"sing benihime"

Amagai heard behind him, a crimson energy blast quickly following, cutting though a hollow approaching from his left. His own Glowing hot zanpakuto, easily slicing through the hollow in front of him, the hollows final scream fading away

"nice of you to join us Urahara!" Amagai told him happily as he joined him in running further into the field to meet their next opponent

"are they the hidoi?" Urahara questioned him, nodding to a large black figure currently battling Kira,

"raise your head, wabisuke" they heard coming from across the field, Kira rushing to the beast

"it is, I've commanded the lieutenants to deal with them . Leave the hollows to the lower seats" ". He told him, wild flames shooting out the back of his zanpakuto "they do seem much more blood thirsty "

"they know to stab them in the hearts?" Urahara confirmed, eyes grazing over the battles happening across the field

"they were informed. Some of the 4th should be on their way to assist" he added, getting urahara up to speed

"I'll split off to the left, don't get yourself killed amagai" urahara told him, splitting off to meet a hidoi making its way to an already fighting renji

"My my, aren't you an ugly thing" urahara said softly looking at the hidoi he had interrupted. The hidoi looked at him, through its black mask, growling. Eyes glowing a crimson red, fixed on Urahara. Long front limbs turning into a deadly spike at the ends slashed out quickly. Urahara jumped out the way just in time, not expecting the speed

"quick too" he muttered, pulling his up zanpakuto to cross his chest "hado32 : oukasen!"

Yellow energy cracking along his zanpakuto released suddenly. Powerful blast hitting the hidoi in the chest. Force of the blast pushed the beast backwards, feet digging into the grass, leaving two muddy trails from where it was

"still standing after that?" Urahara muttered. Jumping up high to avoid renji, who had been thrown suddenly by his own hidoi, tumbling across the grass where Urahara was previously stood.

Renji, completely fine, jumped up and ran back toward his enemy, raising his zanpakuto "Roar, zabimaru!"

the scientist in urahara couldn't help but study the creature lunging at him. Easily evading it's blows, Uraharas eyes scanned the creatures form, the way it moved, how fast it striked. He knew from Kumiko that stabbing it in the heart would destroy it. But could anything else?

Thoughts interrupted by a deadly howl, the creature ran at Kiske; sharp arms swinging wildly at him. Urahara easily ran backwards, ducking left and right to avoid the blows. Reminding him very much of how he and Kumiko train. Small smile playing on his lips at the memory.

This seemed to anger the hidoi, growling loudly and lunging toward the man. Kiskes zanpakuto came up to connect with the blow aiming for his head. Impressed by the force behind it

Flash stepping a small distance away, Uraharas left arm shot up, palm flat facing his foe. Right arm quickly coming up to grasp his bicep

"hado number 88, hiryu gekizoku shinten raiho" a Brilliant blue and silver energy blast formed in a ball at his open palm. Swirling around, the silver cracking like lightening in the glow of the blue, humming with strength. Shooting out suddenly, growing exponentially in size, it threw up the ground beneath it, before hitting its intended target.

the powerful blast could be seen from the other end of the field. Strong waves of strength echoing across the field. Stopping a few in their tracks, marvelling at the power coming from the captain.

urahara saw the black figure in the centre of the blast, scream before slowly fading away, defeated. It's crimson eyes filled with hatred the last thing to go

"phew" Kiske said lowering his arms, happy to have discovered another way to defeat them. Even if only a hand full of shinigami could preform hado in the 80's.

Quickly he hurried to find his next target, eyes landing on a young shinigami seeming to struggle against the two hollows targeting her. Quickly he flash stepped to lend a hand

"I think that's all of them" amagai said walking up to urahara, who had just stabbed the final hidoi in the heart. Shaking his benihime firmly to clear most of the blood, he put it back in its sheath , still tied to his waist

"so it appears". He said turning to face him "what's the damage? Is anyone hurt?"

"Hisagi has a nasty cut on his arm, six others have more serious wounds, they're being treated on site before they can be moved to the 4th" amagai told him, serious look on his otherwise joyful face. "The rest have just a few scrapes and bruises, all in all we've come out ok"

Urahara sighed at the news "if you're ok to oversee it amagai. I would like to take some readings " he asked him, getting a small black devise from his pocket and tapping at the screen "see if I can't find anything while it's still fresh"

"of course. Keep you're eyes peeled for any we missed ". Amagai told him, before going to assist the healers and organise the troops ready to leave

Urahara walked around the field, attention firmly on his screen, seeing the little spikes in the reading. A particularly large spike stopped him in his paces. Tapping quickly on the screen trying to identify it. Looking similar to the one his division had previously captured, the one he was still unable to identify

Sudden movement from the tree line next to him caught his attention, head snapping up to scan the area. Putting the devise into his pocket, Kiske pulled benihime from his waist, stance changing defensively.

Reaching his spiritual pressure out to the trees, not feeling anything out of the ordinary, he slowly started walking into the Forrest, eyes scanning the shadows.

Eyes adjusting to the dimmer light in the Forrest, canopy of leaves blocking out the suns illuminating glow. Urahara stopped at the sound of rustling leaves.

