Camille Igawa- Let The Good Times Roll D9F

Honestly, things were going good. I was afraid to say it- I was afraid to even think it- in case it jinxed me, but so far everything was going weirdly well. I'd been hiding out in the ambulance bay. It was eerie to think that on the other side of the huge garage doors there was normal Panem. Maybe there was even a Gamemaker setup. They might even have been in the building somewhere. It wouldn't be hard for them to build in a few rooms that couldn't be unlocked. They could be ten feet away from us planning what horrible thing they were going to do next. Digressions aside, I'd been hiding out in one of the ambulances. It wasn't the first time, and that wasn't even because I'd gotten sick. No, I'd just gone to one of those meet-a-paramedic thing some schools do. It almost felt like I was in school again.

Being something of an adrenaline junkie, I had indeed checked to see if the ambulances could be turned on, and I was delighted to see that they could. I couldn't tear around the bay like a madman, since I was afraid the engine noise would attract attention, but I absolutely planned to run down anyone who came at me like a cackling road-rage maniac. If I could figure out how to turn on the siren while doing so, all the better.

Of course, even in the Arena, life was not without problems. There was a small cache of food in each ambulance, right alongside the other medications. Mostly it was water, orange juice, and candy bars, presumably for dehydrated or diabetic patients. It wouldn't last forever, though. The water wasn't a problem, since there were plenty of water fountains, but I'd eventually have to go find more food. Even now, the sight of candy bars turned my stomach. I'd watched a few clips of the Candyland Games back in the Capitol. It looked bad enough then, but the more I thought about it, the more that had to be one of the absolute worst arenas in history for the people who had to go through it. If I was that sticky every second of every day, I think I'd literally lose my mind.

I tensed up at a sudden artificial-sounding click in the air. Before I had time to really get worried, the voice kicked in.

"Good Morning, Tributes!" Isabella's voice came. I rolled my eyes a little. Sure she had some street cred for going through this like we all had, but it was a wee bit easier for a double nepo baby like her.

"Things are moving a little slowly, aren't they? Last Resurrection Games was 30% over at this point and you've barely breached one hundred survivors. Don't you think it's time for a little action?" Oh no. Nothing good came of the Capitol, well, ever, but especially when they demanded action. At the same time, I felt myself giving a little in regards to Isabella. At first I'd been irked by the chipper enthusiasm in her voice, but as I listened, I could hear a familiar sort of veneer. It was the sound of someone who knew she had to keep up appearances, even if she didn't like it.

"That's right, it's time for a feast! But this time, let's have a little twist." No, no, let's not. Let's really not. "The feast will be held in the front lobby of the hospital. This being a Resurrection Games, you'll find some very special assorted prizes. Attendance is mandatory… per alliance. One and only one member of each alliance must attend, chosen by whatever logic you desire. Just for clarity, here are the alliances:

Chrome, Jessie, Fable, Arno, and Elise

Study and Wit

Olivine, Marley, and Lottie

The Circus Alliance, which also includes Timber

Sky and Zebulon

Flint and Mati

Emma, Margo, Tulsi, and Arielle

Katrina and Ferrari

Chrysolite and Shale

Arleen and Majesty

Gaius, Maxson, Toddward, and Theo

Vulpes, Visenya, Deciduous, Tyler, and Walcott

Castiel and Fleur

Yttria and Paloma

Oh, well that's a nice break. Attendance per alliance? I'd stay right here in my comfy ambulance and wait out the carnage.

"As for the loners, you are each in an alliance of one! See you there!"

Fable Anders- A Night to Remember D1F

"Well clearly I'm the right choice," I said, slapping my leg and starting to heft myself off the hospital bed.

"Woah there, cowgirl," Jayden said as Jessie laughed.

"Anyone itching for a fight?" Chrome asked.

"It shouldn't be you or Jayden, since you have bounties," Jessie pointed out. We all looked over at Arno and Elise, who looked at each other.

"If that's what everyone decides, I guess but…" Elise started self-consciously. They knew their way around a weapon, but they weren't as trained as we were.

"If one of us goes the other is leaving the alliance anyway," Arno said bluntly.

"I can go," Jessie said. Chrome and I both sat bolt upright.

"Not you!" Chrome said.

"It's dangerous!" I said.

Jessie's brows furrowed. "I'm trained, you know. I know you worry, but I can take care of myself."

"It's either that or you or I get dogpiled by everyone there," Jayden admitted.

"No!" Chrome protested.

"I can do it!" Jessie shot back.

Dammit. I knew she was right. "What if you just go in just for a minute. Just right at the edge so you can say you went, and then leave?"

Jessie smiled. "I'll come right back," she promised, looking at Chrome.

Chrome looked at her, then turned away. "Don't ask me to say I like it."

Study Furado- The Poseidon Adventure D5F

"I can go," I said.

"You really want to?" Wit asked.

What? Of course not! I wanted you to say you didn't want me to!

Wit saw my expression and waffled. "I can go," he offered.

Oh now I'm the bad guy. I'm the bad friend who pressured you into it. You don't really want to go. You just want to be the brave martyr.

"Which do you want?" I pressed.

"I don't know," Wit said. "Which you you want?"

"I'll just go," I snapped. It was horrible either way, so I just wanted to make a decision and get it over with.

Arielle Ermin- 28th Games D4F

"Rock-paper-scissors?" Tulsi suggested.

"I'm game," Emma said.

"Come on come on," Margo said, her hands clasped in supplication. "Let me go. Pleeeeeeease?"

Emma looked around with both amusement and nonchalance. "Anyone want it more than that?"

"I suppose I can delay my fun for this tiny bit," Tulsi said magnanimiously.

