They were bickering like children, even Itachi. Sasuke and Naruto were over, having decided to have lunch at the apartment. They brought sushis with them at least.

Anyway, they were bickering about where I should apply.

"Sakura-chan said she was rooting for the hospital because she saw how your seals were useful in Kiri," Naruto told me. "Sai voted for T&I, because of Hyouton."

"Well, he's got a point," I said. Naruto shook his head.

"I say Cryptology! You know Fuinjutsu nee-chan, you can break some dumb codes!" I did learn a thing or two after seeing old Sasuke's rinnegan in action.

"I say the Konoha Aviary." We all looked at Sasuke and he smirked mockingly at me. "Maybe being hit by birds will knock some sense into you." I blinked and slowly turned to Itachi.

"Do you really like having a sibling? I could arrange that for you if you don't." He shot an amused look at Sasuke.

"I don't know, I quite enjoy having him around to avoid our mother."

"And I'll make you pay for that one day nii-san," Sasuke replied with a glare. "More seriously, take jobs as a Seal Master, you're overthinking it." I looked at Itachi.

"You're still set on the Academy?"

"Yes. You've already taught there, it wouldn't be anything new." Sasuke scoffed and it made Itachi frown at him. "What?"

"Why would she spend her days babysitting brats?"

"She did it with you two."

"We weren't 'brats'!" Naruto denied. Well, they were a little…

And another childish bickering with Naruto yelling, Sasuke snapping too easily and Itachi annoyingly never raising his voice and sounding like a 'know-it-all'.

They were exhausting.

I finished my sushi and stood up.

"Well, thanks for your opinions guys."

"Going somewhere nee-chan?"

"Yeah, I'm gonna ask other people."

"When are you available for training nee-san?" Sasuke asked me. "I have a few things I'd like your thoughts on." I put on my shoes.

"This weekend should be okay, just tell me what time." I turned around, my hand on the doorknob. "Why don't you train together today? Itachi's seal should be entirely off in a few weeks, might as well get him back to thinking a lot during a fight." Itachi shot me a betrayed look.

The...wrong prescription had only done some minor damage. My seal apparently regulated the whole thing on its own with a little help from Tsunade-san.

"Great idea!" Naruto exclaimed, jumping on his feet. "Sasuke and I against you Itachi-nii!" I almost cackled evilly when Itachi mouthed a 'help me' to me. I mouthed back a 'no'.

"I like this plan," Sasuke agreed and Itachi pinched the bridge of his nose. "What, scared nii-san?"

"Of course not," he replied.

"Have fun!" I told them, leaving my place.

I went at Shisui's place. Well, his and his girlfriend really. I knocked on the door and hopefully, it was Shisui who opened the door. He grinned at me and let me in.

"What brings you here?"

"I need your opinion on something but..." I gestured at his appearance with my finger. "I can wait for you to put a shirt on." Not that what I was seeing was unpleasant. He laughed, running his hand in his curls.

"Sorry, I got back late last night, I just got up. You can sit." I nodded and sat down at his kitchen table. I looked around me.

It had changed since the last time I was there and not just at the door. It was clear that someone else was living here from...how organized the place now was.

"You could get yourself a glass of water you know," Shisui told me when he was back in the room.

"I don't want to overstep my boundaries."

"It never stopped you before."

"You were living alone before." He shook his head, going to his kitchen. He showed me two teas and I picked the black one.

"When I listen to you guys, you're making it sound as if I was doing everything she asks me to." I raised a brow, accepting the cup of tea he gave me. "I'm not that submissive, right?" I shrugged.

"How am I supposed to know?" I received a weak glare. "It's just that since you're in a serious relationship, the little free time you have is for her. I think Naruto has a hard time accepting that. We all do, none of us see a lot of you anymore." I blew on my cup. "But it was to be expected now you're a grown man." I looked up at him and bit the inside of my cheek. "Too much?" The distant look in his eyes disappeared and he smiled at me.

"No, I actually missed your bluntness." He sighed deeply. "It's just complicated to balance everything." I smiled at him.

