(Big thanks to beninator5 for the inspiration and for allowing me to borrow Kim. I hope I can do this story justice)

As the rain falls in the woods, a brown skinned woman in a cloak runs as fast as she can before hiding behind a tree, and checking on her precious cargo. In her arms are twin girls no more than newborns, and as she gazes down at them she is crying and says. "No os preoccupeis mis preciosos angeles, mama os protegera." (Don't worry my precious angels, mama will protect you). The woman quickly covered her girls up again and took off running again, and behind her a glowing portal slammed shut before anyone else could go through.

Fourteen years later a pair of teen latina's were sitting in the back of their mothers car as she continued her tirade, clearly frustrated and concerned for her girls.

"I just don't understand mijas. I thought we were going to try and not have any more accidents like that," Camila Nocada continued.

Luz spoke up, "You don't understand mama, that teacher has it out for Kim. He was going to try to fail her book report again. I had to try and help."

Camila sighs, "I understand Luz, but real snakes. What made you think that would end well. Now those nasty morons have us over a barrel. If I don't send you two to the Summer camp they suggested, they intend to expel you both."

"Please mama don't send us there. We can do better. We can act 'normal'. I'm begging you, don't send us away," whimpered Kim.

"I'm sorry, me angeles. I have no choice. When we get home both of you are going to pack, and in the morning I'll walk you to the bus," sadly declared Camila.

Both girls shared a look and then just hung their heads.

That night the twins were laying in beds unable to sleep, desperately trying to find a way to get their sister out of the situation they found themselves in.

"Hey Kim? You still awake?" asked Luz.

"Yah Luz. I'm still awake. I'm guessing you can't sleep either," responded Kim.

"I just… it's not fair that you have to go to this camp too. You don't have anywhere near as hard a time hiding your weirdness as I do, and you're like super smart. In every other class you have straight A's. I don't understand why Mr. Hopkins hates us so much," Luz starts to tear up.

"I don't get it either, but he also works as the school counselor so for some reason no one wants to get in his way," said Kim frustrated. "And I'm not so great. I get nervous around new people and I'm not good with confrontation. I wish I was more like you Lu. You never seem scared, and if anyone has to go to that camp it should be me. It was my book report. You were just trying to help," Kim started to tear up too.

Luz looked over the side of the bunk beds at the sound and sprang down. In moments she had wrapped her arms around her twin and started comforting her, "No K. None of that now. We will get through this together, and don't worry so much. I'll always be there to help you. It's what older sisters are for."

Kim looked at Luz slightly annoyed, "You are older by one minute."

"Yup one minute or a hundred years, it doesn't matter. Older is older. I love you K. Without you I'd be completely alone," Luz smiled.

The two just stayed like that for a while, taking comfort from the others' presence. Until they felt a gust of wind from the window (they both could have sworn it was locked) brushed past them and they saw a tiny owl fly off with Kim's favorite hair tie and Luz's favorite Azura book that had been on the desk. Both girls shared a look and dashed after the little thief, and soon they reached the old cabin their mom had forbidden them from exploring when they had been younger. They had done it anyway, but their mom didn't need to know that. There was something off though. The door was glowing slightly and on the other side was an unfamiliar room. They stopped before going through. Kim looked unsure, but Luz held out her hand. Hand in hand they went into a new world unaware yet that they were going to a world where they would find dangers, secrets, answers, love, and a destiny so much grander than either of them could imagine.

Time for notes. Once again Thank you beninator5 for letting me play with your toys as it were. I decided it would be best if I put my own spin on Kim. Otherwise I would have been constantly worried about misrepresenting her and it would have tainted the quality going forward.

Also yes this is a very short chapter for me, but I'm trying something new with this story. No transcripts from the show, and no other training wheels here. Just pure unfiltered semi-original content. I have no idea how often this AU will be updated, but they will be posted hot and fresh as soon as they are done. In the future I do intend to return to my average 4-10k words a chapter (pray for me), but I wanted to post this as a way to test the waters for if people are interested and realistically getting this part out of the way is super important before truly diving into this magical world. I already have a ton of ideas for twists and turns, but for now, have a great day and I can't wait to show you what I have planned.
