Soren, as she pulled out a jar. Claudia then opened the jar and caught a few of the glowing insects inside it before closing it. "All right, so what else do we need for this spell?" Soren asked Claudia. "Nothing! We're all set." Claudia said to Soren, as she looked at the jar.
"Really? Great!" Soren said to Claudia. "All we have to do now is climb to the top of the tallest mountain in Katolis." Claudia said to Soren, making him give her a "really" look. "It's a fun spell." Claudia said to Soren, flashing a big smile. Then a loud, ood sound filled the cavern. Soren and Claudia looked up to see a flock of bats.
Somewhere tiny blue bats with light purple wings with a blue edge, a mouth with four sharp teeth, no eyes, and two large ears that had a light purple color on the inside, and a blue color on the outside.
Most were large blue bats with purple wings with a blue edge, a mouth that covered most of their bodies with four sharp teeth, white eyes, two legs with pincer-like feet, tiny ears, with a light purple color on the inside, and a blue color on the outside.
And a few were purple bats with four wings, two being light blue wings with a purple edge, and the other two being solid purple, a small mouth full of teeth, yellow eyes with red iris, and two stubby three toed feet on the bottom.
"Your spell just had to take us into a nest of Zubats, Goldbats, and Crobats." Soren said to Claudia, as he entered the cave they came from, only to get stuck. "A little help." Soren asked Claudia. Then the Zubats, Goldbats, and Crobats, started to charge at them with all of their teeth glowing purple. "Why did you go first." Claudia said to Soren, as she pushed him, while dodging to dive bombing Zubats, Goldbats, and Crobats.
She was able to free Soren, and the two of them started to leave. Not that Zubats, Goldbats, and Crobats care. They all still went after Soren and Claudia. Then the sound of pain echoed in the cave.
The Town In The Mountains
While Soren and Claudia were getting attacked by the Pokemon. Allen, Rayla, Kali, and their Pokemon were waiting by the statue for the others, with the Pokemon laying next to their partners' sides, with Swanna resting on Allen's staff. Then everyone else came running. "Did you find the knife guy? Did you get his knife?" Ezran asked Rayla, as they got close. Rayla didn't say anything and showed her left arm, which still had the armband on it. Then the girls took off their hoods.
"The bad news is that the Sunforge blade didn't work. The good news is that the binding will fall off naturally… when my hand does." Rayla said to everyone, making them wince. "Ah, Rayla, I'm sorry." Callum said to Rayla, as everyone took a set, with their partner Pokemon joining them, and Braviary taking a set on Drake's staff. "It's fine. Tell me something good happened with the egg." Rayla asked everyone.
"Yes and no. Well… well, no. not yet, but maybe! So, yes? In a way?" Callum said to Rayla. "Okay, that's averaging out to be around a maybe-minus." Rayla said to Callum. "And it sounds like you didn't get the help we need, but you know where we can get it." Allen said to Callum. "Yeah, that's about right." Callum said to Rayla and Allen. "So what did you learn?" Kali asked Callum.
"We learned about a miracle healer. Someone who might be able to help the egg. And maybe Rayla's hand, too!" Ezran said to everyone. "Really?" Rayla asked Ezran. "Why do I get the feeling there's a "but" coming." Allen said to everyone. "No but. The only catch is, the healer lives up there…" Callum said to everyone, as he pointed to a nearby mountain. "And why is that a catch?" Kali asked Callum. "It's called the Cursed Caldera." Callum said to Kali.
"Please tell me it's named that because it was discovered by the great explorer, Sir Phineas Cursed." Rayla asked Callum. "Well, actually, it's because it's infested with horrible monsters-" Callum said to Rayla, but was interrupted by Rayla. "Yean, no, I know." Rayla said to everyone. "So we have to travel through a monster infested area, and hope we find this person, if he or she is real?" Allen asked everyone. "That's the plan." Drake said to everyone. "Can anything else go wrong." Allen said to everyone.
"There they are! Those girls are elves!" A voice said. Everyone then turned to see the man that had the Sunforge Dagger, with an angry mob standing near them. "Me and my big mouth." Allen said as the mob started to charge. "Oh, right. I forgot about the other bad news." Rayla said to everyone, before they all took off running, with Swanna and Braviary still on Drake's and Allen's staff. "Get back here!" The man said to everyone.
"What's his problem?" Drake asked everyone. "He's probably upset that we took his dagger." Kali said to Drake, as she showed him the dagger. "You stole that?!" Drake asked Kali. "I didn't, Allen did." Kali said, making Drake look at Allen. "The man is a coward and weakling. I regret nothing." Allen said as they ran into another part of the mob, with the big man leading them.
"Braviary use Whirlwind!" Drake said to Braviary. "Braviary." Braviary said to Drake, as he got off Drakes staff. Then Braviary flapped his wings, blasting the mod with a burst of wind, knocking them off their feet. "Swanna Ice beam." Allen said to Swanna. "Swanna." Swanna said to Allen as she got off Allen's staff and fired a light blue beam at the mod, lightly freezing them to the ground.
"Run!" Drake said to everyone, as the mod started to break free of the ice and got back on their feet. But before the mob could get totally free, they all took off running, with Swanna and Braviary flying behind them.
Soon the gang ran across a bridge with the mod right behind them. "Allen help me. Dragon Breath." Drake said as he aimed his staff at the bridge. "Okay Dragon Breath." Allen said as he aimed his staff at the bridge. Then the two staffs fired a burst of teal energy, burning away the scarfs covering them, and bistorying the bridge. This stopped the mob, and made them take a different route to the gang.
This moment of relief, gave them the time they needed to get out of the town. But then the mob caught up to them, but the mob stopped when they realised where they were going. "Forget it. No point following them up there. They'll never make it out alive." The man said to the mob, as they watched the gang head up to the Cursed Caldera.
