Chapter 14: First Day of School
The next morning in early September of 1899 the Heavenly Family is seated around the breakfast table as Albert says, "Children a new school year is starting today and your mother and I thinks it's great for you both to have the opportunity for schooling."
Sylvia also says, "Your Aunt Laura is the school teacher."
Their grandfather, Hector Webb agrees, "Yes some schooling would be good."
Matthew says, "Ma, Pa, we would like to go to school and have the opportunity to make more friends with the children of the Town of Walnut Grove but we still would like to help protect the frontier."
Olivia agrees with her brother and asks, "Ma, Pa if we go to school can we still help you with protecting the frontier?"
Albert answers, "Of course sweetheart you both can still help us protect the frontier. You can go out with us on the weekends and also while in school you both can keep an eye on things in Town."
The Heavenly children Matthew and Olivia are both excited as they are finishing up their breakfast and they start to get ready for their first day of school.
Meanwhile in the pits of Hell the Devil himself is coming up with a new plan to get to the Heavenly Children. The Devil calls for two of His youngest Devil Angels who are just children themselves and the Devil says to them, "Bob and Sarah you were the most wicked of youngsters on Earth before you died and come down here and I made you vampires. I have a job for you. I want you both to go up to Earth but this time you will be the sweetest kids in Walnut Grove."
Both Bob and Sarah asks, 'Whaaat? Master... Be sweet kids?"
"Yes!" The Devil answers, "But only to fool the Heavenly Children."
Sarah and Bob both have a devilish grin and laugh and says, "Oh, we see!"
The Devil continues, "I see the Heavenly Children are starting school. This is early September. I want you both to go up go to school as well be the sweetest children you can be till the end of October which is my Holiday, Halloween."
"Yes, Master!'' Both Devil Children says and than asks, "But Master what about our vampire fangs? Won't they notice them?"
"NO! Children," The Devil laughs wickedly, "Your fangs will be hidden! Halloween night you will bite those so called Heavenly children and once you do they will be obliterated and be in my hands."
The Devil calls for Hartwig and tells him, "You are also going up with these children to be their dad but you will have a disguise so that the Heavenly Family does not recognize you. Hartwig you will also be a sweet loving dad to these children."
Hartwig asks, "Master, Sarah and Bob go after the Heavenly Children, Matthew and Olivia how do you want me too go after Albert and Sylvia?"
The Devil answers, "We are not going after them this time."
Hartwig asks with confusion in his voice, "Master? Not go after the Heavenly Couple?"
"NO!'' The Devil answers, "You see Hartwig my strategy this time is to get the Heavenly Children down here first and later the parents. Once Matthew and Olivia are here their parents will think they need to be also."
Hartwig answers with a devilish grin and an evil laugh, "Oh yes, Master I see your point."
Hartwig you better not disappoint me this time as you have in the past in getting this family obliterated! My Holiday, Halloween is coming and I want that family down here in my hands forever!" The Devil shouts pointing his fiery finger at Hartwig.
"I will not disappoint," Hartwig replies.
Sarah and Bob also replies, "Master, neither will we disappoint you."
The Devil than says as He waves His devilish wand over Hartwig, "And now for your identity Hartwig. So the Heavenly family will not recognize you. You will be known as Mr. Lee Alright and instead of having blonde hair you will have brown and instead of blue eyes you will have green and your face will also have different features," Within seconds Hartwig's appearance is changed.
After the Devil changed Hartwig's appearance He turns to Bob and Sarah saying, The Heavenly family doesn't know you so we won't need to change your appearance accept for them not being able to see your vampire fangs. Both Matthew and Olivia the Heavenly children are 11 years old. Bob Alright you will be 11 years old and Sarah Alright you will be 10 years old to be around the same age as your victims.''
Hartwig now known as Lee Alright and his now children Bob and Sarah Alright are ready to go up to Earth as the Devil has an evil laugh, "Now go my evil children and get those so called Heavenly children."
A few seconds later right outside the city limits of Walnut Grove where the people of Walnut Grove don't notice there was a small ball of fire and smoke coming out of the ground and the 'Hellish Family'/The Alright family appeared. Lee Alright says to his children with a evil laugh, "Bob, Sarah time to start our mission for our Master the Devil. Remember children you are to be the sweetest kids in school.
The 'Devil Children' also with a evil laugh answers, "Yes!"
Lee Alright than sees a abandoned wagon with a horse and says, "Children good for us we could use a wagon with a horse if we going to be a 'decent' family in Walnut Grove! Don't now where the wagon came from but it's ours now!"
The Alright family gets the wagon and horse and head into the Town of Walnut Grove and as they approach the sign that reads, ''Walnut Grove'' and they ride past the Oleson's Mercantile and than up to the school building. Laura Ingalls Wilder the school teacher is just ringing the school bell and all the children are entering the school building. Matthew and Olivia (the Heavenly children) sees the Alright family (the Hellish family) pulling up to the school and both Matthew and Olivia welcome them and noticing they were new to Town says, "You are new to our Town. Your first day of school?"
Sarah and Bob both answers in unison, "Yes."
Olivia says, "My brother and I have lived here for about 2 years but It is also our first day of school also."
Matthew than says, "We can go in together if you wish."
Both Bob and Sarah in a shy manner says, "Ok thank you."
