Now Chapter 17.

Chapter 17

The Book Of Destiny And The Crossroad of Fate

A Forest Area Of Katolis

While it was raining, Rayla was helping a very weak Callum walk. With kali helping Allen, and everyone else walking around them. "Come on. We've gotta keep moving. We're so close to the border. We could be in Xadia in just a few hours." Rayla said to everyone. "I know we're close, Rayla, but Callum's not doing well." Ezran said to Rayla.

"That's his own fault for messing with dark magic." Rayla said to Ezran. "Only because we were too slow to free that dragon." Kali said to Rayla. "And from him trying to prove he had some worth." Allen said to Rayla. Rayla then looked at Callum. "Mmm-hmm. Yes, Rayla right, we must onward." Callum half awake said to everyone, before falling to the ground.

Everyone helped him up. "I'm okay." Callum said to everyone. "Callum, you're pale, and your eyes have a purple outline. You're not okay!" Drake said to Callum. "I'm fine. I just need to rest my eyes while we walk." Callum said to everyone. This convinced Rayla that they needed to find a place to treat Callum.

Back with Claudia and Soren, Soren was still on the ground, still unable to move, as Claudia examined him. "I don't feel anything." Soren said to Claudia. "Can you feel it when I do this?" Claudia asked Soren, pinching his fingers. "Now, what are you doing?" Soren asked Claudia. "I'm pinching you, Soren." Claudia said to Soren. "Well, that's just rude." Soren said to Claudia.

"Hold on. I'll have you back on your feet in no time." Claudia said to Soren, pulling out a flower from her bag. Claudia broke off the petals, and placed them in Soren's eyes. "And the last step has just a tad of grasshopper goop." Claudia said to Soren, pulling out a vile with green goo in it, and poured it onto the last of the petals. "Oh, do we really have to-." Soren said to Claudia, but Claudia sut him off, by placing the goo covered petals in Soren's mouth.

Claudia then sprinkled some hard moss on Soren. Claudia then started to chant a dark spell. The spell made the moss swarm around Soren, with the petals burning away. But nothing happened. "Well, that was super pretty, but I still can't move." Sorne said to Claudia, making Claudia freak out.

"You can't? But that should have… Hold on. I must have something." Claudia said to Soren, before dumping all the stuff out of her bag. Claudia frantically searched through her stuff, but it was all junk for this problem. "Ugh, that's all I have for healing." Claudia said, freaking out more. Then Claudia noticed the knights looking at her. "Well, don't just stand there! Help me get him back to town. We need to find a doctor." Claudia said to the knights, as they all grabbed Soren.

Back in the cave, the gang reached it, and laid Callum down. "I'm so uncomfortable." Callum said to everyone. "Uncomfortable with your choice to use dark magic, perhaps?" Rayla asked Callum. "Rayla!" Ezran said to Rayla. "Rayla, this is serious. We can give him a hard time when he's better." Kali said to Rayla, as Ezran, tried to fluff a bag like a pillow. "Is that any better?" Ezran asked Callum. "So uncomfortable." Callum said to everyone, with his eyes closed.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, Callum was laying on a massive pile of keys. "I'm so uncomfortable!" His voice echoed in his mind. Callum grabbed a few keys and looked at them. But he dropped them onto the pile. This made a red light glow from the pile. "Something's down there." Callum said, as he dug through the pile, and pulled out The Cube, but he saw the dark magic symbol on it, and it glowing red. "No!" Callum said, before tossing the cube. But then a cloaked figure caught the cube.

The Castle In Katolis

Back in the castle Opal was informing the council about Viren, with Chimecho behind her. Then the guard Gligar saved, and a few other guards walked in. "We've searched everywhere. Lord Viren is nowhere to be found." The guard said to Opal. "Keep Looking. And when you do find him, be ready for anything. Do not underestimate him." Opal said to the guard.

With Viren, he was staring at the elf in the mirror. "Who are you?" Viren asked the elf. "My name would mean nothing to you." The elf said to Viren. "Where are you?" Viren asked the elf. "I don't know." The Elf said to Vrien. "Don't lie to me." Viren said to the elf. "I'm not lying. I never lie." The elf said to Viren. "I found this mirror in the lair of the Dragon King. This mirror meant something to him. You meant something to him." Viren said to the elf, as he wrapped some gauze around his cut.