"I know."

"Anyway, what did you want my opinion for?"

"Right. I saw Shikaku-san the other day. He said that before I went back to active duty, I needed to get a shinobi-related job to...make me trust my allies of the Leaf." He chuckled at my overly pretentious tone at the end of my sentence. "Anyway, he gave me a list of places I could work at and I'm gathering opinions around me."

"What did you get so far?"

"Naruto thinks I should go and break codes. Itachi thinks going back teaching kids would be the best. Sakura is rooting for the hospital, Sai thinks I should go in T&I. Sasuke told me I should just do Fuinjutsu. Mom...said I should work for Shikaku-san or join the Police Force." This got his attention.

"Police Force?" I nodded.

"When we were attacked by the Land of the Sky, I helped with a situation Fugaku-san was taking care of." He folded his arms, thoughtful.

"I agree with Akiko-san then." I blinked at him and he nodded. "Yeah, your skills would totally fit with the Police Force. Restrain people or being quick to react are basically two important part of your skill set with your seals and the Hiraishin."

"I didn't think of it that way, you're right..." And what better way to get involved than to deal with people's issues? "How is it now?" Shisui shrugged.

"I can't say for sure, I've always declined the propositions I received. It's no longer solely composed of Uchihas and now it's more balanced with several clans and what they bring to the Police Force, I'd say it's doing a better job and has a better reputation."

"Did they accept it easily? That other shinobi could join?"

"Well..." he started heavily. "For some, older ones it was a tough pill to swallow as the clan had taken care of it since the Second's time. It gave the clan a sense of superiority because it was one of the founding clans." I sensed Tobirama agreeing with Shisui's reasoning. "I remember my grandma telling me that the Second wasn't fond of the Uchihas but was willing to try for Konoha, and that was why he had my grandpa directly working in his squad during the First Shinobi War." I could feel Tobirama's curiosity.

"Grandpa?" He grinned at me.

"Uchiha Kagami!"

"I see the resemblance now. Kagami would be proud." I smiled inwardly.

"Back to what we were saying, the older generation didn't like it. The younger one though saw an opportunity to improve their work and the village, to have less weight on their shoulders. Trying to find someone? Get an Inuzuka, a Hyuuga or an Aburame. Arrest someone? Get a Nara and so forth. I know there are some talks about moving the Police Station outside of the Uchiha district. What you should worry about though is the test."

"Test?" He nodded.

"Only strong shinobi get in the Police Force, there is a written test and a fighting one. However..." I raised a brow. "If you helped Fugaku-sama already on a situation, then you probably had the two at once."

"Even the written one?" He nodded.

"It's basically about what you'd do in various situation. If he saw you during an intervention, then he most likely saw what he needed to make a judgment." I took a sip of my tea.

"The police then? It seems more interesting than the rest." He nodded. "Can I ask you something else?"

"Sure."

"What am I drinking?"

"Black tea."

"Flavor?" He started to grin evilly and I feared the worst. "Shisui, flavor!"

"Beet and cabbage." I put the cup down and ran to the sink, getting a glass of water under Shisui's gleeful laugh. "I can't believe you drank so much of it!"

"I hate you and your shitty taste in teas! Where did you even get that!?"

"On a mission, somewhere in the Land of River. They have weird shits." I spat the water in the sink. "Why didn't you say something earlier?"

"Believe it or not I was trying to be polite but you know what? Screw you!" He laughed even louder. "You got even worst with age."

"Are you sure you're the one who should be mentioning 'age'?" I gave him the finger. "Ah, I'm wounded! My heart can't take it!"

"Beware of the heart attack." I kicked the leg of his chair when I walked past it. "Thanks for the talk, no thanks for the tea." He muffled his laugh in a cough. "I'm off, see you later."

"Bye Akane." I returned his smile and left his place.

Now to find Kakashi...I checked his place, he wasn't there. I went to the memorial stone. Obviously, he was there.