"I'm not picky. I'll get to kill people eventually," Emma said.

"All right, then, it's unanimous," I said.

Margo pumped her fist. "YES!"

Richard Franklin- Swing Vote D5M

Tabitha's face was trembling. She'd run out of arguments and the rest of us were still standing firm.

"I don't want you to go." She started to break down.

"I'll just go for a little bit," I promised. "I won't go after the prizes, even if they seem really cool. Not even if one is a clown suit."

It didn't make her laugh. "Can't it be-" she cast around but couldn't find anyone she was willing to send to death's door.

"I can go," Timber piped up, unable to see her cry.

"It'll be okay," I repeated. I put out my arms and Tabitha threw herself into them, leaning against me as she cried. "I'm strong."

"I'm not," Tabitha said.

Sky Larch- Wandering Soul D12F

I didn't make Zebulon say it. We both knew he thought of this as his chance to do things differently. He could do his best to get past it on his own, but this was too good a chance to pass up. We didn't even have to talk about it.

Marley Xander- Back to Normal D4F

The three of us looked at each other with a maniacal gleam in our eyes. This was our chance. This was the moment we hadn't been sure we would get.

"We're all thinking what I'm thinking, right?" Lottie asked.

"You bet," I said. Lottie whooped as she ran for the bag with our supplies. She dumped them out and rummaged through them until she came out with the capped needle.

"It's smashing time," she cried, holding the needle aloft. She held it in her hand and looked at the label.

ADRENALINE

Flint Kenyte- No Way Down D2M

What was I gonna do? I'm a bodyguard. Mati was my only ally left, so that meant she was my client. Or at least that was what I told her. Really I just wasn't that type of person. I'd kill to stay alive, but there were lines. I didn't kill kids, I didn't kill animals, and I didn't send little girls into feasts. That was not to say that part of me didn't regret ever sharing those burritos.

Katrina Moonshadow- Let The Good Times Roll D7F

Far be it from me to prevent Ferrari from doing something stupid. When you love someone, you gotta let them be themselves.

Shale Beecher- Tyger Tyger D2F

"Rock-paper-scissors?" I asked, shrugging.

"It's as good as anything else," Chrysolite said.

"Loser goes to the feast?"

"I feel like we should say winner goes to the feast," Chrysolite said.

"Is that what you want?" asked.

"It's really not," she admitted.

"Loser goes to the feast," I confirmed.

"Rock, paper, scissors."

Rock is cliché, especially for a Career. But everyone thinks scissors is the "clever" option, for no real reason. Paper is just… it just feels weak.

Impulsively, I threw rock. Well screw me… she'd thrown paper.

Arleen Limera- Res D1F

"I'll bring you back something really good, Lovey," I promised Majesty.

"'Kay," he said, not looking up from his notes.

"I'll be really careful. Don't worry about me," I said.

"I won't."

Maxson Deloria- Swing Vote D6M

"I shall do it," Todd said grandly, drawing himself up. "I shall do this for us all."

"Sit down, Spartacus," Theo said. "You don't have to be the big hero."

"It should really be me. I'm the reason we allied," I said.

"No way, Jose," Todd said. "Everyone would Zerg Rush you for the bounty."

"What's a Zerg Rush?" I asked.

Todd and Theo exchanged a pitying glance. "Everyone would gang up on you."

"We could draw straws," I suggested.

"That sounds fair," Theo said.

"Not you, though," Todd said, looking at Gaius.

"What? That's not fair!" he protested.

"Is, too," Theo insisted. "You have a 100% chance of dying. The rest of us have… I dunno, not that."

Gaius tried to protest more but was drowned out by the three of us. He reluctantly gave in and we found three tongue depressors. Gaius broke one off and held the three in his hand. I reached out and took a depressor. All at once I very much wished I hadn't made that suggestion.

Walcott Patel- No Way Down D3F

Silence hung tense in the air as we all looked at each other, each wishing someone else would volunteer. Visenya seemed to be looking especially hard at Vulpes. He was the strongest of us…

"I could go," she said suddenly.

"What? No!" Vulpes said.

"Who, then?" she shot back, almost accusingly. His glance passed over me for just an instant, but he didn't say anything.

"Absolutely not!" Visenya said.

"What? I wasn't going to suggest that," Vulpes said, and my rising worry turned to gratitude.

"Who, though?" I asked.

"I can do it."

"No!" Deciduous almost shouted, looking over at Tyler.

Tyler was impassive. "I'm strong. I've been in spots like this before."

"No!" Deciduous repeated.

"Well, you're certainly not going," Tyler said to him. "Unless anyone else wants to volunteer." He looked hard at Vulpes, Deciduous along with him. But no one said a word.

"Me it is," Tyler said.

Paloma Bennett- Descent into Madness D10F

"I can go," I said again, as Yttria packed baggies and beakers into a bag.

"I'm going," she insisted.

"It wasn't your fault." I hadn't stayed long enough to see what had happened, but clearly it had affected Yttria deeply. "He attacked us. He would have killed us if you hadn't killed him first."

Yttria curled in on herself, shrinking against the table. She scowled. "You didn't see it."

"You can't blame yourself," I said. She turned to look at me.

"I just don't want you to have to feel like I do."

I softened. "What if you can't do it again?"

She smiled sadly. "It's stupid of me," she said. She looked down at her bag. "Smokescreens, diluted CS, ethyl mercapton… it's all nonlethal. So stupid of me." She shook her head at herself. "This time, I'm just going to run away."

Fleur Laveau- No Way Down D11F

"You gonna let me get this one?" Castiel asked.

"You gonna get all devout martyr-y if I try to argue?" I asked.

"Yeah," he admitted.

"Fine, then. You can have this one."
