After the duel against Akiza, Wenslow returned to the competitor's lounge.

Yusei walked down a hallway coming towards a intersection. Just before he passed the side corridor, Akiza stepped out from it, gripping her arm tightly. Their eyes met just like before, and Yusei gripped his own arm as his Mark of the Dragon reacted to Akiza's.
"Why do you hate these marks?" He asked her. She glared at him, and for a second it seemed she wouldn't answer.
"All this mark has brought me is pain." she said. "This wretched mark poisoned the world against me. Stay away from me, Yusei."
"Did you ever consider your Mark isn't meant to do that?" Wenslow suddenly asked.
He left the lounge to find out what Yusei was up too.
"This mark has never given me anything but suffering." Akiza retorted back.
"What's going on?" Lazar suddenly asked, walking up from behind Yusei and Wenslow. "Are we all getting along nicely?" He turned to Akiza." That was an impressive Duel, Miss Izinski. Before your next match, there are a few things Director Goodwin would like to speak to you about, in private."
"I'm sorry, Deputy, but Akiza must rest." Sayer said, walking from the opposite direction. Two men in black, orange and yellow robes walked up from behind him, flanking Akiza.
"Who the hell are you?" Lazar said bluntly.
"Don't act dumb." Sayer retorted. "My reputation precedes me, and since neither of us like surprises, let's not waste time pretending you haven't done your homework." Lazar gave a sinister chuckle. "Stay away from Akiza, she isn't interested in what that scum Goodwin has to say, clown." With that, he, Akiza and the two robed men walked off down the corridor. As he passed by, Wenslow glared at him.
"I don't trust that guy. Not one bit." He muttered.

Wenslow then went through his deck, preparing for the duel against Yusei.
"This isn't going to be a easy duel." Yusei was a tough opponent. He knew this as he saw Yusei duel plenty of times in the past.

"I tried to bring the girl Akiza to you." Lazar informed Goodwin. "But that imbecile Sayer and his Arcadia goons stopped me from doing so. They could be a problem later on."
"Those deluded fools are no problem, Lazar." Goodwin replied. "They have little influence over the population of the city, and their chosen representative is a despised criminal."

"It's time for the final!" The MC announced. "The winner of this duel gets the right to face Jack Atlas. For our first finalist, we have Wenslow!"
"Challenging him is Satellite's Shooting Star, Yusei Fudo!"
Yusei rose into position opposite Wenslow.

"Go, Yusei!" Leo shouted.
"This'll be exciting!" Yanagi cried.

"Every card has led us to this moment!" The MC yelled. "The final round of the Fortune Cup will now begin!"
"Duel!" Wenslow and Yusei shouted, activating their Duel Disks and drawing their opening hands.

"I'll start this duel!" He drew his sixth card. "With a face down monster." The monster he set was Exploder Dragon.
"I draw!" Yusei called. "I activate Reincarnation of Hope, which lets me discard two cards from my hand and in my second Standby Phase after this turn; I can add a monster card from my Deck to my hand!" He discarded Speed Warrior and Quillbolt Hedgehog.
"Now I summon Junk Synchron!" The short, orange-armored Warrior appeared from a blue portal (ATK: 1300). "I use his effect to bring back Speed Warrior, and Special Summon Quillbolt Hedgehog with its effect!" Speed Warrior (DEF: 400) and Quillbolt Hedgehog (ATK: 800) appeared before him. "And now I'm Tuning Junk Synchron to Quillbolt Hedgehog and Speed Warrior in order to Synchro Summon...!"
Junk Synchron pulled his ripcord and soared into the air, splitting into three glowing rings that descended and encircled Yusei's other monsters, reducing them to four glowing stars. The stars collided and exploded with golden light...
"Clustering forces will create a bright freedom. Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Strike now, Lightning Warrior!"
With a crash of thunder, Lightning Warrior descended to land before Yusei (ATK: 2400).
"Now, Lightning Warrior, attack his face-down monster with Lightning Punisher!" Lightning Warrior charged, delivering a lightning-charged punch.
"You just made a big mistake Yusei." His monster shattered in an explosion. Then suddenly Lightning Warrior shattered in a explosion as well.

"Why was Yusei's monster destroyed?" Luna asked.

"The monster I set was Exploder Dragon. When destroyed by battle it takes your monster with it." Wenslow explained.
"I'll end my turn with a face-down card." The Star of Satellite finished. The reversed card appeared.