"Perhaps. Tell me what you need, and I will help you." The elf said to Viren. "I need your name." Viren said to the elf. The elf took off his hood, revealing his horns, which had a point, then curved up from behind the point, and another point on the bottom of the curve. "Aaravos." The elf said to Viren. Viren then took off the caterpillar, and put it in a jar. Viren put the jar on the table, and left the room.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, Callum got off the pile, and walked to the cloaked figure. After a few seconds Callum reached the cloaked figure. "Who are you?" Callum asked the figure.

A Forest Area Of Katolis

Back in the cave, Callum was mumbling words. "Who…who are you?" Callum asked, as Kali whipped a wet rag on Callum's head. "He's delirious." Rayla said to everyone. "We know." Drake said to Rayla. "It's getting worse." Ezran said to everyone. "Kali, can't you do something?" Allen asked Kali. "No. back home, the treatment for dark magic is to burn them alive until they die." Kali said to Allen. "Yeah, let's not do that." Drake said to everyone.

Then some stones started to move, alerting Rayla, Allen, and Drake. They ordered everyone else to be quiet, and went to investigate the rocks. "Who's there? Show yourself, or I'll greet you with my pointy friends." Rayla said, as she pulled out her blades, and the twins powered up their staffs. That's when Corvus and Staraptor appeared, ready for a fight. "You two." Rayla said to Corvus and Staraptor, as she got ready to fight, and Gligar joined her.

"Whoa, all of you stand down. I think we are all on the same side here. So can we please talk first." Drake asid to Rayla, Corvus, Gligar, and Staraptor, as he and Allen got in the middle of them. Then Corvus noticed Ezran, and raised his hands. "I'm not here to fight." Corvus said to everyone, putting his chain on the ground.

"Corvus what are you and Staraptor doing here?" Allen asked Corvus. "General Amaya sent me. I need to talk to Ezran." Corvus said to Allen. Rayla, Allen, Drake, and Gligar moved to the side, letting Corvus and Staraptor walk past them. "I am her to serve the king. King Ezran." Corvus said to Ezran, kneeling to Ezran. "Staraptor." Staraptor said to Ezran, bowing to Ezran. It took Ezran a few seconds to try and understand what he was talking about.

Back in the town. Claudia was waiting in the waiting room of the town hospital, as a female doctor examined Soren. When the doctor was done, she closed some curtains giving Soren some privates, and walked to Claudia. "Well? How long will it take for him to get better?" Claudia asked the doctor.

"He's not going to get better." The doctor said to Claudia. "What?" Claudia asked the doctor. "He won't die. He's lucky to have survived a direct attack from a dragon. Soren said it could have been worse, if Drake didn't protect him while he was wounded. But he's never going to walk again." The Doctor said to Claudia, surprising Claudia. Claudia took a few steps away from the doctor. "I haven't told him yet." The doctor said to Claudia. "Don't. I'll tell him. He should hear it from me." Claudia said to the doctor.

Back with the group, Ezran was trying to understand what Corvus was saying. "But I'm not the king. I'm just a prince. My dad is…" Ezran said to Corvus, before putting it together. "Wait. That's what you're saying. He isn't…" Ezran said to corvus, before Drake put his hand on Ezran's shoulder. "Ezran, I'm sorry. But he's gone." Drake said to Ezran, kneeling down.

"No! No, no, no!" Ezran said, shaking Drake off him and moving away from everyone. "Ezran, it's going to be okay." Rayla said, as the gang started to cry a little. "You knew? You all knew? I'm an idiot! I should have figured it out. When we met you Rayla, you had two of those assassin ribbony things, But one of them came off that night." Ezran said to everyone.

"That's right. That must have been when he fell." Rayla said to Ezran, as everyone kneeled down in front of him. "Fell?!" Ezran asked Rayla. "Yes." Rayla said to Ezran. "Fell? He didn't fall, Rayla. He didn't trip and land on the ground. He got killed!" Ezran said to Rayla, making her cry more.

