Yes I am working on my main fic - however Tears of the Kingdom is eating up more of my time than expected. Anyway, how did Bruno know Mirabel had wrecked his vision cave? Didn't need answering but I was a bit bored lol
The Beginning of an EndBruno woke from a horrible dream with a shudder. Could have sworn he heard another crack. For more than ten years Bruno spent a good part of his day patching the cracks that appeared in random places all around Casita. But it was getting harder to keep up them, and he was barely sleeping now as he tried to keep pace with them. His family was in mortal danger yet here he sat among the rats in the walls of Casita too tired to move. There was another crack and, on a whim, he made his way to his room and began the ridiculous ascent.
This was actually the back way in and a more direct route, but still far too many stairs. The only reason there were so many was because he'd asked Casita to make it as arduous as possible for anyone wanting a vision to come see him. But it had been an especially long night with the whole town roaming about for the better part of the evening. He really was tired, so he turned and stepped into an alcove you really wouldn't see if you didn't know it was there and sat on a chair he'd placed here years ago. Putting his feet on an outcrop he sighed, closed his eyes and took a break.
He woke as sand began to pour down on him. He heard a cry above him and waited, listening for whoever cried out. There was a flash of blue past the entrance that told him who it was. He poked his head out and watched Mirabel as she ran down the steps to the door.
Things seemed to be going downhill faster than expected after Antonio's Gift ceremony. Mirabel said it last night, the house was in danger and if she could see the cracks as well, his last prophecy was finally coming to fruition. This did not make him in any way happy. But which way would it go? Break or not breakā¦or both? Mirabel disappeared through the door and back into Casita, so Bruno pulled up his hood and continued his climb.
Reaching the top, he wondered how she'd gotten across when he spied the rope Mirabel must have used to swing across. He smiled, that was one determined sobrina. Turning toward his vision cave Bruno came to a halt. The ceiling had collapsed, but he knew the tablet was gone. He could no longer feel the pieces of it. He went in and looked up. He could see outside now and the sun was just dropping behind the mountains.
Hopefully, Mira would know to keep that to herself. But he knew it was the beginning of an end. Had he done enough? Bruno sighed and decided he would do a kitchen raid before his mother returned. Even without seeing it, he knew that the engagement dinner planned for tonight would be a hot mess.
