Allura looked down at her baby. Keith's mother had been revealed to be Galran, which meant that Keith himself was half-Galra. Therefore, her baby, her Pipsi was a quarter Galran. No matter how much she hated the Galra she couldn't bring herself to feel any resentment toward her daughter or her daughter's father.
"I don't know what to do with my growing feelings for Keith," Allura confided to the mice. "I'm afraid he'll reject me, but… oh… he's just so handsome. I keep getting these urges."
The mice squeaked.
"I can't assume that he likes me because he did not tell me to back off when I kissed him," Allura told the mice.
The mice squeaked informing the Princess that Keith had told Pipsi that she had her mommy's beautiful ears.
Allura blushed, "He said that?" The mice squeaked in confirmation. "Well, that does not mean anything," Allura said quietly, stroking Pipsi's cheek.
The communications beeped. "How are you, Princess?" Coran asked. "Are you almost at the Balmera? Are you alright? You look flushed."
"I'm fine. I'm scheduled to arrive in a few dobashes. I hope I'm able to find a crystal big enough for the Teludav."
"The Balmera welcomes your return, Princess Allura," Shay's grandmother said.
"Princess, did Hunk accompany you?" Shay asked.
"I'm sorry, Shay, but the others are on missions of their own," Allura replied apologetically.
"And who is this?" Shay asked cooing at the baby.
"That my dear friend is a long story," Allura replied.
"Keith, Hunk, are you there? Can you hear me?" Allura asked worriedly into the comms.
"What now?" Keith asked.
"You must return to the castle! I need you!" Allura exclaimed. Pipsi babbled seemingly in agreement. "You don't even understand what is going on," Allura chided her baby gently. Pipsi stuck her tongue out defiantly. "Oh my!" Allura cried.
"What?" Keith asked.
"Your baby has a purple tongue!" Allura answered.
"Our baby," Keith corrected. Allura felt her cheeks heat up.
"Wait how could you only just notice that YOUR baby has a purple tongue?" Hunk asked indignantly.
"I do not think Keith did either," Allura said defensively.
"Oh yes I did," Keith retorted, "I also noticed that she's starting to grab things."
"What?" Allura said in surprise and looked at her daughter, and sure enough, Pipsi had something. "What do you have?" Allura asked her daughter taking it away from Pipsi to whine.
"What did she have?" Keith asked worriedly.
"It is… um… a small rubber bone with bumps all over it and um… it is lavender. I have no clue what it is," Allura replied.
"That sounds like a dog toy," Hunk put in.
"Whose is it?" Allura asked.
"Da-da! Da-da!" Pipsi exclaimed happily.
Allura's eyes widened. "Keith, did you hear that?"
"Yeah, I heard it," Keith replied in disbelief, "We have one smart baby."
"Allura," Hunk ventured, "Shouldn't you, I don't know, contact the others?"
"Oh my, I should do that right away," Allura said but before she could redirect the comm Pipsi had a blowout. "Oh no, ewww!" Allura exclaimed, "Pipsi had a blowout!"
"Come on Hunk, faster," Keith urged for the tenth time.
"Sorry Keith, like I said before we can't go any faster," Hunk said. "If you're in such a hurry, why don't you just call the red lion to you?"
"Allura, have you heard from Coran?" Keith asked.
"Yes," Allura replied.
"So, we ready to pop through the wormhole and get back to Olkarion?" Lance asked.
"Yes, I've checked in with Coran and the teludav is nearly complete. Keith, thank you for getting the scaultrite. I mean… thank you both," Allura said correcting herself and blushing.
"Zarkon took the bait. He's got my location. Is everyone in position?" Shiro asked.
"Krolia is in position," Kolivan stated.
"Allura, can I talk to you for a tick?" Keith asked.
"Of course," Allura said following Keith into the hall.
Keith turned to face Allura, "Please be careful Princess," Keith said worriedly. "I don't want… I don't know what I would do if… something were to happen to you," he pleaded.
"Keith…" Allura began.
"I… I need you," Keith interrupted turning his head away as tears welled up in his eyes shaking them away.
Allura pulled him into a hug, "I'll be careful, I promise," she said placing her hand on his chest.
Allura turned to head back in, "And Keith?"
"Yeah?" Keith responded.
"I don't know what I would do If I lost you either," Allura said just before she slipped back into the room. Keith took a moment to calm his heart. Allura's touch had left his heart thumping loudly in his chest.
"The system is down. Uploading the virus now," Kolivan reported.
"Coran, is Allura okay?" Keith asked worriedly.
"She's weak, but yes, she's fine," Coran answered Keith's query.
"You take care of her and Pipsi. We've to go it from here," Shiro told Coran.
"We did it!" Pidge exclaimed, "I can't believe we did it!"
"See, I told you we could do it," Slav boasted.
"It's not over yet. Everyone, form Voltron!" Shiro commanded.
Keith ran into Black's cockpit panting. "Shiro!" "Shiro!" he called out, but his brother was gone. His brother/ father figure was nowhere In sight. Keith ran out of the Black Lion on the verge of tears. Shiro was gone, his brother, his Nii Chan was gone. The others who had been behind him followed him out. Black purred in Keith's head, "Don't worry little one, I'll bring him home." She seemed to say and flew out into the vastness of space.