"Ezran. Your father knew he was going to pay for his mistakes that night, and he wanted you and your brother safe. So he sent you away, it was all he could do." Drake said to Ezran, as Ezran started to break down and cry. "It's okay Ezran. We got you." Drake said to Ezran, hugging him and rubbing his back. A few seconds later, Ezran broke the hug, and whipped his eyes.

"Calllum… does he know yet?" Ezran asked everyone. "He knows." Rayla said to Ezran. "He wanted to tell you, but he couldn't find the words." Allen asid to Ezran. "I'm going for a walk." Ezran said to everyone, as she started to leave with a little anger in him. "I can't let you go alone." Corvus said to Ezran, getting in front of Ezran. "If I am the king, then you have to let me go." Ezran said to Corvus. Corvus moved out of Ezran's way.

"You're not my king." Rayla said to Ezran, making Ezran stop. "But you are my friend, and I'm coming with you." Rayla said to Ezran. "Rayla, please. Just let me go be alone. Please." Ezran said to Rayla, before leaving, leaving Bait, Zym, and Rockruff with the gang.

The Castle In Katolis

In the castle Viren was moving through the shadows, avoiding the guards, and made it to the castle library. He looked through the library, picking out scrolls and books. "Let's see here. Aaravos… Aaravos… Aaravos! There!" Viren said, looking through a book and found it. But suddenly the ink bled and consumed the book in black. "What? What's going on here? Viren asked, before opening another book.

Viren then found another page with Aaravos, and again the ink bled. Viren then watched as all the books and scrolls he got turned black. "What's happening?" Viren asked. This got the attention of the librarian. "Shh! You're in a library." the librarian said to Viren. "Yes, I'm quite aware I'm in a-." Viren said to the librarian, but she shh him, making Viren go quiet.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, Callum was looking at the cloaked figure. But then the cloak figure turned to Callum, revealing it was him. "Callum, don't be frightened." the copy said To Callum. "I'm not, I'm just…" Callum said to the copy. "Confused." Both of them said at the same time. "Of course you are. You tried dark magic for the first time. No one expects that to be easy." The copy said to Callum.

"But that's the thing. It was easy. Too easy. Even though I know it's wrong." Callum said to the copy. "But is it really so wrong?" The copy asked Callum. "Yes." Callum said to the copy. "Is it, though?" The copy asked Callum, holding The Cube up to Callum. "Yes." Callum said to the copy. "Is it?" The copy asked Callum, moving The Cube away from Callum. "Yes!" Callum said to the copy, with the yes echoing.

"Callum, look at me. You're looking at yourself. You need to accept your destiny." The copy said to Callum. "I can't do that." Callum said to the copy. "You're a human. You weren't born with an Arcanum to do primal magic, but you were born to do magic. The kind of magic humans can do. You can have unlimited power. And you can choose what to do with that power! You can make a real difference in the world. All you need to do now is accept it. Your destiny is already written." The copy said to Callum, showing off The Cube, as all its sides turned into the red glowing dark magic symbol.

A Forest Area Of Katolis

In reality, Claudia walked to the bed Soren was laying on, all banded up, with Soren looking out the window. "Hey, Sor-Sor." Claudia said to Soren, getting his attention and taking a set, next to the bed. "All the people in town are talking about you. About how you faced the dragon and saved the town. Everyone's calling you a hero." Claudia said to Soren, placing a hand on Soren.

"Saved them from a problem I caused, maybe. Is that what heroes do?" Soren asked Claudia, making Claudia turn away from him, with a sad look on her face. "So I… I talked to the doctor. And I guess they did some tests-" Claudia said to Soren, but Soren interrupted her. "I already know." Soren said to Claudia. "What?" Claudia asked Soren.

"I can't move. I can't walk. And It's not going to get better." Soren said to Claudia, as children ran past the window, with a Buneary and Bunnelby hopping behind them, all of them having a good time. This made Soren smile. "You know what? It's for the best. I'm glad I can't move." Soren said to Claudia. "What are you talking about? Soren, why would you say that?" Claudia asked Soren.

"Before we left, Dad gave me a secret mission." Soren said to Claudia. "He did?" Claudia asked Soren. "I was confused, and I didn't want to do it, but… I do want Dad to love me and be proud of me." Soren said to Claudia, as he cried a little. But Claudia whipped the tear off Soren's face, for him. "He is proud of you, no matter what." Claudia said to Soren.

