Kumiko stood in Uraharas kitchen, cooking up the ginger pork and rice she had promised him weeks ago. Uraharas snore carried through the house, making her laugh. Thoughts shifted to Shunsui as she Cooked , wondering what he had decided to do with his evening.

She felt silly, missing him. They saw each other this morning, and she will see him tomorrow. So why was her body aching to be with him? To touch him. Have him touch her. She was surprised with how quickly she fell for him, how hard.

Living together was only supposed to be temporary. Until kage had been captured and it was safe for her to be alone. While Kumiko did miss her house, she wasn't in a rush to get back. Living with shunsui, she couldn't imagine going back to living alone. Couldn't imagine not going to bed every night next to him, waking up with him in the morning. That wasn't her home, he was.

Rice cooker next to her alerted Kumiko it was ready. Quickly plating up the food, she made her way back into Kisukes room, calling his name softly as she went

"Kiskue. Dinners done" she told him, rolling her eyes lovingly at the loud snore he gave her. He was not an easy man to wake. Laying the food down, Kumiko walked over to him laying in bed. Gently pushing his hair from his face, Kumiko poked his cheek. "Come on sleepyhead. Dinners done," she raised her voice, laughing as Uraharas sleepy hand came up to slap at her hand, missing as she pulled it away and slapping his own face, waking him up

"huh?" He mumbled at the rude awakening he gave himself. Opening his eyes to see Kumiko smiling down at him

"dinner done. You need to eat so you can take more medicine" she told him, watching as he pushed himself up in bed

"I think Unohana gave me the wrong pills" he said around a yawn, rubbing at his tired eyes "I shouldn't be this tired. Thank you" he added at the plate Kumiko placed in his lap

walking around the side of the bed, Kumiko climbed in with him to eat her own meal

"you've just done a lot today " she told him patiently "it's the most you've moved in over a week."

"maybe" he said. Quickly shovelling some of the pork into his mouth, Kisukes Eyes widened at the taste "this is delicious " he mumbled around a mouthful

"thank you." She grinned at him, ignoring the bad manors "you need to get some more things for your kitchen, there's hardly anything in there"

"I don't cook" he chuckled "why would I get more things to not use?"

"for when I come over and cook for you?" Kumiko teased "we need to find you a girlfriend, one who can cook"

Urahara laughed "don't you start playing matchmaker" he shook his head at the possibilities she would come up with "im happy single "

"or do you just like sleeping around?" She nudged him playfully "Whore"

urahara laughed loudly, shaking his head at her "im not a whore. I just don't have time to date. "

"there's always time to date" she told him, smiling at his laugh "we could double date"

"are you pestering ukitake also? He's single too" he asked her, throwing his friend under the proverbial bus

"I hadn't thought of that" she stopped eating to think . "We've never spoken about relationships or romance. I wouldn't know where to start"

"how about you just let us fend for ourselves " he grinned at her "we are quite capable "

"the last woman you brought home you couldn't remember her name" Kumiko reminded him plainly,

"don't remind me" he told her, wincing at the memory "I'm dreading running into her again"

"maybe she doesn't remember your name either?" Kumiko tried helpfully, raising her eyebrows at his loud laugh "what?"

"she definitely knows my name" he told her, smirk on his face

"what makes you so sure?" She asked him teasingly

"she was shouting it all night" the smug grin didn't leave his face at the deadpan look she gave him, before a mischievous smile broke out

"I was kind of hoping she was calling you Sue"

"I never should have told you that story"

Kumiko laid next to Urahara, eyes adjusting to the dark room. Snoring loudly, Urahara rolled over, wrapping an arm around her tightly. Kumiko smiled gently, resting her hand on the arm draped across her

after they had dinner, they had sat up talking. A few hours had passed before he began yawning. Kumiko helped herself to a shower, and once she had returned he was fast asleep in bed. She had bearly settled in before Urahara instinctively drew closer to her body heat

Closing her eyes, waiting for sleep to take her, Kumiko thought about Shunsui. Wondering what he was doing. She has silently hoped he had gone out with Jushiro, he had spent so much time looking after her, he deserved some fun

Kumiko slipped into sleep dreaming of the man with a small smile on her face

"I definitely would have remembered you" Shunsui drunkenly teased a young shinigami attempting to flirt with him at the bar. She had dark brown hair, pulled up in a pony tail. Lips painted red. Not exactly his type, but Shunsui wasn't one for turning down an opportunity to tease a young lady

"I stayed at the back" she smiled at the handsome man, currently explaining how he had Taught a lesson she had attended when she was at the academy. A light blush was on her face as she shyly looked up at him through her lashes

"that'll be why then. I never forget a pretty face" he told her with a big grin, enjoying the way she got flustered at his words

"are you behaving shunsui?" Yoruichi asked him not to kindly. reappearing next to him and sending him a knowing look

"aren't I always?" He smiled at his friend cheekily before grabbing their drinks " it was nice meeting you" he said to the young woman, giving her a wink.