"Kakashi!" He looked at me. "Police Force for me, what do you think?"

"I wouldn't want to be the culprit." I rolled my eyes. "Is it about the job I heard about?"

"Yeah. I just talked with Shisui and he said it could be good." He pondered over it for a few seconds and he nodded.

"I agree. Let's go get an application."

"Awww, you wanna hold my hand so I don't get lost?"

"I'll give money to a stranger if it means they're taking you with them." I hugged his arm as we left.

"I'm so flattered!"

"It's acting like that that makes people think we're dating," he sighed, looking at his arm.

"Should I care?"

Of course I released him before entering the Uchiha district. We walked to the reception desk, where an Uchiha officer looked at us warily.

"Hello, can we get an application please?" Kakashi asked him with an eye smile.

"For…?"

"Me, for me." He stood up immediately.

"Of course Akane-sama." I blinked at his retreating back as he went to get an application.

"...what the? They never treated me that respectfully as Seal Master."

"You're engaged to Sasuke now." I puffed my cheeks and thanked him as the officer came back. He gave me the form.

"Please fill this and we'll contact you for your tests." I nodded and did, giving him the form back. "Thank you." He looked at the form with pursed lips and suddenly raised dubious eyes at me. "If I may, why do you want to join?" I blinked.

"I mean...you guys are important to maintain order within the village so that regular shinobi can focus on missions outside of it, right?" He nodded. "I'm curious about how the village truly is now, and working here would be a great way to help and to learn more about the village."

"Oh." I furrowed my brows and exchanged a look with Kakashi.

"Did...I say something wrong?" He shook his head.

"No, of course not. Your interest in the Police Force and Konoha well-being is appreciated Akane-sama." I nodded.

"Goodbye then." I left with Kakashi.

Once out of the district, I sighed.

"I don't like having '-sama' attached to my name."

"Get used to it." I halfheartedly glared at him.

"Did you find his reaction weird too?" His eye turned more serious.

"It was strange to say the least." Could it be the gap Shikaku-san mentioned? "Wouldn't it be weird if you worked for your future father-in-law?" I made a face.

"Just...don't mention that." He chuckled. "Yeah sure, laugh all you want."

I went home in the late afternoon. The guys were there, but exhausted.

"I've applied," I announced. Naruto raised his head.

"Where?"

"Konoha Police Force."

"What!?" The Uchiha siblings asked in sync, raising their heads to me at the same time.

"That was a little bit scary," I told them, my brows raised.

"They're so much in sync sometimes it's weird," Naruto mumbled to himself.

"Why would you join the police?" I shrugged at Sasuke's question.

"It seems the most efficient way to get to know Konoha as it is now?" I looked between him and his brother. "Is there something wrong with the police?"

"It's a sexist environment," Itachi explained calmly. "It was hard for the clan to accept other shinobi, now you're a woman as well. You won't be treated well."

"That's it?" He nodded. "You're making it sound as if the shinobi system wasn't sexist Itachi. A kunoichi is more likely to be sent on a seducation mission than a shinobi and it's a fact, they're more likely to have to sleep with a target too, so don't use the sexist card for that." He stared back at me blankly and I shook my head. "I don't know what's going on with your clan, but try to come up with better excuses."

Naruto was shifting uncomfortably on his chair.

"I never said the shinobi system wasn't sexist," Itachi clarified after a long silence. "Just be prepared to have a lot of remarks." He stood up and walked past me. He left without another word.

"I feel like I've just seen my parents get into a fight," Naruto whispered and Sasuke nodded.

I got in. Two days later I was summoned by Fugaku-san, who told me that after talking about it with the officers I worked with, I had the skills to be a part of the Konoha Police Force. He gave me a uniform and my schedule. I went home with it and tried it once in my room. It was the basic Konoha jounin uniform, but on each sleeve, in the middle of the arm, was a lighter blue star with the Konoha symbol in it. The Uchiha symbol was still on the Police Station building though. It...the future Police Force was similar.

I looked at myself with the green flak jacket and turned around.