"Dad is so smart, so I figured there must be a good reason." Soren said to Claudia. "Soren, what did Dad ask you to do?" Claudia asked Soren. "Kill the princes and blame it on the twins." Soren said to Claudia, completely shocking Claudia. "Kill them? No. No. No, that can't be right. You must have misunderstood." Claudia said to Soren. "Now I can't do anything terrible, because… now I can't do anything." Soren said to Claudia.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, Callum was looking at The Cube in the copy's hands. "Accept your destiny." the copy said to Callum. Callum reached out his hand, but stopped when he heard Harrow. "Callum." Harrow said, making Callum and the copy turn to see Harrow chained up to the throne. "You are free. You are free from both the past and the future. Nothing is written in stone. Fate is a lie. You are free!" Harrow said to Callum.

"Look inside yourself, Callum. This is your destiny. You can't deny it." The copy said to Callum. "Yanma." Another voice said. That's when everyone noticed Yanma flying in. Yanma then used Silver Wind, and fired a burst of wind at the copy with sparkles in it. The Silver Wind made the copy flinch and transformed. The copy now had a silky purple skin, pitch black eyes, and patches of white hair on his head.

"No! I get to choose who I want to be. And Yanma showed me what you truly are." Callum said to the copy, as Yanma landed on his shoulder. "Your destiny is already written!" the copy said, with a creepy voice. "No! Destiny is a book you write yourself!" Callum said to the copy. This made the copy drop The Cube in a red vortex, and break apart into rubble, then dust. All this made Callum exhale heavily. "That was horrifying." Callum said, before looking at Harrow. "It's your dream, kid." Harrow said to Callum. "Yanma." Yanma said, before he and Harrow left Callum.

A Forest Area Of Katolis

In reality, everyone was waiting in the cave, well everyone but Corvus, he was frantically walking around. "This king is missing." Corvus said to everyone. "He's not missing. He just went for a walk." Rayla said to Corvus. "And he hasn't returned, and we don't know where he is." Corvus said to Rayla. "Right." Rayla said to Corvus. "That is the definition of missing!" Corvus said to Rayla.

"Yeah. Yeah, you're right. He's missing." Rayla said to Corvus. "You shouldn't have let him go. We need to find him." Corvus said to Rayla. "Aren't you and Staraptor a tracker? Isn't this your whole job?" Rayla asked Corvus. "Yes. Me and Staraptor shall bring the king back safely. You have my word." Corvus said to Rayla. "Mind if I join the search missions. Just in case we run into Claudia or Soren while we're out there?" Drake asked Corvus. "Very well, let's be off." Corvus said to everyone. "Accelgor you're with us." Drake said to Accelgor. "Accelgor." Accelgor said, as he and Drake, Corvus, and Staraptor left.

"Ooh, I have his word." Rayla said to everyone, not interested. "Well, since you have his word. You can stay here with Callum. I'm going to look around to see if I can find anything in the forest to help Callum." Kali said to Rayla. "I'll go with her. Allen said to Rayla, as he, Kali, Lurantis, and Leavanny left, leaving Rayla, with Callum, Bait, Zym, Yanma, Rockruff, and Gligar.

Back in town, Claudia was patching at the end of Soren's bed. "It's okay, Clauds. I'm relieved, actually. I'm… I'm free to do what I want, with no expectations from Dad or… or anyone." Soren said to Claudia. "So, what are you gonna do with this newfound… freedom?" Claudia asked Soren. "I've been thinking about that for the last ten minutes, And I've decided I'm going to reinvent myself. I'm going to be a poet, Claudia." Soren said to Claudia, making Claudia laugh very loudly.

But then Claudia realized he wasn't joking. "You're not joking?" Claudia said to Soren. "Okay if you don't like that idea. What about this? Drake and Allen told us about the people that were strong trainers and were a challenge for other people and Pokemon to overcome. So I'll be a Gym Leader. I'm thinking I'll be a fire, no rock, no a fighting gym leader." Soren said to Claudia.