"Draw." Wenslow said. "Say hello to Mirage Dragon." (ATK: 1600) "Now attack him directly!"
I activate Defense Draw, reducing the damage to zero and letting me draw one card!" Yusei called, but his trap didn't flip up.
"What?" Yusei exclaimed in shock.
"Did you really expect it to be that easy old friend. Whenever Mirage Dragon attacks during the Battle Phase, trap cards cannot be activated."

Yusei gritted his teeth.

"Yusei's being overpowered." Tanner said.
"If he doesn't do something, he'll lose the duel." Leo responded in a panic.

"You aren't the only one who wants to make Jack pay for what he did. I do as well." Wenslow told Yusei. "I end my turn with a face down."
A reverse card appeared behind him.
In the stands...
"Yusei just needs to keep his cool and he'll win." Rose said.
"The problem is he's staring down one of the most powerful monsters in the game." Sara said.

"Back to me and I summon Shield Wing in defense mode." (ATK: 0) "Then I end with a face down as well."
"Draw." Wenslow drew a card. "I summon Spear Dragon in attack mode." (ATK: 1900)
"Attack Shield Wing!" He ordered. Spear Dragon impaled Shield Wing with it's nose.
(Yusei: 1400LP)

"How did Yusei take damage? His monster was in defense mode?" Luna asked Tanner.
"It's Spear Dragon's effect. Whenever it attacks a defense position monster, piercing damage is inflicted." Tanner explained.

"He's not going to last much longer." Sara told her sister.
"Don't be so sure." Rose replied.

"It's my move." Yusei drew. "I summon Quillbolt Hedgehog in attack mode." (ATK: 800)
'I'll still take damage no matter what position I summon my monster in.' He thought.
"Then I set a card face down and end my turn." A reverse card appeared. "It's your move."
"So be it." Wenslow drew a card. "I'll place one card face down."
A reverse card appeared on his side of the field.
"Mirage Dragon attack Quillbolt Hedgehog." Quillbolt Hedgehog cried out as Mirage Dragon bit down on it.
"Spear Dragon, attack Yusei directly." He dropped to one knee after Spear Dragon impaled him.
(Yusei: 500LP)
"That will end my turn." Wenslow announced to his friend.
Yusei silently drew a card from his deck, hoping to figure out his options to get out of this situation.
'The card I drew is Speed Warrior, but even that won't be enough since it's effect only increases it's attack to 1800.' Yusei thought. 'And Spear Dragon's effect will inflicting piercing damage if I summon it in defense mode ending the duel.'
Wenslow noticed him hesitate.

In the tower, Jack looked down and saw Yusei wasn't moving.
'Thinking about your next move, huh?' He thought.
Back down on the field...
"Very well." Yusei made a decision. "I'll summon Speed Warrior in attack mode." (ATK: 900)
"Attack Mirage Dragon with Sonic Edge." Speed Warrior raced forward and kicked Mirage Dragon, shattering it.
(Wenslow: 3800LP)
The aura around Speed Warrior then faded.
"That will end my turn." Yusei told his opponent.
"In that case." Wenslow drew, then looked at Yusei's field. 'Knowing Yusei, his face down is Scrap-Iron Scarecrow. That's something I need to deal with.'
He then looked at the card he was holding and smiled. "Sorry Yusei, but I'm about to end this."

Rose and Sara observed the smile appear.
"He must have drawn a good card." Sara told her sister.
"What exactly though?" Rose asked out loud.
The twins would soon get a answer.
"The card I drew is Stamping Destruction. As it's name implies, I can destroy a spell or trap card and then you take 500 points of damage. Which considering you only have 400 life points that will cost you the duel."
Yusei's face down, which was revealed to be Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, was destroyed. Stamping Destruction's second effect then kicked in, causing Yusei to scream in pain.
Wenslow 3800LP/Yusei 0LP
"It's over!" The MC shouted. "Wenslow will move onto the finals to face Jack Atlas!"

"No way. Yusei lost." Leo was shocked that Yusei had been defeated.
"I'm not surprised." Tanner said. "It looked like Wenslow was in control of the entire duel based on the moves he made."
Wenslow walked off the duel field. Since the finals consisted of a Turbo Duel, he needed to get his Duel Runner.