Matthew says to the 2 new kids, "You don't need to be shy. You will make friends fast."
Lee Alright says to Matthew and Olivia, "Thank you for your help."
Matthew and Olivia say, "Your welcome sir."
Mr. Alright says to his children with a little wink in his eye that only Bob and Sarah notices, "You children have a good first day of school. I'm going to go over there to the BlackSmith shop hopefully I can find a job there. See you after school."
"Ok Pa," Bob and Sarah says.
Bob, Sarah, Matthew and Olivia walk into the school together. Inside Laura Wilder has just finished taking role and says to Matthew and Olivia, "You are late but it's ok seeing it's your first day at school."
Matthew and Olivia both say, "Sorry we are late. We have 2 more new students that we were talking to outside."
Mrs. Ingalls says, "Oh... sorry I don't notice them at first. Children what are your names?"
Bob Alright says, "I'm Bob Alright and my sister Sarah."
Mrs. Wilder puts their names in the role book and than says, Bob and Sarah you two can sit up front together. Matthew and Olivia you both can sit up front as well across from Bob and Sarah."
All 4 children answers, "Yes ma'am," and than they take their seats.
Meanwhile over at the BlackSmith shop Lee Alright is speaking to John Carter. Mr. Alright says, "Hi, I am Mr. Alright and I'm new in Town and was hoping for a job here. I have experience in the Blacksmith field."
John Carter replies, "Welcome to Walnut Grove, I'm John Carter. You say you have experience in the Blacksmith field? I could use some help. You can start now if you want."
"Yes, thank you," Mr. Alright says, "I can start now."
Mr. Alright and Mr. Carter gets straight to work.
At lunch and recess all the school children eat there lunches Bob, Sarah, Matthew and Olivia all sit together under a tree eating their Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches an apple and a piece of apple pie. Matthew and Olivia asks their new friends about where they come from. Bob answers trying to think of good lie, "We used to live in Sleepyeye but we come upon hard times and our dad decided we needed a change from city life. He wanted more of Country living and fresh country air so we moved here."
Olivia than asks, "Do you mind if we ask where your mom is?"
Sarah Alright and her brother Bob look at each other and very convincingly begins to cry tears of sadness as Sarah says, "Our Ma passed away from a tragic wagon accident in Sleepyeye a year ago and that is when our hard times started. Our Pa not only wanted to get out of the City he wanted to move away to try to cope with losing his wife our precious Ma."
Both Matthew and Olivia try to comfort Bob and Sarah. Matthew gives Bob a hug and Olivia gives Sarah a hug.
Matthew says to Bob, "We are sorry to hear that but just remember that you can have the joy of knowing that you will see your Ma again someday in Heaven."
Olivia says to Sarah, "Yes, my brother is right you will see your Ma again in Heaven."
Bob and Sarah gives a nod of understanding of what the Heavenly children are saying even though they don't like to talk about Heaven because that is their Master's (The Devil's) most hated place.
Bob and Sarah than wipe their tears of so called sadness away as Matthew mentions, "Let's play ball with the rest of the children."
Bob and Sarah both agree to play ball and the remaining recess time Bob and Sarah make friends with the rest of the children. Being as sweet as they can like their Master (The Devil) had ordered them to do. The Heavenly Children and the rest of the children have no idea what Bob and Sarah are really up to.
After school Matthew and Olivia walk over to the BlackSmith shop with their new friends Bob and Sarah and when they arrive Lee Alright is just getting done with the days work and says to his two children, "Bob, Sarah, I'm just finishing up. How was your first day of school?''
''Fine Pa," Both Bob and Sarah says in unison.
"Pa," Sarah mentions, "We made lots of friends."
"That great!" Lee replies to his children."
"Yes Pa," Bob answers back, "And Matthew and Olivia. We believe will be our best friends."
Mr. Alright looks over to Matthew and Olivia and thanks them for being a friend to his children.
Matthew and Olivia both say, "Your welcome sir. You and your family are a added blessing to our community."
Bob,Sarah and their dad, Matthew and Olivia says their goodbyes as Matthew and Olivia says, "Have a good evening see you tomorrow in school."
Bob and Sarah also says, "Have a good evening see you tomorrow."
A few minutes later Lee Alright and his children ride off and the Devil children say to Hartwig, "That was so disgusting! Being nice to them."
Hartwig replies, "Yeah I know but we have to remember why we doing this. To get those Heavenly children obliterated forever!"
Both Bob and Sarah have a evil laugh, "Ha Ha! Yes, obliterated... Ha Ha!"
Meanwhile Matthew and Olivia have joined up and are flying home with their Ma and Pa, Albert and Sylvia. Albert asks, "Children how was your first day of school?"
Matthew answers, "Pa, It was great!"
Olivia than says, "Ma, Pa there are two new kids in town their names are Bob and Sarah Alright and their Pa Lee Alright."
Matthew adds, "It's sad through they lost their Ma to a tragic accident a year ago in SleepyEye."
Albert and Sylvia says, "We are sorry to hear that. We can try to comfort them!"
Matthew and Olivia both say, "Yes Ma, yes Pa. We believe we are going to be the best of friends."
"That sounds wonderful children," Both Albert and Sylvia says.
Will Bob, Sarah, Matthew and Olivia be the best of friends? Will Matthew and Olivia find out who Bob and Sarah really are?