"Oh… I can't leave you like this. There has to be something." Claudia said to Soren, before frantically looking around the doctor's supplies. But all she did was break everything, as she found it useless. She trashed a lot of the supplies, before the doctor and a large man came from behind the curtains.

"You need to calm down." The doctor said to Claudia. "No, I don't. You need to… calm up! You need to help him!" Claudia said to the doctor. "This is a hospital. Miss, we're going to have to assist you out of here." The doctor said to Claudia. "He can't be like this. Pokemon do like him that much. And he doesn't understand strategy." Claudia said to the doctor, before the doctor and the man threw her out of the hospital, letterly. Claudia was sent flying into the street.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, Callum was walking around, as the sound of the wind blowing and the sound of running water echoed throughout his mind. Then Captain Villads appeared. "Ahoy, Callum! I hear ya be needing a boat." Captain Villads said to Callum. "Am I be needing a boat?" Callum asked Captain Villads. "You am! For yer voyage! Into your own heart and mind." Captain Villads said to Callum, before Callum noticed they were on a ship.

"Let's hope the weather be nice there." Callum said to Captain Villads, acting like Captain Villads. But the weather wasn't nice, and Callum was holding onto the ship for dear life, while Captain Villads was laughing maniacally. "Hoist the mainsail!" Captain Villads said to Callum. "What? I don't know how to hoist any sails." Callum said to Captain Villads.

"It's yer journey. You be the sail, and I'll hoist ye!" Captain Villads said to Callum, before trying ropes to Callum's wrist and pulling him up into the sky. "Find the wind, boy! Be like a wing!" Captain Villads said to Callum, as Callum became a sail. Callum then noticed Bertro and Masquerain flying above him. "I have questions." Bertro asked Callum.

A Forest Area Of Katolis

In reality, Corvus and Staraptor were tracking Ezran, with Drake and Accelgor following them. "You're making this easy for me, young King!" Corvus said, as he reached a bush that he thought Ezran was hiding in. but as he walked to the bush, he noticed the tracks turned from human to a large beast. "Oh, no. This can't be happening." Corvus said, before frantically running, following the tracks, with Staraptor following him, leaving Drake and Accelgor behind.

"How much do you want to bet Ezran asked the beast that made these tracks for a ride?" Drake asked Accelgor. "Accelgor." Accelgor said to Drake, with a probable tune in his voice. Drake then got his staff ready to fly and Accelgor hopped onto Drake's back. Soon the two of them were in the sky looking for Ezran.

Meanwhile, Kali, Allen, Lurantis, and Leavanny were looking through the forest for anything that could help Callum. "Come on, there has to be something around here?" Kali asked, frantically looking around. "Kali, I don't know you, what do you expect to find out here?" Allen asked Kali.

"Anything that can help Callum. If I was faster, or had a better grip on my Sunforge Blade, Callum wouldn't have needed to use dark magic to help us." Kali said to Allen, not looking at him. This made Allen sighed and made Kali look at him. "Look, I don't like Callum doing dark magic either. But it's not your fault. He made his choice." Allen said to Kali. "But if I was better. Then Callum wouldn't be in such terrible shape." Kali said to Allen.

"Maybe, maybe not. But questioning yourself with "what if" isn't going to help either of you." Allen said to Kali. Kali said nothing. "Kali, you're a beautifly, and intelligent Sunfire Elf. One that I've learned cares about others and was working on being a healer before all this. I know you'll think of something to help Callum, cause I trust you." Allen said to Kali, making Kali blush and look away.

"Always saying the silliest things. But what do I expect from you? Even though I didn't like you much at the start. I have come to trust you and learn you're a good person too, and being a little handsome doesn't hurt." Kali said to Allen, making him blush and look away from Kali. "So… should we…?" Kali asked Allen. "Get back… to looking around… for something…?" Allen asked Kali. They both nodded yes, and got back to looking for anything that could help Callum.

Leavanny and Lurantis watched this, and slapped a hand into their face. They could tell that their partners like each other but neither of them want to admit it.

The Castle In Katolis

Back at the castle, Viren was walking to the room with the mirror in it, frustrated about what happened in the library. "What's going on?" Viren asked Aaravos, as he burst into the room, and slammed the door behind him. "Every time I found a mention of you in an ancient scroll or tome, the entire passage disappeared as soon as I looked! What game are you playing?" Viren asked Aaravos, as Aaravos was reading a book.