Yoruichi rolled her eyes at her friend, grabbing his arm and dragging him back to the table "you shouldn't be flirting with other woman Kyoraku " she told him plainly as they sat down

"I wasn't flirting" he told her, a little concerned that was how it came across "I was being friendly, teasing at most"

"would Kumiko see it as being friendly?" She said bringing him back down to reality "your flirty ways are going to get you into trouble one of these days"

"I wasn't trying to flirt." He said honestly, pouring them both another drink "im happy with Kumiko. I was just being nice."

"you are completely clueless " she laughed at him, accepting the drink "would you find it 'friendly' if some guy was talking to Kumiko the way you just were then? Exactly" she confirmed at the way his face fell, a clearly unhappy look at the notion

"alright. I'll work on being less friendly". He granted. Taking the shot Yoruichi handed him and throwing it back. He really hadn't ment to give off the wrong impression. He was completely in love with Kumiko, wanted no one but her. He hadn't even looked at another woman since he saw her for the first time in that captains meeting

feeling a little guilty, he changed the subject "who do you think ukitake was talking about earlier? Who he has in mind for his lieutenant?"

"I haven't a clue. He's not mentioned anyone. Nor have I heard any whispers of him approaching someone. Guess we will just have to wait and see"

Kumiko woke the next morning, Uraharas snores close to her ear. Taking a minute to remember where she was, and why it wasn't Shunsuis snores waking her up. Smiling at recalling last night, Kumiko opened her eyes, gently pulled his arm off her stomach to slip out of bed

stretching out her back, Kumiko made her way into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for them. Deciding on omelettes, she got to work.

Finishing up, Kumiko fished out the tablets urahara needed before juggling them all to the table. Kumiko walked back into the bedroom, calling her friends name

"Kisuke, wake up" she called him as she approached. Seeing he hadn't stirred from where she left him, Kumiko shook his side gently "come on lazy, get up"

"5 more minutes " he mumbled, hugging his pillow tightly

"in 5 minutes your breakfast will be cold" she told him, pulling the blanket from his body "get up . We can eat at the table "

"ok. I'm up" he said around a big yawn, scratching his head. He sat up in bed throwing his legs over the side.

"do you need help?" She asked him, checking the bandages around his chest hadn't come loose in his sleep. Easy to reach as he refused a top last night

"no I'm fine. I feel good ". He said standing up, pleased he didn't feel dizzy. Kumiko led him to the table, pulling out his chair before going to grab them some drinks

"do you want tea?" She called to him as she poured them an orange juice

"nah juice Is fine " he called back around a mouth full of food, having immediately dig in "thanks". He added as she placed it down, pushing his pills nearer to him. Rolling his eyes urahara put them into his mouth and swallowed them down with his drink. Opening his mouth showing they were gone in a childish protest

Kumiko laughed as she sat down "ass"

"thanks for breakfast Kumiko, I really do appreciate your help" he told her honestly, hating the fact he needed help but pleased he had such a good friend who would drop everything to help him

"don't be daft. I would be mad if you had asked anyone else" she teased him, eating her own meal "there's left over pork and rice in the fridge for your dinner tonight. And I'll make you lunch before I leave with jushiro later"

"you don't need to go to the trouble. I'm sure I'll find something". He said around another bite of egg

". I'm not sure how my day will go tomorrow. But I'll find time to come check on you, at the very least I'll bring you dinner. " she continued as though he didn't Interrupt

"honestly, I've survived for years on my own. I can just grab something from the fridge" he persisted

"stop being an ass and accept my help" she smiled at him, pushing her meal away, too full to finish

urahara grabbed her plate, putting it on his own empty one and began to finish her meal "you what me to make you another one?" She smiled at him amused, the man sure could put away food

urahara flicked his eyes to her's, before looking to the kitchen and back again. He did want another one, but didn't want to ask