It felt...weird.

"It doesn't fit," Hashirama said in my mind. "I have to say I appreciate your regular kunoichi clothes more Akane! The Kiri shinobi attire is better on you as well than Konoha's."

"When you know her fighting skills, a green jacket used to hide in the woods is weird," Tobirama agreed.

"Fugaku as your father-in-law..." Oji-chan was obsessed with that. My engagement now official wasn't easy for him to digest.

"It is a wise political move. A hypocritical one for sure, but a wise one. Even if we forget Akane uses the Hiraishin, she is an Uzumaki and the ties between Uzushio and Konoha were strong. To know Kiri has one, and one of her level as well, is a bitter pill to swallow for the older generation." Tobirama was right.

"It doesn't mean I have to like it," Itachi said coldly in the living-room. I was thinking the same, but I was sure we weren't thinking about the same thing.

"No shit, I noticed nii-san," Sasuke replied sarcastically, the front door shutting. "But you can't deny based on her skill set, the Police Force is a good choice, and Father accepted her after her help during Konoha's attack." Itachi scoffed.

"If he had only accepted for her skills I wouldn't be this upset," Itachi said dryly. "She's already been used by the Elders and the village, now Father does it too. It's..." He didn't finish his sentence.

"I know, I don't like it either but what do you want to do about it? You can't just accuse people out of nowhere."

"Accuse people of what?" I asked them coldly, joining them. They turned toward me in the blink of an eye. I leaned against the wall, my arms crossed. "Could it be because of the 'gap' there is currently in your clan? People are...are using me to make it smaller?" They exchanged a knowing look. "Hey, I heard everything so you better explain everything to me guys! And don't try to bullshit me either! If I'm being used then I'd like to know what for!"

"There are internal issues in the clan and we think there might be a growing group of people after our father's life to overthrow him and then try to do that coup that was avoided nine years ago," Sasuke blurted out. Itachi rolled his eyes and turned around to lean on the table. Sasuke took a deep breath. "Nii-san didn't want to tell you because you have been too involved in our issues already."

"I can't deny that," I mumbled. "So you wanted to tell me?"

"Yeah, you would have known at some point, so be angry at Itachi not me."

"That's it Sasuke, go home," Itachi ordered him coldly. The tone didn't leave anything for discussion and Sasuke left promptly.

I sighed at Itachi's back.

"I know you're trying to protect me Itachi, and I appreciate it but with how things are going I'll end up being 'Uchiha Akane' soon, it's..." He turned around with a conflicted and remorseful look on his face. "Itachi..."

"It's so...frustrating..." he finally said and I walked closer to him. "They have no idea what they avoided and their greed and arrogance keep driving them over the edge..."

"So what? Are you going to let them?"

"Of course not, it's still my clan," he replied hastily. "I'm tired that a part of the clan sees everyone like a threat to their 'grandeur'. No one ever stayed at the top with such an attitude." He raised almost shameful eyes to me and I smiled faintly. "And you've done enough for us. You have a lot to deal with already and I didn't want you to think what you did years ago was all for nothing."

"I know it wasn't for nothing." His eyes were curious. "I mean...I honestly thought that Danzou out of the picture and the engagement would be enough and I didn't look more into it. It's...obvious it wouldn't that easy, ultimately the issue is deeper but...I've also seen how many Uchihas are outside of their compound and actively a part of the village like anyone else." I moved to be right in front of him.

I was looking up at him. He was looking down at me with interest in what I was saying.

"I'm not going to get myself involved if you don't want me to. It doesn't mean I can't hear a thing or two at the police station though." The corner of his lips rose. "But don't keep that much to yourself. We weren't there for a long time but we're here now."

"I told Sasuke," he whispered quietly.

"And that's awesome that you don't see him as a little kid anymore. But...but tell me these kind of things if you can, especially if they try to get to you through your medicine."

"I owe Dai a lot for that one," he admitted with a chuckle. I shook my head.

"You do Uchiha, you do." I stepped back. "You're not alone Itachi, and I'm your roommate so don't lie to me."