Aaravos put the book back, and gestured that Viren needed the caterpillar to talk to him. Viren annoyingly decided to put it back on. "Why should I trust you?" Viren asked Aarvaos. "You shouldn't… yet." Aaravos said to Vrien.

A Forest Area Of Katolis

Back in the forest, Corvus and Staraptor moved back to the cave, without Drake and Accelgor, not that Corvus noticed. He was worried how Rayla would react to the news. Once Corvus and Staraptor got close enough, Corvus cleared his throat, getting Rayla and the creatures' attention. Corvus then jested Rayla to come over to him. Rolling her eyes, Rayla moved to Corvus.

"What's wrong? What happened? Did you lose his trail?" Rayla asked Corvus. "No. It's worse than that." Corvus said to Rayla. "What do you mean?" Rayla asked Corvus. "King Ezran's trail ends very clearly, very badly. His footprints are replaced by banther tracks. The king's been eaten by a banther!" Corvus said to Rayla.

Rayla gasped, but then broke out laughing. "Great job. You've lost the King of Katolis." Rayla said to Corvus, enjoying this. "This isn't funny. Why are you laughing?" Corvus asked Rayla, getting her personal space. "You king happens to be a very special boy. He can talk to animals. So if there are banther tracks, it means Ezran caught a ride on a banther, not in the bather. I'm sure Drake already knows this, and that's why he left you." Rayla said to Corvus, before leaving and laughing at Corvus. But this made Corvus confused and looked at Staraptor.

Back in town, Claudia was walking down the streets trying to think of something. "Okay, Claudia, calm down. Everything's going to be okay. Just… say your calming mantra." Claduia said to herself before stopping. "There is no synonym for cinnamon. There is no synonym for cinnamon. There is no synonym for cinnamon. There is no synonym for cinnamon. There is no-." Claudia said, as she started to walk again, but not feeling better, and stopped talking when she made it to an alleyway and a crate fell over, surprising her.

Cursious, Claudia went to investigate it. What she heard was a low growl. Then out of the shadows, a giant black cat creature walked out of the ally wave. This freaked Claudia out a little, but then she noticed Ezran on the back of the cat creature. "Hi, Claudia." Ezran said to Claudia.

But what neither of them knew was that Drake and Accelgor were hiding on the roofs above them, watching them. Drake wanted to go down there and take Ezran away from Claudia, but he decided to see what Ezran was thinking, and stayed away. But he was close enough to do something in case Claudia tried something.

Back with Callum, he was tossing and turning, and having a hard time breathing. All the while Rayla watched. "You messed with something you shouldn't have messed with, and now you're paying the price." Rayla said to Callum. "Help! help." Callum said.

This made Rayla feel something for Callum, and made her move to Callum's side. "You'll get through this." Rayla said to Callum, whipping the towel on his head. "You big dumb human." Rayla said to Callum with a gentle tone.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, Callum was trying his best to stay on the ship, as the wave tossed and turned it. Callum grabbed the helm, and tried to get the ship under control. The next thing Callum knew, he was on dry land, with the Sky Primal Stone in his hands. Callum then threw it at the ground and broke it again. But after it smashed, the Sky Primal Stone repaired itself and moved back into Callum's hands.

Callum looked at the stone, and doing that made him appear in the water again, this time with the ship destroyed, and him on a barrel. Callum then noticed Captain Villads nearby. "Your conscience is a messy place, boyo!" Captain Villads said to Callum before a large Bertro and Masquerain came flying in to rescue Captain Villads. "Villads out!" Captain Villads said before he grabbed Bertro and Masquerain, and they all flew away. "We're huge." Berto said to everyone. Callum then lost the barrel he was on and started to sink into the dark water.

A Forest Area Of Katolis

In reality, Callum was loudly gasping for air, scaring Rayla. "Callum? Are you okay? Callum!" Rayla said, shaking Callum.

Callum's Mind

In Callum's mind, as Calum sank into the darkness, he could hear Rayla's voice. "Callum!" Rayla's voice said to Callum.
