Chapter 01 The contract
Quanktumspirit: "This is going to be a prequel to my first Zootopian story: Two Nicks One Wilde. In it, I will explain as much as I can; as to how no one knew of Larry's existence. Just going to warn you all, this will be set a bit in an AU, from the other Zootopia movie."
It was a dark evening, exactly 57 days have gone by since Mr Augustinus Wilde had mated with his ex-wife, Mrs Rilla Wilde. His wife was sitting in labour in their home as the fox was looking through the post that morning.
"AUGUSTINUS GET YOUR ASS IN HERE AND HELP ME WITH THE BIRTH!" Mrs Rilla Wild was screaming.
She has been in labour for the past sixteen hours and Augustinus was getting fed up with this pregnancy fiasco already. He sighs and walks back to the birthing room, resuming his position next to his mate, he handed her his paw which Rilla grabbed and screamed once more.
Before long the first cub was born, Augustinus let her go and freed the baby from the cord and the birthing sack, before freeing the airwaves. The tiny cub was a male baby and screaming his head off.
Another someone was also screaming, which was his mate, bringing a second baby into the world. Augustinus could just finish wrapping the first cub up and eating the umbilical cord before he had to focus on the second cub coming into the world. After the second cub was there, freed the airwaves and cleaned up Augustinus also wrapped this one up and handed both cubs up to his mate.
Rilla panted as she ate her birthing sacks and cleaned the bed up too. She looked at her mate with an annoyed look, taking her children into her arms.
"We have two sons, my dear. Identical twins," Augustinus explained, smiling at her.
Rilla smiled a bit, but then as her babies were being stilled she noticed Augustinus was reading a letter.
"Augustinus, what's that?" She asked pointing at the letter.
Augustinus read further and finished it, he sighs and looks at his mate with a heartbreaking view.
"I'll tell you once you can stand up. I have to think some things threw." Augustinus sighed.
Rilla nodded her head and lay back in her bed, rocking her twin babies a bit as she was feeding them.
Augustinus left the bedroom and left Rilla in taking care of his children.
Augustinus sat in his office, he turned his laptop on and came face to face with a young Arctic fox, his best friend since childhood; Little Loco.
"Hello Augustinus, great to see you again. I have some good news for you." Little Loco said.
Augustinus smiled, "I've just read the letter, Little Loco. I've been accepted in your detective Agency in Savage City, right?"
The Arctic fox smiled and nodded his head, "You sure have. Can you come right now?"
But the newly made father of twins sighed, "I don't know. At first, as I applied for the position, I had nothing holding me back... but my mate, Rilla has gotten pregnant last winter and we have twin sons now."
"Oh..." Little Loco said surprised, clapping, "Um... congratulations on becoming a father. But the agency needs your answer within the next 48 hours Augustinus. Or the position could go to someone else. And we will need you on a case as soon as possible."
"Give me the 48 hours Little Loco, I'll have my answer by then." Augustinus sighed, rubbing his head.
Little Loco nodded.
Both the arctic fox and red fox stopped the video chat and Augustinus left his office. He headed to the living room, where Rilla was nursing her freshly born baby boy twins.
Augustinus sits on the couch and watches his mate, Rilla was still feeding the cubs as she looked up. Carefully she pressed her children closer to her chest to cover her half nudity up from her own husband.
Augustinus didn't mind and just looked down, giving his mate a bit of privacy. He would have welcomed the silence, but Rilla spoke up looking quite angry.
"I have heard your conversation with Mr Little Loco. He said you've gained a well-paying job as a police detective?" Rilla asked, glaring at him.
Augustinus nodded his head, "Yes, I applied for it before I met you, and it seems they want me on a case now."
But Rilla was still glaring. As her two sons were full, she left the living room and put them into one crib, making sure her two sons were hugging each other and sniffing one another.
"We have two cubs now Augustinus. Your loyalty and obligation should be with me and your two sons." Rilla pointed out, turning around and looking at her husband.
Augustinus nodded his head again, "I know. But I spent two years in a military training camp, half a year with a police force to gain this detective chance. And now that I have it I want to complete it. But we will have to move house to Savage City so I can start on my job there. The drive from Savage City to the Forest district will take nine hours. That is too much for one person to cope with on top of all the detective work too."
Rilla grabbed her two sons and held them close, she stood by the door and tapped her foot angry.
"We will not be moving house now. Nick and Larry are too fragile to move and I'm tired after their birth. You are to stay here if I have to staple gun your pelt to the floor." Rilla growled at her mate.
"And I won't abandon such a huge chance to make something better of myself after such a long time, Rilla!" Augustinus screamed back at her, "You know there are no job opportunities here. I'm too overqualified and get restless behind a boring desk. I want to take this chance, no buts. We all can move together and still be a family, please."
"NO!" Rilla bellowed back, "And that's final."
Augustinus looked at his mate hurt, he bowed his head down to her and pretended to surrender, but his mind was already planning on leaving her.
After both foxes had a dinner, consistent out of chicken and fish pies. Augustinus tucked his two sons into bed before heading for the couch. Rilla was lying in their marital bed and sleeping, she was tired after such a long birth and arguments with her mate, Augustinus couldn't blame her.