A shadow to his left slowly changed shape, moving silently, hidden from his eyes. Darting out suddenly, Urahara groaned at the sudden pain down his chest, blood wetting his clothes. Sparing a glance down, three jagged slashes opened up his chest, from shoulder to ribs. spinning quickly to where the attack come from, Urahara couldn't see who it came from. Raising his hand quickly

"hado 54 ,haien!" he shouted, red blast shooting from his hand and exploded between the trees. Stillness all around him, Urahara stumbled forward before catching his footing, the wound on his chest loosing a lot of blood.

Quickly scanning the area, Uraharas eyes looked wildly searching for what had attacked him, raising his spiritual pressure, knowing the other shinigami would feel it and come to assist

an unexpected blow came from behind, hitting urahara in the head. A small crack was heard before he fell heavily to the ground unconscious, benihime falling from his loosened grasp.

A tall figure materialised from the shadows. Slowly walking towards the downed captain. The reflection from the steal in the man's hand caught the sun breaking through the trees, illuminating his steely face.

Twigs snapping under the strangers feet, as he came to stand above the prone figure on the floor, leaves wetting with blood under him. Bringing his zanpakuto to rest against the fallen captains neck, the figure sneered down at him

the sound of heavy footsteps running and calls of "captain Urahara!" Reaching his ears as he cut into the captains neck

Kumiko glanced at the clock again sighing. Long since she finished all the paperwork she could do. Kumiko had left to get both her and Urahara some sandwiches, figuring he would be hungry when he returned, only to come back to a still empty office.

Needing to keep herself busy, Kumiko began cleaning the office. After rearranging and tidying up, Kumiko found a bowl in the lab and filled it with hot soapy water. Grabbing a cloth she had returned to the main office and began wiping things down.

Kumiko glanced at the clock again, getting slightly annoyed it was taking too long, but not willing to leave an go home until she saw her friend.

Kumiko wet and wrung out the cloth, deciding to wipe down the dusty skirting boards running around the entire room. Crawling around on her hands and knees, scrubbing as she went.

He better keep this place clean after all this work she internally grumbled. Making her way behind the desk, Kumiko heard the office door open

huffing, she called out "what took you so long? I've had to resort to scrubbing your walls" before dropping the cloth and leaning up on her knees

"renji?" She asked confused, seeing the outline of him and not her hat wearing friend "sorry I thought you were Urahara" she smiled. Standing up to walk over to him

"Kumiko" he said softly, walking in and closing the door . Kumiko walking closer could see him more clearly, now that the sun behind him wasn't blinding her. His clothes were dirty and ripped. Mud was splattered on his face and neck, a small bandage wrapped around his hand

"you're hurt!" She told him, rushing forward to grab his hand to see "what happened? Did you go out with the rest to deal with the hollows?"

"Kumiko" he said again softly, not being able to look her in the eye

"is everyone else back yet?" She asked, peeking under the bandage, happy it didn't seem bad. Looking up to meet his eyes, kumikos stomach dropped. He looked devastated, eyes stuck looking at the floor between them "renji? What's wrong?"

Bringing his eyes up to meet hers finally, Kumiko gasped at the sad look in his eyes. Grabbing hold of his arm she shook him gently

"renji. What happened ?" She asked worried, his silence cutting through her like a knife "tell me"

"I'm so sorry miko." He said softly "it's urahara."

"what?" She whispered confused, cutting him off "where is he, what happened ?" she finished louder, almost shouting at him

"where the hell is he?!" She shouted finally, chest heaving with worry, shoving him in the chest to get him speaking. needing renji to explain quicker

Renji pulled Kumiko close to him, wrapping his arms around her, "he's hurt miko" he said softly feeling her body sag in his grasp "it's bad. He's in the hospital "

kumikos knees went weak, threatening to buckle under her weight, renji supporting her next to his chest the only thing keeping her on her feet, as the world slipped out from under her.

Renji felt her tears start to fall, Landing on his chest "he's with Unohana now. She'll fix him up" he tried to sooth her.

Kumiko pulled away, wiping at her eyes. "I've got to see him" she said, trying to move past him

"you cant". He told her softly, hand coming out to stop her

"renji, move" she told him sternly. She needed to see urahara. The feeling of dread in her stomach making her feel sick. She had to see him

"they won't let you in yet" he tried again "not until he's stable "

stable the word hit her

anger was quickly replacing the worry she felt "let me go," she told him again, shoving him out the way "move"

"kumiko, you're shaking" he told her gently, knowing she wasn't really angry with him " why don't you sit down for a bit? I'll take you to him after"

"I can't!" She said, sob escaping her throat. "I can't renji, I've got to see him" she said pushing past him on shakey legs, running out the door

"Kumiko!" Renji called from behind her

"shit" he muttered before chasing after the emotional woman

Kumiko ran through the streets, tears blurring her vision. She could sense renji chasing after her, but she didn't care

fear, anger and guilt twisting in her stomach,

I should have been there she told herself I should have had his back like all the times he had been there for her

all she could think was to get to Urahara as soon as she could. Praying he would be okay. She couldn't loose him too
