Chapter 5
Ever since Kagome found the unique P from whoever this hacker she and Inuyasha were able to track down, she couldn't stop thinking about it. She believed that it looked familiar to her in a way. Before leaving the school, Inuyasha decided to get the school system a security boost so that the hacker won't be able to get them again.
Otherwise, they had the day off and decided to go to Kagome's mom's house to spend the day with Moroha. "Mom. You home?" Kagome calls as she and Inuyasha enter the house taking off their shoes. As well as Inuyasha is without his disguise. "We're in here, Kagome." Kagome's mother Ai calls from upstairs. Kagome goes to where the one bedroom door is open and goes in. "Hey mom. How's…?" Kagome couldn't finish her sentence to see Moroha in her little bed with a cold washcloth on her forehead.
"Mama…" Moroha whispers weakly as she tries to open her eyes. "I'm right here, baby. Are you ok?" Kagome kneels down beside her daughter's side, taking her little girl's hand into her own. "I don't feel so good." Inuyasha comes up to the other side of the child's bed since it's in the middle of the room. "She's having a bad fever. Did you do anything the other day that would make you get this way?" He asks her gently. Moroha turns to see him.
"I was playing outside with Grammy and then all of a sudden, my tummy hurts, and then my head got hurt. The next thing I knew I was in here." Moroha was able to speak to them. "I think this is more than a bad tummy ache." Inuyasha said as he stealthily flexed his nose to detect the cause of the symptoms. "What is it?" Kagome asks him with worry. "It's her appendix." He said to her. Kagome realizes what he means by that. "Appendicitis. We have to take her to the hospital." Kagome spoke first and cradles Moroha into her arms. "Mom, we need to get Moroha to the hospital." Kagome said to her mother who came into the room. Ai nods without saying a word. Kagome puts Moroha into her seat in her car while Inuyasha gets into the driver side, "What are you doing?" Kagome asks him suspiciously.
"What does it look like, we're going to the hospital. Get in." Inuyasha said to him, even though he's freaking out, he has to remain calm. Kagome sighs and gets into the passenger side. Inuyasha doesn't waste a moment longer to get to the hospital. He pulls up to where the ambulances usually stop to drop off their crew as well as their patients. "I'll meet you inside." Inuyasha said as Kagome quickly gets Moroha out of her seat. Kagome nods and goes inside.
"Please help." Kagome cries out to any of the workers, the one nurse comes up to her. "What's the problem?" She asks gently. "My daughter might have appendicitis." Kagome answers quickly, see Moroha is trying to stay awake despite the pain. "Right this way." Another nurse brings in a wheelchair for the child. "Momma, where's Dad?" Moroha asks Kagome in silent murmur. "Don't worry, he's here." Inuyasha comes up to her from a different direction.
"We need to operate on your daughter immediately." A doctor comes to them. Kagome and Inuyasha know the rules of the place. "We'll let you know how it goes." He informs the parents. Kagome nods and goes to closest waiting room. Inuyasha's phone goes off in a vibration so it wouldn't bother the place. He sees that it's Sesshomaru. "I've gotta take this." He excuses himself and goes to another spot in the hospital. "Hello?" He answers the call.
"Inuyasha, why aren't you and Kagome at the school?" Sesshomaru asks his brother coldly.
"The school system got hacked. Kagome and I were the only ones there to help the crew. We were able to track the hacker. Kagome said that the hacker left a P. We offered to upgrade the security system so they wouldn't get hacked. Afterwards, the school dismissed us. We're at the hospital."
"The hospital? What happened?" Sesshomaru asks in his usual stoic manner.
"Moroha has appendicitis. We just arrived." Inuyasha answers him.
"That's unusual. Us demons don't get sick from natural causes." Sesshomaru points out.
"Yes that's true, however I'm a half demon. And my daughter is a quarter demon, as such this can happen. And that's why she's in the hospital." Inuyasha reminds him.
"We're coming." Sesshomaru hangs up immediately. Inuyasha groans doesn't like whenever an issue happens with him or his own kin, Sesshomaru just comes up to him for something or another. He goes back to the waiting to see that Ai is with Kagome waiting for him. "Who was that?" Kagome asks him.