He sighed and read and re-read the letter again and again. He has worked his mind and heart out to gain this position for years... he can't give up now.
He sighed before grabbing his phone, his mind was made up.
"Hello, Little Loco?... I read the letter and... I'm coming over. I will take the job... ok see you in Zootopia in a bit." Augustinus smiled.
He got off the phone, grabbed a duffle bag and stuffed it full of his clothes. As he packed his wedding photo to his 'mate' up, his eyes fell upon the crib.
In it, Nick and Larry, his twin sons, were hugging each other, quietly breathing and Larry was even biting Nick's shoulder a little bit.
It looked very cute, but Augustinus wanted the job and seeing as his mate had hurt him so much he was going to stab her back. Quietly he packed up half the baby's bedroom up that are meant for Larry, he walked up to the crib and carefully separated Larry from Nick.
The small cub woke up shocked, Augustinus held Larry in his arms as he rocked his son back and forth. Quickly grabbing a pacifier he shoved it into his son's mouth and he fell asleep again.
Augustinus shot one look round the room, making sure he left nothing of Larry's behind. Even quieter he carried first the baby and then his and the kids' stuff out of the den.
He lay his son in the grass in his carrycot. Augustinus packed everything in a carrier bag and slung it over his left shoulder, then he picked his son's cot up and dashed out of the Forest district.
He grabbed his phone and gave Little Loco the all-clear. A black car pulled up a short while later and Augustinus parked his son in the back and the suitcase into the boot. The red fox took a seat next to the driver, which just so happened to be an arctic fox.
Little Loco stared shocked as he looked into the back at the sleeping baby fox. So young and already separated from his family.
"Augustinus, you can't be serious." Little Loco hissed quietly. "There is no room for a baby on these dangerous missions, you know it."
"I won't leave my son with an unstable mother." Augustinus snapped, "She tried to force me in giving up my job, but I won't. And I want my son to follow in the same paw steps as his dad. So he can learn about it as soon as possible."
"That's sick Augustinus... but you are right." Little Loco sighed.
The trip from his ex-mates house to the agency took well over three hours. As they arrived, Augustinus picked his son Larry up and carried him over his arm, in his other arm was the documentation about his new job.
Little Loco walked with him first to a nursing station, which was a quiet room for newly made fathers or mothers in looking after the children whiles their parent was working in the office. Augustinus saw another female fox there, nursing one of her own children. She looked up and bowed her head to the other fox and Little Loco.
"Hi, welcome to the children's nursery, you must be our newest recruit, Augustinus Wilde. My name is Pellet, and I am the predator children's nursemaid until the cubs reach children's age. Who is your child and how old is it?" Pellet asked smiling at them.
Augustinus smiles, "This is Larry Dezi Wilde. He is about two hours old now and needs a nursemaid until he is ready for school."
Pellet smiles, "Oh, a divorce?"
Augustinus just nodded his head and handed his newly born son over. After giving his son one lick across the head Augustinus left the children's ward.
Mrs Pellet smiles, picking the baby cub up and smiled at the handsome blue eyes staring back at her. Little Larry was wriggling in her paws and started to cry as well. He was hungry.
"Well you will be a very handsome male fox, aren't you Larry." She smiles before beginning bottle-feeding the baby.
She had a lot of babies changing diapers, foods, clothes, toys, beds etc. All she had to do was look after the baby until the parent or parents returned. Seeing as Larry was brought in nude, she slipped the tiny fox baby into a small dark blue romper suit.
Then she sat back down and continued feeding the baby. Larry had quite the appetite, seeing as he had nothing to eat until this moment. Once he was full, Mrs Pellet patted on the tiny baby's back, Larry burbled and then snuggled up to her to fall asleep.
Mrs Pellet sighed, such a cute baby and already lost his mother, how sad. She carried Larry to a darker part of the nursery and lay him in one of the free cribs. The baby sleeps very peacefully and Mrs Pellet left to look after other children and babies being brought in.
Back with Augustinus.
The fox sat now with Little Loco in his new office, he has spent the last hour setting his new desk up and he was getting the first job file out for his new job.
"Augustinus, I still think you should stay here and look after your son." Little Loco begged.
He had just received word from the head boss of an urgent task; he and a partner had to take, for which Augustinus had volunteered.
"You've never been on any outside jobs before and have now a baby cub to look after."
Augustinus sighed and glared at Little Loco, "Little Loco, I have worked for years on end to get a very good degree, took my police course, first aid training, gun training and hand to hand combat. I will not back down when my job asks me to go out in the field. Larry will stay with the nursemaid until we return. And you are not allowed to take this job on your own, you need a partner or no pay. Got it?"
Little Loco bit his lip but nodded. Augustinus nodded, got changed and the two men left the agency on their mission. They got into a grey van and headed out into the city to look into their first-ever case.
Quanktumspirit: "Ok guys. Here is an explanation as to what went down before my tale: Two Nicks One Wilde came out. Comment, follow and favour please."