"I'll make you another one" she laughed getting up

"I love you" he teased her retreating form

"you better" she pointed at him threateningly before starting another omelette

"you ready to see Hitsugaya today?" He called into the kitchen

"yeah. I don't really know what to expect, I've not spoken to him. Matsumoto will be there too, so it won't be all bad" she replied, tidying up as the egg cooked

"Ukitake will look after you. Hitsugaya ain't bad, a bit serious. " he rambled, distracted with eating

Kumiko returned to the table with the pan, dumping the egg on his plate before returning to the sink to clean up

"he was worried about taking me to see komamura" she told him, smiling at how sweet ukitake is

"it was strange not being there" urahara admitted "I want to take you to see the last captain though. Feels right that we started this together, we should end it together "

"I agree" Kumiko said washing up "there's no rush though is there? Wait until your back to full health "

"I feel loads better today" he said behind her, dropping his empty plate into the sink, grabbing a towel

"what you doing? "

"I'll dry and put them away, you're not my maid miko. I can help" he insisted, starting to dry the pan, ignoring the look she gave him

"you should take it easy. Unohana is coming today. You don't want her to see you passed out from exhaustion ". She warned him, drying her hands on the towel he held before walking around to put away the dishes he had dried

"I'm not even tired" he told her, fighting the urge to roll his eyes "can we sit at the table and play cards for a bit?"

"yeah, but we're playing go fish." Kumiko grinned at him "I know I can beat you at that. I'll go get dressed quick. You'll be alright here?"

"I'm fine miko. Stop worrying" he couldn't fight the urge that time and rolled his eyes at her

"You're cheating"

urahara laughed loudly at the accusation "you can't just say I'm cheating every time I'm winning " he told her with a smile, hiding the fact he had, indeed been cheating. He could see her card's reflection in the kettle behind her. And was throughly enjoying asking for every one of the cards she held

"you're picking all my cards!" She told him exasperated

"I'm just lucky" he smiled at her, eyes darting to the kettle "you have any 5?" He asked innocently, smiling as she grumbled and threw it at him

a knock on the door Interrupted their game. Kumiko lay her cards down flat, pointing a finger at him as she stood "don't you look at them" she warned

"wouldn't dream of it" he laughed, already knowing her hand

"captain Unohana, please come in" he heard kumikos voice at the door. Sitting up straighter in his chair, Urahara looked towards the hall, as both woman walked in

"good morning Urahara san. You're looking well" the captain greeted him

"morning. Yeah I feel good ". He smiled politely at her

"how is your pain management?" She asked him walking forward to look at his head

"fine. I've been taking two pills every four hours. I haven't needed the other one" he told her as he hands held his face gently, moving him around

"that's wonderful news. May I check the wounds on your chest?" She said releasing his head, happy with what she saw

Urahara nodded, standing up and lifting his arms up to the side slightly. Unohana made quick work of the bandages. Crouching down to look at his chest, fingers gently touching them as her hand emitted a warm orange glow

"it's looking good" she confirmed standing straight and re wrapping him "keep these on until tomorrow. Then I want you to use this cream twice a day, for five days" she added pulling a tube from her pocket "it'll help with any itching and will help them to fade"

"yeah, no problem," he said taking it from her offered hand "when can I go back to work?"

Unohana laughed gently "if everything continues to go well, you can return Monday, but nothing strenuous" she added looking to Kumiko "paperwork and observation only" Kumiko nodded at the captains instructions, sending a stern look to Urahara. She wouldn't take any of his persuading

"can I go to the festival this weekend?" He added hopefully

captain Unohana gave him a patient look. She had not encountered a captain who liked to push his luck quite like urahara

"if you take it easy, and you feel up to it" she told him "no drinking though" she added sternly

"I can manage that" he told her with a wide smile, pleased to have gotten his way "thank you for coming "

"my pleasure. I'll return in a day or two. " she warned taking her leave "goodbye Urahara san, Kumiko san"

"bye captain Unohana" Kumiko said softly, taking her place back at the table opposite urahara. Picking up her cards, her eyes looked over them before looking back up to her friend

"do you have any kings?" He asked trying not to laugh

"how are you cheating?!" She shouted exasperated