"Not saying something is not technically lying." I rolled my eyes and went to my room. "It's true."

"I'm not listening to your logic right now."

I fell forward, the Claw disappearing. Sasuke rushed to my side, making sure I wouldn't fall.

"Well." I was panting yet raised my head.

Meditating with the Claw was as scary as ever, but I managed to grab Minato's soul. As he had the other half of Kurama sealed inside of him, there was a link with the outside world and it made him easier to reach and pull out of the seal.

"Is that really..." Sasuke trailed off, looking at what used to be a Shadow Clone in awe. I smiled tiredly.

"I believe it is, no matter how hard it is to believe." I sat on my bottom, leaning back on my hands. "The problem is the exhaustion. It's only one out of four and I'll need to summon the four of them at some point."

"You need practice," Minato said casually, clenching his fingers. He…

Once his soul transferred in my Shadow Clone, it automatically physically turned to him. Not only that, but the chakra signature was no longer mine.

My godfather was...right in front of me. Unlike with Edo Tensei zombies, his eyes were not black and his body wasn't...cracked. While the Edo Tensei brought back souls from the other side, they were not as strong as when they were alive. Their bodies would recompose themselves eternally though, and they had unlimited chakra.

The Claw was different. It sent the souls trapped in the Shinigami to a medium and sealed them off with seals. As long as the Yurei was standing they would be as well.

Literally. A seal was locking their soul in their medium, if I didn't manually call them back or pass out or die, they would remain with the living.

They were as strong as when they were living, basically the medium turned into their body with all their proprieties. Their chakra reserves were not unlimited though, and the medium kept its basic characteristics. For instance, oji-chan's medium was a Shadow Clone. It was him, yet still a Shadow Clone so one hit and it would vanish.

Ice Clones would be useful. Hashirama tried, tried, to explain to me how his Wood Clones worked and how I could potentially do it with my Ice Release as well, but it was impossible to understand him. Tobirama even reminded him he sucked at explaining, so he tried as well but it was way too...theoretical.

Oji-chan just told me Itachi should be able to help and explain in a way I would understand.

He jumped up and down and tried to make a Rasengan. It worked perfectly well.

"Apart from the fact I'm in one of your clone...it's like I'm alive."

"But you don't bleed and your heart's not beating."

"And that too, of course Sasuke-kun." He smiled at the Uchiha and inched closer to us. "It is nice to finally meet you by the way. You are a talented young shinobi, you will only get stronger. It will only make my son grow stronger too." Sasuke nodded but I almost saw his chest puffing smugly. "Akane, how do you feel?"

"Tired but...now you're out, I don't feel like my chakra is feeding you." He nodded.

"What matters is the seal on your stomach. You'll need a lot of practice if you are to call us four one day." I nodded, swallowing with difficulty. I grabbed Sasuke's shoulder a little harshly.

"We're going to spend sooooo much time together. You'll be in charge of taking me home and making up excuses for your brother if I pass out." He sighed.

"I'm tired of you two." I elbowed him in the ribs.

"Train with oji-chan to see how well he can fight."

"Against the Yondaime." He looked up at the blond man with the sheepish smile. "Of course I'm going to spare with the Yondaime who died sixteen years ago." They started to trade blows, oji-chan not being very fast.

He was probably testing the waters first.

"Where is your team by the way?"

"Mission." I nodded.

"Oji-chan, thinking about it, maybe you could...I don't know, train Naruto with a henge of me?"

"Wh..." Sasuke punched him and I shuddered when I felt his soul crawling back inside my arm. "I don't think it's a good idea."

"Ah, really?" I replied out loud. Sasuke raised a brow and showed me the palm of his glove.

He almost had the storage formula down.

"Yes, really. It wouldn't be wise for me to walk around as if I was...you know, alive."

"Guess you're right."

"You're lucky I know you're not talking to yourself," Sasuke commented and I stuck my tongue at him.

"Come on, show me how far you are with the seal."