"Sesshomaru wanted to know why we're not at the school." Inuyasha answers her as he sits next to her. Kagome's mother knows for a fact that she's not allowed to know anything about her daughter's work. "Oh, so he found out afterwards. I thought that he'd inform us beforehand." Kagome said to him sarcastically.
Inuyasha has to admit to Kagome has a point, so he has to let Sesshomaru know when he arrives. Shockingly enough, the doors in the waiting room open up with their friends Sango and Miroku with their kids in their arms. "Sango?" Kagome didn't see that coming.
"Kagome, please tell my that Moroha is going to be ok?" Sango comes up to her with a hug. "But how did you know?" Kagome is confused. Sango shows her cell phone message from her mother. "Oh, Mom. You know you didn't have to tell her." Kagome looks at her mother with a look of disapproval. "Ai ignores her daughter's remark.
"Auntie Kagome?" One of Sango's identical twin daughters tugs her hand to get her attention. "Is Moroha going to be ok?" The one named Kin'u asks her with desperate eyes. Kagome smiles down to her and the other named Gyokuto embraces them. "I'm sure she's going to be ok. We will go see her when the doctor comes out of that door there and tell me that she's waking up." She said as she pulls back.
The doors open again with Sesshomaru along with Rin and their fraternal twins, Towa and Sestuna. "Auntie Kagome!" Towa runs up to her with Setsuna behind her. "Please tell us that Moroha is going to get better." Towa begs her aunt. Kagome embraces her and Setsuna in her arms. "I'm having the doctor taking care of her." Rin hugs her as well.
Inuyasha stands up, "Sesshomaru, we need to discuss about something." He said without turning his sight to his brother. Sesshomaru follows him. "Care to explain to me why you weren't aware about the hacking issue at the school this morning?" Inuyasha asks him seriously as they go to a more secluded room.
"What are you talking about?" Sesshomaru is confused at his brother's question. Inuyasha groans, "Like I said over the phone, Kagome and I arrived at the school, to see that the school was closed because the system got hacked and no one was able to log into their data. Kagome and I were the only ones because our laptops prevent hackers from accessing our stuff." Inuyasha recaps his mission to him.
Sesshomaru has to admit that Inuyasha is right about the morning. "It appears that this hacker was able to slip though our sensors and hack the school without us realizing it until you and Kagome discovered it." He claims it.
"Exactly. Kagome found this one her screen on her laptop." Inuyasha shows the symbol to him. Sesshomaru looks down to see the symbol. "It's the Purifier." He gives his brother's phone back. "The Purifier? That's a new one to me." Inuyasha said as he puts his phone into his coat pocket. Sesshomaru can see how stressed Inuyasha about Moroha being in the hospital. "I'll look over this. But once Moroha is healed you and Kagome need to be back on duty." He advises Inuyasha sternly.
Inuyasha doesn't seem to believe it. "You know that we cannot abandon this mission. Especially Kagome. We are doing everything in our power to make sure that school is safe from any more threats." He speaks in a reasonable tone. "Inuyasha, I never said that you two are going to be dismissed from this. I'm just saying that your daughter's health is your first priority. I'd do the same thing from Towa and Setsuna."
"Funny, throughout the time Moroha was sick, you never let either me or Kagome take care of her. Until now. What brought this up?" Inuyasha looks at him with an expression of curiosity with an eyebrow raised.
Sesshomaru knows for sure that this is going to take a while to come clean. "Fine. The thing is I can't have our kids involved in this. I can't bear to see our family being used against us. Hence why they don't really know about our work. They're just toddlers." He sits in an empty chair in the room. Inuyasha has never seen his own half brother like this. The mighty dog demon lord, son of The Dog General of the West has a look of defeat.
"So, if either of your own daughters were to be in Moroha's place, you'd forget the mission at hand and look after them?" Inuyasha prefers that. "Even Rin. I was placed in a position that I had to pick on who to take care of more, my family or the mission." Sesshomaru said as he tries to get his thoughts straight.
"Sesshomaru, from now on, if anything happens to our family, we are to set the mission aside and focus on them. I will not sit by and let my own flesh and blood suffer due to my career." Inuyasha speaks very adamantly and leaves the room. Sesshomaru follows him silently back to the waiting room where everyone else is waiting anxiously for Moroha's results.
